Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola is officially returning for Jersey Shore: Family Vacation Season 7.

The show's social media accounts dropped the bombshell Saturday night with a photo of the original star filming confessional interviews.

It's unclear whether the star has already filmed scenes for the next season, and given that confessional interviews tend to be shot later, there's a good chance of it.

"She's still the sweetest bitch you'll ever meet," the post reads.

Sammi was a key fixture in the original Jersey Shore, which premiered in 2009.

The series wrapped after six seasons in 2012 despite ratings still being strong.

MTV rebooted Jersey Shore in 2018 with most of the original cast, but Sammi wasn't ready to return.

Throughout the original series, Sammi had a toxic relationship with co-star Ronnie Ortiz-Magro.

With Ortiz-Magro being a vital part of the reboot, many figured Sammi was staying away from the show, so she didn't have to spend time with her ex.

Their relationship — what was shown on-screen, at least — was filled with drama.

Ortiz-Magro stepped away from the series in 2022 to seek medical treatment for his mental health, which might have made an opening for Sammi to consider a comeback.

It's unclear what Sammi's relationship is with her former co-stars because they have been vocal about her returning to the show.

Nicole Snooki Polizzi revealed in the past that she was shocked to learn that Sammi had blocked her on Instagram.

"We tried to get her back like two years ago, all of us texting her saying, 'Come for one dinner. Why not?'" Polizzi told E! News in September 2022 of one time she tried to bring her co-star back.

"And she's just always like, 'No, I'll never do that show again.' We didn't want to push it."

A lot of things have changed since the time Sammi was on Jersey Shore.

For starters, Angelina Pivarnick is now a regular cast member.

The series is different because it showcases the cast away from their vacation.

Yes, they still party, but we get much more insight into their lives, which is fun.

However, Jersey Shore: Family Vacation has been dropping in the ratings over the last few seasons, so producers — and MTV — will be hoping her return can help drum up some interest for the show.

Under the name Jersey Shore 2.0, the series was to replicate the success of the original.

And now, it looks like the project is dead in the water.

TMZ reported earlier this week that despite the cast being assembled, a house being found for their partying ways, pre-production had been scrapped after less than a week.

In a follow-up, the outlet says the house has now been packed up.

Additionally, the house next door that was to be used for production headquarters has similarly been packed up.

The series was to shoot in Atlantic City, and fortunately for long-running fans who are protesting alongside the original cast, it looks like we won't be seeing the series any time soon.

MTV sources told the outlet that the production has been "paused."

Now, there could be many reasons why the show has ground to a halt, including something that could signal a return to production down the line.

Still, it's hard not to think the original cast are cheering about this surprising development.

Snooki, whose partying ways helped put MTV back on the map when the original series launched, voiced her displeasure about the project from the get-go.

“As a cast that took a chance on a network in need, we put our most vulnerable moments on TV for the world to see,” Snooki tweeted after the spinoff was announced.

“We gave our all over the past 13 years, became a family and continue to open our lives for the world,” she added.

“So please understand that we are not in support of a version that will exploit our original show, our hard work and authenticity to gain viewers.

“Don’t forget to tune into an all new season for Jersey Shore Family Vacation,” she concluded, sharing the hashtag "#WeAreJerseyShore."

The decision to reboot Jersey Shore was probably easy for MTV.

It's a proven brand and the network's other Shore offerings such as Floribama Shore and Buckhead Shore haven't exactly set the ratings on fire.

Floribama Shore was a reliable performer for the network, and given the lack of updates about that show's future, there's a good chance it has been put out to pasture to try to usher in a new era of the original series.

MTV has released the trailer for the second half of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation Season 4, and it confirms what we've known for a while now:

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi is back and ready to turn the house upside down.

While the clip shows the cast speaking about some big accomplishments, the best is saved for last when the former cast member emerges from a cake.

Polizzi announced in December 2019 that she was exiting the show via her Snooki & Joey podcast.

“I have to do what’s best for me at the moment, and I am retiring from Jersey Shore,” Polizzi said at the time.

“I hate being away from the kids. I don’t like partying three days in a row. It’s just not my life anymore.”

“When I leave my kids and I film the show, I want to have a good time, and I’m putting myself out there and I just want to come off as a good person,” she continued.

“And lately on the show, it’s just been very [dramatic].”

Her exit was announced around the time fans hit out at Snooki, Jwoww, and Deena for the roast of Angelina on her wedding day.

“That’s just not how the show works, and that’s how it’s becoming,” the reality star said.

“I don’t want that… and I don’t like the person I’m being portrayed as, and this is getting [to be] a little too much.”

“I’m getting death threats with the kids and my store,” she said.

“People want to picket it, and they want to boycott it and [are] leaving reviews that I have bugs in my store."

"It’s just a lot, and it’s not something that I signed up for with this show… I need to exit myself from the situation. I don’t like the narrative of anything. So I’m removing myself.”

TMZ confirmed Snooki was filming again in March, but it was unclear whether it was a cameo.

According to TMZ, the former star was spotted filming scenes for the new season of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.

Even more surprising is which cast member she was filming the scenes with.

The outlet reports Snooki was dining with Angelina Pivarnick.

Yes, really.

If you watch Jersey Shore: Family Vacation online, you know the pair have not exactly been on the best of terms since Snooki, Deena, and JWOWW banded together to roast Angelina on her wedding day.

There was immediate backlash, which caused a division between Angelina and the rest of the female cast members, leading to Snooki announcing her exit from the franchise in December 2019.

“I have to do what’s best for me at the moment, and I am retiring from Jersey Shore,” she said on the Dec. 6, 2020 episode of the It’s Happening With Snooki & Joey podcast.

“I am not coming back to [Jersey Shore Family Vacation] for a Season 4 if there is one."

“When I leave my kids and I film the show, I want to have a good time, and I’m putting myself out there and I just want to come off as a good person,” she continued.

“And lately on the show, it’s just been very [dramatic].”

Snooki made it clear at the time that she was not thrilled about the way the viewers turned on her.

“That’s just not how the show works, and that’s how it’s becoming,” the reality star claimed.

“I don’t want that… and I don’t like the person I’m being portrayed as, and this is getting [to be] a little too much.”

Snooki also said that she and her family had received death threats.

“I’m getting death threats with the kids and my store,” she said.

“People want to picket it, and they want to boycott it and [are] leaving reviews that I have bugs in my store."

"It’s just a lot, and it’s not something that I signed up for with this show… I need to exit myself from the situation. I don’t like the narrative of anything. So I’m removing myself.”

While it's unclear whether Snooki is making a full-time return, she was definitely filming scenes for the show.

Jersey Shore: Family Vacation Season 4 found the cast taking their families to a resort for a season of madness, but the drama of Angelina's wedding hung over the season like a dark cloud.

Ultimately, Angelina worked things out with Deena and Jenni, so bringing Snooki back to hash things out could lead to more appearances from Snooki.

MTV has not officially picked up Jersey Shore: Family Vacation for more episodes, but given that it remains a top performer and that the cast is clearly filming, it will probably return in the summer.

The cabler today announced that its beloved series is set to return this holiday season with back-to-back episodes on Thursday, November 19th at 8PM ET/PT.

Following an explosive season-three finale, which was the highest-rated episode since 2018, the pop-culture phenomenon returns for season four to make "Jerztory" as the world looks a little different and social distancing is the new rule.

For the first time ever, it's "Jersey Shore 'Bring the Family' Vacation" as our favorite roommates take over an entire resort living their best lives in their own "Shore" bubble.

Yes, you read that right. 

The stars of the series will be bringing their families along for the ride. 

"With more than 10 years of ups and downs and humor and heart, the cast has always made it out on the other side stronger than ever — until now," reads the official logline.

"Angelina's wedding and the speech heard around the world left the family fractured, leaving the boys with only one option — make the family whole again."

"So, DJ Pauly D takes over a resort and with the help of Mike "The Situation," Vinny and Ronnie, they hatch a plan to reunite the girls, invite the extended family to distract them from the drama, and hope for the best," it continues.

"It seemed like a good idea at the time, but with this group you never know what will happen."

Leading up to the highly-anticipated season four premiere, MTV will air Jersey Shore Family Vacation Season 3 recap specials on Thursday, November 5th and Thursday, November 12th at 8PM ET/PT.

The cast for the fourth season includes Deena Nicole Cortese, Paul "Pauly D" Delvecchio, Jenni "JWOWW" Farley, Vinny Guadagnino, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Angelina Pivarnick, and Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino.

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi announced she was leaving the franchise last December, with her on-screen exit airing earlier this year. 

The series first premiered in 2009 and returned in 2018 to record ratings, and is an MTV worldwide phenomenon that has built a franchise that includes Floribama Shore, Geordie Shore (UK), Gandia Shore (Spain), Warsaw Shore (Poland), Acapulco Shore (Mexico), and Super Shore.

Jersey Shore Family Vacation operating in a bubble is no surprise, so don't expect the gang to be going out to bars and living it up. 

Instead, the drama will be within a closed setting.

Per Deadline, the MTV juggernaut is back in production. 

But there will be a different kind of energy on the show this season thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The cast, crew, and producers are all in a bubble, adhering to state and federal COVID-19 health and safety requirements. 

This means the cast members will not be inviting people back to their party pad, and will have to put up with each other this time. 

What's more, it will take place in a Nevada resort, so we'll have a fresh new location for the cast. 

The Bachelorette and Love Island recently completed productions on new seasons by going into a quarantine bubble, and it has largely been a success for both shows. 

Love Island wrapped its second season earlier this week, and despite the islanders being atop the Cromwell Hotel, it was a decent season. 

The cast of Jersey Shore Family Vacation includes Deena Nicole Cortese, Paul “Pauly D” Delvecchio,” Jenni “JWOWW” Farley, Vinny Guadagnino, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Angelina Pivarnick, and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino.

This will be the first season without Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi, who announced her retirement from the franchise in December.

The network also has The Challenge filming its next season, and Catfish just came off a remotely-produced season.

Farley shared the news via Twitter.

“For those of you who are reality TV fans….YES, I will be getting ready to film another season of ‘Jersey Shore: Family Vacation,’” she wrote.

“Despite the rumors, I’ve made the decision to stick with the show and reunite once again with my second family.”

The "despite the rumors" schtick is cute when you consider that she started them. 

Jenni stated earlier this summer that she was bowing out of the MTV hit after her co-star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi announced she was done with the franchise. 

“I am way to[o] ride or die to see you leave… if you’re done, I’m done,” Jenni tweeted earlier this year in response to Snooki’s farewell to ‘the franchise tweet. “There’s no Jwoww without my Snooki.”

What a difference a few months makes. 

Maybe Farley thought Polizzi would have a last-minute change of heart, but it appears the latter is definitely done with the series. 

Polizzi announced her departure in December, but thanks to the way reality TV works, it only played out on-screen a few weeks ago. 

At the time, she said there were "a lot of reasons" to exit, but it seems like she was most upset about leaving her children every time she had to film. 

“I just can’t do it anymore … I hate being away from the kids,” she said. 

The reality star, who appeared in six seasons of the original series, four seasons of a spinoff called Snooki & Jwoww, and three seasons on the reboot, also said she was not impressed with the direction of the show. 

Snooki, Jwoww, and their co-star, Deena Cortese, felt the ire of viewers when footage of a roast at Angelina Pivarnick's wedding leaked late last year. 

While Jenni has announced she will be back, Nicole said there are no plans to return just yet.

"I will not be returning but so excited to watch this season with all of you," she wrote on Jenni's tweet. 

MTV officially renewed Jersey Shore: Family Vacation for a fourth season in June. 

The series remains a bonafide hit for the network, so a renewal was a no-brainer. 

It remains to be seen whether new cast members will be brought in to fill the void left by Snooki, but the rest of the cast can bring the drama. 

That's part of why the show has been such a success.

It all started when Jenni "JWoww" Farley shared a snap on social media of a dinner date with her co-stars, as well as their loved ones. 

The event was at The Butcher's Block in New Jersey to celebrate Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino's birthday. 

The only person in the photo in question donning a mask was Vinny Guadagnino.

With the continued threat of Covid-19, people are being urged to wear masks as much as possible, with them actually becoming mandatory in many states. 

“Happy birthday @mikethesituation,” Farley captioned the picture.

“@Vinnyguadagnino the mask won’t protect us with the s–t u got jkjk.”

Fans were quick to hit out at the cast for not exercising caution by wearing masks. 

“Vinny, the only one w respect for others,” said one critic, adding:

“You would think some of u have kids at home u would protect them better.”

Farley was quick to respond to the criticism, and she did not hold back. 

“We have all been tested and don’t see anyone who hasn’t been regularly tested… it’s also hard to eat and wear a mask,” the reality star wrote.

“Glad you know all about us and think we would ever put anyone in jeopardy… especially our kids.”

The dinner was a surprise for Sorrentino's 38th birthday, and his wife, Lauren Pesce, Farley’s boyfriend, Zack Carpinello, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Deena Nicole Cortese and her husband, Chris Buckner were a part of the event. 

If you're wondering whether the birthday will be featured on the recently announced Jersey Shore: Family Vacation Season 4, don't bet on it. 

For one, it would be difficult to film a TV show in a restaurant while other patrons are trying to socially distance. 

Two, Snooki recently announced she was quitting the franchise that made her a household name, and her final episode aired last month. 

While MTV is eyeing a 2021 return date, the series probably won't return to production for months yet.

Deadline is reporting that the hit reality series has been renewed for a fourth season. 

The news comes seven months after Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi announced she would not be returning beyond the show's third season. 

Last week's season finale featured Snooki's bombshell about exiting the series. 

"I have to do what’s best for me at the moment, and I am retiring from Jersey Shore,” she said during an episode of the It’s Happening With Snooki & Joey podcast.

“I am not coming back to [Jersey Shore Family Vacation] for a Season 4 if there is one."

“When I leave my kids and I film the show, I want to have a good time, and I’m putting myself out there and I just want to come off as a good person,” she continued.

“And lately on the show, it’s just been very [dramatic].” She later said that she was not happy with the “direction” of the show, or the viewers who have turned against certain, unnamed costars."

“That’s just not how the show works, and that’s how it’s becoming,” she said. “I don’t want that… and I don’t like the person I’m being portrayed as, and this is getting [to be] a little too much.”

Polizzi also revealed at the time that both she and her children have received death threats.

Snooki confirming her exit came weeks after the infamous roast she and Deena Cortese and Jenni Farley gave their fellow co-star Angelina Pivarnick at her wedding. 

All three stars found themselves being ridiculed online for their actions, and a recent episode of the series showed what actually happened at the event. 

When Snooki said goodbye to the series last week via social media, Farley seemingly quit the series as well, noting that she would not do it without her meatball. 

It's unclear whether MTV plans to bring in some new cast members, or if it will try to entice former star Sammi Giancola back to the fold. 

However, the former reality star has been living a life away from TV screens, saying on multiple occasions that she is in a different stage of her life than she was when she starred on the show.

Being on TV is one thing, but when people are coming for your family with threats, that's a concern. 

It's easy to understand why Snooki would want to retire if she feels like her family is at risk.

With that said, Snooki claims there are “no hard feelings when it comes to the production” or the network. “I love MTV, that’s my family,” she said.

“They’re going to be my family forever. Hopefully I can work with them more.”

There was recently backlash towards the MTV star as well as her co-stars Jenni "Jwoww" Farley and Deena Cortese for allegedly roasting Angelina Pivarnick during her wedding.

Footage of the above event came to light, and it did not go down well on social media. That particular event will air during the second half of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation Season 3. 

Jersey Shore launched on MTV in 2009 and was an overnight success. It made stars out of the cast and aired until December 2012. 

A revival hit the air in April 2018, and has proven the cast can still bring the drama. It is currently airing its third season, and a fourth has yet to be commissioned. 

However, it's difficult to imagine MTV not wanting to continue the franchise. It brings in solid ratings.
