Not every character can make it past the finale. For every "Final Girl" that defeated the serial killer and lived to tell the tale, there is always a treasure trove of victims that make up the body count.

From quick-and-easy kills to drawn-out bloodbaths, their deaths are the scenes that pull us in.

Sometimes, it's our beloved favorites and other times, it's the people we can't wait to get picked off next. Please give us the bloodiest, most shocking, and most satisfying kill scenes to tide us over for spooky season. Or any binge-watching session; it's a must!

(HBO, Netflix, VH1 (YouTube Screenshot))

Below, we picked out some memorable and jaw-dropping murder scenes in TV horror that satisfied us. These unsuspecting victims were either the love-to-hate villains, the ones who rubbed us the wrong way, or they simply had a death scene that will forever be seared into our brains.

Check out the list below. And reader, beware, you're in for spoilers below, so watch the episodes if you don't want to be spoiled!

You Should Come - The Fall of the House of Usher Season 1 Episode 2
(Netflix (Screenshot))

Prospero – The Fall of the House of Usher

Netflix's captivating mini-series from the mind of Mike Flanagan has become a delicious hit for spooky season. This horror series delivers chills, thrills, and memorable kills.

But the most satisfying and iconic death? Prospero's melting on The Fall of the House of Usher Season 1 Episode 2.

A sex-filled rave and orgy within an abandoned factory is the perfect setting for carnage and horror. All the ingredients are there for something terrible to happen, and with a hedonistic trust fund boy as the target, the opportunity is served on a plate.

When the chemicals started flowing from the ceiling and burned every party-goer into goo, our jaws were on the ground. Prospero made his party a huge hit; no one will ever forget his death.

Mayor Wilkins - Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 3 Episode 22
(The WB (YouTube Screenshot))

Mayor Wilkins – Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Buffy the Vampire Slayer has plenty of Big Bads and Monsters of the Week that could've made this list. It's always satisfying whenever Buffy Summer and the Scoobies succeed in saving the world.

If we had to pick one, it would be Mayor Wilkins' explosion on Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 3 Episode 22.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 3's season finale is one of the best episodes in the series. The entire graduating class of Sunnydale High teaming up to fight a gigantic snake demon (e.g., Mayor Wilkins ascended into becoming the demon) was an empowering moment and culmination for the high school storyline.

For Buffy to take down a "pure demon," it would need something big and flashy. Enter the explosion!

Father Bryce Returns - Chucky Season 2 Episode 7
(SYFY)

Father Bryce – Chucky

Just like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Chucky brings death in every episode. There are plenty of options that could've made this list.

In particular, Devon Sawa plays a new character every season who dies a horrible death in one way or another. His turn as Father Bryce during Chucky Season 2 was the most gloriously bloody and fun.

Father Bryce treated our favorite trio of teens horribly, especially Devon. So, when the spirit of Chucky possessed his body and exploded him in a bloody mess, no tears were shed. His death got all the cheers.

Bev Keane Season 1 Episode 22
(EIKE SCHROTER/NETFLIX © 2021)

Bev Keane – Midnight Mass

Another of Mike Flanagan's mini-series on Netflix, Midnight Mass, was an exciting tale of religious ideals and vampires.

Bev Keane was the hyper-religious teacher who tried to enforce her beliefs and will on the citizens of the quiet coastal town. She was one of the first who unquestioningly believed in the vampire's power; her actions caused hundreds of deaths and infected countless church-goers with vampirism.

Bev had two iconic deaths: (1) her getting shot after trying to hide from the vampire bloodbath and (2) burning to death on the beach when she couldn't avoid the sunrise.

You can't help but love to hate Bev. Each death was satisfying because her karma came back to haunt her. And even in her final moments, the true Bev came out, and she couldn't escape her hypocrisy.

Joseph Crackstone Season 1 Episode 22
(Netflix (YouTube Screenshot))

Joseph Crackstone – Wednesday

Wednesday Addams faced a lot of evils at Nevermore Academy. Cliques, bright colors, and a killer on the loose were just some horrors awaiting her.

Joseph Crackstone was the resurrected puritanical killer who wanted to rid the world of anyone supernatural. And with Nevermore Academy being a haven for every paranormal creature, everyone was a target.

Having Wednesday and her newfound friends (or more likely allies) team up to fight Crackstone served up a fiery battle that left us wanting a new season ASAP. His zombie abilities were no match for what an Addams can do!

Blood of the Fae - True Blood
(HBO (YouTube Screenshot))

Russell Edgington – True Blood

We love a revenge plot, and Eric Northman's journey to avenge his family's death was seasons in the making.

Enter Russell Edgington, the Vampire King of Mississippi, who has amassed centuries of death and dismay worldwide. Unfortunately for him, some of his untimely victims were Eric's family.

After Russell drains Faerie blood and plans to consume an entire Faerie troupe, Eric gets the upper hand and stakes him from behind.

Sure, it might look like just another vampire-staking on the surface for True Blood, but Russell was a Big Bad. Someone needed to take him down, and thankfully, it was Eric getting the satisfying justice that was long overdue.

Thomas Anderson - Interview with the Vampire
(AMC (YouTube Screenshot))

Thomas Anderson – Interview with the Vampire

Thomas's death during Interview with the Vampire Season 1 Episode 7 might not be as flashy as the rest on this list, but it served a great purpose for Louis' and Lestat's journeys.

What better way to leave New Orleans than to have one big bloody show? Anyone and everyone who wronged them was eliminated in a terrifying after-party of chaos and carnage.

Thomas and his business buddies made underhanded moves to sabotage Louis and Lestat's thriving business. He thrived in the joy of "getting one over" on his unsuspecting friends, but his ego and pride were no match for a feeding frenzy.

The Current Supreme - American Horror Story
(FX (YouTube Screenshot))

Fiona Goode – American Horror Story: Coven

American Horror Story has over a decade of kills that have quenched our horror thirst. Many options could fill an entire list by itself!

One of the series's most satisfying and karmic deaths is that of the Supreme herself, Fiona Goode.

Jessica Lange dominated in this spotlight role. Much of American Horror Story Season 3 focused on her journey, quips, and fight to avoid death. Plus, we can't forget all the deaths she caused along the way.

So, for Fiona to meet her maker once the new Supreme was discovered AND for her to be trapped in the afterlife in her worst form of hell, it was the most delicious plate of just desserts. We want Fiona back, but we could order seconds of this treat.

Dr. Joyce Reardon
(ABC (YouTube Screenshot))

Dr. Joyce Reardon – Stephen King's Rose Red

Stephen King's Rose Red is an underrated gem in the world of TV mini-series. Seriously, watch it! You will be pulled into this ghostly adventure of psychics and scientists.

At the helm of the group is Dr. Joyce Reardon, an ambitious professor trying to prove the existence of the paranormal. However, Reardon's ambition soon leads the group into a fight for their lives.

What makes her death so satisfying is that, in the end, her goal was what did her in. Her insistence to prove her thesis was a success found her trapped in a room of spirits ready to murder her. The irony was in full force.

Keith Murfis
(AMC (YouTube Screenshot))

Keith Murfis and The Witch Hunters – Mayfair Witches

Keith was a love-to-hate villain. He had no redeeming qualities; his death was welcomed in every sense of the word.

His obsession with witchcraft and exterminating witches led him to join the religious group that kidnapped Tessa Mayfair. Sure, the group tortured and harmed people long before Keith joined, but he was just as guilty as the rest.

He helped in the torture and eventual death of Tessa.

When Rowen Mayfair took back her power and called on Lasher to enact justice, Keith and the kidnappers were dealt one satisfying death after another. Keith's obsessions went up in flames, just like him.

Ingrid Marie Hoffel - Scream Queens
(Fox (YouTube Screenshot))

Ingrid Marie Hoffel – Scream Queens

Scream Queens was a treasure during its two-season run. The Chanels and crew need to come back for another series of slayings and sass. (Seriously! Could you bring it back!?)

Between the Red Devil Killer and the Green Meanie, Scream Queen's serial killers slashed through a high body count of victims. But one of the most satisfying deaths was the death of a killer herself.

Ingrid Marie Hoffel took on the mantle of the Green Meanie to get revenge for her sister's death. However, when Ingrid's terror ended after she fell into the toxic swamp, no one batted an eye over her painful death.

Ingrid's slow descent into the toxic swamp was drawn out and excruciating as she screamed for help. We couldn't have written a killer's defeat better than that.

Beth - Scream Season 3 Episode 6
(VH1 (YouTube Screenshot))

Beth – Scream: Resurrection

Whenever Ghostface is revealed during a Scream film or TV show, you can always expect a few things: a shocking reveal, a long exposition of why they murdered everyone, and a big battle to fight off the killer.

Horror movie-loving rebel Beth was the Big Bad of Scream Season 3. She might not be the favorite of the Ghostface killers, but her death ranks high as a bloody good time.

Pushed off a roof into the gym with a projector pointed at her? A final attack within the gym? Sign us up!

Jason Carver - Stranger Things
(Courtesy of Netflix © 2022)

Jason Carver – Stranger Things

Jason's death is a blink and you'll miss it moment. In the chaos of the Upside Down breaking into Hawkins, Indiana, Jason was split in half by the energy of the dimensional tear.

The rip literally ripped him apart!

And you might be wondering why Jason, out of all the deaths on Stranger Things? Well, his villain role during Stranger Things Season 4 was so infuriating.

His grief over the death of Chrissy ignited a vigilante group to terrorize the teen. Jason was so full of it; his death was long overdue.

Uncanny Annie Season 3 Episode 6
(HULU (YouTube Screenshot))

Michael – Into The Dark: Uncanny Annie

Into The Dark is a holiday-themed anthology series where each "episode" is a movie inspired by or set during a holiday. Each tale features a new cast and new vibe, so you never experience the same tone in a row.

In the case of Into The Dark Season 2 Episode 1, it's an evil spirit inhabiting a board game that is trying to kill a group of university students.

One of Uncanny Annie's victims is Michael. At first, Michael seems like the lovable, caring boyfriend, but he's a lying, two-timing, selfish jerk who puts everyone's lives in danger.

When Uncanny Annie turns her sights on Michael and traps him in the darkness, you can hear a faint cheer over his demise. (Not really, there wasn't a cheer. That cheer came from me, and rightfully so based on what Michael did.)

Seth - Channel Zero
(Syfy (YouTube Screenshot))

Seth Marlow – Channel Zero: No-End House

Continuing in horror anthologies, Seth Marlow from Channel Zero Season 2 is another satisfying villain death. (Anyone noticing a trend?)

At first, Seth came across as the brooding hottie who cared deeply about Final Girl Margot. But if horror movies have taught us anything, it's never to trust the love interest.

Seth was the mastermind who lured and trapped unsuspecting victims in the No-End House. So, for him to eventually become another victim in the house in a similar way he trapped other people, it was the perfect karmic victory.

Kol Mikaelson Death - The Vampire Diaries
(The CW (YouTube Screenshot))

Kol Mikaelson – The Vampire Diaries

In the world of The Vampire Diaries, death is meaningless. People tend to die and find a way back continually; sometimes, it's through magic or wearing a magical ring that brings them back to life.

However, when there were actually stakes for someone dying, it made a huge impact. For example, Kol Mikaelson's death within the Gilbert home.

Permanently killing an original vampire is a huge task that requires a particular wooden stake. When Kol got staked with said weapon, it served up a glorious death filled with flames and victory for our heroes.

Monique Devereaux Death - The Originals Season 1 Episode 22
(The CW (YouTube Screenshot))

Monique Devereaux – The Originals

This satisfying death set in The Vampire Diaries' spinoff during The Originals Season 1 is an underrated favorite. Monique's role as a Harvest Witch transformed her into a minor antagonist that caused some major problems.

Unjustly murdering her sister Sophie? Her terrible attitude to Davina? Her trying to sacrifice Klaus and Hayley's baby?

All good reasons that added up to her needing to be vanquished by the original vampires. But it was the cursed throwing star delivering the many cuts that put the cherry on this delicious death.

The Guilty Party - Slasher Season 1 Episode 22
(Netflix (YouTube Screenshot))

The Guilty Party – Slasher

Instead of one target, it's an entire group needing a cold serving of karma. In this case, a group of former camp counselors is trying to cover up a murder they committed years earlier.

After killing their fellow camp counselor Talvinder, the group returns to their former campgrounds to hide the body before it's discovered.

Slasher Season 2 is an entertaining story of hidden secrets and a killer enacting revenge against those who thought they got away with murder. As you learn the truth of what happened to Talvinder, the deaths of the former friends feel so satisfying and enjoyable.

Misquoting Clueless - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 1
(Amazon Prime Video)

Lennon – I Know What You Did Last Summer

Lennon's death during I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 1 is a satisfying slow-burn throughout the one-season tale.

Sure, evil twin Lennon meets her end in a car accident during the series premiere, but the events of her death unfold throughout each chapter. As we learn more about Lennon during that fateful night, we turn against her.

Lennon was a manipulative and cruel person who enjoyed tormenting her loved ones, especially her twin, Allison. When we discover why and how Lennon ended up on the highway alone at night, her time as the villain comes to fruition.

Slasher movies have been around for decades, but there's something about slashers on the small screen that's far more interesting. Check out the best slasher series!

The post Slasher Shows That Delivered on Their Promise appeared first on TV Fanatic.

Slasher movies have been around for decades, and they excel because you have a group of people stalked by a killer, only to have the story end within 90 minutes.

Slashers on TV take things in a different direction, with the story being told over a longer arc.

That doesn't always work, but some slashers have delivered on their promise.

Slasher Shows That Delivered on Their Promise
(Clockwise: FOX (Hulu Screenshot)/Syfy/MAX (Youtube Screenshot)/CBS (Amazon Screenshot))

Because we're TV Fanatics, we've rounded up some of the best slashers to hit the small screen.

Check them out below.

Looking Into The Murder
(Cole Burston)

Slasher

Slasher has had many homes during its time on the small screen.

It started its life on Chiller before moving to Netflix and currently airs on Shudder, where it enjoys continued success.

It promised lots of death and questions about the killer's identity.

Basil Yells
(Cole Burston)

It lived up to that promise.

However, we'd be remiss if we didn't recommend the original season and Guilty Party.

They're old-school slashers, whereas the following three seasons attempt to reinvent the wheel to differing results.

At least you can sample them all! You can catch the series on Shudder and Netflix.

Facing Her Past on Harper's Island
(CBS (Amazon Screenshot))

Harper's Island

Harper's Island was way ahead of its time.

It promised a wedding on a remote island, where at least one guest would be killed off each week.

CBS ruined the momentum by banishing it to Saturdays just weeks into its run, leading to confusion from fans and many people missing out on the remainder of the series. That was a huge mistake.

Ready for a (Deadly) Wedding
(CBS (Amazon Screenshot))

It starred Elaine Cassidy, Christopher Gorham, Katie Cassidy, Cameron Richardson, Richard Burgi, Jim Beaver, and many more familiar faces.

It's a rarity that a slasher is perfect from start to finish, but with a compelling plot, three-dimensional characters, and lots of jump-scares, this one was a hoot.

The kills are comparable to Scream in terms of their creativity, which bodes very well for fans of that franchise.

We'd love a second season, but the first is the gold standard. It's just a shame Harper's Island doesn't get the recognition it deserves.

This CBS original is available for purchase online.

I Know What You Did - I Know What You Did Last Summer
(Prime Video)

I Know What You Did Last Summer

While plenty of slasher series are deeply rooted in teen drama, I Know What You Did Last Summer took a more adult approach.

Yes, there was plenty of frothy drama, but the tone was far more mature than we expected going into the series.

The kills were also gruesome, and we were left with more questions than answers throughout I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1.

Misquoting Clueless - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 1
(Amazon Prime Video)

Prime Video had plenty of potential to nurture this into a global hit because it managed to outshine many other slasher shows.

Given how it canceled The Wilds, Paper Girls, and more wonderful series, we believe this was a cost-cutting cancellation instead of driven by the quality.

Even if you're concerned about the show not getting a pre-planned conclusion, there's plenty of fun to be had by streaming the series.

The promise of a slasher series based on one of the most iconic movie franchises is a tough sell, but this show killed it — pun intended.

This is a Prime Video original series and is available to watch on the service.

Welcome to the Carnival, Liars - Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin Season 1 Episode 7
(HBO Max)

Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin (Max)

Pretty Little Liars was long in the tooth when it ended its run on Freeform.

Spinoffs Ravenswood and PLL: The Perfectionists were canceled after their freshman seasons.

The franchise wasn't as sturdy as executives first thought.

Imogen on a Call - Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin Season 1 Episode 5
(Karolina Wojtasik/HBO Max)

When we first heard about a reboot from the people who brought us Riverdale, there was cause for concern.

Riverdale started strong but became something very different from Riverdale Season 1 to the point that the show was being ridiculed online by the time it ended.

Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin's strength was in its ability to reinvent the wheel.

Having a new crop of liars stalked by a serial killer reinvigorated the franchise and delivered a genuinely chilling entry.

Minnie's Secret - Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin Season 1 Episode 5
(Karolina Wojtasik/HBO Max)

It didn't forget what came before, with the girls visiting Rosewood and the series featuring several nods to the franchise.

Many people wrote Original Sin off, but we're sure they're eating crow right now because Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin delivered a near-perfect slasher series.

It reinvented what we loved about Pretty Little Liars and successfully challenged our expectations every step of the way.

We can only hope the next season is bloodier and more dramatic because it strikes us as the type of show that will only get better.

The streaming original series is available on Max.

Emma Returns to Town - Scream
(MTV (Youtube Screenshot))

Scream: The TV Series

When Scream: The TV Series kicked off, it had a bit of an identity crisis.

It didn't know how to blur the lines between movie and TV series, but it gradually got better and hit its stride with Scream Season 2. The stakes were raised, and the killer set pieces were movie-worthy.

With a deadly two-hour Halloween special, we were led to believe there would be more of the Lakewood Six.

Ghostface Returns - Scream
(MTV (Youtube Screenshot))

How could there not be? We got the ultimate tease for Scream Season 3, but all that came crashing down when MTV announced it would reboot the series with a new cast and plot.

That's great, but we're still awaiting a resolution almost seven years later.

With the Scream franchise delivering record numbers at the box office, it'd be the perfect time to delve back into the world of Emma Duvall, even if it's just a Paramount+ movie.

Knowing that the series reached its full potential by the second season and that it delivered on its promise to translate Scream to a different medium, we deserved more.

One season of this MTV original series is available on Prime Video, and all three are available for purchase online.

Facing Ghostface - Scream
(MTV (Youtube Screenshot))

Chucky

By the time Cult of Chucky — the seventh movie in the Child's Play franchise — Chucky's presence in pop culture was waning.

Who would have thought that moving to a TV series would bring the franchise back to the good old days?

When Chucky Season 1 premiered in 2021, it took us to Hackensack, New Jersey, where Chucky kicked off a deadly rampage.

Many familiar faces from the movies were present, including Jennifer Tilly as Tiffany.

Trash Time - Chucky Season 1 Episode 1
(USA Network)

But the show also brought in a new cast, led by Zackary Arthur as Jake Wheeler.

The series promised to give us a cast of old and new faces, and it successfully blended them to create another chilling entry.

What else could we ask for?

The kills are over-the-top, and Chucky's commentary and breaking of the fourth wall deliver a comedic edge that sets the series apart from everything else.

You can catch this Syfy original airing weekly and on Peacock.

Turned Upside Down - Chucky Season 3 Episode 2
(Syfy)

American Horror Story: 1984

We yearn for the days when American Horror Story was watchable.

The last great season was American Horror Story 1984, which focused on camp counselors being picked up one by one.

The cast featured Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Mathew Morrison, Cody Fern, and more in a serial killer-inspired tale with all the conventions of a great slasher.

That Dock Is Unsafe! - American Horror Story Season 9 Episode 1
(FX Networks)

It's not a fresh concept, but it kept us on the edge of our seats as we tried to figure out the mystery surrounding Mr. Jingles.

It promised a good old-fashioned slasher over a longer arc, and it will be remembered for years.

Even if you haven't been a fan of the other entries in the AHS franchise, this might be for you.

We promise… this is a nod to the movies from the 1980s you loved.

This FX original is available to watch on Hulu.

Lady in the Water - Dead of Summer
(Freeform (Youtube Screenshot))

Dead of Summer

Dead of Summer was another show that was way ahead of its time.

Had the show been a streaming original instead of airing on a dying network like Freeform, there's a good chance it would have secured more of a following.

This one was also a 1980s-set slasher about camp counselors, but there was much more of a mythology here that left us questioning everything until the final moments.

Dead of Summer Teens
(Freeform (Youtube Screenshot))

The cast was top-tier, with names like Elizabeth Mitchell, Elizabeth Lail, and Ronen Rubinstein.

The best part of Dead of Summer was its ability to deconstruct horror tropes and challenge our expectations.

The set pieces were breathtaking, and let's just say we were hiding behind the cushion for more than one scene.

Sheesh.

This Freeform original is available for purchase online.

Hester on Season 1 - Scream Queens
(FOX (Hulu Screenshot))

Scream Queens

Scream Queens promised to deliver a comedic slasher, and it worked.

The horror-comedy focused on a college campus ravaged by a series of murders.

Far too often, these kinds of shows don't work, but the casting, script, and mystery kept this one going for another season.

Denise on Season 1 - Scream Queens
(FOX (Hulu Screenshot))

The cast featured Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Jamie Lee Curtis, and more familiar faces.

While the series secured a second season, it became a shell of its former self by shifting to a new location.

Unfortunately, the series ended on an almighty cliffhanger, leaving us to ponder the possibilities.

Let's hope the series gets to wipe the slate clean to return for a third — and final — season. We need to know what happened to Chanel Oberlin.

This FX original is available to watch on Hulu.

What's summer all about?

It's about beaches, baseball, camping, road trips, amusement parks, treasure hunting, globetrotting to exotic locations, and sharing a pitcher of margaritas with friends.

These films and TV shows capture the essence of summer.

(Netflix)

Blue Crush

Blue Crush
(Amazon)

Set in Hawaii, Blue Crush is about women surfers working to achieve the dream of surfing the famed North Shore.

Blue Crush balances the glamorous — a pro-football player romances the lead character — with the not-so-glamorous — the heroines spend their days' training and working as hotel maids.

Most of all, it has plenty of surf action and waves — those gigantic, gorgeous North Shore waves. You can stream Blue Crush on Redbox, Amazon Prime Video, or Tubi.

Burn Notice

Team Weston - Burn Notice
(USA Network/NBCUniversal via Getty Images)

Or you could travel to the other side of the United States with Burn Notice.

Michael Weston is a burned spy stranded in Miami. This means reconnaissance missions and fights go down in nightclubs, and clandestine meetings occur in jacuzzis.

Plus, Bruce Campbell plays Michael's buddy, Sam Axe, and delivers plenty of witticisms.

You can stream Burn Notice on Amazon Prime Video.

The Goonies

Goonies Never Say Die
(HBO Max)

If you're not so interested in surf and sun and more interested in hunting for pirate treasure, check out a seminal 80s film, The Goonies.

To save their homes, a group of young misfits searches for the treasure of the infamous pirate, One-Eyed Willie.

Along the way, they have to survive death traps and outwit a family of thieves.

It's a fun story with a charismatic cast, and the effects hold up. You can stream it on HBO Max.

Our Flag Means Death

Blackbeard in the Middle
(HBO Max)

If you're looking for more pirates and something more recent but is also a period piece, you might be interested in Our Flag Means Death.

Stede Bonnet gives up his upper-crust lifestyle to be a pirate during the Golden Age of Piracy.

Way out of his depth, he finds a mentor and more in the infamous Blackbeard.

You can stream Our Flag Means Death on HBO Max.

I Know What You Did Last Summer

Steamy Dancing - I Know What You Did Last Summer

Jaws

Jaws
(Peacock)

Of course, the greatest beach horror story will always be Jaws.

So what if the shark doesn't look convincing? The way the story ratchets up the tension and the iconic score reel you in regardless.

You can stream Jaws on Peacock.

However, if you still want to spend time at the beach, maybe hold off until August.

Virgin River

Jack, Mel & the Woods - Virgin River
(Netflix)

If beaches aren't your thing, how about the woods.

Yes, Virgin River has the medical drama aspect to it, but what we're here for is the Mel and Jack romance.

It playing out in a quirky, woodsy, Northern California town where the two can banter while fishing and rendezvous at Mel's cabin only makes it hotter.

You can stream Virgin River on Netflix.

Wet Hot American Summer

Wet Hot American Summer
(Netflix)

There's Wet Hot American Summer for those looking for something more comedic and raunchier.

The 2001 film is about a day in a life of a group of camp counselors.

There's a talent show, sexual escapades, a talking can of mixed vegetables, and a very recognizable cast.

You can stream it on Amazon Prime Video and Redbox. The film also spawned a sequel and prequel series you can stream on Netflix.

Salute Your Shorts

Salute Your Shorts
(Paramount+)

The 90s Nickelodeon classic Salute Your Shorts also provides plenty of wacky — albeit more innocent — summer camp antics.

Join the campers at Camp Anawanna as they play capture the flag, smuggle in outside food, and outwit camp counselor Ug.

The theme song will never leave your head.

You can stream Salute Your Shorts on Paramount+.

Adventureland

Adventureland
(HBO Max)

Expertly mixing angst, romance, and humor, Adventureland tells the stories of a group of twenty-somethings working at an amusement park over the summer.

Academy Award winner Jim Rash co-wrote and co-directed the movie.

I Know What You Did Last Summer is not getting an encore on Prime Video.

Deadline broke the news late Friday that the streaming service has canceled the YA horror series after just one season.

News of the cancellation is somewhat surprising.

I Know What You Did - I Know What You Did Last Summer
(Prime Video)

The show garnered mixed reviews, but there was a decent amount of buzz, which typically translates to viewership.

However, the streaming service never releases raw viewership statistics, so really any show can be canceled at any time.

The good news for fans is that the central mystery was pretty much closed up at the end of I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1.

Car Accident - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 1
(Amazon Prime Video)

Written and executive produced by Sara Goodman, I Know What You Did Last Summer is based on Lois Duncan’s 1973 novel, which was also the basis of the iconic 1997 film.

One year after the fatal car accident that haunted their graduation night, a group of teenagers find themselves bound together by a dark secret and stalked by a brutal killer.

As they try to piece together who’s after them, they reveal the dark side of their seemingly perfect town—and themselves.

Dance Night - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 1
(Amazon Prime Video)

Everyone is hiding something, and uncovering the wrong secret could be deadly.

Goodman wrote and executive produced alongside Original Film’s Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty, Erik Feig, Peter Guber, Atomic Monster’s James Wan, Michael Clear, and Rob Hackett, Craig William Macneill and Shay Hatten.

The series starred Madison Iseman, Bill Heck, Brianne Tju, Ezekiel Goodman, Ashley Moore, Sebastian Amoruso, Fiona Rene, Cassie Beck, and Brooke Bloom.

Friendly Concern - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 1
(Amazon Prime Video)

Prime Video has been trying to increase its YA presence, and I Know What You Did Last Summer marks the second big cancellation.

Panic was canceled last year after a single season, but much like IKWYDLS, it had a self-contained arc that was essentially complete at the end of the season.

The streaming service also has the second season of The Wilds on deck.

Awkward Reunion - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 1
(Amazon Prime Video)

2021 has been the year of reboots and revivals. It seems like every classic sitcom or cult favorite was being re-imagined. TV Fanatic staff picked their favorites.

The post The Best and Worst Reboots and Revivals of 2021 appeared first on TV Fanatic.

]]>
2021 has been the year of revivals and reboots. Working in TV seemed like we were always announcing another reboot or revival of a classic sitcom or cult favorite.

Some we felt we'd been waiting for years (CSI: Vegas), and others we didn't know we needed that reboot (The Wonder Years).

TV Fanatic staff compiled a list of the revivals and reboots of 2021, and we enjoyed almost all of them on this list. Only one was an absolute miss.

Reboots and revivals cover photo
(ABC/hbo max/CBS)

Which one of these shows were you glad to see return?

Which ones did you wish stayed gone and buried?

Dexter is Refreshed
(Seacia Pavao/SHOWTIME.)

Dexter: New Blood (Showtime)-Best

Dexter: New Blood is a bit of a slow burn but worth every flame. Dexter: New Blood is a welcome return for fans and newbies alike.

Ties to the past are haunting while the new characters intermingle with chill. Clancy Brown adds major creep-factor, as per usual, and we look forward to seeing how his diabolical shit falls apart as Dexter sees him for whom he is.

The Wonder Years (ABC)-Best

Initially, the idea of a Wonder Years reboot was enough to make anyone roll their eyes. Why mess with a classic? But instead, we got one of the best new series on network TV.

Inspired by the original, the series chooses to show what life was like for a Black family in the South during the 60s, which opens the series to explore a coming-of-age story from a more diverse perspective that we otherwise wouldn't have witnessed before.

It's a fresh take that sets the reboot apart from the original, so it doesn't feel like a direct copy. The series offers something new, and that's all you can ask when it comes to a reboot. Does this story deserve to be told? Yes.

The ensemble cast led by a spectacular Dule Hill is one to watch, and it's a wholesome series that has you tuning in week after week for more.

Looking for Hodges - CSI: Vegas Season 1 Episode 10
(Sonja Flemming/CBS)

CSI: Vegas (CBS) – Best

CBS was wise to start the series with a mystery that involved some of the old-time favorites, such as Sara, Grissom, Hodges, and Jim Brass.

They used them to propel the story and introduce the new team, who were great at solving cases and using the latest technology.

We hope now that the series has been renewed, the new team will interact with even more veteran team members.

Punky Brewster
(Peacock)

Punky Brewster (Peacock)-Best

The Punky Brewster reboot showed how Punky had come full circle and was now a single mom raising three kids.

This time, she meets spunky Izzy, played by the talented Quinn Copeland, much like young Punky. She longed to give Izzy a genuine home, and Izzy taught Punky about love, forgiveness, and being a family.

Some of the best moments were between Izzy and Travis(Freddie Prinze Jr.), who was Punky's ex-husband but treated Izzy just like one of his kids too.

And Just Like That... Poster
(HBO Max)

And Just Like That (HBO Max) – Worst

While it's only a few episodes in so far, And Just Like That lacks the charm and humor the original Sex and the City series and the two movies had.

The friendship between the three remaining ladies felt forced. The series killed off Mr. Big, so now Carrie is single, and we'll probably see her date again in her 50s.

Leverage: Redemption (IMDBTV)-Best

Leverage: Redemption came to steal our hearts, and they did. The highly-anticipated revival of this great series couldn't have come at a better time when the world seems both awful and bleak, and the little people need wins.

The Leverage revival is everything that we wouldn't want if there were any fear that Timothy Hutton's absence and Aldis Hodge's limited availability would detract from the greatness of the show and the familial team dynamic that was put to bed.

The addition of Noah Wyle and Aleyse Shannon only added to the series, and the revival has the same charm, heart, and feel-good, comedic, and wholesome vibes of the original series.

Doogie Kamealoha, M.D Cast Pic
(Disney Plus)

Doogie Kameāloha, M.D. (Disney +)- Best

The re-imagination of the original put 16-year-old Lahela as the teen doctor. Peyton Elizabeth Lee shined as a teen medical genius who wanted to be a typical teenager experiencing first love and being accepted in high school.

It helped that in this version, Doogie had two siblings, and they were both more street smart than her, making for some amusing interactions.

The backdrop of Hawaii in one was gorgeous and added to the beach and ranch scenes.

Max is Sad - Gossip Girl (2021) Season 1 Episode 11
(Karolina Wojtasik/HBO Max)

Gossip Girl (HBO Max)-Both

The Upper East Side of Manhattan's elite has been sorely missed these last few years. Gossip Girl came back into our lives with the same scandalous drama but with a 2021 modern spin.

The twist of who is behind Gossip Girl is an interesting angle that shakes up the series and changes the flow from the original series. And, the cast of characters covers many of the classic roles from the original series.

However, where is the fun?! Everyone is so miserable in New York City. The original Gossip Girl succeeded because there was vicious drama mixed in with likable characters. Let these teens (and even the teachers/adults) have a good time and enjoy their plots.

Carly and Freddie Dancing - iCarly Season 1 Episode 5
(Nickelodeon/Lisa Rose)

iCarly (Paramount Plus)-Best

Making iCarly an adult show could have ended in disaster, but luckily they handled it with poise and maturity.

While we missed some of the regular characters from the original show, the returning cast made for wonderful nostalgia, and the new cast complimented them wonderfully.

Misquoting Clueless - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 1
(Amazon Prime Video)

I Know What You Did Last Summer (Amazon Prime)-Best

I Know What You Did Last Summer carries many of the same elements from the iconic 90s slasher movie and book, but it sets itself apart to be its own thing.

It's campy, outlandish, and it isn't shy to make its characters unlikable. This is the darker side of the I Know What You Did Last Summer story, and if you embrace the sheer campiness and absurdity, it delivers an exciting time.

Plus, there's a complex web of murders and a mystery with a killer that will leave you with goosebumps.

Welcome to Fantasy Island Season 1 Episode 7
(Laura Magruder/FOX)

Fantasy Island (FOX)-Best

It sure seems like those trying their hands at reboots and revivals have found a nice rhythm in honoring what came before and forging a new path.

Roslyn Sanchez is a worthy successor to Mr. Roarke as his niece, Elena, and offering backstories on the family and how they manage the island hasn't deterred the series from exploring the episodic storylines of visitors, hoping their fantasies come true.

Did your favorite reboot make this list? Let us know in the comments which reboots and revivals were your favorites and which didn't make the cut.

The carnage of Wai Huna has ended (for now) with betrayals, death, and a wolf emerging from their sheep's clothing. No one knew how the mystery would be solved on I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 8.

"Your Next Life Could Be So Much Happier" ended on a tense note with surprises that kept us on our toes.

We got the chance to chat with Sara Goodman, the showrunner and executive producer of I Know What You Did Last Summer, to discuss the season finale. Topics like the killer reveal, the hidden clues, Allison's journey, and some surprises to come were all on the table.

Check it out below!

Sara Goodman - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 8
(Jonny Marlow/Amazon Prime Video)

TV Fanatic: What drew you to pick Margot as the killer?

Sara Goodman: I always knew it was Margot. We went into the season knowing it was Margot and that they killed the girl she loved.

Allison killed Lennon! So, she couldn't live with that. She felt they needed to pay the price.

It's a love story, Justin! [Laughs]

Comforting Parent - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 3
(Michael Desmond/Amazon Prime Video)

TVF: When you were brainstorming ideas, was there another character you considered the killer instead of Margot?

Sara: What we did the whole way through, and if you watch all of it back, you could see that it could've been Bruce and Allison together. And, it could've been Dylan.

We made sure to keep all of those options open so that we could make it work if we changed our minds for some reason. Also, to leave everyone guessing the whole time. But we never in the writer's room had anyone say, "Maybe we should change it?"

The only time I will say is Bill [Heck] thought he was the killer. And he wouldn't believe me when I told him he wasn't. [Laughs]

So, I thought maybe we did too good of a job there.

Obsession - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 8
(Amazon Prime Video)

TVF: I guessed Margot and Kyle, but one of my top suspects was Margot's mom because she was always in the mix. Do you think she knew about Margot's killing spree?

Sara: Oh yes! She tells her, and I don't know if you watched that final part where Margot tells how she did it.

It's the end of I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 5 when Margot comes in, and her mom has discovered her doing the mukbang in the bathroom. And then, off-screen, Margot has told her everything.

Mei has stepped in to frame Clara and do all of those steps. So yes, it was a whole family effort.

Mei Gilbert - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 8
(Amazon Prime Video)

TVF: Speaking of clues and planning, what was your favorite easter egg you dropped to tip that it was Margot?

Sara: At the end of Episode 5, there were a couple. Margot says several times why people kill people, which is exactly why she had done it.

In her dialogue, she literally is telling the other kids why she killed who she killed. So, there's a phrase like, "Love. People always kill for Love."

You know, things like what she says that are easter eggs.

The OnlyFans Account - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 5
(Amazon Prime Video)

Again, at the end of Episode 5, she's not wearing her shoes. You saw that the killer had these boots on.

And the whole thing with her mom where she said she hit something in the road, so there are some clues in there too.

Yeah, there's a bunch of easter eggs! [Laughs]

If you listen to her dialogue, she tells you why she's done everything.

17 Chilling TV Shows You Should Watch With the Lights On

TVF: We saw that Allison chose Margot over Dylan, and there were some teases for consequences to come. Why do you think Allison jumped in to help Margot, knowing it would hurt Dylan?

Sara: I think it was self-preservation. Choosing to be Lennon and feeling like that was the way to keep herself safe at that moment.

And that I don't think she knows whether it's self-preservation or Love. She's not fully aware of what's driving that decision.

But she knows she couldn't look Dylan in the eye, so Margot was a better choice.

Low Tides - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 8
(Amazon Prime Video)

TVF: If you took yourself out of it and watched as a fan rooting them out, did Allison make the wrong call choosing Margot?

Sara: It hurts my heart every time I watch that scene. [Laughs]

And at the same time, I get it. I don't know; I'm so deep in it. It's hard for me to know how I would feel.

What do you think?

Margot Murder Board - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 7
(Amazon Prime Video)

TVF: I'm a mystery buff. I'm always like, "You know she's going to turn against you! Choose the option. You just survived a killing spree; it's only so long until the next time."

Sara: [Laughs] That's right! I can see it both ways.

There's a part of me that wanted her to do the right thing. But I don't think that was the right thing for her at that moment. She chose to be Lennon and not be herself.

She felt betrayed by Dylan, and she was not ready to tell the truth.

Killer Theories - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 8
(Amazon Prime Video)

TVF: So with the truth, we saw it became a big topic between Lyla and the investigation. It seemed the mystery was put to rest and them believing she was Lennon. Do you feel the "Lennon lie" will haunt Allison and Bruce for the rest of their lives?

Sara: It will haunt Allison. She made this decision, and that will haunt her for the rest of her life.

I think even more so than hitting her sister, whether that was on purpose or by accident.

Living this life, I'm not sure she can do it without huge consequences.

Car Accident - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 1
(Amazon Prime Video)

TVF: Flashbacks were teasing that Allison may have purposely hit Lennon that night. Do you fall in the camp that she knew she was running over her sister or that it was an accident?

Sara: Well, I can't fall into either one. She's not sure.

I think that's the thing that haunts her. It's the thing that haunts all of us about those kinds of incidences. Is there something we could've done to stop it?

I don't know if you've ever wished anyone dead, but it's like you're so mad at someone. You hate them so much, and then something bad happens. Did you want it to happen? Did you make it happen?

I don't know that she knows if she did it on purpose, and I don't think we should know. She fears that she's so broken that she did it, that she saw her and could've stopped. But I don't know if that's the truth.

Retracing Steps - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 6
(Amazon Prime Video)

TVF: What was your favorite death scene?

Sara: Courtney. There's a tractor, there's razor wire, and her phone was hanging out.

What more could you ask for?!

And I love Courtney! [Laughs]

Wanted Woman - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 6
(Amazon Prime Video)

TVF: Dylan and the cult: what moment was a clear sign that he moved over to the cult?

Sara: When he showed up at the house after when he escaped the lava tubes. He said, "It's over."

And I think at the memorial on I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 7. When he said, "I'll do better next time, and at least they're free."

There's a couple of moments in there in which he says things that allude to that.

Riley's Dead Body - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 7
(Amazon Prime Video)

TVF: My last question is about the big cliffhanger: Riley opens up her eyes at the end! For I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 2, are you hoping to explore more supernatural elements in the show?

Sara: I'm hoping to use Riley to bring us into what the cult believes. What the cult has done, and what that means for if Riley is or is not alive.

Honey is very restorative.

Honey has many magical powers. [Laughs]

I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 is available to stream now on Amazon Prime Video.

The killer has been revealed!

All the mystery pieces fell into place on I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 8. After weeks of bloody deaths, Wai Huna's serial killer came into the light and left chaos in their way. Kudos to everyone who got it right.

But with the killer unmasked, did the reveal live up to the anticipation? Or was it just another summer memory?

Stunned Silence - Tall - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 8
(Amazon Prime Video)

"Your Next Life Could Be So Much Happier" kept us on our toes. Every time there was a chance of hope, the OG crew and the killer muddied the waters to make this a shocking and uneasy end.

Margot being the killer made a lot of sense.

I'm not saying this because I guessed that she and Kyle were involved in the killings early on. The reveal worked because her killer motivation fit the build-up to this moment; that everything we knew about Margot and her love for Lennon would push her to the brink.

Allison: Come on, Margot. You know who I am.

Margot: Yeah. You’re fucking Allison.

[Stabs her]

🔗 permalink: You’re fucking Allison.

Brianne Tju did a fantastic job channeling and portraying the unhinged side of this character. It's like a switch went off where every moment with Margot left us with dread and uneasiness. Plus, her killer stare buries into your soul.

She's done great work as a slasher victim on Scream Season 1 and a Final Girl on Light As A Feather Season 1. But, her turn as the killer here blew it out of the water.

Obsession - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 8
(Amazon Prime Video)

Margot's reveal answered a long-burning question about the OGs and why certain people were murdered.

Of course, Margot would be the one to tell the difference between Allison and Lennon; she was obsessed with Lennon, so she'd figure it out first than any of their friends. The social media posts being the key was a cheeky gag, but the entire situation probably clued her to the truth.

And her picking off anyone who could've figured out the difference between the twins was a clever tactic. Since only Bruce and Allison knew the truth, all roads would lead back to them.

Margot thought through this plan. If it weren't for the framing and spilling to her mother, she could've held onto that secret with no one being the wiser.

Low Tides - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 8
(Amazon Prime Video)

During "Your Next Life Could Be So Much Happier," Dylan's behavior didn't help his case one bit. Whereas Margot embraced her unhinged side, Dylan crumbled under pressure and became cold.

He learned about the Lennon lie on I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 7, but what did he expect without any proof?

Lyla couldn't do anything about his confession alone; it's just his word against Allison's. He should've lined up the pieces and got evidence before reacting emotionally. Allison and Bruce were much better at keeping their secret since they had done it for a year.

Margot was right on the money: he shouldn't have gone to Lyla (i.e., Bruce's girlfriend!) without a smoking gun.

Killer Theories - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 8
(Amazon Prime Video)

His backup plan of framing Allison for the murders was only going to blow up in his face. Margot had him wrapped around her finger; let's not forget that hours before their team-up, she tried to convince Allison that Dylan was the killer.

Having "Lennon's" computer, the arctic spiders, and Riley's severed arm all painted a bad picture. But the worst was him sneaking into Allison's house yet another time.

Dylan: I came to give you another chance. You need to tell the truth and then I can help set you free.

Allison: You mean like you freed Clara?

Dylan: It’s what she wanted. A chance at redemption in the next life.

Allison: What the fuck does that mean?

Dylan: I helped prepare her for the prophecy.

Allison: You’re really scaring me.

Dylan: You’re the one holding the knife.

🔗 permalink: You’re the one holding the knife.

Dylan confronting a visibly scared Allison only added more to the long list of reasons he could be the killer.

If he had taken a step back and thought it out, he would've realized Allison and Bruce weren't the killers. The Harold and Officer Doug deaths on I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 5 couldn't have been them as they had alibis during "Allison's" memorial. Everyone in town saw them on the beach; they couldn't slip away to kill.

He only believed the theory because he felt betrayed by Allison.

Twin Switch - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 8
(Amazon Prime Video)

Part of it could be due to him being a member of the cult.

"Your Next Life Could Be So Much Happier" had peak creepy Dylan vibes. Like, his entire vibe radiated eerie cold energy that made him seem more like the killer.

His break-in into Allison's house was his creepiest moment yet.

Dylan being in the cult confirmed his connection to Clara and why he killed her in the caves. The second main story of I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 has been laddering up to the cult, so his twist looping back to the story worked perfectly.

It makes sense why he joined the group; he was traumatized by the hit-and-run accident and possibly needed salvation. And, some of the things he said were specific sayings the cult liked to say. The hints were all there to find.

17 Chilling TV Shows You Should Watch With the Lights On

If you were Allison, would you have chosen Margot over Dylan too? My jaw hit the floor when she sided with the serial killer.

Granted, Dylan burned a big bridge when he turned his back on Allison and told the cops about her. However, it didn't seem that bad enough for Allison to throw him under the bus and frame him for all the murders. She still loved him (or it had seemed like it).

Plus, she's now stuck with a psychotic serial killer who is obsessed with her. It's only a matter of time before Margot falls back into her bad habits.

Margot: Never leave me. Okay?

Allison: Never.

🔗 permalink: Never leave me. Okay?

It was a shocking twist that didn't seem like the obvious answer.

Allison had reasons for choosing Margot, which made sense after her many years of being abandoned and feeling unloved. Hopefully, she doesn't regret her decision and ruining Dylan's life.

The Cult Bible - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 8
(Amazon Prime Video)

If she hadn't reunited with her mother, I have a feeling the outcome would've turned out differently. Allison wouldn't have reacted to Margot's love plea the same way after being rejected earlier.

Can we all agree that Helen was the worst? Like, the most terrible parent in Wai Huna.

She couldn't even fake it for a little bit to show her daughter some kindness. Helen only came back for the cult's bible; she should've just called Bruce and had him courier the book to her instead of wasting a flight.

Her claim that there was something wrong inside Allison was laughable because Helen was ten times worse. No sympathy at all when she became the killer's next victim!

Bloody End - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 8
(Amazon Prime Video)

The question of the Lennon lie ran throughout "Your Next Life Could Be So Much Happier." Lyla following up on Dylan's tip showed promise because she took her job seriously and checked in on things.

However, my problem with her investigation was that she only relied on two photos to make the final decision. Seriously, two desk photos!

Lennon and Allison are identical twins. Why didn't she check other photos? Do fingerprint testing? Look back at notes taken over the dead body?

Helen: I saw Allison. She’s still as difficult as ever. I can only imagine the terrible things that you two did that made her take her sister’s identity.

🔗 permalink: I saw Allison. She’s still as difficult as ever.

The Wai Huna police department is sloppy; they should've done a complete examination of "Allison's" body when it washed up. If the truth ever comes out, Lyla and the police should look back to this moment as to when they messed it up.

And the mystery will no doubt come up again. Someone is bound to spill the truth about the Lennon lie again.

Mei Gilbert - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 8
(Amazon Prime Video)

Last Thoughts From The Caves:

 • Riley's eyes opened! Is she alive? Could the show be exploring paranormal plotlines?

 • Mei will do anything to protect her daughter, including hiding her murderous secret. Hopefully, she's paying Kyle double for cleaning up the mess.

 • How big were Clara's house and compound? The secret underground lab looked massive.

 • Allison might have known she was running over Lennon on the highway. It's an interesting theory, but the dream/flashback didn't make the answer clear.

Allison has a dream of her driving the car during her graduation night and running over Lennon. The dream makes it seem like she saw Lennon in the road and purposely ran her over. Dylan in the dream wanted to go home.

Allison's mother is back in town to claim the cult's bible after Clara's death. She thinks "Lennon" would choose to live with her and join the cult.

Allison confides in Margot that she thinks Dylan could be the killer. She manipulates her last confrontation with Dylan to be about him believing she's "Allison" instead of her telling him the truth.

Dylan tells Lyla the truth about Allison pretending to Lennon and them killing "Allison" during the hit-and-run. Lyla doesn't believe him because she and Bruce think Dylan has been stalking "Lennon" in the black truck. Lyla needs proof from him, but he only thinks Margot could prove it.

Allison confirms to Bruce that Margot doesn't suspect anything. Bruce took care of their Dylan problem.

Lyla visits Margot to ask her about "Allison's" suicide. Margot's mom calls Bruce to give him the heads-up that Lyla came to visit them.

Margot is freaking out about Dylan going to the police. Allison doesn't reveal to Margot that she slept with her. However, Margot finds the used condom in Allison's bathroom.

Lyla tells Bruce that she doesn't believe Dylan's story.

Margot asks Dylan if he slept with "Lennon." He admits that they had sex and that Allison told him the truth. Margot thinks that Allison and Bruce killed everyone; all the deaths were people who could tell the difference between the twins. Margot gives him Allison's computer to hack into to see if she has the killer videos. Margot is going to try to get a confession from "Lennon."

Lyla and Bruce have sex. Lyla wonders how "Lennon" will react once she and Bruce get engaged.

Allison's mother knows immediately that she's alive. She reveals that she missed the cult and wanted to be with them; she left to be with Fred. Allison's mother says that there's something wrong inside of Allison.

A flashback shows Allison and Lennon arguing at the party; she wished Lennon would be gone forever. It's confirmed that Allison purposely drove into Lennon on the highway.

Margot secretly records her conversation with "Lennon." Allison doesn't give her the information she needs to frame her.

Allison's mother Helen can't find the bible at the compound; she chastises him and Allison for what they do for the Lennon lie. Bruce promises to find the missing cult bible.

Margot tells Dylan she knows that Allison's mother is in town. They want to find her so that she can reveal the truth to the police. Dylan is pulling out the brain from a dead animal; he places it in a jar with the same spiders from the cult.

Margot visits Clara's house in search of Helen. She heads into the basement to find a dead animal body.

Allison is scared because she hears mysterious noises in the house. Dylan has broken in and told her that he "freed" Clara for her better next life. Allison knows that Dylan wrote her the threatening note. Margot calls them both to come to find her.

Lyla gives her medical examiner photos of both Lennon and Allison to determine which twin is which.

Dylan and Allison find Helen's bloody dead body in Clara's basement. Someone knocks out Dylan. Allison follows the sounds of Margot's crying tears in the distance; there are photos from the cult along the path.

Margot is revealed to have killed Helen; she did it for the pain caused to Lennon. Margot knew she was Allison all along because of the social media posts when she left for school. Margot stabs Allison.

Bruce calls Margot's mother to look for Allison.

Kyle places a dead body in the trunk of a car.

Margot questions Allison about all her secrets and why she kept the Lennon lie going. Allison tries to keep the lie going; Margot doesn't believe her.

A flashback of the car crash shows Margot caring for Allison.

Allison says that she cares about Margot and wants to help her like how Margot helped her. Margot reveals her plan was to frame Allison for all the murders and get her locked up, but she can't live knowing that Allison is out there keeping the Lennon lie.

Dylan wakes up locked in a room at the compound.

Margot confirms that Allison is Allison because Lennon would never apologize.

Dylan breaks free and tries to stop Allison from bleeding out. Margot plans to frame Dylan for killing "Lennon." Dylan takes Margot's gun away, but as he points the gun, Lyla arrives to break up the situation.

Margot manipulates Allison into claiming Dylan was the killer and was the one who attacked them in the basement.

Helen's body is missing from the basement. Kyle has taken the body to the caves.

Dylan keeps claiming that Helen is dead, that Margot placed his DNA on "Lennon," and Margot is the killer. Bruce keeps the lie going by claiming Helen has been dead for years and that Lennon is alive.

Margot tells Allison that she loves her and can't believe she would frame Dylan. The police find Lennon's computer, the arctic spiders, and Riley's severed arm at Dylan's house.

The medical examiner confirms that the photo of "Allison" is similar to the dead body they found in the ocean. A flashback shows that Bruce switched the photos he had of Allison and Lennon on his desk.

Allison lies to Bruce that she doesn't know what happened to Helen.

Scenes show Dylan being placed in jail, him reading the cult bible to the prisoners, the police placing Riley's severed hand in jail, and Allison agreeing to never leave Margot.

Riley's eyes open in the frozen.

A hidden secret is revealed to one of the OGs on I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 7. How do they react? Read our review to find out.

Allison should watch her back around Margot and Dylan. Her two BFFs looked mighty suspicious on I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 7.

Wai Huna is ready to move on after the recent chaos, but there's still a little matter of a killer in their midst. Could they have been wrong about Clara all this time?

"If Only Dogs Could Talk" teased the end of the mystery. However, the looming questions and recent attacks kept us on our toes for what the real answers could be.

Hook-up Buddies - Tall - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 7
(Michael Desmond/Amazon Prime Video)

Wai Huna descending into a furious mob was right up their ally. Look at how quickly they turned against Kelly on I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 3! Yet, there she is, accepted among them after the truth set her free.

Surprisingly, it was Courtney's murder that banded them together.

The spooky little town loves to change its mind about people once they're dead. This happened with Johnny and Eric's murders on I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 2, and a small treatment with Dale's demise.

No one should get on their bad side, especially Lyla's mom.

She's become one of the funniest comic reliefs on the show; she's always around with a one-liner or visual gag. Lyla turning and calling out her mother, who had a loaded shotgun in her hand, was a priceless moment.

Lyla's Mom - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 7
(Amazon Prime Video)

The police discovering the honey cave brought up so many questions about the murders and Clara.

Why did she place Riley's dead body in the pose? What is the purpose of the cult ritual? Did she kill Riley with the machete?

And most importantly, did she suffocate herself, or did Dylan kill her?

Allison: I need you to help find Dylan.

Bruce: Dylan? Lyla has got everyone searching for Riley.

Allison: It’s too late for Riley.

🔗 permalink: It’s too late for Riley.

"If Only Dogs Could Talk" teased that Clara was involved in the murders (well, the town believes so). Her washing the blood off the murder weapon made it clear that she had access to it, whether she found it on the ground or took it back after dropping it. And she had to have known to find Riley's dead body near her house.

Dylan's alibi throws a wrench in the Clara theory. He either did escape through the lava tunnel, or he's the reason she's dead. Clara was alive for hours after bumping into Dylan, so things aren't adding up.

(Amazon Prime Video)

Time jumps are a tricky thing on TV shows. If they're not handled correctly, any momentum and plots built before that can suffer.

Desperate Housewives Season 5 did a great job. Riverdale Season 5 had its ups and downs. Once Upon A Time Season 7 didn't hit the mark.

In this case, a three-week fast-forward provided some good pacing.

Three weeks isn't long enough for people to forget about the murders, but it's enough time for their guards to come down and believe the killings stopped. Plus, the OG crew were still deep in their drama and on edge after losing Riley and Johnny.

Police Investigation - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 7
(Amazon Prime Video)

Bruce and Lyla's relationship was a pleasant surprise after the three-week time jump.

Their kinky sex life hasn't changed one bit, which is shocking since she's the chief of police and hooking up at a public event is a big no-no. Did anyone actually suspect they would tone down their naughty exploits?

Still, it warmed my heart that they talked about marriage and taking their relationship to the next level.

Call me a hopeless romantic. There's something sweet about them recognizing their hook-up years together and wanting to make it work. Hopefully, they survive, and she gets her big JLO-sized rock.

17 Chilling TV Shows You Should Watch With the Lights On

The love triangle, on the other hand, seemed so messy. It's a recipe for disaster!

Did anyone want her to get together with Dylan? Or were you hoping she would start something with Margot?

I Know What You Did Last Summer's Madison Iseman played mysterious when I asked her a similar question, but "If Only Dogs Could Talk" showed that both choices aren't so simple. Margot's and Dylan's secrets might be what tears apart any relationship prospect.

Lyla: Now you’re really freaking me out.

Bruce: Come on, after the summer we’ve had. You don’t want to do something a little romantic?

Lyla: You want to know what I want? A big ass rock! Like JLO’s. What was that? Ten carats or 15?

🔗 permalink: You want to know what I want? A big ass rock! Like JLO’s.

In the three weeks, Allison's chemistry with Dylan heated up, so it's not surprising they hooked up. However, she's still enjoying her flirtation with Margot too. You can't help but feel sad whenever Margot looks longingly at "Lennon."

If Margot and Dylan aren't the killers, Allison needs to make a choice. She can't keep toying with Margot and messing with those emotions.

Benefit of the Doubt - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 7
(Amazon Prime Video)

Allison's most shocking moments were when she came clean to both Bruce and Dylan. Telling the truth was always the smarter option, but she would've taken both secrets to the grave, especially after sticking with the lie for so long.

Revealing the killer texts needed to happen eventually.

The OG crew were the only people who knew about the texts, and their lives were in danger too often. Let's face it: the threat from the killer outweighed them keeping the secret.

Allison needed to tell someone. Thankfully, Bruce could connect some dots and still keep her second secret hidden.

The Lennon Lie - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 7
(Amazon Prime Video)

Telling Dylan was a bad call. Blame it on Allison's lingering feelings on Dylan or their post-sex bliss, but they did not have a strong foundation for that type of news.

Did she forget how terrible he took the car accident and post-reunion murders?

Dylan is not one to handle shocking news. And it didn't help that the person he thought he betrayed/killed turned out to be alive and lying to him all this time. His general shock and reaction felt real.

Their pairing, while strong in chemistry, is a tad toxic. Allison and Dylan would need a lot of time to talk this out to make things work.

Margot Murder Board - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 7
(Amazon Prime Video)

Though, I'm also in the camp that Dylan is hiding secrets.

He probably killed Clara. Like, he came back to smother her thinking he did it to protect "Lennon," right?

Dylan's words to Allison made it seem like he did something for her, that he instantly regretted the part he played. It might've been about the car accident, but the shock on his face had more underneath it. He did something recently that he's kept a secret.

Allison: It’s me, Dylan. It’s me. Allison.

Dylan: That’s not funny.

Allison: It’s true, I swear.

🔗 permalink: It’s me, Dylan. It’s me. Allison.

And his sketchy alibi for why he left/how he got away didn't help. He's most likely a red-herring since Margot is so dead-set he can't be trusted, but there's more to the story.

His going to the police could be him confessing about killing Clara, or it could be him confessing about the car accident. Whatever he says next will change everything for the OG crew.

Survivor - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 7
(Amazon Prime Video)

Margot isn't completely innocent from killer theories either. Her final lines on "If Only Dogs Could Talk" confirmed that she knows something involving Allison and Lennon is going on.

Imagine if she knew all this time that Allison was alive, like right from the car crash!

We've chatted before about how surprising it was none of Lennon's friends knew the difference between her and her sister. Especially since they all grew up together, they would know some subtle signs to tell the sisters apart. They went with the jacket without a second thought.

Margot: You have them too.

🔗 permalink: You have them too.

But, if Margot knew all this time, it puts into question everything about her since the beginning. Her flirting, fear of the killer, and how she approached "Lennon" would've all been calculated to get the romance she wanted.

My theory about her being the killer isn't looking too out there now. Or, the killers being Kyle and Kelly trying to "clean up" Margot's mess.

Johnny Memorial - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 7
(Amazon Prime Video)

The one thing going against this theory was Margot's recent attack. Pushing her through the glass door could've killed her had the glass gone in a specific way.

Luckily, she only had a few flesh wounds to treat. And she looked genuinely scared seeing someone behind her.

The odds of her being the killer and also a victim doesn't work out in my favor.

"If Only Dogs Could Talk" has the honor of getting the biggest horror movie reaction out of me. I fully expected the killer to be behind Margot in the reflection and attack; I prepared myself for this twist. But yet, I jumped the second she got pushed through the glass.

Kudos! The killer delivered on making me jump.

Mommie Dearest - I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 7
(Amazon Prime Video)

Last Thoughts From The Caves:

 • Allison's mother deserves no credit for returning to Wai Huna. She abandoned her kids and cut them out of her life. She's lucky she got a text message at all.

 • Protect Cheeto at all costs!

 • Lennon's flashbacks made me wonder more about the car accident that night. She ran directly into the car in the middle of the street. Why didn't she stand at the side of the road to wave them down?

 • Margot's copy of Lennon's sex tape with Dylan made her more suspicious. She shouldn't have a copy of that tape, especially since Lennon's OnlyFans page was shut down.
