On Hunters Season 2 Episode 8, it is the trial of the century, and everyone gets the chance to say their piece. The hunters make decisions about their lives. Read on!

Fiction gave us the trial that never was.

Hitler is tried and sentenced on Hunters Season 2 Episode 8. Clara finally understood where Jonah had been coming from, and they took their relationship to the next level.

All pieces fall into place, and we learn the perverted beginning of the Hunters and how in a bid to protect themself, one man changed the course of history without even knowing it.

L - Hitler - Hunters Season 2 Episode 8
(Amazon (Screenshot))

This being a series finale, it was a great one. It gave us everything it had promised and then some. We experienced the trial, and all the stories were tied up nicely but left open for anything that might happen in the future.

It is important to note that Hunters was not a documentary show. Actual events inspired it, but they didn't depict the events as they were. The creator took liberty with the story, which allowed them to give us Hitler's trial.

Travis 2 - Hunters Season 2 Episode 8
(Amazon (Screenshot))

Jonah never gave up hope that Clara would forgive him. But before dealing with the Clara situation, the world was watching to see this infamous man get his day in court.

Travis also survived the gunshot and was making plans with The Colonel.

The trial was interesting.

Hitler: Knock ’em dead.

🔗 permalink: Benjamin, knock ’em dead.

The fact that the defense attorney and the prosecutor were Jewish was the first interesting thing. It was unexpected that Hitler would allow a Jew to represent him but he was not in a position to argue or make demands.

Clara - Hunters Season 2 Episode 8
(Amazon Studios)

I hold nothing against Benjamin, and as a matter of fact, I respect his dedication to following the law. He didn't kid himself by trying to argue that Hitler was not guilty of the charges levied against him, but he ensured that he got a fair trial and his day in court.

Generally, giving someone a chance to defend themselves without being beaten into submission is great. It doesn't matter the crime the person has been accused of.

Trials are not also only about the accused. They are also about the victims. Many victims finally got to let out all their pain and say what they had been holding in for years. It is a chance for the world to listen to them and hear their story.

It is an opportunity to let the facts be known. For truths to be laid out in the open and lies to be debunked.

Ruth - Hunters Season 2 Episode 8
(Amazon Studios)

Throughout the season, we got little glimpses into the personality of Hitler. At first, he came off as a weak old man who needed a caretaker. Then he was shown to be as awful as one would expect.

But during this trial, his full colors came into display, and we saw the insecure, narcissistic, hateful, evil, and deluded man that we all have concluded he is now.

There wasn't much anyone could use to argue a case for Hitler. He is one of the most disgusting people ever to walk the face of the earth. Even putting him on the stand, he could never argue his case.

It was a huge risk putting him there because we all know that even today, he inspires some people while in his grave. Televising him all over the world would have negative consequences.

Travis - Hunters Season 2 Episode 8

Hitler: I never ordered the killing of any Jew. And no document or paper will tell you otherwise. You American killed your Native Americans, enslaved Africans. You Brits, you put the Boers into concentration camp. And you Soviets killed millions of people. And you sit there… to judge me?

🔗 permalink: I never ordered the killing of any Jew. And no document or paper will tell you otherwise. You…

He tried to gaslight the entire world into believing he wasn't horrible. Many people have also done bad things, you see. But two wrongs never make a right.

In the past, Meyer freaked out after realizing that Ruth knew about his identity. If he had killed Ruth, that would draw unwanted attention to him. He also wanted more people in his band to help kill anyone who knew about his identity.

Throughout the trial, our hunters were strategically placed in the courtroom because they knew someone would always try to protect Hitler.

Judge: Adolf Hitler… on the count of crimes against peace, the tribunal finds you… guilty as charged. On the count of crimes against humanity — guilty. On the count of common plan or conspiracy to commit murder… guilty. Adolf Hitler, you are hereby sentenced to lifetime imprisonment without the possibility of parole.

🔗 permalink: guilty. On the count of common plan or conspiracy to commit murder… guilty. Adolf Hitler,…

I will admit that Hitler being found guilty of the charges didn't move me. While reviewing Hunters Season 2 Episode 6, I mentioned that nothing could be done to him to make up for all the evil he had committed; he could die a million deaths, which would still not be enough.

Chava - Hunters Season 2 Episode 8
(Amazon (Screenshot))

It appeared that all the courtroom people were relieved by the outcome, so maybe it was the best that anyone could have expected.

Travis and The Colonel's attempt to rescue him was an exercise in futility. Their unholy trinity was always doomed to fail because they were awful people who could never trust each other.

With an escaped Travis in the wind, there is always the chance that Nazism might rise again. Hasn't it?

The hunters must make sure that evil is not allowed to thrive.

Joe - Hunters Season 2 Episode 8
(Amazon (Screenshot))

It was a reality Sister Harriet tried to get Jonah to see. Even in the comfort of his marriage, it doesn't mean the outside world is safe.

Harriet: At 9:17 p.m., just a couple of hours before Ruth was murdered, a call came into the toy shop from 212-073-4309. The number that belonged to the residence of… Meyer Offerman.

Jonah: Meyer called Richter.

Harriet: Meyer gave the order. My deepest sorrows about your grandmother. Ruth had discovered Meyer was The Wolf.

Jonah: She figured it out.

Harriet: But before she could act… he got to her. Evil doesn’t rest, Jonah. Evil doesn’t retire. So why should we? How can we? We tell the stories of the past to change our future.

🔗 permalink: But before she could act… he got to her. Evil doesn’t rest, Jonah. Evil doesn’t retire. So…

The finale did an excellent job of giving everyone a happy ending. Jonah got married, Lonny won some acting awards, and Joe lived freely on the road as his companion.

But these people are hunters at their cores, Jonah especially. His marriage might not survive his lies. Even when he takes his wife for a vacation, it is to hunt some Nazis.

The idea for this show was fresh and very well executed. It could sometimes feel slow, but that was all part of Hunters' charm.

Rafael Solano - Jane the Virgin

What did you think of this finale? Was it everything you hoped for?

Do you think they all continued hunting, or did everyone move on to other things?

What a surprisingly good episode! When a huge atrocity is committed, there's a pattern narratives take, especially in our current world.

It is easy to focus on the perpetrator and forget the victim or victims who suffer from the crime and continue suffering even after the hype has died.

We broke from hunting Hitler on Hunters Season 2, Episode 7. We visited somewhere in Germany during the war to look at the victims, both direct and indirect victims and how the events affected them during and after Hitler's war on them.

L - The House - Hunters Season 2 Episode 7
(Amazon (Screenshot))

This great and unexpected episode undoubtedly had everyone on edge. It began bizarrely and threw some of us for a loop before we knew what was happening.

The story of the home was more than a funny break in the show. It shows the struggles Jewish people went through being hunted all over Europe by a deranged man.

Herr Halstrom - Hunters Season 2 Episode 7
(Amazon (Screenshot))

It highlighted the joys stolen by hiding all the time. The depths people had to go to keep themselves safe, and all the people who died, whether they were the intended victims or not.

Narrator: Once upon a time there was a man… who told a story about a man… who told a story about a man …who told a story about… a house.

In the story, as told by Jonah to Hitler, the first people we met were the couple. This advanced in age, they should have been living their best life at that point.

The husband took this chance to find redemption for everything he had helped design for The Reich.

We met the first trio of Nazi soldiers.

Joe - Hunters Season 2 Episode 7
(Amazon (Screenshot))

These soldiers represented the kind in the regime who were doing their duty to their country. Did that excuse their actions? Absolutely not. They were shown to be compassionate and understanding in how they addressed the couple.

Soldier: Herr Hansöm, this is an uncomfortable inquiry for both you and Frau Hansöm. But I am sure it’s a mix-up of some kind. But ask it still I must. We received a tip to our intelligence service, and I must ask as delicately and respectfully as I can… is there anyone else hiding in your home?

🔗 permalink: Herr Hansöm, this is an uncomfortable inquiry for both you and Frau Hansöm. But I am sure…

Earlier, we saw Hugo try to get the little snail out of harm's way. But the longer they stayed in the house, the more their true colors showed, more so Hugo.

The first and second soldiers did not have much to them. They were there to hunt Jews and didn't think of anything beyond that.

The case of Hugo was a curious one, though. He wanted to be an architect but was bullied by his father into joining the regime's army.

Millie - Hunters Season 2 Episode 7
(Amazon (Screenshot))

He appears calm and composed in the early minutes, but as he senses something is amiss, he becomes disheveled and paranoid. Even after he was confident that the couple was lying to him, he struggled to show muscle and even hurt them.

One could argue that he was a good person caught up in a bad situation. This was what the Nazis did. They turned otherwise good people, by all accounts, into awful humans.

They forced people who would have gone through life without harming anyone to become killers. Hugo could have blissfully spent his life as an architect, but he became someone else. The old couple could have enjoyed the rest of their lives in peace, but they had to adapt.

They lied, plotted, and murdered. They never had a child named Hugo. They overheard the soldiers call him Hugo and took it when an opportunity presented itself.

Frau Halstrom - Hunters Season 2 Episode 7
(Amazon (Screenshot))

On the flip side, it gave awful humans an excuse to inflict pain and suffering on innocent people.

When the second trio of soldiers came, they represented those people. One of them removes the snail from its shell, effectively killing it. That was the first indicator that they were bad news.

Fuelled by gluttony, he killed the couple so that he could take their home.

Hitler made neighbors spy on each other. Everyone was suspicious of the next person. Checking how much shopping your neighbor is buying, looking for signs of them being traitors.

Soldier: A Frau Olga Hiddenbrau claimed Helga Hansöm picked up from the market three whole ducks. That’s a lot of birds for just two people.

Frau Hansom: Yes, of course. Quack, quack, quack. I seldom leave this house, but when I do, I buy extra and freeze them in the ice box.

🔗 permalink: Yes, of course. Quack, quack, quack. I seldom leave this house, but when I do, I buy extra…

After getting rid of the soldier and his wife, the Jews live again for the first time in a while. The children play and have fun. They get a little bit of the lives they had stolen from them. They stopped living as ghosts for a while.

Lonny - Hunters Season 2 Episode 7
(Amazon (Screenshot))

It was unimaginable how they got through it, but such is the nature of humans. We persevere.

But since they have gotten used to nothing good in their lives lasting for a while, they had to prepare for the inevitable reality.

The home that had housed them for a while became their protector and eventually grave for many.

Zev: It’s true. I think we’re ghosts. I think this is a ghost story.

🔗 permalink: It’s true. I think we’re ghosts. I think this is a ghost story.

But the children grew up and decided to exact revenge. They chose not to live as ghosts and take their destiny into their hands while still seeking justice for those they had lost. They became the first hunters.

Meyer - Hunters Season 2 Episode 7
(Amazon (Screenshot))

Would Hitler have thought that the people he sought to exterminate were ones to see justice served?

This was a story of suffering, perseverance, redemption, and justice. It is an homage to the many people who sacrificed their lives to protect the marginalized. It is an homage to the lives lost. Those lost during the war, like in the house, or those lost trying to bring Hitler to justice, like Chava and Georges.

It was a story of and for the victims.

It is a lesson our media can learn and stop glorifying mass shooters. The lives of the victims are much more important than their abusers and tormentors.

It's time we got the bastard.

The hunters finally found who they had been looking for on Hunters Season 2, Episode 6. Using Joe's knowledge of the compound, they infiltrated and captured him but not without some casualties.

Ruth became convinced that Meyer was a poser, but she still didn't know his true identity.

L - Meyer - Hunters Season 2 Episode 6
(Amazon Studios)

Roxy and Lonny rejoined the team after Roxy got treatment for her gunshot and scored a second chance at getting who they had been after.

The Colonel revealed her true intentions to Hitler, who didn't hesitate to shut her down.

Joe 2 - Hunters Season 2 Episode 6
(Amazon Studios)

The nature of Joe's help is something that any rational person would question. They didn't see what went through his head as he remembered who he was, so it was only fair that Millie and Harriet questioned it.

Harriet: I have a bad feeling about him. He’s playing us like a fiddle. We can’t trust him.

Millie: You think he let himself be captured intentionally? He shot Travis in the face. He’s the only way we get to Hitler.

🔗 permalink: You think he let himself be captured intentionally? He shot Travis in the face. He’s the only…

In case it hasn't sunk in, Joe had been a hunter dedicated to hunting Nazis. At some point, the Nazis captured him, brainwashed him, and got them to do their bidding. He had already murdered one hunter and shot another.

It wasn't that much of a stretch to think that he had been programmed to kill Travis if Hunters, fake being cornered them on their side, and deliver them to Hitler.

But as everyone was laying blame on his feet, Roxy, who had looked for him since they had gone separate ways, was the only one to recognize that Joe was not acting as his true self.

Jonah - Hunters Season 2 Episode 6
(Amazon Studios)

The beginnings of this group were through cheating and lying, and Joe, the first hunter, was here before them. They didn't strike a friendship as Roxy and Lonny did, or like Jonah and Millie with him, he must have felt like an outsider. Like a muscle, they only call upon when they need a battle fought.

It is wild to think that they never bothered to look for him even after they had learned that he had been missing. Only Roxy did. They don't have the right to question his allegiance. Not when they disappeared on him.

Millie: Can we trust you, Joe?

Joe: Trust me? They fucking abandoned me! They never even looked for me! And you’re wondering if you can trust me?

🔗 permalink: Trust me? They fucking abandoned me! They never even looked for me! And you’re wondering if…

Over at the Fuhrers, The Colonel was still making her play. If one were to make an educated guess, one'd rightly guess that she feels like she is owed something, and she might as well be.

She had been guiding Hitler during his reign of terror.

Sister Harriet - Hunters Season 2 Episode 6
(Amazon Studios)

She protected him when he lost. She even tried raising the Reich again in America, although she failed. And now that he is old and dying, she feels it is her right to inherit his place after he dies.

But a man as selfish as Hitler can never let anyone enjoy the fame he has, let alone a woman. He would give it to a little boy before letting her have it.

In the past, Meyer was getting all his dirty work done by the Hunters, and when Sister Harriet came with the potential location of a new hunter, he felt like he'd won the lottery.

If another person was hunting down Nazis, it was only a matter of time before they had Meyer on their list. So why not find them first?

Mindy, Lonny and Harriet - Hunters Season 2 Episode 6
(Amazon Studios)

Things became a little complicated when Sister Harriet tagged along, and Chava turned out to be a badass.

It was also possible that he didn't feel threatened by her when she was far away, but if she had agreed to join Ruth, there is a pretty solid guess on what would have become of her.

Chava knew long ago that she was never leaving hunting, not when she was alive. Her story about the first hunter she ever met and the one she fell for highlights just how deep she is into it.

She was willing to leave the love of her life to continue with this.

Chava - Hunters Season 2 Episode 6
(Amazon Studios)

She sacrificed her life to give Jonah a shot at getting Hitler; if she weren't dead, she would have said it was worth it.

Who said that Mindy was old and didn't have what it took anymore? Because they needed to see what she did with the hatch. Blew it up into tomorrow.

Chava: It’s locked from the inside. How the fuck are we going to get in?

Mindy: I got this. A little bit of C-4 should do the trick. All right. Take cover. Cover your ears! Better safe than sorry!

🔗 permalink: I got this. A little bit of C-4 should do the trick. All right. Take cover. Cover your ears!…

I expected getting into Hitler's compound to be hard, but I didn't expect him to have a village full of Nazis surrounding his mansion. The hunters all gave their all and were rewarded accordingly because Jonah got him.

There was never anything that could be done to this man that would feel even remotely calming. Six million deaths would never be enough for me to feel satisfied that justice had been served.

Joe - Hunters Season 2 Episode 6
(Amazon Studios)

The amount of suffering and death the world has seen on his account can never truly be quantified or avenged. The twisted racist rhetoric his writings and philosophy has inspired is being felt to this day forward.

Jonah would have shot him in the face, and it wouldn't feel like enough; he would have tortured him till kingdom come, and it would not have felt enough.

Jonah: You don’t deserve to choose how this ends. You need to be held accountable for the crimes that you’ve committed.

🔗 permalink: You don’t deserve to choose how this ends. You need to be held accountable for the crimes…

Jonah didn't kill him on the spot because he had heard his fiancée. Maybe the legal system would not fail him this time. Maybe that would have been his final chance at redemption. Maybe he might be able to undo his newfound comfort with committing murder.

He felt like he had done something worthwhile when the spirits of those killed looked at him approvingly.

An abduction derails the hunters' mission, but this might be just the thing that gets them Hitler.

Now down three members, the team goes after to find and hopefully rescue Clara on Hunters Season 2 Episode 5. Meyer tried to recruit one more member to his team in the past, but things didn't go exactly as planned.

Jonah faces the constant question of what the future holds for him and Clara now that everything is out in the open.

L - Jonah - Hunters Season 2 Episode 5

But before trying to answer said question, he must first rescue her from a maniac in every sense.

The team gets Joe back, but considering the trouble he has caused them, he is not received enthusiastically.

Georges - Hunters Season 2 Episode 5
(Amazon Studios)

Chava's dedication to the hunting mission came off strongly in the episode.

She was willing to let what happened to Clara happen if it meant they had to continue hunting Hitler. She was so close to victory that she could taste it.

Chava: Thirty years. Thirty years I’ve been searching for this man. We are closer now than ever. Our responsibility is to the six million, not to his shiksa girlfriend!

Jonah: I’m not gonna just let them kill her.

Chava: This is bigger than you, Jonah.

🔗 permalink: This is bigger than you, Jonah.

Dedication to a cause, especially if it is a just cause, is something to be admired. But even the most just causes require someone to step back and look at things without the blinders that develop over time when someone gets too immersed in a certain world.

Even after they found some clues about where Clara might be, she went out of her way to ask Jonah to break it up with Clara, claiming that it would be the best way that he could protect her. And maybe she was right.

But at the risk of sounding like a broken record, love doesn't care about reasoning or justification.

Lonny - Hunters Season 2 Episode 5
(Amazon Studios)

If one did not have any respect for Clara until now, and I know she didn't inspire any, coming out of this episode, one can't help but admire her.

Yes, she's chatty, rash, and maybe annoying, but that helps her.

In the true fashion of Nazis, Travis tried to convince her that what he was doing was not all that awful and, hey, look, Jonah had done worse.

Travis: You’re scared of me? You were gonna marry Jonah, and you’re scared of me? Do you know how many people he’s killed? He shot them, slit their throats, electrocuted ’em? Hell, I heard he even killed a little boy, an innocent child, just… eight years old. You, my dear, have been sharing a bed, a life with a cold-blooded murderer. You never… felt it? When he was inside you?

🔗 permalink: You’re scared of me? You were gonna marry Jonah, and you’re scared of me? Do you know how…

We learned what happened in Spain and what led to the team scattering all over the globe. Jonah accidentally killed a child. We didn't see the particulars of the accident, but it must have been pretty bad if they broke up over it.

Georges 2 - Hunters Season 2 Episode 5
(Amazon Studios)

Something developed between Millie and Sister Harriet. Honestly, did anyone anticipate or see that coming? It makes sense, however, considering how close they work and Millie's secret to Harriet.

I am a sucker for surprise ships.

The Colonel started to lose her patience with Hitler. She did something that many people do when they are close to someone with power. They also begin to get deluded into thinking that they also wield it.

Despite being old, he reminded her she should know her place and that he still has power.

Meyer's exploits lead him to Germany, where he is looking to recruit one more member for his merry band of hunters. On arrival, however, he misses the man he came to look for, and while waiting, he decides, why not visit the past?

Meyer - Hunters Season 2 Episode 5
(Amazon Studios)

He visited his former village and his family's shop. A lot has changed. They now sold pork, and his granddaughter is now all grown. She is twenty, reminding him how much time has passed.

He also gets the urge to visit his mother's grave, which betrays his identity. On being found out, why not kill one more person? He has lost count of the number he has killed so far; it doesn't affect him anymore.

Meyer: Stones… do not die. Stones do not wither. Stones are permanent, like memories.

Tomas: Like the memory of everyone that you murdered, Wilhelm.

Meyer: You think I don’t know that? If only you weren’t so good. Some ghosts need to stay hidden.

🔗 permalink: You think I don’t know that? If only you weren’t so good. Some ghosts need to stay hidden.

Ruth's instincts turn out to be correct when she snoops around Meyer's and finds his Nazi memorabilia. It was all the evidence she needed to find the wolf.

Roxy, while fighting for her life, has flashbacks into the past. In the past, she remembers the promises she had made to people close to her and how she might not get the chance to fulfill them if she died. This, and Lonny's dedication to finding her treatment, saved her from the jaws of death.

Georges 3 - Hunters Season 2 Episode 5
(Amazon Studios)

Joe's recovery from the brainwashing started with Clara. She asked him the most basic of questions, forcing him to try and figure out who he was and what he was doing there.

When she manages to run, and he follows her, he sees something that triggers a specific memory that helps unravel the brainwashing.

We had all been wondering what happened to Joe, and after seeing the fragments of his memory, I'm not sure we need to know.

Hitler must have done a number on him, which wasn't pretty.

The episode ended with the Hunters being closer to their goal than ever.

Joe: I know where Hitler is. I can take you to him.

🔗 permalink: I know where Hitler is. I can take you to him.

(Amazon (Screenshot))

And that's what doing the right thing gets you. It might not seem like it, but things finally work out. If they had opted to go on a chase to find Hitler, they might not even be close to finding him.

Moral lesson: do the right thing, and the universe will solve some of your problems.

Travis is no more. He was my favorite villain, and I will surely miss his insane antics.

There is a slight chance that what Joe is doing is what he has been programmed to do, and he might deliver them to The Fuhrer.

More wrenches in the plan.

On Hunters Season 2 Episode 4, the team is so close yet far from finding Hitler, who, without their knowledge, has already found them.

In the past, Meyer finds two more hunters while Clara, Jonah, and Chava have a family dinner.

(Amazon Studios)

All the hunters are finally back together as they reunite with Joe, but the reunion is not how they expected it to go.

Travis and Joe ambushed them, leaving one dead, one injured, and one taken.

Joe and Travis - Hunters Season 2 Episode 4
(Amazon Studios)

The hunt for the Fuhrer proved to be an uphill task. Before getting to him, there were so many people to go through. A train ticket in The Crow's bag leads them to someone with close ties to Hitler, where he might be hiding.

Assignments were given to different members, and the latest grouping saw Roxy and Lonny close. Roxy learned of Lonny's casual drug use. On confronting him, he revealed that it was his way of coping with her leaving.

Roxy: Do you know what I am putting on the line to be here? What I am risking? Why’d you even fucking come to Argentina?!

Lonny: Because of you, huh. Because you were coming! And I started with this shit when you left, okay?! Okay?!

🔗 permalink: Because of you, huh. Because you were coming! And I started with this shit when you left,…

The Colonel sent Travis and Joe to find the hunters, but Travis had concerns about Joe backsliding from the brainwashing when he saw the hunters. The Colonel was quite confident in her skills.

Jonah's worlds collided when his real life — whichever that is — bled with his fake life. Was what he has with Clara the real thing, and hunting is a side gig, or was hunting his real persona and his perfect life with Clara a front?

Ruth - Hunters Season 2 Episode 4
(Amazon Studios)

This hypothesis was tested when Clara showed up in Argentina demanding answers. She is intelligent, but I doubt she is smarter than Jonah, who managed to live a double life right under her nose.

In this latest development, he convinced her by employing a common tactic liars, cheaters, and politicians use; telling half-truths.

Clara: Who’s Millie, Sam? Are you in love with her?

Jonah: She’s an FBI agent.

Clara: An FBI agent?

Jonah: She investigated my grandmother’s murder. I flew to Los Angeles to see her because I found something about someone… Someone I had been looking for for a long time. And that person is here in Argentina.

Clara: Who?

Jonah: My grandmother’s sister Chava. My safta thought that she was the only one in her family who survived the war. Well, it turns out, I was doing my thesis research, and I came across the name of a survivor: Chava Apfelbaum.

🔗 permalink: Chava Apfelbaum.

Technically, he didn’t lie to her. He had been looking for family, that is true. He found his family in Argentina; that was also true. But the lie is that he had been looking for and found his aunt. She found him.

Not wanting to leave anything to chance, Clara did due diligence and demanded to meet the said Aunt and confirm everything herself.

Chava's advice was sound. But love doesn't listen to reason. So, Chava decided to play the dotting auntie just for the night. Or did she?

Sister Harriet and Chava - Hunters Season 2 Episode 4
(Amazon Studios)

From early on, she tried to egg Clara into letting something out that could end the relationship between her and Jonah.

When all didn't work, she set a plan that exposed Jonah's real identity to Clara. There was no way Jonah could lie his way out of that one. It was either admitting that he's a Nazi or he hunts Nazis.

I'm sure she was expecting the truth, but this was not what she had in her wildest dreams.

Chava: That is precisely what we do. We hunt Nazis and we rid them from this Earth. If Clara is to be family, she has a right to know what the family business is, Jonah. His name is Jonah, as in “and the whale.” Jonah Heidelbaum.

In the past, Meyer's team has two new members. He employed his cunning to try and get both Lonny and Sister Harriet on his team.

Lonny - Hunters Season 2 Episode 4
(Amazon Studios)

Lonny was always a lost soul; he lied to Roxy. He didn't begin using drugs after Roxy left; he always has. Meyer fed him a bullsh*t story claiming to have known his grandfather, but that was a lie. Lonny found a little purpose in his otherwise bizarre life.

Lonny: W-Wait-wait, you… you knew my grandfather?

Meyer: Not personally, no, but… But you know about him?

Lonny: Well, my-my-my father rarely spoke about him.

Meyer: Well, your grandfather was imprisoned in the camps.

🔗 permalink: Well, your grandfather was imprisoned in the camps.

Sister Harriet agreed to sign on after being promised the head of the man who killed her father. One can only assume she loved her father a lot for her to agree to this.

If one thing is clear, Meyer finds people who have or are suffering trauma. They are all misfits with nothing in common. This could be because they will be least susceptible to being made.

Chava helps fulfill Meyer's promise to Sister Harriet by helping her find the man who killed her father, but she finds a shell of a sick man staring at death.

Meyer - Hunters Season 2 Episode 4
(Amazon Studios)

Batsh*t crazy Travis found the hunters. My lord, he is so bad I admire it in my twisted way. Don't judge me.

Millie's life was unraveling in front of her. A woman dedicated to the rule of law is now on the other side. The feds have her as the prime suspect in the bishop's death.

Clara's first instinct was to run. Believing that these people with Nazi memorabilia and torture items hunt Nazis is harder to believe than that they are Nazis. But they are not lying.

When he found them, Travis had so much fun raining hell on Jonah and Clara.

Ruth - Hunters Season 2 Episode 4
(Amazon Studios)

In the next room, Mindy was sulking after being side-lined in the recent missions, but she comes alive when she hears gunshots and the action calls to her.

The meeting between George, Lonny, Roxy, and Joe was curious. Sure, we lost George, but at least he went painlessly.

Joe might not be as gone as we thought. He could have shot Roxy and Lonny clean on the head, but he hesitates when she calls out his name. He opts for the shoulder and doesn't shoot Lonny. We may get Joe back after all.

With Clara kidnapped, the timeline for getting Hitler is accelerated. George, Lonny, and Roxy's mission was a bust, so they had no more leads to go on.

It is not a plan if it doesn't hit some snags.

The hunters are captured by someone who has been watching them for a while, leading to an even bigger team. Two not-so-sweet reunions happen on Hunters Season 2 Episode 3.

Jonah meets his grandmother's sister, who is also a hunter, and they collide due to the similarities in their personalities.

L - Sister Harriet - Hunters Season 2 Episode 3
(Amazon Studios)

The now bigger team continues their hunt for Hitler while Hitler decides to get them before they get him.

Clara finds her way to Argentina because Jonah has some questions to answer.

Roxy - Hunters Season 2 Episode 3
(Amazon Studios)

Remember the mysterious lady in white who opened the episode on Hunters Season 2, Episode 1, and gouged the eyes out of a Nazi in Austria?

Well, we met Chava, hunter extraordinaire, Ruth's sister and Jonah's grandaunt.

Chava: I know she lives in you.

Jonah: Who?

Chava: Ruth.

Jonah: You … didn’t know my safta

Chava: Ruth was my sister.

Jonah: Ruth’s sister died in the camps.

Chava: Well… then I must be a ghost.

🔗 permalink: Well… then I must be a ghost.

It also seemed Sister Harriet and Chava knew each other and had been working together all along. The fact that they both were localized in Austria should have been the earliest clue.

The entry of Chava into the fold upset the delicate dynamic that existed between the hunters. Jonah had since filled the vacant seat of the leader after Meyer's death.

Jonah: I-I’m not taking orders from you, Auntie. Remember, the only reason why we’re here right now is because I found Klaus.

Chava: Oh, right. You’re Herr Leader now. You murdered Meyer to become boy king.

Jonah: I murdered The Wolf and thwarted a Fourth Reich in America.

🔗 permalink: I murdered The Wolf and thwarted a Fourth Reich in America.

Chava was the leader of the other group of hunters, and only she and George were the remaining members. This was the earliest source of conflict between the two.

Jonah - Hunters Season 2 Episode 3
(Amazon Studios)

Later on, we learned that Jonah felt a certain type of way because Chava, even after Ruth's death, never reached out to him. He suffered so much loneliness, although there was someone who could guide him on hunting and even console him.

George and Lonny struck up a friendship based on a mutual understanding of the other person. George can see through the pain Lonny is harboring while Lonny sees how good-looking George is. See, very understanding.

Even with the frail state of affairs in the group, the hunt for Hitler doesn't stop.

But now that they had nearly messed up, they had to find the next steps. Chava was a welcome addition to the group because she prevents their accidental murdering streak, which messes things up.

Sister Harriet - Hunters Season 2 Episode 3
(Amazon Studios)

The next person who could have led to Hitler was someone named The Crow.

Chava: He’s the Reich’s chief assassin.

🔗 permalink: He’s the Reich’s chief assassin.

The Crow was supposed to take the briefcase from Klaus and go with it to meet Hitler. So, to get Hitler, act like everything is normal, set the case where it can be easily picked, and follow whoever picks it. Hopefully, they take it to The Crow.

Meyer is very spooked in the past and now sets his purpose on finding any ex-Nazi who might know who he is and kill them. He finds one with a folder containing information about him and kills him.

But this confirmed his fears that he might not be as anonymous as he thought. Will this inform him to make the team dedicated to hunting and killing all ex-Nazis in North America?

Lonny - Hunters Season 2 Episode 3
(Amazon Studios)

Duties were divided. The four ladies track down The Crow's security. George and Lonny watch the briefcase to see who picks it while Jonah and Chava try to identify the one who could be The Crow.

The ladies were nearly overpowered because that man was huge. Mindy felt underappreciated just because she was old. Can't wait until she proves them wrong.

George, on the other hand, has been saddled with a dopehead. Lonny is starting to suffer withdrawal since they hadn't used in a while. He is impatient, erratic, and paranoid. He freaked out when they were in the sauna when he was most needed.

The moral lesson is never to take a drug addict to a brawl because they might be the final front to protect you from death, and you will most likely be killed.

Meyer - Hunters Season 2 Episode 3
(Amazon Studios)

Jonah and Chava partook in a game of testing wits. They tried to avoid the emotions running through them by trying to identify The Crow. And even when they do, none of them tells the other person that they have.

It was a dangerous game they were playing here. Trust is needed in a team, and they don't trust each other.

Millie developed another problem when she lost something valuable in the showdown between the ladies and The Crow's security guy. It was an important item that could incriminate her in the murder of the bishop and send her to prison.

Hitler, on the other hand, had a play to make. He had been keeping tabs on the hunters' whereabouts, and now, with all the people they had killed in Argentina, they outed their whereabouts. It wasn't that hard to find them when  all they did was leave a trail of Nazis

Millie and Roxy - Hunters Season 2 Episode 3
(Amazon Studios)

He wouldn't wait for them to find him first. With two very dangerous men in his arsenal, why not get them first?

Hitler: Are you ready, Joe? This is what we’ve been preparing for. Find them. And bring me their scalps. The Hunters.

🔗 permalink: Are you ready, Joe? This is what we’ve been preparing for. Find them. And bring me their…

At the same time, Jonah's fiancée found him in the hotel in Argentina. Unknowingly, she had inserted herself into a very dangerous situation with all that was happening.

How will Jonah get out of this?

It is time to get the band back together because Hitler is on the menu.

Jonah and Millie focus on getting the hunters back together so that they can hunt down Hitler on Hunters Season 2 Episode 2.

On Hunters Season 2 Episode 1, we only focused on the lives of two hunters and got a rough idea of where the third one is.

L - Sister Harriet - Hunters Season 2 Episode 2
(Amazon Studios)

Jonah knows hunting and stalking a single Nazi and then killing him is easier than tracking down Hitler.

I mean, it's not that hard to follow and overpower older men and women who, despite being quite dangerous, have now become weak physically and mentally and let their guards down.

Jonah - Hunters Season 2 Episode 2
(Amazon Studios)

Hitler's whereabouts would not be easy to find. It must be the biggest and most guarded secret by those who still like him and sympathize with his misguided cause.

Finding Millie would be easier than finding the rest of the team. And oh man, did Jonah get lucky.

He found her when she was very vulnerable and questioning her entire method of bringing Nazis to justice. She had just murdered a man and witnessed first-hand how unreliable the justice system can be.

Millie: You don’t really believe…

Jonah: He claimed Hitler fled Europe via ratline and was living down in South America.

Millie: And what proof did he have?

Jonah: We met the proof.

Millie: The Colonel? Bullshit.

🔗 permalink: The Colonel? Bullshit.

Convincing her that Hitler was alive was not that hard of a task. Having her by his side would also legitimize his claim and help approach them because he is not their favorite person.

Sister Harriet was playing a role in Austria. That of a dedicated nanny. But her biggest target was not winning over the hearts of those sweet children. It is their father. He is dirty-minded as he is an awful human.

Millie - Hunters Season 2 Episode 2
(Amazon Studios)

I wish she had been subtle about murdering him because those children are scarred for life. To witness a homicide at such a young age…

Lonny's film career was surviving. He had developed a taste for hard drugs, which might be a way to cope with not having Roxy in his life. The justification doesn't matter because we all know that drug addicts cannot be relied upon, whether by their fault or not.

They should take him to rehab first.

Roxy had found an unconventional method to earn a living. She was painting fake Van Goughs. Too bad she is better than he was.

Roxy - Hunters Season 2 Episode 2
(Amazon Studios)

Mindy was waiting to be called upon. She is bored with life in New York.

Sister Harriet a delight, as usual.

Sister Harriet: What’ll it be? Suffocation? Strangulation? Skull up the a**?

Jonah: I love it when you try to flirt.

🔗 permalink: I love it when you try to flirt.

In the past, Meyer had eliminated the first threat to his identity, but he had a feeling that this was not the last person who knew who he was. If one Nazi could recognize him, many others they worked with would recognize him.

What if another one is desperate enough to try and blackmail him?

Lonny - Hunters Season 2 Episode 2
(Amazon Studios)

His guardian angel must have been working overtime because, in his most desperate state, Joe falls on his lap like a godsend.

Joe never stood a chance against someone like Meyer.

Meyer: I don’t stand for violence. This is a palace of invention, not destruction. And I will not employ savages…

Joe: Mr. Offerman, I can’t afford to lose another job.

Meyer: This is why I fired the three heathens who attacked you.

Joe: Sir?

Meyer: And I’m very sorry for what they did to you.

🔗 permalink: And I’m very sorry for what they did to you.

When we — and Meyer — meet Joe, he is barely hanging on. Racism is not masked then as it is now. His co-workers attack him for an accident that could very well happen to any one of them.

He was lucky to be trained in martial arts because they would have f*cked him up.

Meyer had Joe on the hook using his theatrical voice and perfect delivery of words while masking intentions. Few people would have shown him such kindness, as I'm sure he interpreted it then, least of all an older white man.

Mindy - Hunters Season 2 Episode 2
(Amazon Studios)

Meyer already had a bullsh*t narrative to feed him. And with one hunter in the bag, he was ready to start his act.

One of my favorite characters in the show is Travis. Yes, yes, yes, I know he's a deranged Nazi, but he is an entertaining kind of deranged. Two years on, I haven't gotten over the scene where he kills Tobias in Hunters Season 1.

Greg Austin does a great job with the character; it's almost unbelievable he is our little alien prince Charlie on Doctor Who's Class. He has always been deranged. Who tastes fifty flavors?

He knows no bounds. Two good guys sneak him into Argentina, and what does he do? Kills them in cold blood. There was zero chance those could clock him.]

With the hunters back together sans Joe, they didn't waste any time starting their mission to find Hitler. But to get to Hitler, they had to find The Colonel; before finding the Colonel, they must find people who knew her.

Chava - Hunters Season 2 Episode 2
(Amazon)

Who's better than a high-ranking Argentinian official?

Hitler might be Jonah's biggest problem, but another one was coming for him out of Paris. His fiancée had sensed quite early on then he might be lying to her. It doesn't take a genius to figure out what she might think about finding an address and a girl's name on her fiancé's notepad.

Travis arrived at Hitler's residence and was met at the gate by Joe. What did The Colonel do to Joe? She is not someone to be underestimated. She has old man Hitler on a leash, has managed to break Joe, and holds Travis by the balls.

Travis: I mean, I am dying to know. What did they do to you? Because you have undergone a real transformation, friend.

Welcome back!

The hunters have since disbanded, and everyone is doing their own thing on Hunters Season 2 Episode 1.

Jonah is in Paris, Millie is pursuing her career in the FBI, in flashbacks, some events rattle Meyer, and finally, Hitler is alive and well.

L - Meyer - Hunters Season 2 Episode 1
(Amazon Studios)

The episode introduced us to someone we didn't know, but she was doing the job the hunters have since decided to take on solo.

The episode alternated between the past and the present day. That way, we got to have Al Pacino back as the talkative, disarming, manipulative anti-hero we came to know.

Millie 3 - Hunters Season 2 Episode 1
(Amazon Studios)

In 1979, Meyer was very much dead.

It wasn't clear how the show would look without Al Pacino because if there were two cast members that viewers tuned in for, it was Al Pacino and Logan Lerman.

Lucky for us, they found a way to bring Al Pacino back after that explosive season finale on Hunters Season 1 Episode 9.

Meyer: Oh, come on, my friends. You look as if you’ve seen a ghost.

🔗 permalink: Oh, come on, my friends. You look as if you’ve seen a ghost.

Jonah spending his evenings in a brothel was something that was at first shocking before we got the whole picture. What happened to our boy?

He has grown so much from the little boy in New York whose biggest problem was hanging out with his friends to the man in front of us with long hair and a full beard. Admittedly he did look great with that hair and the beard.

Millie 2 - Hunters Season 2 Episode 1
(Amazon Studios)

Spending your evenings in an establishment in Paris sounds good until you find yourself in a brothel, spying on some of the most private moments in people's lives and maybe being disgusted by a thing or two that you see.

Biff: Wait, wait, wait. You don’t want to kill me. Believe me.

Jonah: Why not?

Biff: Because I-I-I can give you something. Someone. Someone far bigger than me.

Jonah: Eh, You’re enough. After you, I’m done.

Biff: The biggest prize you could imagine. Adolf Hitler.

🔗 permalink: The biggest prize you could imagine. Adolf Hitler.

Jonah also had made a life for himself in Paris with a gorgeous, well-educated, and intelligent girl. He was living the life.

On the other end of the world, Millie had decided to go on the straight and narrow. That meant that her hunt for Nazis was to be done within the confines of the law.

When it works, the law can be your greatest ally. When it doesn't, it can be the most frustrating thing ever. Here is a man who had done some of the most despicable things that a human being can do to another.

Jonah - Hunters Season 2 Episode 1
(Amazon Studios)

One could hear the pain and anguish the witnesses in the courtroom were carrying in their voices, but the judge disregarded all that because the charges levied against the bishop couldn't be proven.

It was evident that man was evil through and through. There were so many tells in the way he acted. When Millie introduced herself as a fed, the horrendous scream he let out screamed guilty. An innocent person would be shocked.

In the courtroom, he winked at Millie when he realized he might get off scot-free of the charges levied against him.

But the biggest evidence against him is Millie's case. She had spent years putting it together, finding eyewitnesses, and presenting it in court.

This turn of events reminded her that some people, despite how evil they might be, will never be able to get what they deserve through the halls of legal proceedings. They need justice from people who have personal stakes in seeing them dead.

Chava Closeup - Hunters Season 2 Episode 1
(Amazon Studios)

She never thought she might do what the hunters do, considering how much she trusts the rule of law.

And I couldn't blame her for killing the bishop. In fact, he died too easily. He deserved some suffering before he met his death.

There is no trust among thieves and Nazis, apparently. Faced with death, Biff ratted Hitler out like he was just a common thief. Who would have thought that Hitler would relocate to South America?

Jonah: If he was even alive, why would you give him up?

Biff: Uh, you think I’m a man of honor? I’m a cockroach.

🔗 permalink: Uh, you think I’m a man of honor? I’m a cockroach.

I guess beggars can not be choosers. I would have pegged him holed up somewhere in a Scandinavian country surrounded by the race he thinks is superior.

Mille 1 - Hunters Season 2 Episode 1
(Amazon Studios)

We all wondered how Meyer managed to stay under the radar for so long. In flashbacks, we see the beginning of his anti-hero journey, and it all begins with a letter from someone who knew of his former identity as a Nazi.

He had convinced everyone, his sister included, that he had died. He called her to try and eliminate the source of the letter.

On Jonah's front, he might be lucky to have Clara but also unlucky. She is smart. When he lied that he was going to Israel for research, she believed him, but that moment didn't pass without suspicion when he claimed that he didn't know a Meyer.

The name could also be mistaken for Maya since they both are onomatopoeic. Maybe she thought he was cheating on her.

Hitler - Hunters Season 2 Episode 1
(Amazon (Screenshot))

Meyer killed the man who sent the letter, but he didn't let his guard down because if one person knew who he was, chances are there were others.

Meyer: Wolves can smell each other from miles away. But, you know, come to think of it, I cannot smell you at all.

🔗 permalink: Wolves can smell each other from miles away. But, you know, come to think of it, I cannot…

In a surprising turn of events, Joe was working for Hitler. What happened to him?

This was a strong season premiere as it doesn't waste time setting up the narrative and the story for the rest of the season.

The hunters have a reason to band together because the biggest fish is theirs to catch. Millie has a reason to drop her holier-than-thou attitude and join them.

On Hunters Season 2 Episode 8, Hitler's trial begins on the world stage. Jonah attempts to salvage his former life with Clara. Ruth's fate is sealed when she discovers Meyer's true identity. Series Finale.

Jonah tries to reach out to Clara while simultaneously forming an international tribunal to try and deliver justice to Hitler and his victims.

Meyer, Ruth, and Harriet find the Nazi Ruth has been looking for. Ruth's suspicions about Meyer are confirmed when she looks at his scars; they don't match. Meyer gets spooked when he realizes Ruth might have found him.

Hitler's trial begins. The Colonel and Travis — who survived the gunshot — watch the proceedings on TV. Clara too. Unknown people are working on a plan.

Opening statements begin with high emotions, especially when Hitler's attorney is a Jew.

Witnesses from all walks of life bear their witness. The prosecution is having a hard time with the case since the defense raises many objections to the line of questioning. There is also concern that one of the justices has Nazi ties.

Victims – including Mindy — tell their stories but not with ease. At specific points, Hitler and his lawyer disagree, and he threatens to fire the lawyer.

Ruth finally confirms that Meyer is a fraud, but Meyer has another plan in action. He calls a former Nazi, tells him that he is about to be found out, and gives him Ruth's home address.

Benjamin — Hitler's lawyer — exhausts his options leading to one final play. He puts Hitler on the stand, much to the prosecution's opposition.

Hitler's witness is interesting, to put it mildly. The prosecution finally gets under Hitler's skin, and he reveals his true colors.

The trial concludes, and the verdict is in. Hitler was found guilty of all the charges levied against him.

The hunters had been strategically following the events and sensed something was amiss. Jonah finds out that Hitler may have an escape plan, and he indeed does.

The plan involves faking a medical emergency, and when being transported to the hospital, he is saved by his people. Jonah follows the motorcade transporting him to the hospital and gets thought when they blow up the road to lose the cops behind.

Hitler is delivered to The Colonel and Travis. The Colonel wants Hitler to name her his successor, but Travis wants it too. Travis kills The Colonel and tries to get Hitler to safety.

Jonah finds them, and a shootout ensues, considering Travis has an army. Jonah is nearly overpowered before Joe finds him and helps him.

The police arrive, Hitler is arrested again, and Travis escapes.

Jonah wakes up in a hospital and finds Clara looking after him.

Millie receives a call from the government, and they want to honor her and drop the charges levied against her for the murder of the bishop.

Everyone is at Jonah and Clara's wedding. Roxy and Lonny are on good terms. Joe is happy someplace.

Hitler is rotting in prison.

Sister Harriet shows Jonah evidence of what Meyer did to Ruth before he introduced himself to Jonah. She wants him to continue hunting because there still are Nazis out and about.

Jonah takes Clara to Miami for a vacation, and as they enjoy their time, he sets his sights on a man who appears to be a Nazi.

Jonah tries to get Hitler out of Argentina and to Germany. As they trek the terrain in Argentina, Jonah tells him a story.

The story is about an odd old couple in a house somewhere in Germany. They spend their days doing mundane stuff, and the husband makes his little houses. They play little games and talk to themselves, appreciating each other's company.

They also seem deluded as they talk to a third party one cannot see and utter some nonsensible stuff.

One day, three Nazi guards knock on their door.

The soldiers interrogate them about the ownership of their house and some other stuff, and the husband reveals they built the house themselves. The husband is a former architect and designed buildings for The Reich.

The soldiers reveal that they are here on an inquiry about a tip they received that the couple might be harboring some Jews. The couple invites them to check the house for any Jews. The soldiers reveal that they are working on some information that some shopping the couple makes doesn't add up.

Two soldiers decide to check the house out, leaving the third to look after the couple. The two soldiers stumble across hidden compartments in the house that leads to secret hidden places.

Downstairs, the third soldier reveals that before he joined The Reich, he once studied to be an architect.

He snoops around the house and questions the couple about their life.

One soldier stumbles across a hidden path that leads to the basement. In the basement, flowers are everywhere, and a child is crouched at the far end. He rushes after it, triggering a booby trap that kills him.

The other soldier stumbles across a trap door that leads to the artic, and up there, he also finds a lot of flowers. He also triggers a booby trap and is killed.

Both of their screams alert the soldier downstairs of trouble. Hugo — the soldier, reveals that he can see something that doesn't add up about the house. Some wood is younger than the rest, and the house measurements don't add up in some places.

He suspects that the walls are fake and accuses the couple of harboring Jews. He takes out a gun and starts shooting the wall. He injures a kid hiding in the wall before the couple kills him and dumps all their bodies in a nearby lake.

They clean the house up.

It is revealed that the couple had been hiding people in the walls all along. In the ceiling, there are people hidden there too. On the floor, there are people hidden in there.

It is the people there that they had been talking to all along, teaching them how the traps in the house operate and how to activate them in case of trouble.

A week later, a new trio of Nazis arrives at their compound. They are all looking for the other Nazis who never arrived where they were expected. The couple does their routine but says that the Nazis were there, but they left.

This new group searches the house and comes up empty but ends up killing the couple because one of them wants the house and wants to pin the disappearance of the other three soldiers on them.

The soldier and his family move in. Days pass, and the people in the walls start depleting their food supply. A kid is sent to steal some from the fridge, and he runs into trouble when the soldier's kid walks in on him.

The Jews in the wall abduct the kid and use him to trap and kill his parents. They take over the house. Anticipating that the Reich will send someone over, they craft a narrative.

As expected, someone is sent, and they nearly fool him before the soldier's kid gets loose and botches their plan. It forces them to activate all the traps when soldiers descend upon the house.

The children manage to escape, but the adults don't when the house catches fire.

One of the children who escaped grows.

He is Chava's lover and takes Hitler and smuggles him out of Argentina safely for Jonah.
