The reboot no one ever wanted to see as received a green light at NBC.
The network confirmed via promo (below) last night that "Heroes Reborn" will air 13 episodes in 2015, telling a standalone story that will once again be written by Heroes creator Tim Kring.
No details regarding the plot or characters have been released, but a Web series will precede the television series and give us an idea of what to expect.
The idea of Heroes being revived was first broached about a year ago but not taken too seriously because… come on. Few shows on TV history have burned out as quickly and terribly as this one.
“The enormous impact Heroes had on the television landscape when it first launched in 2006 was eye-opening,” NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke said in announcing the project. “Shows with that kind of resonance don’t come around often and we thought it was time for another installment.
“Until we get closer to air in 2015, the show will be appropriately shrouded in secrecy, but we won’t rule out the possibility of some of the show’s original cast members popping back in.”
