Halt and Catch Fire Season 4 Episode 8 Recap: Goodwill

We’re treated to a flashback to Gordon and Donna at the beginning of their marriage with Joanie at three months. They’re living in San Francisco. Donna’s parents had just visited after the Fourth of July. They’re at an impass on what to do for the future.

In the present, Cam and Joe show up at Gordon’s house to help Donna and the girls pack up Gordon’s house.

Donna puts on Dire Straits. You’re So Far Away from Me rings throughout the house as those left behind attempt to pack away the life of a man they loved

Joe finds a book half read. They all find something to remind them.

Joanie eventually flips out at Donna for not understanding why she doesn’t want to go to college, and it’s the fight of the day. Cam intercedes. Joanie hopes to stay with Cam.

Haley wanted Gordon’s green sweater, so Joe takes her to Good Will to retrieve it.

Donna and Cam talk about Pilgrim.

Joe and Haley pull off a heist while Katie shows up at Gordon’s. She’s moving to Seattle, but hopes Joe isn’t giving up up Comet. She tells Cam how much he loves it.

Katie shares with Donna how jealous she was of her because she wanted Gordon so much, but Donna already has free wheeling sideburns Gordon and who knows what else?

Boz brought food and entices a Joe drowning in grief to eat.

Cameron and Donna connect over Cam’s grief in losing a friend when she doesn’t know how to make many connections. She also admits she can’t talk to Joe because they aren’t in the same place, and she’ll never want kids.

Joe is unable to forgive himself for getting the wrong bag from Good Will.
