Sad news out of Hollywood today.

Lisa Sheridan, a popular actress who is probably best known for her stint on Halt and Catch Fire, passed away on Monday.

She was 44 years old.

The heartbreaking news was confirmed to People Magazine by Sheridan's manager, Mitch Clem.

“We all loved Lisa very much and are devastated by the loss we all feel,” Clem revealed, adding:

“She passed away Monday morning, at home, in her apartment in New Orleans. We are waiting for a coroners report on cause of death.”

There's no word yet on the cause of death, but Clem went on to state that the actress did not take her own life.

“The family has unequivocally confirmed that this is not a suicide. Any suggestion to the contrary is absolutely, 100% unfounded," he said.

Sheridan is a seasoned TV veteran who has appeared in many hit series over the years.

She appeared on shows such as Invasion, CSI, The Mentalist, and even The 4400.

Her Only God Can co-star Donna D'Errico weighed in on the stunning death on Facebook

This is what she said:

I just received news that my dear friend, actress Lisa Sheridan, has passed away. She was found Monday morning.

I am sitting here stunned. Lisa and I filmed a movie together 5 years ago and became very close on set and remained close friends after filming ended.

It’s so rare to find kind, gentle souls like hers in this industry, this city…even this world. Truly one of the most genuinely sweet and gentle people I’ve ever come across in my life.

She brought a sweetness and bright energy to any room she happened to walk into…even in her darker times.

I am devastated by this loss. I had just spoken with her and everything seemed great and she seemed happy and in good spirits.

Everyone who knew her loved and adored her. Goodbye and goodnight sweet angel…I will miss you terribly. Please send up prayers for her family.

We extend our thoughts and prayers to Sheridan's friends and family during this difficult time.

The Halt and Catch Fire Series Finale chooses a path of hope for each of its characters. Where did they end up and where will they go? Our thoughts.

The post Halt and Catch Fire Series Finale Review: Destination Unknown appeared first on TV Fanatic.

Finales can be very final. Sometimes we crave that finality and feel the need to visualize the end for characters we've grown to love.

That's not the kind of world we've lived in for four seasons, and beginning with Halt and Catch Fire Season 4 Episode 9, instead of an ending, we saw the beginning of a new chapter.

Now that the cages of the sometimes angsty characters we've followed have been rattled by the death of Gordon Clark, they've received the message. Life is short. Too short to let relationships drag them down, friendships hang in the balance, or work overshadow what should be a life well lived.

Partners Forever - Halt and Catch Fire Season 4 Episode 10
(AMC)

Joe MacMillan first strode onto the scene with big dreams and visions of a bigger future, but he also saw the best in everyone around him and for better or worse, wanted to them to achieve their best so he could use their talents to capture his dreams.

Did Joe ever expect to fall in love with so many of the people he originally only intended to use? Probably not, but there was no better indication of Joe's incredible journey than peering around his office in the final scene of Halt and Catch Fire Season 4 Episode 10.

At the same time Joe was dragging Gordon into his risky existence, Donna's heart was broken to think Gordon might give up his stable career to poke around with some guy he barely knew because his job "wasn't enough."

Celebrating - Halt and Catch Fire
(AMC)

Yet as Halt and Catch Fire draws to a close, that's exactly where we found Donna.

After Gordon's death, she's realized she could either make herself happy swimming her life away or she could risk it all again to relive the best years of her life – the years she spent working with Cameron at Mutiny.

It was hard hearing they'd had so little time to rebuild their relationship after they reconnected, but their lives were full without each other. Finding time to catch up amidst demanding jobs with children and lovers isn't easy.

But when Cameron began stretching her goodbye visit on her drive out of town into an afternoon-to-evening affair, the stalling was evident on both sides.

Cameron initially thought she was on a quest to find Joe. Was she finished loving him? Why did he leave without saying goodbye? Instead, she found the remains of the most solid and supportive relationship she'd ever experienced.

(Bob Mahoney/AMC)

For so long, Donna and Cameron both wanted the other to admit how much they were needed.

Their stubborn (and similar) nature was the only thing driving a wedge between them. They have the drive to succeed without the help of others, even their partner, and closest friend.

Whether or not that will remain the cast now that they've realized how much they want to work together again, how much they've needed to work together and never should have stopped what could have been a thriving partnership if not for their inability to properly communicate we will never know.

An Idea - Halt and Catch Fire Season 4 Episode 10
(AMC)

But I'd like to think they've matured enough that the pain they've experienced without each other to lean on during some incredibly painful times will continue to remind them how lucky they are to have someone at their side who understands them, works well with them, and is ultimately willing to forgive.

With their bond stronger, they'll also be available for Joanie and Haley.

Joanie went around the world and found Budda, as well as her father's presence residing next to a face inside some tree roots before she realized it's her similarity to her mother that has kept them at arm's length for so long.

The Clarks - Halt and Catch Fire Season 4 Episode 10
(Bob Mahoney/AMC)

The girls can use some stability in their world, and their appreciation of Cameron has never gone unnoticed.

Cam and Donna finally had a conversation about Haley and her possible budding homosexuality.

Donna: You know sometimes I think maybe…

Cameron: Haley’s gay?

Donna: Yeah.

Cameron: Yeah.

Donna: You know, these girls are…amazing.

🔗 permalink: You know, these girls are…amazing.

There was so much budding with Haley as a result of the turmoil in her life, and she threw her sexuality out the window at her first rejection, rather taking to wearing makeup and skirts, even getting a boyfriend.

Haley, who was the de facto founder of Comet, lost her interest in it after Gordon's death. Joe never lost sight of Haley's moods and was eager to please her, to bring her out of her doldrums.

What Was - Halt and Catch Fire Season 4 Episode 10
(AMC)

Haley's rejection of Joe coincided with the introduction of the Yahoo toolbar button on Netscape and the demise of Comet.

The world has to be falling apart for Joe to head off to a fortune teller, but hearing his fortune, getting the Ten of Swords, seeing total destruction except for the glimmer of hope behind it brought everything full circle.

21st Century - Halt and Catch Fire Season 4 Episode 10
(AMC)

Throughout the finale, there were callbacks to where we've been. Bos was still worried about his health and almost shocked at his discovery he'd likely live to see the 21st Century with its futuristic gizmos and missions to Mars.

Still, he yearns for the simpler times of the past like so many of us who have been around long enough for a comparison.

He may have access to state of the art television sets, but Bos can still find beauty in a clean garage and a clean, vintage Cardiff radio so he can dance with the woman he loves.

Start Living - Halt and Catch Fire Season 4 Episode 10
(Bob Mahoney/AMC)

As the futures of Cameron and Donna, Bos and Diane started to grow clearer, it was Joe who left for the East Coast, destination unknown. Cameron imagined him right back where he started, in his hometown on Armonk, swimming with the big fishes once again at IBM. After all, his letter to Haley was postmarked Armonk.

They tried to make their love work, and Cameron's even fleeting belief that Joe would return to that life is proof they were wrong for each other no matter how deeply Joe wanted to make it work with her.

Joe's introspection after Gordon's death had led him down many different paths. He recalled one of the first articles he'd read from Gordon, the one that sparked his interest and created a partnership and friendship that would shape his life for years to come.

Joe: The thing that gets you to the thing.

Cameron: Huh?

Joe: It was you. It was always you.

🔗 permalink: It was you. It was always you.

Cameron didn't get the reference, but seeing Joe's office as what I assume is a professor in a humanities department near his hometown confirms what he took away from his years as either a visionary or a fraud (and is any visionary not also a fraud at least part of the time?) is a deep love and respect for those he met.

The Uncertain Future - Halt and Catch Fire
(AMC)

His environment was one of comfort, surrounding him with everything he loved from companies where he worked to people he helped shape and vice versa.

Gordon and Haley had the prime real estate on his desk, and with his innate ability to bring out of everyone in his path their very best (even if he might have been at his worst), he couldn't have chosen better people to watch over him while he now shapes the minds of the future.

Joe: Let me start by asking a question.

🔗 permalink: Let me start by asking a question.

The end isn't as violent as the beginning. Joe isn't the smart-ass upstart he once was, taking everything and everyone for granted. He paid the price of admission to his life many times over, but the smile on his face as he looks at the generation who will take his place says he regrets nothing.

If you want to relive the magic, you can watch Halt and Catch Fire online. It's been a pleasure spending the last two years with you. Until the next gem comes along…

Donna is working on the couch watching Bob who teaches you how to paint on PBS when the phone rings. It’s Joanie. She has news about a German guy named Otto. He took her somewhere, and she’s sharing a story about a Buddah and how it was transformative leading her to dad. She’s teary and Donna thinks the story is beautiful, especially when Joanie suggests the reason she and Donna fight all the time is because they’re so similar.

Joe is closing down Comet saying goodbye to his employees with hugs, recalling conversations with Gordon. In particular, when Gordon said he liked this place and Joe replied, I know it doesn’t feel like it now, but it’s just the start of something.

Joe goes to a palm reader. The first thing she does is rub some sauce from her sandwich on his large palm. He’s not impressed. He tells Denise he doesn’t want softballs. He’s there to talk Destiny. When her kid comes in to talk nachos, he almost leaves, but she wants to give him his card reading.

She’s straight up about his future of destruction but points out the golden horizon behind it. He buys a pack, almost gets run over in the road and runs into an old friend who says not only did most of his peers really come to trust his finger in the wind, but he can’t wait to see what he does next.

Donna swims a lot. She enters work with a smile. Her company, Symphonic Ventures, has a logo that looks a lot like many others we’ve come to know, four recognizable colors. The workplace is fun and inventive. She begins working in jeans, delivering lunches to her groups.

Alexa isn’t enjoying Cameron’s company on an overseas trip. She gets home and has a chat with Bos, who gives her the pep talk she needs to move on.

Cameron is shocked to discover Joe is gone. Donna got a call from Joe and Haley received a letter. Donna is getting ready for a party and feels out of sorts. They never got to hang out and reconnect on a greater level after they made up.

Haley pops in with her boyfriend. She’s attempting to fit in. When she screams from her room, Donna and Cameron head in to rescue her.

When Haley comes home, she decides to summarize Joe’s letter for Cameron since Cam said she loved him. When Cam sees Joe went home to the town where IBM is, she decides it’s time to get on the road.

Donna gives a beautiful speech to all of the women at her party. Before leaving, Cameron makes a wrong turn and falls into the pool.

They talk about being friends, and after discussing the possibility Haley is gay, Cameron takes Donna to Comet’s offices.

They imagine what could have been if they’d gone into business together with a company called Phoenix, but eventually go to breakfast and say goodbye. That is, until Donna is paying her bill at the diner. She has an idea.

Joe is out of the world he thought he loved so much. Instead, he’s teaching Humanities. His office is filled with photos and relics of everything he’s ever loved. He addresses his class with, “Let me start by asking a question.”

Joe shows the team his Comet commercial. What are you looking for? It’s a new way of connecting. A new way of being.

Comet is no longer a journey on the way to something else, but they are a destination.

Cameron helped them make the relaunch what it is, and this day is the last she’ll be there as it is relaunch day.

Joe gives a beautiful speech remembering the importance of the Clark family, tears in his eyes.

Joanie is traveling, going overseas to stay in hostels. She turns down a Louis Vitton wallet, offering her sister the keys to her civic and her old license.

Donna begs her to stay, but Joanie says it’s bullshit, secretly hiding a smile on her face.

A fully bearded John Bosworth is at the doctor’s office for a checkup. Despite the fact John’s blood pressure is 107/110, he’s sent on his way to live well into the 21st centure without the need for a return visit.

He feels like he’s been given a ticket to the moon, if the music is any indication. The way he repeats 21st Century confirms it.

Joe asks Cameron for one more favor. Can she tear apart the Comet code so they can have the fastest product on Netscape? He bribes her with a standalone Centipede game, and she reluctantly agrees.

Donna wanted the summer with the girls, but it’s been four months and now that one of their girls is pregnant, it’s time for her to either take the managing partner job or allow them to move onto another candidate.

Diane is moved to learn John is going to be OK. He’s been so fascinated to learn he’s going to see jet packs that he didn’t think about how his clean bill of health would affect her.

Alexa gets the copy of Netscape for Cameron. Cameron promises it’s seriously the last thing she’ll be doing and looks sadly at Joe in his office.

Cam and Joe have dinner with Donna and Haley, discussing their most disgusting dinners ever. Joe can’t help but notice Haley has disappeared into herself again and isn’t participating in the discussion.

Haley perks up only when Cameron asks about Joanie, and Haley talks about her big sister’s travels. When Donna reveals Joanie only talked to Haley, Joe lets the women talk and takes Haley into the other room to show her the commercial.

Haley hates everything. She hates that her dad is dead, that Joe made the commercial, that he wants to lunch and catch up, that he put her in the commercial without asking, that he took something she made and made it his own and only thinks about money and everything else. Joe is torn apart and wants to pull the ad.

Donna and Haley connect after the dinner, laughing over Donna’s excessive swimming.

Donna helps Bos fix the Cardiff radio he found in Diane’s garage. She wonders why the rush, and he reveals he’s been thinking about his father who died seven years earlier than the age he is now.

Haley is at the restaurant jamming in the car, working up the confidence to ask out the girl she’s crushing on. She asks her to Natural Born Killers in a terrifying way only to leave the restaurant crying. Life is full of disappointments, and she just experienced her first.

Bos has the garage cleaned and organized. Now he wants to do some actual living with his wife. They begin dancing to the Cardiff radio.

While they’re getting closer to what Comet should be, Cameron and Joe discover Yahoo. They’re on Netscape’s toolbar. Comet doesn’t exist. Just then, Gordon’s watch alarm goes off, and Joe smashes the office door to get the watch.

There is little sleeping in their house that night. Between Cameron’s email to Alexa and Yahoo, it’s stressful, still, they face each other, hold hands and begin to make love. The tears streaming down Cameron’s face prove it’s more than just another night between two lovers.

The next morning, Cameron breaks up with Joe. He admits it was alway her. The thing.

Donna shows up at the office to a round of applause.

Haley gets onto her computer and begins working. On Yahoo?

Joe plays Centipede with glassy eyes.

Tripp gives Donna the news about Comet and Yahoo. She thinks any company called Yahoo with a question mark is hilarious, and brings Tripp in on the joke. She kind of goes a little bit nuts, laughing her ass off at work.

In the aftermath of Gordon's death, friends gather to help family and say goodbye on Halt and Catch Fire Season 4 Episode 8. How are they handling their grief?

The post Halt and Catch Fire Season 4 Episode 8 Review: Goodwill appeared first on TV Fanatic.

Nobody handles grief in the same way, and on Halt and Catch Fire Season 4 Episode 8 it was manifesting itself in some interesting ways.

Unfortunately, if anyone else had passed, Gordon would have been their person to lean on, but as their rock disappeared, it made the struggle to deal in the wake of his loss that much more challenging.

Lady of the Manor - Halt and Catch Fire Season 4 Episode 8
(Tina Rowden/AMC)

While I'm sure many of us would have welcomed the opportunity to be a part of Gordon's memorial service, not only to pay our respects to the character once more, but to get in another crying jag with the help of a show that can make the most of an emotional moment, there simply wasn't time.

We can imagine how it went, and it was likely similar to everyone's appearance at Gordon's door. It was a lovely service, but we're all doing terrible. Joe didn't need to ask how anyone was to know the answer; he was just being polite.

In fact, the more time the survivors spent together, the harder it seemed to get. There are so many beautiful memories of Gordon they's simply overwhelming.

Could the same have been said of anybody else if they'd have died? Probably not. The relationship Donna, Joe, Cameron, Boz, Katie, and Gordon's kids had with him was each so unique and delightful in its own way they didn't know how share their loss.

Fighting - Halt and Catch Fire
(AMC)

There are both good and bad experiences coming as a result of Gordon's death, as well. I thought it might be inevitable that the magnitude of the loss could drive Donna and Cameron to their senses. In a way, it has.

Donna: I finished the game.

Cam: What game?

Donna: The game. Your game. Pilgram.

Cam: Of course you did. I made it for people like you.

🔗 permalink: Of course you did. I made it for people like you.

Not only did it give Donna the opportunity to share with Cameron she'd finished Pilgrim, but they also bonded over their lost friendship with Gordon.

Donna: I miss him.

Cameron: So do I.

Donna: I miss you, too.

Cameron: I’m here.

🔗 permalink: I miss you too. I’m here.

And it was through their discussion that what's been going on in the wake of Gordon's death between Cameron and Joe has come to light.

Donna is right that her girls light up when Joe is in the room. They've connected with him, and Joe enjoys the connection. It reinforces how much he wants to become a father. And his behavior with the girls reinforces how much Cameron doesn't want to be a mother even if the ending of her game led to a child.

Some women have always wanted families, others have not.

So when they need each other the most, Cameron and Joe are at an impasse in their relationship. They aren't comforting one another as they should.

That's also likely why Joe fell so far down the rabbit hole when he was unable to retrieve for Haley Gordon's sweater he inadvertently donated to Goodwill.

Dinner with Family - Halt and Catch Fire Season 4 Episode 8
(Tina Rowden/AMC)

During Halt and Catch Fire Season 4, Joe has been happier than he's ever been. With a successful company working with one of his favorite people, and in a relationship with his other favorite person, what could go wrong?

For Joe, it all went wrong. His love doesn't share the same goals and his best friend and business partner died. The girl he loves like his own only wanted one thing. She wanted her dad's green sweater. In a daring Goodwill heist, Joe pulled out a bag of women's summer dresses.

While he and Haley had a good laugh over it, that laughter soon turned to distress and the distress to darkness.

I can't imagine he'll go into the end of the series allowing that baggage to claim him when he knows how much it meant to Gordon to have his healthy friend in his life. Katie's conversation with Cam, however short, might be Joe's saving grace.

When Cam and Joe go their separate ways, hopefully she'll impart to him the importance of keeping Gordon alive through Comet and for Haley, with whom he has such a lovely relationship.

Gordon's Girls - Halt and Catch Fire Season 4 Episode 8
(Tina Rowden/AMC)

Donna is going to need help with Joanie and Haley. Discovering Joanie didn't have the faith in herself to send off college applications was disheartening. She could have set her sites on some colleges a little less prestigious.

She might have been accepted for summer session and a major nobody wanted like so many of my friends did. No freshman knows what major they want anyway.  Cameron was right about why you go to college. It's to experience your independence for the first time without fully cutting the ties from your parents.

It was sweet when the sisters wrapped up in each others arms, but that relationship won't last much longer as they grow up and go their separate ways.

Gordon always managed to find a way to deal his stress. Seeing Gordon again, especially in all his sideburned glory, was hard so early after his death. But no matter what got him down, he always found a way to get himself out of his funk.

Gordon was dependable from the very early moments of his marriage to Donna and likely from the very early moments of his life.

It's my hope that in the finale, we'll discover what everyone learned from having had so many loving experiences with Gordon in their own lives.

If you watch Halt and Catch Fire online, you know that's one of the possibilities of how this will all end. What are the others? I'm willing to wait and see. I hate that this is ending, but it's one of the most worthwhile 40 episodes of television I've ever watched.

I'll see you all one more time.

On Halt and Catch Fire Season 4 Episode 7, Gordon reaches out to Haley using his secret weapon, Joe. Can the damage to their relationship be undone?

It was nothing too dramatic, just the end of a life.

The end of a very important life came on Halt and Catch Fire Season 4 Episode 7, and the way it was portrayed felt very natural. A shaking voice, a bit of shock, the catch in someone's stretching silence a little too long leading to possible panic; these are the reactions people have when learning of the death of someone they love.

We can only hope the final moments of life are as beautiful and shared with memories as significant as what Gordon experienced before he left this earth.

Comet's Future - Halt and Catch Fire
(AMC)

So many of the recent storylines have allowed Gordon to die peacefully.

He was struggling with an affliction that occupied a lot of his time. Up until meeting Katie, he was documenting every moment that might have led to a diagnosis or a cure; I'm not quite sure which.

But after his conversation with her and the realization he had learned nothing after filling dozens of notebooks with the clues of his symptoms other than wasting time on notebooks that languished his drawer, Gordon was continuing to quench his new thirst for life.

Reuniting with Joe and having that easy friendship again was such a blessing.

What's Next - Halt and Catch Fire Season 4 Episode 7
(Tina Rowden/AMC)

Joe has come so far and matured to such a great degree that he's a comfort to everyone. He was through so much on his own that being back in the same world as the people he loves isn't something he's willing to squander.

His close relationship with Gordon's children, too, has come at a time when the kids' parents can most use the help. Parenting isn't an easy job, but having someone in your inner circle you can trust who your children trust, too, is a pretty special arrangement.

The friendship between Joe and Gordon was so unique because it was symbiotic. They're such different people, and they give and take from each other in ways that correct the insufficiencies in the other's personality.

The same is true of Gordon's parenting style with Haley. He doesn't didn't exactly have the luxury of being her pal because he had to make sure she was making the right decisions.

But doing that didn't necessarily mean he knew what he was doing or that he would ultimately make the right decisions, even with Donna at his side working together to do what was best for Haley.

Donna: How short are we talking?

Gordon: Well, um, it’s pretty short. Shorter than Dorothy Hamill’s, but not as short as Mark Hamill’s. Somewhere Mid-Hamill.

🔗 permalink: Well, um, it’s pretty short. Shorter than Dorothy Hamill’s, but not as short as Mark…

Honestly, I kind of like Haley's haircut. It makes her look sassy, but it is one of the tried and true life tropes. Women frak with their hair when going through something tumultuous in their life. It starts at a fairly young age, too.

But not wanting to be Haley's pal didn't mean Gordon didn't understand when he might have missed what happened with regard to school and her work at Comet. When she said she got an A on an exam but didn't want to return to Comet because it wasn't fun anymore, the pieces started fitting together.

Haley wasn't slipping at school because she wasn't there or was failing to understand, it was because she was uninterested and lacked the desire to function at school. At Comet she excelled because she wanted to and enjoyed it.

That's also why Joe tried to say he understood so well what Haley was going through. Maybe he should have offered a better solution to getting her to do well in school while working at Comet.

Maybe now that Gordon is gone, he will.

We Need Hayley - Halt and Catch Fire Season 4 Episode 7
(Tina Rowden/AMC)

Joe: Nobody knows better than me how impossible working with your father is. He’s moody, impatient, ungrateful, and the know-it-all problem is legendary.

Haley: He’s standing right there, isn’t he? [laughs]

Joe: Would I be saying all this if he was standing right there?

Haley: Yeah. [laughs]

Joe: OK, then you answered your own question. Look, you’re part of this place, and we need you.

Haley: Did my dad hear that?

Joe: Of course he did.

🔗 permalink: Of course he did.

The conversation between Joe and Haley while Gordon listened in was beautiful. Gordon understood everything, but it was sweet to see him sweat over the issue. His love of family was never in question.

And now that Donna has had her talk with Joe, hopefully, she'll be on board with sharing some of her parenting duties with him.

If their conversation could have come at a better time, I'd like to know when that would be. They said everything that needed to be said without going too far overboard into mushy territory.

I wonder, though, why Joe decided to go to Donna's when left to his own devices. Was he just ready to put the past behind him, or did he really think she was still trying to do away with Comet through her work with Rover?

Waddya Know Joe? - Halt and Catch Fire Season 4 Episode 7
(Tina Rowden/AMC)

Donna: Jesus Christ! You won! You got Haley and Gordon and Cameron! You got everybody! What else do you want?!

🔗 permalink: Jesus Christ! You won! You got Haley and Gordon and Cameron! You got everybody! What else do…

The two of them are so much alike, which is why Gordon would be so drawn to them both. They're the loves of Gordon's life. Joe was the only thing missing as Gordon passed through the end of his life.

And Cameron and Gordon were the two loves of Joe's life. Gordon and Cameron, perhaps, of Donna's, too.

Joe: Donna, I get it. It hurts to be thought of in that way. I’ve been there.

🔗 permalink: Donna, I get it. It hurts to be thought of in that way. I’ve been there.

Donna's friendship with Gordon was still so solid. It's hard not to imagine that someday, after they had time to process everything, they might have considered giving love a try again, when raising children and thriving in business wasn't still a priority.

Donna's respect for Cameron hasn't waned, and getting to the end of her game showed Cameron believed the prize would be finding your child. Who thought that was coming? Or perhaps only a mother who played the whole way through came to that conclusion.

The foursome was (and is) so intertwined they'll never be able to step back.

That's why it made so much sense for Donna and Joe to be in the same place at the time Gordon died. They had drifted so far apart, but the people who loved Gordon more than anybody else were together at the moment of his death. There's something Karmic in that.

I knew Gordon's time was up when he was speaking about the re-launch.

Gordon: Oh geez. Where’d I get so dirty? And where did the time go?

🔗 permalink: Oh geez. Where’d I get so dirty? And where did the time go?

It was those little moments of which he used to make a note. He might have made similar remarks earlier in the hour, but that one really stood out. I also noted he was very warm when the air conditioning wasn't working but chalked it up to being sweaty after the conversation with Haley. Nerves.

So when he looked in the mirror and the tell-tale blue lights of the afterlife shot through his vision, I was as ready as I was ever going to be.

Still, Gordon earlier wondered, "Who Needs a Guy?" Quite a few people need a guy, Gordon, when the guy is you.

With a gaping hole left in the foursome, we'll find out what happens next.

This Is Us

Will Donna take the managing partner role at her company or will she find a way to work with Cameron again to expand her ideas outside the Airstream and games to something evolutionary and life altering?

Will Cameron open up and stop seeing with tunnel vision? Can she keep the man she loves by allowing her emotions to flourish instead of being cooped up and stifled?

Will Joe's dreams of an expansive company and a life like Gordon's come to fruition, one with a wife and family, and perhaps a family business?

How will Gordon's death help center everyone to stop chasing dreams and escaping life by living life and creating dreams in the process? That was the plan of Boz and Diane. Will they lead the pack?

If you watch Halt and Catch Fire online, come back and share your thoughts after you have seen this beautiful, if heartbreaking episode. Otherwise, I want to hear from you below. What do you expect for the next three to end out the series?

Rest in Peace, Gordon Clark.

If Cameron thought her life was going to change for the better because she breathed life into Rover, she was wrong.

Joe is more determined than ever to make Comet a success.

Boz has already stepped away from the project. Cecil doesn't think much of being asked to leave. He thinks Donna asked too much of them since the beginning. In order for Rover to work now, they have to take it apart and rebuild it from the beginning so it's proprietary.

He has to say he's burned out and time to move on. Donna is really quite gracious, all things considered, but intends for it to happen right now.

It's Hayley's birthday. Gordon has rockets. She wants to go right now. With Katie.

Donna suggests they make a play for Bobby Ehrin. Microsoft wants him, too, but Donna says THEY're the big shots.

Cameron's property comes in handy for things like rocket launches. As for the woman? She has no desire to code anymore. So she says.

Nothing Cameron says gets Joe down. Cameron, though, is rolling her eyes at every turn.

When reading her email, she's taken to a website in her honor called the Howe of it All. It features work of hers she barely even remembers, such as drawings.

At Comet, Joe is filming the team. What's the first thing people think of when they hear the word "Internet"? Katie says computer, but all the males say "porn." Joe gets a little frustrated.

Donna calls to cancel her dinner with Gordon. She got a call from Hayley's counselor. Her grades are falling. Gordon is shocked, but he's also the one who has to talk to her.

Joe has a daughter crush on Hayley.

Bobbie Ehrin already accepted the Microsoft offer, but he kept the appointment with Donna because of how much Mutiny once meant to him. After she gives her impassioned speech about how she's trying to recreate Community with the entire Internet, Bobby decides to jump the Microsoft ship and board Rover.

She wakes up in his place, a bit embarrassed.

She tells him in the morning he doesn't have to take the job.

When Diane asks John to marry her, he reveals the financial mistake he made and the one with the Rover intellectual property. Nothing in her marriage was what she believed.

The conversation between Gordon and Hayley doesn't go well.

Diane wants to pay Cameron whatever she wants for the algorithm and be done with it. Donna can't because of her relationship with Cam. Diane demands it be done, at which point Donna will be relieved of her responsibilities with Rover and Tripp will take over. Cam fucked everybody over.

Some chick offers Cameron a place to work doing whatever the hell she wants. I don't really understand.

Joe shares with Gordon how Hayley is a little like him, how he would have given anything to for a place like Comet. Gordon goes off on Joe and suggests his parenting style is perfect and Joe's perceptions are why he's not a parent and never will be.

Joe doesn't put up an argument. Merely says, you're right, and walks away.

The next day, Donna is drunk when the girls get home. Joanie recognizes something is wrong.

Joe has a note from Cam. She went to the airstream. Boz calls looking for Cameron.

They're such a fucked up group, and the realization Joe is the most put together is rather startling.

Joe visits Boz for a beer. He admits he wants kids.

Donna is singing Pat Benatar in her car, drunk while driving. I'm very worried for her. She's being pulled over. The only good thing is laws were still relatively easy on people with DUIs at the time.

Donna walks out of the police station to a waiting Gordon.

Donna doesn't think she knows who she is anymore, but Gordon assures her she's the same person she has always been. She cries.

The next day, she goes to see Cameron in the airstream. Cameron doesn't want the payment. She signs on the dotted line. Donna says she won't tell Joe. Cameron says he already knows. Cameron wonders if Donna is OK, but MCI pulls up breaking any possibility of a reconnection.

On Halt and Catch Fire Season 4 Episode 5 Cameron remains the odd man out by her own doing. Is that where she wants to remain or will someone unexpected draw her back in?

While it appears Joe is going to lose his love once again, the possibility of a breakthrough for Cam might lie in Donna's hands.

The complex history between all of these deeply drawn characters was very apparent on Halt and Catch Fire Season 4 Episode 5. Even while new relationships are forming and making a significant impact, it's the long-term bonds that will cure what ails those who are still suffering.

Cameron is leading the pack with her emotional issues, and it was like the blind leading the blind as she tried help Boz out of his financial pickle, only further mitigating his stress levels to the point of a heart attack.

Struggling With Suspicion - Halt and Catch Fire
(AMC)

Donna was worrying about her place in the business whose ranks she had been climbing very easily until direct competition was brought on board, forcing her hand into somewhat distasteful tactics to get her job done.

Competing directly against Gordon was one thing but against her daughter was another matter altogether. Donna realized how much it meant to Hayley to work on Comet and how much her youngest changed for the better as a result of the work.

Hayley's climbing out of her comfort zone, learning a lot, and feeling stronger than ever. It's one thing for Rover to steamroll Comet because they're a naturally more talented bunch, but what Donna saw from Cecil didn't give her that indication at all.

Donna: I mean, he solved every problem he’s been wrestling with for months in one elegant update.

Boz: I guess the muse finally had something to say.

Donna: Don’t you wonder what took him so long?

🔗 permalink: Don’t you wonder what took him so long?

The Fear is Real - Halt and Catch Fire Season 4 Episode 5
(Bob Mahoney/AMC)

When Donna ultimately confronted Boz, she admitted she thought whoever he might have used to write the code could have been aiming at her specifically hoping to take her down or her place in the company.

Donna had no idea Boz was in financial distress, so she didn't even consider Cameron. What would Cameron, who hates Donna, have to gain by coding Rover? It wouldn't make sense without understanding the whole picture.

At least not until he had his heart attack and Cameron showed up at the hospital thinking her argument with Boz caused his attack. Boz has to take accountability for this one. He alone got him into his mess, and instead of talking to Diane, he's spent an inordinate amount of time trying to cover his ass.

I can't think of anything more stressful than covering your ass. It's a full-time job as you have to keep track of what lie you told when and where.

Cameron is Still Lost - Halt and Catch Fire Season 4 Episode 5
(Tina Rowden/AMC)

Cameron was on the same path. She did it in her marriage with Tom, and she was doing it to Joe now. Unfortunately, nobody is stupid here. Tom wasn't, and Joe isn't.

The confrontation with Cameron about helping out Comet was tough. Joe has been the perfect partner this time around. He's been patient, caring, and supportive. He listens to Cameron's desires and concerns and acts accordingly, never dismissing her in any way. The same can't be said for Cameron.

Her childish reaction to Joe's request she sits in on a couple of meetings at Comet surprised Joe, but we know she couldn't do it because the job was already completed at Rover.

Yet when Cameron told him, it came right after she admitted she told Tom about her and Joe because she wanted Tom to leave. Her "I love you" when Joe asked why she told him about coding for Rover meant nothing. All of her actions say otherwise.

But at the same time, I expect their relationship to be imploding, there is hope yet for Cameron.

People are still playing her game. Which looks terrible. Why did she make such an ugly main character? Anyway, unless I'm wrong, I got the feeling we were to believe Donna knows Cameron more than anyone and that will be key to "winning" the game or moving forward.

That, along with the algorithm that is now a part of Rover, will once again place them in the same frame of mind and back into orbit, repairing their once blistering relationship. They've never lost respect for each other, so finding a way to communicate effectively is their key.

Perhaps Halt and Catch Fire was always about the relations between the foursome, but only regarding business and friendship.

Brilliant Business Partners - Halt and Catch Fire Season 4 Episode 5
(Tina Rowden/AMC)

Joe and Gordon are in a beautiful place both in business and with their friendship. They understand each other in such a way that even when they're at their worst, they know they handle it for a short time, enough so the worst will pass.

Joe: Yeah? Cause from where I stand, it seems like you don’t care where thinks stand here as long as you get to keep screwing the Chief Ontologist!

Gordon: Why don’t you get some air?

🔗 permalink: Why don’t you get some air?

Joe knows everyone has their thoughts on his thing with Cameron. He's not looking for sympathy. More importantly, he's trying harder to figure out why, when he's having a moment with Cameron, he can't see straight through to his needs at business.

Joe is having a hard time reconciling the fact he's human. Successfully maneuvering both a personal life and a business life without blowing up one or the other is new to him.

That it hasn't escaped him is a good sign, and it was nice of Gordon to acknowledge it.

Gordon: Is this what you saw ten years ago because it’s not what I saw for myself when you showed up in my garage.

Joe: That’s the point. It was never about where it ended up. It was about how it felt. When I saw it, I knew how it would feel to build something with you. But this? Friday afternoon, all the cues are clear. I don’t know what comes next.

Gordon: Most of us in the human race, we don’t get to know what comes next. We just feel shit as it’s thrown at us. This, right now, is all there is. Welcome to the future, Joe McMillan. I mean, I can’t speak for anyone else, but I’m sure glad to have you here.

🔗 permalink: Most of us in the human race, we don’t get to know what comes next. We just feel shit as it’s…

Gordon has made his own discovery about life. What's happening with Katie is very good for him and the girls.

Gordon has a Girlfriend - Halt and Catch Fire Season 4 Episode 5
(Tina Rowden/AMC)

She is a lot of fun. She does crazy things like roller derby, but she's still up for watching Gordon's favorite movie in bed with him or a day hanging out with the girls.

Katie is also very in tune to Gordon when it comes to his illness. When he's not feeling well, she doesn't leave him alone but wants to know more about it. She's interested in how he feels and whether he ever discovered any patterns to his symptoms after years of keeping journals.

Katie didn't receive a direct answer to that question, but Gordon burned his entire collection of journals in the fireplace. I took that to mean he's been spending more time worrying about where the symptoms might take him than living his life, something he's been enjoying for a long time and even more since Katie became a part of it.

If there were significant patterns, we can assume he'd have acted upon them by now.

27 Marvelous Men of Summer TV

I'm not rooting for Cameron in any specific way. She's a very broken person. She's her worst enemy and won't get out of her own way. If there's a cliche out there, it suits Cameron. Mending their relationship would be better for Donna, though, who deserves to redeem herself for what she thinks she did when she was at Mutiny.

Donna is always pushing too hard and trying to prove what doesn't need proving because she isn't sure she's worthy of success or if she always rides someone else's coattails.

Just like Joe and Gordon know that working together is the best part of any business venture they enter, Donna has to figure out what being in Cameron's orbit means to her.

If you have already watched, share your thoughts below. If you are going to watch Halt and Catch Fire online, come back later and let me know what you're thinking.

This is the show that keeps on giving. What are you hoping to see next with everyone? Success for Joe and Gordon? Donna build her confidence? Hit me!!
