Greek has come to an end. The series bowed out with an emotional, solid finale, as reviewed in detail here.

It’s so hard to say goodbye…

After four years, it was finally time to bid farewell to Greek this week, the show that let us live out some of our own college fantasies and left us excited us for each impending semester. It was definitely a bittersweet ending, so let’s reminisce over “Legacy.”

As reality sunk in all around, the hour was filled with difficult decisions. Sure, there were a few holes in the storylines (i.e. tearing tear down the KT house without some more warning to those who lived there, or Casey just picking up and leaving law school behind). But who really cares, the final semester has ended and it definitely did not fail.

Let me be the first to admit: when the letters were falling and the KT house was coming down, I couldn’t help tearing up with the characters. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one… right?

The finale did so many things right – there was nods back to the first season and also some familiar faces. Wade, Jen K, Lisa Lawson, and even Officer Huck were on hand for the protest. It was awesome. Even more awesome? Catherine’s speech about why KT was important to her.

After the demolition of the Kappa Tau house (a legacy in itself), everything worked out for the best. There were new couples, rekindling of romances, and some relationships that had proven they are solid and meant to be. Let’s discuss.

Looks like Dale has finally met the future Mrs. Kettlewell! Heath and Calvin kept their adorable relationship together, as they prepare for a semester abroad. And Ash made the first move to start up her romance with Rusty. I was pretty skeptical about these two, but the season won me over with the buildup of a friendship into a relationship.

Rebecca and Evan may not have officially gotten back together, but there is a definite future with them. I see them as a perfect fit.

Casey and Cappie, meanwhile… These two have been at the center of the show over the past four seasons and even Evan recognized this is “as it should be.” Here is hoping we have more of Spencer Grammer and Scott Michael Foster on TV future. (Like here, for example.)

Other thoughts:

  • Love that Rebecca and Dale have a friendship after their catty fights earlier in the season and that Rusty is the new KT president.
  • Anyone else flash back to The OC when “Forever Young” was playing in the background?
  • How sweet was the scene between Rusty and Casey?
  • What did you think of Captain John Paul Jones?

This is it, the end at Cyprus Rhodes. What did you think of the series finale? Are you going to miss Greek or was it time to graduate and move on?

Frannie returned to Greek this week, as the drama moved closer to its finale. Read on for a review of "Agents for Change."

Agents for Change” marked the return of Frannie, the unlikely pairing of Rusty and Evan, and even a Justin Bieber concert.

Indeed, Tiffany Dupont reprised her role as Frannie Morgan, looking as great as ever. Her appearance led to some tension-filled scenes with Casey, making me nostalgic for seasons past. This girl was always a layered complication and it felt good to have her back for an episode.

Agents of Change
(ABC FAMILY/ADAM LARKEY)

The best part about Frannie showing up in Cyprus Rhodes? Cappie’s reaction. Aaaahhh!

Who else is up in the air about Calvin’s position at Omega Chi? Part of me really wants him to leave and go join the KTs. It was awesome for him to stand up for Dale once again. The real brothers on this show are Calvin, Dale, and Rusty.

Chambers International purchased the patent for Rusty’s wire, causing Rusty and Evan to spend some time together. This was interesting because the majority of scenes the two have shared together over the series have been arguments and fights. Rusty seemed to recognize why Evan is the way he is, reminding me of why Cappie and Evan were friends in the first place. Although Evan has been a certified jerk the past few episodes, he hasn’t always been that way. Having Cappie, Evan, and Rusty become friends in the finale would not be something I would hate.

Let’s talk a minute about Pledge Spidey pretending to be Justin Bieber. As much as I love corny and unrealistic storylines (i.e One Tree Hill), this was just ridiculous. No one would believe that Pledge Spidey is Bieber, even with the hoodie and the hair. On a side note, how awesome would it have been if they had actually had Justin Bieber on the show?

Next week, we come to the series finale of Greek. It is sure to be a bittersweet ending after the past four years. What do you think is in store for our favorite characters? Is Spidey the one sabotaging the KTs?

Greek Review: “Subclass Plagiostomi” https://www.tvfanatic.com/greek-review-subclass-plagiostomi/ https://www.tvfanatic.com/greek-review-subclass-plagiostomi/#respond Tue, 22 Feb 2011 12:26:02 +0000 https://www.tvfanatic.com/2011/02/22/greek-review-subclass-plagiostomi/ From Subclass Plagiostomi

Greek stumbled a bit this week. It tried to incorporate too many characters and too many storylines into just one hour of television.

The post Greek Review: “Subclass Plagiostomi” appeared first on TV Fanatic.

Two steps forward, one step back.

After two great episodes, Greek stumbled a bit with “Subclass Plagiostomi.” The hour packed in so much that it lost its footing. I am all for the main characters getting their own stories, but a couple minutes here and there doesn’t make for a smooth episode.

From Subclass Plagiostomi
(ABC FAMILY/Danny Feld)

It was Casey’s time to shine in her Elle Woods persona for a mock trial against Evan. Once again, he proved to be a jerk, making a mess of Casey’s research for the project. For a mere second, I didn’t hate him. He had me fooled, telling Casey his feelings. But, of course, he was just trying to throw her off her game.

As much of an arrogant and heartless person he is, Evan is going to make a pretty good lawyer.

Mean Rebecca returned and was awesome. I thoroughly enjoyed her and Evan together in their good times, but she had lost her edge. This week, it came back with a vengeance. Her jabs at Natalie and her sorority had me rolling. With only a few episodes remaining, Rebecca and the ZBZ’s better go out on top. I have no doubt they will.

Finally, some headway with the Omega Chi/Dale situation. Although the pledge talent show left Dale alone on stage in his underwear, it was a great moment. Not only did he have some moves, but it showed (not in a super corny way) who his real brothers are.

Maybe the reason Calvin had no idea about the plan is because he is always with the KTs. He dates one, he is best friends with one, he hangs out at their house all the time… he and Dale should just join the house already. Then maybe Cappie can finally get his book club back.

A few other thoughts:

  • Cappie and Ashleigh were pretty entertaining. In a way, they can bring out the grown up side of each other.
  • No screen time for Beaver and Catherine. This just isn’t right.
  • Ashleigh and Simon broke up. Is she headed into the arms of Rusty? What will this mean for Casey and the research assistant position?
  • Does anyone else cringe when Natalie “the gnome” is on? Definitely rooting for Rebecca to take her down a notch.
  • Loved the nod to season one ZBZ pledge class using the same dance and song for the talent show as performed in the Omega Chi front yard.

Overall, an episode that didn’t really bring the excitement. With the final semester coming to a close, there are quite a few arcs to wrap up. What does the future holds for our favorite Greeks? I’m anxious to find out.

Rebecca learns that ZBZ is up for an award this week, leading her to recruit the help of a former president in order to be named the best chapter in the country.

ZBZ is a finalist to win the Golden Lily for the best chapter in the country. To impress Nationals, Rebecca recruits Frannie to help organize a benefit concert from Justin Bieber. Frannie fails to deliver and Casey recruits Pledge Spidey to pretend to be him.

The KT’s house is in jeopardy of being condemned. Spidey’s dad comes to the rescue and offers to pay for repairs. Cappie and Rusty begin to think that Spidey could be the one out to get the house.

Chambers International purchases the patent to Rusty’s wire. Evan and Rusty go to Evan’s parents where Evan makes up with his parents and Mr. Chambers offers Rusty the chance to come work on the project after graduation.

Calvin contemplates quitting Omega Chi. Dale comes to the house and the brothers tell Tripp that they want things to change, including Dale being an Omega Chi.

Cappie receives a letter from the school. Casey starts to recognize the fact that she is no longer a ZBZ, but is just an alumni.

Greek has a challenging mission ahead on Monday night: Follow up a nearly perfect episode, one our critic raved about in her latest review.

The ABC Family hit will attempt to do so on “Subclass Plagiostomi,” as Casey and Evan battle it out in a mock trial class; while Rusty and Calvin attempt to save Dale from a humiliating moment at a talent show.

How does this translate into Greek going Legally Blonde, as teased in the following promo? Watch and see now.

ABC Family aired the Greek episode we'd been waiting all season for. Read on to see what made "Midnight Clear" so great.

The post Greek Review: “Midnight Clear” appeared first on TV Fanatic.

This was exactly the Greek I had been waiting for all season. There was witty banter, a party, and all of the core characters in one room. It was classic Greek and it felt good.

As proven on “Midnight Clear,” there is nothing like a snow storm to make you face your issues and there could not have been a more fun place than Dobblers for all the awkward questions and kisses.

Greek Snowstorm
(ABC Family)

I know that best friends fight, but I was so over the Casey/Ashleigh argument. With all the relationships that go on in this show, Casey and Ash’s friendship is at the heart and needs to stay that way.

As for Rusty and Ashleigh… Rashleigh? Both of these characters are great, but I’m not sure I can get on board with the romance and tension going on between them. It just doesn’t seem natural.

It is a little awkward to watch, kind of like they’re brother and sister. I’m intrigued by the possibility for now of Simon and want to see this explored a little more. Besides, how hilarious was it when everyone watched Ash kiss the professor? Classic.

This episode also marked the return of Evan being more than his usual cocky self. We saw him being the rude, selfish jerk we had gotten to know a few years ago. Obviously, no one is supposed to like this version of Evan, but I can’t help enjoy the nostalgia as the final semester comes to an end. (Side note: it was about time Rebecca got her spine back!)

I was excited when Dale decided to pledge and it felt as though he would be getting his own, real story. The arc was supposed to be funny, but it’s having a hard time holding my interest.

Needless to say, Calvin’s 21st birthday was probably not his best birthday, but it was a great one for the viewers. This was a solid hour, bringing back that first season feeling, while setting up legit storylines for the end of the show. The only thing that could have made it better for me would be some Catherine and Beaver time.

What did you think, TV Fanatics? Would you rather see Ash with Simon or Rusty? Glad Rebecca kicked Evan to the curb? What do you want to happen in the second half of the season? Do you believe in the law school curse?
