TV has explored various romantic tropes, from love triangles to fake dating. There are so many out there, but one thing's for sure – the best trope is friends to lovers.

It is safe to say that we have seen our fair share of romance tropes on television.

We have seen it all — friends with benefits, love triangles — you name it, it is out there.

Some of television's most popular relationships, whether they were endgame or not, are often forbidden love or enemies to lovers dynamics. People seem to find these tropes the most intriguing.

Friends to Lovers
(CW, NBC, Fox, Disney Channel)

But they are not. Sure, on the surface, these types of relationships may seem more exciting. Still, the best trope for romance on television is friends to lovers.

Various subcategories define this trope — childhood friend romance, just friends, I don't wanna ruin our friendship, and more. However, they all fall into the same category.

Friends to lovers is not dull or vanilla; they do not put people to sleep. The best and most iconic relationships on television belong to this trope. They have the most buildup and the best substance, with various examples to prove it.

We will start with one of TV's most beloved sitcom couples — Chandler and Monica, affectionately dubbed as "Mondler."

Chandler and Monica - Friends
(NBC)

Granted, they were not the plan from the beginning. Chandler and Monica's relationship was initially supposed to last only for a few episodes. However, viewers loved them so much that the writers of Friends decided to make them endgame.

The power of friendship and romance, everyone.

People want to see realistic reflections of good couples.

Sure, it is exciting to see dark and dangerous relationships that you do not see every day. However, people often gravitate towards healthy dynamics, especially if they have a solid foundation of friendship.

Another excellent yet unexpected example is Caroline Forbes and Stefan Salvatore.

Sundown - The Vampire Diaries
(Annette Brown/The CW)

Unexpected is an understatement. The Vampire Diaries originally revolved around the love triangle between Stefan, Elena, and Damon. Caroline liked Stefan briefly at the beginning of the show. However, they put the potential romance to rest and focused on their friendship instead.

Stefan and Caroline's friendship naturally blossomed into a beautiful relationship. They were far more exciting than Stefan and Elena or Damon and Elena. Stefan and Caroline had something the love triangle did not — a foundation.

They spent years building their friendship and slowly fell in love with each other over time. Viewers unexpectedly hooked onto their relationship without even realizing it.

Soon, Stefan and Caroline's relationship was what viewers looked forward to every Thursday night, and rightfully so. How could they not?

A Stolen Moment - The Vampire Diaries Season 8 Episode 9
(Annette Brown/The CW)

There is a lot of history and tension between them. Anyone can easily see that, whether or not they watched The Vampire Diaries.

Stefan and Caroline's relationship was the show's most rewarding, even if they were not the original plan.

But sometimes, unplanned relationships end up being the best ones on the show, especially if they have a solid basis of friendship, like with Mondler and Steroline.

One of TV's most iconic examples is Barry Allen and Iris West from The Flash. Two people who were best friends since childhood.

Power Couple - The Flash Season 6 Episode 12
(Katie Yu / CW)

What makes their relationship even more exciting is that Barry pined for Iris secretly for years before he admitted his feelings.

It was a bit of a bumpy road, but eventually, Iris fell for Barry. Now, they are married with a kid.

Over time, their relationship did not diminish. Barry and Iris endured their fair share of drama. However, it was so much more powerful because they faced it together.

Unfortunately, not all best friends get to see the light of canon. Some of them remain platonic and only become romantic in our heads, but it does not make them any less beautiful.

Riley Matthews and Maya Hart is that example.

Girl Meets World Premiere Pic
(DISNEY CHANNEL/Bob D’Amico)

Most viewers of Girl Meets World were either team Lucas and Riley or team Lucas and Maya. There were a handful of people who thought Riley and Maya was the best choice, but not many.

But if you read in between the lines, Riley and Maya are the most obvious choice. Neither Lucas and Riley nor Lucas and Maya paralleled the iconic friends to lovers couple, Cory and Topanga. Nope, that was the relationship between Riley Matthews and Maya Hart.

They could not have made it more explicitly clear than they did on Girl Meets World Season 3 Episode 9 "Girl Meets Ski Lodge Part 2."

At the end of the episode, Riley flat out tells her best friend that Cory and Topanga were each other's extraordinary relationship. Then Riley tells Maya that she is hers.

Girl Meets World Photo
(Kelsey McNeal/ABC)

Cory and Topanga were friends. They fell in love, got married, had kids.

Girl Meets World could not have been more transparent with this subtext.

Many people adore Cory and Topanga because of their foundation and how they built their relationship.

Then there is Archie Andrews and Betty Cooper from Riverdale. Their relationship has so much potential, but it was never explored romantically beyond a kiss on Riverdale Season 2 and Riverdale Season 4.

Barchie - Tall - Riverdale Season 4 Episode 18
(Jack Rowand/The CW)

However, with Riverdale implementing a time jump of four years between seasons four and five, who knows where the two best friends will end up?

They have always been the most exciting dynamic of the core four, considering they have the most history. Jughead and Betty only got together after a few episodes. They were barely together before they said, "I love you."

And while Archie and Veronica have a more intriguing dynamic with far more chemistry, they were also quick to leap to a long term, serious relationship.

But where is the groundwork for either dynamic? Archie and Veronica fall into the trope of love at first sight. However, instead of developing a strong friendship, they chose to act on it on Riverdale Season 1 Episode 10

Bellamy and Clarke - The 100

Archie and Betty may be the classic childhood friends, boy-meets-girl-next-door trope, but their relationship is so much more than that. They connect through platonic and romantic love. They truly value their relationship on all different levels, which is not true about the other two dynamics.

We can only hope that Archie and Betty have the chance to shine in a relationship on Riverdale Season 5.

Sometimes, rivals to lovers can be an interesting concept, but only if there is a middle ground of friendship in between.

Like with Jake Peralta and Amy Santiago from Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

True Love - Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 6 Episode 12
(John P. Fleenor/NBC)

They began as co-workers, which led to a rivalry of trying to prove who is the better cop.

But then Jake won their bet and took Amy out on the worst date ever on Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 1 Episode 13. During this episode, their rivalry blossomed into a friendship, which eventually blossomed into a romance.

Now they are happily married with a newborn child.

These six different examples of friends to lovers demonstrate why the trope is not dull, why it is anything but vanilla, and how the relationships are all unique in their own ways while still sharing the value of friendship.

Six different relationships. Twelve different characters. All vastly different stories. Not one of these relationships is the same unless you want to count that Monica and Chandler and Jake and Amy share the same wedding anniversary.

Ted and Robin - How I Met Your Mother

But otherwise, the friends to lovers trope is beautiful in every way.

We may have to wait longer for these relationships to become canon (if they ever do). However, the result is far more rewarding than any potential tension an enemies to lovers relationship may have. Friends to lovers relationships have history, solid ground, and natural chemistry.

After all, relationships are hard work. They depend on communication and trust; two characteristics also crucial for maintaining friendships.

Besides, isn't your romantic life partner supposed to be your best friend?

Your turn, Fanatics!

Are there any characters who you think don't get enough love and attention from fans? We created a list of leads that viewers tend to shove out of the spotlight!

The post Fans Shove These Lead Characters Right Out of the Spotlight appeared first on TV Fanatic.

The main character isn't always the one that steals the hearts of the viewers.

More often than not, leads get completely ignored for secondary characters that fans find to be more interesting.

In some cases they're right, but we think there's a handful of leads who deserve much more attention.

Check out our list of lead characters that fans tend to shove out of the spotlight!

John Nolan – The Rookie

Nolan Tries To Help - The Rookie Season 2 Episode 9
(ABC/Christopher Willard)

Listen, we love Tim Bradford as much as the next person, but there's no reason that Nolan shouldn't get the same amount of love and attention from viewers.

Nolan is a passionate and groundbreaking character who broke out of his shell and moved across the country to make a difference. He didn't let his age stop him from following his dream, which is to make the world a safer place.

John Nolan has the biggest heart in existence, and while the show does an excellent show at portraying it, he is too frequently overshadowed by other characters in the eyes of the fans.

Clary Fray – Shadowhunters

Clary had a fan base, but it was relatively small compared to the love fans had for the other characters.

The other characters were groundbreaking for obvious reasons, and all the attention they got was well-deserved. But we can't help but wish that Clary received a bit more attention from viewers.

She's one of the most adorable and loveable Shadowhunters in existence.

Joe and Spencer – Ballers

Joe and Spencer used to make a great team, but recently they've been on two separate paths.

Although they are the two main characters of the show, Ballers chose to put them at odds, which negatively impacted the quality of the series.

We're ready to shove them out of the spotlight personally, simply because the B storylines are better than watching Joe and Spencer destroy their relationship and continue with their individual and dull storylines.

Oliver Queen – Arrow

The more the show goes on, the less it starts to feel about the Green Arrow, and the more it starts to feel about his team of heroes.

While his team was epic and deserved all kinds of love, it's hard not to miss the days where Oliver and his story was at the heart and soul of the series.

Lately, everyone seems to care about the new additions more than the man who started it all.

Ted Mosby – How I Met Your Mother

Ask any How I Met Your Mother fans if they liked Ted Mosby, and odds are, they'll say no. Even though Ted was the main character and the entire show was about his journey to find love, most viewers found him entitled and annoying.

As one of the very few Ted fans in the country, Ted's quirky personality was integral to the series, and the sitcom would have been nothing without him.

What would we do without Ted and his red cowboy boots to lead the way?

Jax – Pandora

Jax has always been central to the plot of Pandora, but most fans can collectively agree that the characters around her are becoming much more interesting than she ever was.

Jax may be the lead, but it appears that her current purpose is to get everyone around her killed.

We understand why other characters are more beloved, in this situation.

Nancy Drew – Nancy Drew

Facing the Truth - Nancy Drew Season 1 Episode 8
(Katie Yu/The CW)

Nancy Drew is another character who deserves more love in general.

Nancy Drew was a beloved book series by many, but The CW character isn't being spoken about as much as she needs to be.

This girl can kick ass with nothing but a flashback, and the internet is still staying silent about her. Give Nancy Drew more love in 2020!

Max Goodwin – New Amsterdam

All Alone - Tall - New Amsterdam Season 2 Episode 8
(Virginia Sherwood/NBC)

Max Goodwin is the best medical director New Amsterdam has ever had.

He constantly puts the needs of the patients over his health, and continued to work at the hospital when he was in the late stages of throat cancer.

He's not as much overshadowed by others, as he is ignored by fans altogether. Max Goodwin deserves much more appreciation and attention than he's given.

Kate Kane – Batwoman

We know that Kate is new to the whole superhero thing, but the amount of mistakes she's made is getting out of hand.

She let her twin sister get away with far too many things, and Kate isn't connecting well with the audience.

Kate's step-sister, and even the grouchy, but loveable tech back-up Luke, get more love from fans than Batwoman herself does.

Archie Andrews – Riverdale

Archie Fights - Riverdale Season 4 Episode 9
(Jack Rowand/The CW)

It's far too easy to forget that Archie is the main character of Riverdale. Veronica, Cheryl, Betty, and Jughead all stand out and add much more to the plot than he does.

Archie isn't an unlikeable character, but he also isn't able to capture the audience the way that the rest of the characters can.

When Archie is talked about by fans, it's usually about his relationship status, rather than his personality.

Liz Ortecho – Roswell, New Mexico

Who Are You? - Roswell, New Mexico
(Ursula Coyote/The CW)

Liz Ortecho is the heart and soul of Roswell, New Mexico.

Her brilliant brain has solved more problems than we can count, and her strength and passion drives her forward in a way that we can't help but admire.

Most fans sleep on her and give all their love to the other characters, but there's enough to go around!

Wil Ohmsford – The Shannara Chronicles

Wil wasn't a bad character, but he was very easily overshadowed by Amberle and Eretria.

Fans nicknamed the pairing "Princess Rover," and while Wil was supposed to be at the head of the love triangle, most fans ended up shipping his co-stars together.

We're with fans on this one. Amberle and Eretria were the superior pairing.

Scott McCall – Teen Wolf

Everyone loved and appreciated Scott Mccall, no question. But most Teen Wolf fans cared much more about Stiles than they did the main character.

Stiles did steal the show, and the final season was horrible without him, so we can't blame fans for loving Stiles above all else.

However, the series was at its best when Scott and Stiles were fighting the supernatural together, and they both deserve incredible amounts of praise for making the show one of the best of the decade.

Riley Matthews – Girl Meets World

Riley Matthews was overshadowed by her co-star so often, that viewers began to wonder if her best friend, Maya, was truly the girl in the title of Girl Meets World.

If we're being honest, Maya was a far more interesting character than Riley, but it was Riley's show at the end of the day.

Riley Matthews was a ball of sunshine that at least deserved an equal amount of love and praise as the rest of the characters received.

Do you agree or disagree with our controversial choices?

There are a lot of elements that go into making a fictional relationship successful.

The story and the development are both crucial pieces to the puzzle, but they don't matter if there's no onscreen chemistry.

Related: 17 Times Labor Went Above and Beyond the Pain

Some ships fizzled out the longer their show was on, and others never had a spark to begin with.

We created a list below of 41 TV couples with absolutely no chemistry!

1. Jackson and Maggie – Grey's Anatomy

Most fans can collectively agree that the relationship between Jackson and Maggie is a dull one. Or maybe it seems dull in comparison to what Jackson and April could have had.

2. Tom and Ann – Parks and Recreation

You know there's no chemistry when their first onscreen kiss made viewers physically cringe. What was the point of throwing Tom and Ann together, again?

3. Max and Georgia – New Amsterdam

Max's devotion to his wife is sweet, but that's the only thing we can appreciate about their marriage. It doesn't make us feel anything other than boredom.

4. Edison and Olivia – Scandal

Most Scandal viewers weren't huge fans of Edison. Whether or not our dislike of the character played into how we view their chemistry is still uncertain, but there never seemed to be any magnetism in the relationship.

5. Rachel and Sam – Glee

It felt unnecessary for Glee to even go here in the first place. Rachel had recently recovered from Finn's death, and she was obviously going to rekindle things with Jesse. It was as if Rachel had to give it a shot with everyone before the show's end.

6. Scott and Kira – Teen Wolf

Scott and Kira started the series incredibly cute, but as the show went on the writers seemed to stop caring about her.

Her whimsical personality disappeared, and she became a bland character who faded into the background. Kira's relationship with Scott suffered as a result, and their dynamic fell completely flat.

7. Sam and Tara – True Blood

There were quite a few couples in True Blood who's chemistry was nonexistent. Sam and Tara fell into that category, and Sookie and Bill could probably fit in there too.

8. Dean and Beth – Good Girls

Are they even supposed to have chemistry? It's incredible that Dean and Beth still haven't divorced given how they both cheated and can't stand to be around each other.

9. Rick and Jessie – The Walking Dead

Rick and Jessie are the definition of a filler relationship. Rick hadn't truly been with anyone since Lori, and the show wasn't quite ready to put him with his best friend, Michonne. Therefore, Rick and Jessie existed in limbo.

10. Amy and Adam – Superstore

The relationship between Amy and her husband was so bad it was laughable. It was hard even to consider them a couple when her chemistry with her co-worker, Jonah, was off the charts in comparison.

11. Finn and Raven – The 100

To be fair, Finn didn't have chemistry with anyone. But he and Raven always appeared as though they had more of a sibling bond than a romantic one.

12. Betty and Jughead – Riverdale

Considering that the actors dated in real life, it was surprising that the characters onscreen chemistry dwindled so dramatically. Now everytime they're on the screen together we can't help but sing, "Thank U, Next."

13. Seg and Lyta – Krypton

If we're being honest, Seg doesn't have much chemistry with anyone, but his relationship with Lyta was dull in every sense of the word.

14. Lucifer and Eve – Lucifer

Lucifer and Eve might not have been able to keep their hands off each other, but it always felt forced on Lucifer's end to get over Chloe. Nothing about it seemed real.

15. Allison and Luther – The Umbrella Academy

Allison and Luther were raised as siblings and had no problem calling the rest of their family brothers and sisters. The romance between them felt wrong in every way possible.

16. Frank and Claire – House of Cards

Frank and Claire's marriage didn't feel real at all. There seemed to be a lack of love, and it felt as if they were married to suit their political agendas more than anything else.

17. Jess and Robby – New Girl

Even before they realized they were cousins, their interactions were just plain cringe-worthy. Jess and Robby kept trying to force what wasn't there.

18. Jane and Rafael – Jane the Virgin

Don't come at me, Jafael fans. There's no denying that over the second half of the series their chemistry drastically improved.

But besides one kiss amped up with dramatic music and falling flower petals, their relationship was bland and uneventful in the first few seasons. Even Rafael originally saw Jane like a sister.

19. Liz and Kyle – Roswell, New Mexico

Their hookups may not have lasted for long, but it was still hard to watch Liz and Kyle together when it seemed rather tasteless and was never going to go anywhere.

20. Jackie and Fez – That 70's Show

How did this even happen? Jackie had two other viable options with whom she had chemistry, and it made no sense that the series decided to stick her with the one person she didn't.

21. Riley and Lucas – Girl Meets World

It still blows our minds that Riley and Lucas ended up together. Their entire story was boring and stereotypical, and Lucas had much more chemistry with Riley's best friend, Maya.

22. Shelby and Ryan – Quantico

Shelby and Ryan should never have been a thing in the first place. We're still shocked that Quantico decided to go with such a hollow relationship over the alternatives.

23. George and Izzie – Grey's Anatomy

George and Izzie always gave off friendship vibes more than anything. When they got together, it looked like they were kissing their brother or sister.

24. Jason and Tahani – The Good Place

Thankfully, Jason and Tahani happened in a small number of the reboots, but it was still weird to watch. Now, they're married so that Jason can share in her wealth.

25. Rebecca and Josh – Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend made such a big deal about the Rebecca and Josh's relationship when it wasn't even all that to begin with. They both have more chemistry with other people.

26. Veronica and Duncan – Veronica Mars

Duncan stayed away from Veronica because he thought that she was his sister, and honestly, that dynamic fit them better than a romantic one.

27. Felicity and Ray – Arrow

Felicity was only with Ray to cause drama between her and Oliver, so it made sense that there weren't any sparks here. They weren't the couple viewers were supposed to be rooting for.

28. Greg and Jax – Pandora

When Greg and Jax meet up at the Space Fleet Training Academy, Jax makes it clear that she's not interesting in caring for anyone else. Her whole attitude played into the events that followed, and now there's not even a chance to see if chemistry could have even been created between the two.

29. Ted and The Slutty Pumpkin – How I Met Your Mother

The lack of compatibility between Ted and The Slutty Pumpkin was comical. They couldn't even hold hands without making it awkward. We know you were hung up on her for a while Ted, but some things just aren't meant to be.

30. Charles and Liza – Younger

Many people will likely disagree with this one, but Charles and Liza have always felt more forced than anything. While their scenes together are sometimes enjoyable, the fireworks aren't there and they have never been.

31. Ed and Kelly – The Orville

Despite being married in the past, Ed and Kelly's relationship is only good when it's a working one. Kelly now serves as Ed's first officer and everything gets thrown out of wack when they try to rekindle their romance.

32. Rose and Mickey – Doctor Who

Mickey and Rose knew each other since they were kids and Mickey always had a crush on Rose. But viewers were always given the impression that Rose only cared about Mickey as a friend and was with him more for convenience than anything else.

33. Lorelai and Jason – Gilmore Girls

Maybe we're biased, but Lorelai never had chemistry with anyone other than Luke. It's probably because, deep in her heart, it was always Luke she wanted to be with.

34. Simon and Clary – Shadowhunters

Simon and Clary gave off best friend energy, and that was it. We get that the show threw them together to stay true to Cassandra Clare's books, but viewers could have done without it.

35. Michael and Ash – Star Trek: Discovery

Ash being a physically reconstructed Klingon with memories grafted over his real identity made his relationship with Michael undesirable. Whatever spark used to be there has gone out completely.

36. Dean and Lisa – Supernatural

Dean's time on the road with his brother doesn't give him many opportunities for long-term romances, but when he did finally get one it was underwhelming. The only woman Dean ever had chemistry with was Jo, and she was killed moments after their first kiss.

37. Caitlin and Julian – The Flash

Caitlin and Julian are both great characters, but sadly the spark isn't there. No matter how much we love them, sometimes couples just fall flat.

38. Gina and Charles – Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Gina and Charles went from begrudging co-workers to casually hooking up, to step-siblings, to ex step-siblings. The whole thing was a giant trainwreck.

39. Devon and Julian – The Resident

Devon and Julian were a weird case. There were times it was easy to ship them, but their chemistry was always off, and sometimes they were plain awkward around each other.

40. Aria and Ezra – Pretty Little Liars

The only vibes Ezria gave off were creepy ones. A sixteen-year-old girl and her high school teach don't have chemistry. If anything, the forbidden love aspect tried to compensate for the lack of it.

41. Wil and Mareth – The Shannara Chronicles

Who thought this was a good idea? Wil had much more chemistry with Eretria, and while Mareth was a fun addition to the show, her romance with Wil felt forced.

Girl Meets World has been canceled at Disney Channel after three seasons. Find out what the cast and crew had to say and whether there would be a conclusion.

Girl Meets World has been canceled at Disney Channel after three seasons.

The official Twitter account for Girl Meets World Writers confirmed the news that most fans were expecting about the popular TV series.

Have a look at the tweets below which confirmed the news.

Series star, Rowan Blanchard took to Twitter to voice her upset at her show being cut short.

Girl Meets World is a sequel series to the wildly popular Boy Meets World which ran for seven seasons as part of ABC's TGIF line-up.

The series was a hit with both critics and viewers, winning several awards throughout its run.

Girl Meets World never quite matched that level of success, but its ratings were strong initially to keep it running.

However, sagging ratings probably contributed a huge role in the show being canceled.

There has definitely been many hints over the past few months that the Rowan Blanchard starring series was about to make its way over to the TV graveyard.

For a start, the series finale has a very ominous name. It will be titled, "Girl Meets Goodbye."

That sounds like a series ending episode title right there.

Rider Strong, who played Corey's best friend Shawn Hunter recently made headlines for implying that the show was over, but this was refuted from sources close to production.

Girl Meets World Canceled at Disney Channel After Three Seasons

Additionally, a recent posting on one of the European Disney Channel websites seemingly confirmed that the conclusion to Season 3 would be the end of the line for the show.

Maybe Disney Channel should have just announced it in advance. It seems that everyone close to the show knew that it was a goner.

The series finale will have pretty much the entire cast of Boy Meets World stopping by, so at least fans have that to look forward to.

Beyond that, there's no word of the series being shopped around. The show would definitely fit in over at Freeform.

What do you think about the cancelation?

Sound off below!

Like most kids of the '80s and '90s, I gave into nostalgia and checked out the much-anticipated Girl Meets World premiere.

On the pilot, we met Riley Matthews, the daughter of Cory and Topanga from the unforgettable Boy Meets World.

That's right – Cory and Topanga have a daughter and son now. It's been 14 years since we've seen them last and things are VERY different now. Even Aladdin would say it's definitely a whole new world. (I'm kind of a Disney fan.)

I honestly tuned in hoping to see what married life would be like for the couple we once all fell in love with, but I quickly realized this was no longer Cory's world. It was, and is, in fact, Riley's world. The premise was cute: Riley was trying to prove that she was mature enough to get a subway pass.

Riley, played by Rowan Blanchard, is absolutely adorable and charming – like father, like daughter. She's finding her own "world" and has best friend, Maya, along for the ride. There's also Farkle, who readily screams Minkus. Like its predecessor, GMW will undoubtedly teach lessons in the classroom while also focusing on life lessons learned by Riley and Maya, also known as Cory and Shawn 2.0.

In Girl Meets World Season 1 Episode 1, Riley joined a homework rebellion in an attempt to be more like Maya, which caused a rift between father and daughter.

Eventually, Riley learned that she can just be herself and doesn't need to be like Maya. By doing so, she can help Maya become a better person. We also met Lucas, who was hinted as a possible love interest for Riley. Lots of cookie-cutter stuff going on, folks.

Overall, the first installment of GMW felt very Disney. Will kids fall in love with it? Most likely, as they should. As for grownups such as myself, it was interesting seeing Cory's now a teacher and is living happily ever after with Topanga.

Ultimately, though, GMW is a Disney show. It's probably best watched with a tween to truly appreciate and remember the jokes we once laughed at, lessons learned and shenanigans of growing up.

Take it from my 11-year-old cousin, Caitlin, who gives the new show a thumbs up. "Girl Meets World was funny and I can't wait to watch it again next week," she said. "I love Farkle because he's really weird, Riley's clothes and how Maya is unique and not afraid to be who she wants to be."

Sure, it's no surprise that the show's target demographic is aimed toward tweens like Caitlin, but I couldn't help but long to pull out my BMW DVDs and rehash the days when I was growing up.

The pilot left me kind of sad and basically wanting to relive the past but realizing that things just will never be the same again. I used to say growing up is for trees, but I'm slowly starting to retract that statement and think otherwise.

Other Thoughts:

  • With only half an hour, it was understandable that the first installment of GMW would be Topanga-lite. Nevertheless, I was really hoping we'd see just a bit more of her. The same goes for Mr. Feeny.
  • The funny thing is I could see so much of Feeny in Cory as a teacher. However, I'm not sure would he have let Maya's stunts fly.
  • I'm stoked old and familiar faces such as Shawn, Minkus and Cory's parents will all show up later this season.

Initially, I was apprehensively thinking that Riley and company could potentially bring back TGIF nights for me. However, the premiere just left me simply feeling old. Although my 20s are officially behind me, I still can't help but want to hang around and see what else is in store as girl will indefinitely meet world (or actually at least until she meets her grandparents and parents' old pals).

GMW is a show for today's generation, and maybe it's time to fall in love with the Matthews all over again.

What did you think of the Girl Meets World pilot? Did it make you nostalgic? Will you be back next Friday night? Grade the Girl Meets World pilot and let's talk about this new series in the comments!
