Ghosted Canceled at Fox After One Season!

Fox is sticking the fork in Ghosted.

In one of the least surprising moves of the season, the network has opted to cancel the series after one season.

What's more, the remaining three episodes may never see the light of day on the network since it has opted to pull the show from the Sunday schedule.

The series followed a skeptic and a genius who were recruited by an organization called The Bureau Underground to investigate unexplained activities in Los Angeles.

Ghosted Season 1 debuted in October with 3.6 million viewers and a 1.4 rating among adults 18-49. It benefited from inflated lead-ins thanks to football.

In fact, one episode even secured a 1.6 rating in the demo, which is a robust number for any network on the night. The show was placed on hiatus in January.

The reason for the hiatus is that Paul Lieberstein was drafted in to replace showrunner Kevin Etten midseason after it emerged that the network was not impressed with the direction of the series.

After a six month hiatus, Ghosted returned earlier this month, but without the big lead-ins, the series collapsed. The four June episodes averaged 1.2 million viewers and a 0.4 rating.

Fox has been changing focus of late, and there are even questions about whether the network will be airing scripted series in a few years.

Thursdays will be given up to Thursday Night Football in the fall, and the network has also snapped up WWE SmackDown for Fridays nights effective from October 2019.

Ghosted joins The Exorcist, The Mick, LA to Vegas, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Last Man on Earth, Lucifer, and The X-Files as the shows canceled by Fox.
