]]> In quite possibly the most depressing news to deliver on a Friday, Bret and Jermaine, the creators and stars of HBO’s Flight of the Conchords have announced the show will not be returning for a third season.

The critically acclaimed show ended its second season ambiguously with the duo returning to New Zealand, but fans were still holding out hope for a third season.

Unfortunately, the amazing duo announced on their website:

Bret, Jemaine and James (co-creator/director) said “we’ve noticed the less we say about the future of the show, the more people want to talk about it, so in an effort to reverse this trend we are today announcing that we won’t be returning for a 3rd season. We’re very proud of the two seasons we made and we like the way the show ended. We’d like to thank everyone who helped make the show and also everyone who watched it. While the characters Bret and Jemaine will no longer be around, the real Bret and Jemaine will continue to exist.

]]> The second season of Flight of the Conchords continued directly after the first with Murray representing the Crazy Dogggz and them riding high on their success. 

From there the season was full of adventures including the guys falling in love with the same woman, meeting the Prime Minister of New Zealand, and ending with the guys being deported.

]]> Last night was the season two and possibly series finale of HBO’s Flight of the Conchords.  The episode opens with a musical number by Bret that involves making a lot of noise and shortly after the two end up evicted.

]]> After playing music using vary household instruments, Bret and Jermaine get evicted from their apartment.  Not for making too much noise.  No, for paying their rent for the last couple years in New Zealand dollars and not US dollars.  The guys owe over $1,000 and there’s no way they’re paying it.  The guys go to tell their problem to Murray and he tells them it’s perfect, it follows the story of the musical he’s written about their rise to success (which they’ve yet to actually achieve).  The musical ends with their musical being a hit.  It has to be true if Murray wrote it down!

The guys asks to stay at Murray’s but they can’t because of his groping problem.  They go to stay at a hotel but the only room they can afford is the room where someone was murdered… that morning.  They end up staying at Mel’s but when the couple gets divorced, each guy has to go with a different “parent.”  The guys then put on their musical and it goes horrible and puts a little too much emphasis on how they’re illegal immigrants.   The guys end up being deported back to New Zealand and the show ends with them singing a song back in their country.  Stay tuned for season three.
