MTV has brought the axe down on Eye Candy.

The network has cancelled the freshman thriller after just one season, a rep for MTV has confirmed, as has star Victoria Justice.

"I wanted you guys to hear it from me first, that the cast and I received news that Eye Candy will not be returning for Season 2,” the actress Tweeted on Saturday, adding:

“Even though a lot of you are going to feel sad/angry, please know that playing Lindy Sampson, is something that I loved and I will hold dear to my heart."

Tonight's season finale of Eye Candy Season 1 Episode 10 was an exercise in frustration! After loving the last two episodes, I now wish the show had stopped while it was ahead.

Where to even begin? Oh, that's right, Jake's beginning.

Serial killers always have an origin story of some kind. Jake's sucked. At first we're led to believe that poor Jake was an innocent bystander when his dad decided to go into the kitchen and shoot himself next to his wife, who'd just overdosed. Before pulling the trigger Jake's dad advised him to one day pick a perfect girl, not make a mistake like he did and fall for a druggie.

Mmmkay, Jake became a serial killer because his dad had poor choice in women and he found his parents bodies? Weak, but possible. Maybe that trauma and the memory of his father's words could trigger that tendency.

But wait! Little Jakey wasn't an innocent bystander. He wanted to kill his mom, to put her out of her pain, so he grabs a needle from the trash, pulls up her sleeve, notices the follicles on her arm, perfectly inserts the needle into her vein and then plunges an air bubble in to her to kill her.

Kill. ME. Now.

What six year old, if he's even that old, would know how to do any of that? Even if he had watched his mom and could emulate her actions with the needle, there's no way in hell he knows he can kill her with an air bubble. Pure ludicrousness.

Then there's the scene where Lindy tells Tommy to go save Sophia and let her get hauled off by the killer. Okay, I get that she doesn't want anyone else to die because of her, but bitch, please. Jake is pointing his gun at Tommy. He's not pointing it at Lindy or using her body as a shield. Tommy could've easily killed him and then he and Lindy could've carried Sophia off the island together.

Heck, Lindy could easily have elbowed Jake in the face or shoved him off the stairs. Nope, she chooses to add insult to injury by telling Tommy she's leaving with the man she loves.

And this leads to an epic plot canyon and enough trauma to my psyche that you all should be very afraid now.

Somehow, during a twelve hour period in captivity with a man who knows her hacker history and is a computer genius in his own right, Lindy manages to contact George, tell him where she is, hash out a plan to spam Flirtual users with Jake's murderous mug and have Tommy and the police rush the area at just the right moment.

We see none of this come together! It's like they thought, "It'll be too hard to explain all that. Why bother?"

To which I say, "Why bother with season 2?"

Other things of note:

  • Learning that the narrator's voice came from an artificial intelligence computer program that Jake built was unexpected.
  • George was the best thing about the episode. Thank you for the laughs.
  • I'm intrigued that Sara faked her own kidnapping to keep Lindy safe.

If you missed the finale and want to judge for yourself where things went wrong, make sure to watch Eye Candy online.

What did you think? Feeling as murderous as I am?

March Madness is here and it's about to consume our lives! That doesn't mean there won't be a ton of TV to watch! Here's what we're watching this week at TV Fanatic!

The NCAA college basketball tournament also known as March Madness has descended upon us once again. Our brackets are ready and our DVRs are about to get REALLY full.

In the midst of all the hoops, we're saying hello and goodbye to some awesome television this week. Check out what we're watching here at TV Fanatic.

Who Will Do Better - Castle Season 7 Episode 17

iZombie Season 1 Episode 1 premieres tomorrow night and it promises to bring some laughs. A zombie who works in a morgue, eats brains, and gets visions when she does so? Sounds like a perfectly light-hearted counterbalance to AMC's The Walking Dead Season 5, which is about as dark and deadly as it gets.

On Friday night, Glee Season 6 signs off for good. The two-hour series finale promises to bring some tears. This ending has been a few years in the making but fans of the show will no doubt be touched in some way by its final bow.

Over on The CW, there's family drama with both The Originals and The Vampire Diaries. Dahlia's history will be unveiled and Damon will continue his quest to rescue Mama Salvatore from her 1903 prison world, despite warnings that it will mean there are TWO rippers on the loose.

So that's what we're watching this week, and now it's your turn. What are YOU excited to see? (And which team do you have going all the way?)

On the season finale of Eye Candy Season 1 Episode 10, Lindy's search for her sister leads her to a face off with the Flirtual Killer.

We see Jake as a young child. His dad tells him goodbye and then goes into the kitchen and shoots himself, right next to where his wife overdosed.

Tommy and Connor find Tessa's dead body in Lindy's apartment with Sophia's cell phone jammed into her skull. The phone warns them that both Lindy and Sophia will die if they follow or call the police. That means it's up to the two guys and George to save them.

Lindy starts connecting the dots and realizes that Jake is Flirtual. She confronts him and he freaks out, knocking her unconscious. She comes to in Mercy Shore's Women's Recovery Center on the island. It's the place where Jake's parents met. Dad was a criminal grave digger, mom was a druggie.

Jake wants Lindy to understand his story, their story. Just because dad couldn't find a perfect woman, doesn't mean he can't. Jake believes that Lindy is his perfect one and therefore he's willing to do anything for her, even kill.

He understands better than anyone how scars from your past can haunt you and he knows that Sara is Lindy's greatest wound. He symbolically recreates the night her little sister was kidnapped, but puts Sophia's life in danger. Then he gives Lindy the opportunity to save her and run, which she does.

The boys work their behind-the-scenes magic and figure out where the girls are. They get there just after Jake stabs Sophia. Lindy forces Tommy to save her friend over her.

Twelve hours later we see Jake and Lindy in a train station. He intends to visit her hometown to look for Sara, but Lindy steals his tablet with all the information about her sister, exposes Jake as the killer with George's help and has him arrested by Tommy.

On her way out of town, Lindy stops by the hospital to make sure Sophia is okay and has a goodbye cyber chat with Tommy. On the bus for home, she watches a video that exposes her sister's kidnapping as a fake. Sara staged her disappearance to keep Lindy safe.

Eye Candy Season 1 Episode 9 is the can't miss episode of the season as the identity of Lindy's tormentor, the face of the Flirtual Killer, is finally revealed.

The post Eye Candy Season 1 Episode 9 Review: FYEO appeared first on TV Fanatic.

]]>
Dammit! This was one time when I did not want to be right.

In what can only be described as a killer (sorry, couldn't resist) episode, Eye Candy Season 1 Episode 9 finally revealed the identity of Flirtual. Yes, that hottie Aussie, Jake, has been Lindy's tormentor all this time.

Eye Candy Season 1 Episode 8 really cemented my suspicion when Flirtual decimated any and all trust that Lindy had in Tommy. My gut screamed that the pain from that betrayal would have her running straight into Jake's arms and what better place for her to be if he were the actual killer. But, more about that later.

It's sad to know that Sara is lying there in box 3034. Hearing what she and the other girls endured makes it easy to understand how she could take her own life. The kidnapper was never caught. Could he and Jake be the same? Is it possible he learned about Lindy from Sara and that's why he's taking her to Hart Island? Did he feel cheated by one sister and decide to take it out on the other?

It was not a big surprise to learn that Hamish, scuz that he is, was the "curator" of Babylon. The only thing that sticks in my craw is knowing that he's free and rich and depraved enough to start all over again. He'll be back.

Connor: They think you own the Babylon portal.

Hamish: Own? Own is a very conventional way of looking at it. I prefer curate.

Connor: And that you know who the killer is. Or might actually be him.

Hamish: If only I had the time.

🔗 permalink: If only I had the time.

I'd started to guess that Tessa was ill when she purposefully met with Flirtual last week. Serial killer groupies are one thing, but she had a death wish. Now we know why. Here's the problem – I don't care.

Her storyline would've worked far better had she been a character from day one who we slowly watched spin out and unravel before courting a killer. As it is, she was an annoying side character from out of nowhere and I couldn't care less, other than she saved Sophia, so this didn't have the kind of impact it could have. Great idea, poor execution.

Now back to Lindy and Jake. The hardest part was seeing the romantic intimacy between them post-reveal. The way he took care of her, looked in her eyes, and touched her was dreamy and sigh-worthy.

The two have sizzling chemistry and Lindy desperately wanted to feel safe and loved in those moments and that's exactly what Jake gave her. He was her everything. I wanted all of those gestures to be genuine. And I suppose they were in a sense. I think Jake does love Lindy; all the narratives have said as much. So why does he inflict such agony upon her?

If Lindy thought Tommy's betrayal was bad, I can only imagine her devastation after learning she slept with the serial killer she's been hunting. That'll mess with your mind. That'll cause you to doubt yourself and everything you've known. As it is, I find myself asking Ryan Cooper, "Why you gotta do me this way? You made me love you, want you and then this?!?" And did anyone else think his Aussie accent dropped away in the previews? Say it isn't so!

There are only two episodes left. With MTV still holding mum about a possible second season, I wonder if we'll have our questions answered or if we'll be devastated with the mother of all cliff hangers. You know, the kind where characters remain hanging off a cliffside by their fingertips for eternity and viewers have to write their own endings?

At most, even if the finale (series or season) raises new questions, I hope we learn a few answers to the following – WHY has Jake has been stalking Lindy, killing for her, torturing her? What does he want from her? Does he really love her? Who is he, really?

But, more importantly, will Tommy get there in time to save Lindy or will she have to save herself? Frankly, I'd like to see her be her own hero. She has the advantage of knowing he's injured and (hopefully) that he loves her.

If you have yet to watch this thrilling episode, be sure to watch Eye Candy online.

What did you think about the reveal? Are you afraid of how it will end? Did you care about Tessa? Do you think that Jake really loves Lindy? What do you predict will happen next?

Oliver's body is found in the basement of IRL.

Lindy barges into the Sarge house and demands answers about her sister. She's told that seven girls were kidnapped, but only six were recovered. One of the survivors was Catherine's niece, Mary, and she knew Sara. Unfortunatelu, Mary believed that Sara OD'd as a means of escape.

Tessa continues to act abnormally reckless so Sophia does some snooping and then confronts her friend. Turns out that Tessa DOES have a death wish. She's got a brain tumor and that's why she's been courting danger with the Flirtual Killer. She wants him to put her out of her misery.

The Flirtual Killer attempts to kill Catherine shortly after Lindy left her house. The Sarge survives, but barely. Tommy invites Lindy to the hospital and asks for her help tracking down the killer,  but she refuses after learning of their betrayal.

Lindy learns about a Jane Doe who died of an overdose during the time period Mary mentioned and is buried on Hart Island, where unclaimed bodies go. Lindy and Jake track down the deceased's file, but the photo is missing. Jake suggest they just sneak on the island and dig her up themselves, rather than petition for an exhumation which could take months. En route their car breaks down so they stay at a bed and breakfast. Despite Jake having some seriously bruised ribs, thanks to a collision with a bike messenger, he and Lindy make love. She wakes up the next morning feeling extra groggy, but happy.

Tommy figures out that Hamish is behind the Babylon darknet and convinces Connor to help him break into the Reconnoiter server to see if he might be the killer too. Hamish gets wise to their plans and makes a deal with Tommy. He'll give him an easy way to permanently shut down Babylon and give him a clue to the killer, but in return he gets off scot-free. Tommy agrees and the clue points to Jake.

While Sophia is in the shower, the Flirtual killer shows up to off her but is discovered by Tessa who begs him to take her life instead. He heeds her wishes.

Yeager asks a newly conscious Sarge who the killer is. She writes down Jake, just as Lindy gets on a boat for a desolate island with her lover/stalker.
