NBC has been very busy tonight as they severed the ties with one elaborate production and picked two new shows up to series for the fall schedule. Read on.

NBC has been getting busy now that the threat of the writers' strike has passed and the upfronts are looming.

Fans of Emerald City have to make peace with the ending of that extravagant series, because what's done is done.

That's right, NBC has decided not to move forward with a second season.

A Formidable Force - Emerald City Season 1 Episode 10
(David Lukacs/NBC)

The Wizard of Oz movie and the books by Frank I. Baum were successful.

Everything else that has come after has been somewhat challenging, to say the least.

That's not to say Emerald City didn't have its fans, but audiences roared more about whether or not the series was remaining true to source material than they took the time to enjoy what was presented to them, and that didn't make for an enjoyable experience overall.

If anybody is asking for my opinion, here it is: Let the originals rest on their beauty and the others fall away from memory.

Rise on NBC
(NBC)

NBC picked up two dramas for the fall schedule. Both were early contenders and had already started fully staffing their writers' rooms. Surprise! They're official now.

Rise (formerly known as Drama High) comes from Jason Katims (Parenthood, Friday Night Lights) and centers on a dedicated teacher and family man Lou Mazzuchelli (Josh Radnor) who gains the self confidence he needs to take over the local high school's theater department.

What he achieves with the department not only inspires and motivates the faculty, but invigorates the entire working class town.

Theater Students on Rise
(Peter Kramer/NBC)

The series stars Radnor, Rosie Perez and Marley Shelton, as well as a young cast featuring Moana star Auli’i Cravalho. Damon J. Gillespie, Amy Forsyth, Rarmian Newton, Ted Sutherland, Casey Johnson, Taylor Richardson, Joe Tippett and Shirley Rumierk also-co-star.

Stranger Things standout Shannon Purser (BARB!!!) has a recurring role.

For God and Country Cast
(Jeff Riedel/NBC)

For God and Country has also been picked up to series.

There are a lot of military-themed dramas in the works at various networks. We here at TV Fanatic greatly enjoyed SIX on History and look forward to a few more catching on across the dial.

The series, starring Anne Heche and Mike Vogel, is described as heart-pounding journey into the complex world of America’s elite undercover military heroes.

Heche is D.I.A. Deputy Director Patricia Campbell, whose team of analysts wield the world’s most advanced surveillance technology from Washington, D.C.

Anne Heche on For God and Country
(Simon Mein/NBC)

Vogel is Adam Dalton, who has works in coordination with Campbell with his heroic Special Ops squad of highly trained undercover specialists using their unbreakable bond and commitment to freedom to save lives of innocent people and execute missions in some of the most dangerous places in the world.

NBC The cast includes Anne Heche, Mike Vogel, Sofia Pernas, Tate Ellington, Natacha Karam, Demetrius Grosse, Noah Mills and Hadi Tabbal.

What do you think?

Are you upset about the cancelation of Emerald City? Did you have ideas on how the series could have been salvaged for a second season?

Do either of the new series calls to your heart? Which one sounds like a winner?

While you're pondering the wins, you can watch Emerald City online to make your open wound feel better.

On the season finale of Emerald City, the witches finally face off against the Wizard, but will Dorothy be able get home? Read on for our review!

Right now, I have a love/hate relationship going on with Emerald City.

If the series ends with Emerald City Season 1 Episode 10, I will not be a happy camper. Not just because I've enjoyed the series and want to see a second season, but also because there were too many questions left unanswered.

Sorry, David Schulner and Shaun Cassidy. The story isn't complete.

Janie's Got a Gun - Emerald City Season 1 Episode 10
(David Lukacs/NBC)

The best part about the entire Emerald City series was West and Tip. There was nothing that could compare to their chemistry and camaraderie. They were perfect together.

I loved how they each looked out for one another, like a mother and daughter. It was beautiful to watch.

It's just too bad Tip had to give up who he really wanted to be to fulfill his destiny. Once he put on that crown, Tip was no more.

I was sort of torn about what Ozma did to Eamonn. It would have been much easier if she would have killed him, but what she did was much more cruel. To take away his family's memories of him so they had no idea who he was was the ultimate punishment.

I bet Eamonn wishes he wouldn't have just killed her when he had the chance. But he was acting on Frank's orders. If he didn't do what Frank wanted then who knows what kind of horribleness Frank would have done to Eamonn's family.

Not that what Eamonn did was right, but he had to make a choice. And it's something he had to live with for the rest of his life.

I'm guessing that he was the one who brought Ozma to Mombi to hide, but how did he know about Mombi? And why did she agree to keep Tip as Tip for him? What did she get out of the deal?

Ozma became a little bitch at the end too. How did she go from being so compassionate to being so cruel? Is that what power does to someone? Wasn't it enough that she took his family away from him? What was the point of casting him out as well?

Dorothy showed some of her wrath as well after Frank went crazy on the witches and tried to slaughter them with the guns. She'd seen enough and went after Frank, but as it turned out the guns didn't do anything to the witches but stun them for a bit.

The biggest question I have is what exactly is Dorothy? Is she a witch? And if she is, does that mean Jane is a witch too?

Because if Dorothy's not a witch then how was she able to use East's magic?

And why did Jane send Dorothy back to Kansas while she stayed behind? Was Jane the real Wizard of Oz and Frank was just her curtain?

I always wondered how it was that Frank was able to gain control over the witches and it would make sense that there was a woman behind him who was the brains of the outfit. Doesn't it?

Why else would she stay behind if she really didn't have to? Why wouldn't she have gone home to be with her daughter? Why send her with Karen?

Glinda had her standoff with Dorothy, but nothing really came of it. They sort of stared each other down then they all went back to Emerald City.

Glinda was a bitch to West, which wasn't surprising and nothing seemed to be accomplished on that front. She didn't seem very impressed that Ozma was back.

Why couldn't West just zap some sense into her sister? Why does she always seem to be groveling around Glinda? I'd love to see a showdown between the two of them. West would kick her ass once she got her groove on.

It was disappointing to see Frank die the way he did, even if it was poetic justice.

But it's also disappointing that Vincent D'Onofrio will be done with the series if it's picked up for a second season. I loved his portrayal of Frank, and his absolute meltdown at the end was phenomenal.

Don't even get me started on the violence that came to Jack. Was it all really that necessary? Were the soldiers just taking out their anger and frustration on the helpless Jack because they could?

I'm glad he survived, but still. He didn't deserve what happened to him. What was the point of all that violence?

A Formidable Force - Emerald City Season 1 Episode 10

I'm not too happy with how the season ended. It would have been nice to have had all of our questions answered…to have some sort of sound conclusion should the series not be renewed (ala The Exorcist), The red-skinned man was enough of a tease to make me want to tune in again next season.

And I really like how it ended with Lucas and Dorothy reuniting, but did it really make sense that he was there to take her home? If Jane wanted her home, why send her back to Kansas in the first place? Or was that him telling her he was bringing her home?

See what I mean?

What did you think of the season finale?

Will you be satisfied if the series ends? What questions do you need answered?

Nahala is talking to the red man asking him to spare Ojo's life. He pulls a skin down from the trees and puts it on.

Eamonn sees an army of witches coming towards the Emerald City and demands his guards man the walls. The flying monkeys go crazy. Something or someone else has control. The droids spell OZMA in the sky and the witches break into Emerald City with Ozma at the head.

West is by her side giving guidance.

Frank goes to his encampment in Ev. Dorothy is there waiting. They discuss next steps. He shows Dorothy the guns.

Ozma and West meet Eamonn who is dressed as the lion. He surrenders his sword and she takes off his mask. She questions his motives for killing her parent and sparing her. She demands the guards bring her his family. she takes away their memories of him as his punishment. They don't know who he is. He is then cast out of Emerald City forever.

West gives Ozma her crown and bows down in front of her when she finally puts it on, making a conscious choice to be Queen Ozma and give up Tip forever.

Jane is following Jack who is on his way to find the Wizard, ax in hand.  Wizard cowers, but Jane stops him before Jack kills him. He tells her Dorothy, her daughter is here. She goes to find Dorothy and The Wizard's life is spared.

A huge swarm of locusts (the white witches) arrives at the encampment. Dorothy uses  her magic to slow the locusts down. Glinda appears to her.  Then she brings out Sylvie and Sylvie works on destroying the giant. Dorothy can't convince Sylvie, but she animates the other stone giant in Emerald City that puts its spear down in the wtich's temples. It causes Glinda to temporarily lose her magic.

The Wizard shoots Sylvie and the rest of the soldiers start killing witches. The soldiers start chopping up Jack after he tries to attack using his ax.

Dorothy hunts the Wizard using her magic to throw away guards. Frank runs, but falls and Dorothy raises the gun to Frank. Then all of a sudden the witch's rise. The guns didn't kill them. So, how did Dorothy's gun kill East?

Back in the prison of the abject, the red man rises.

Glinda returns to Emerald City to find the temple destroyed. Dorothy and Frank arrive as well. West is waiting with Ozma and greets Glinda. Glinda is not being very nice. She doesn't want to work with West and Ozma. She wants only magic to rule Oz not magic and reason.

Jack is nearly dead in the field. He sees the Red Man flying to Emerald City.

Dorothy takes Frank to the tank to return home. Frank doesn't want to go back. He's loses control. He tells her about Karen Chapman and that she is not her mother. Jane shoots Frank and he dies. Dorothy thinks he's the only one who knows how to use the machine, but Jane does and she sends Dorothy home while she stays behind. Why does she stay behind? Why can't she go with Dorothy back to Kansas?

Dorothy is back in Kansas at Karen's trailer after the tornado. Karen is still alive.

It's a few days afterwards and Dorothy isn't much in the mood for anything, including eating. She's going to leave to see Karen in the hospital but Aunt Em wants to talk to her for a little bit. Aunt Em's fingers are black like West's from cracking walnuts.

Dorothy goes to take a walk by the scarecrow when Lucas shows up with Toto. Jane needs her back. Why? She just sent her back home. Why didn't she keep her there? What's the purpose? And how did Jane know about Lucas?

Dorothy needs to go back to stop the Beast Forever. He's going to bring her "home."

On Emerald City Season 1 Episode 9, Dorothy takes matters into her own hands with both Lucas and the Wizard while Tip discovers her true self. Read on!

It was a life and death kind of day on Emerald City Season 1 Episode 9 as Dorothy fought Lucas, West and Tip fought other witches, and Lanwidere fought the Wizard.

Not everyone made it out alive.

At least now we know why Langwidere was such a nutjob. She was more machine than human which rendered her incapable of emotion.

Still, it didn't make her death any easier.

Jack was devastated when he accidentally killed her. The bullet was meant for the Wizard.

Who would have thought that one simple gun would have led to such destruction? Had Dorothy not brought the gun with her from Kansas, perhaps none of this would have ever happened.

But she did and the guns are here to stay.

Frank is a lot smarter than he looks. And yes, I'm calling him Frank. The only thing he's a wizard of is idiocy. I'm still having a hard time trying to understand what he possibly could have done to have taken over Oz the way he did.

What kind of threats did he make to cause her to back down and keep her mouth shut?

She could have broken everything wide open if she had stood up and called out Frank for the fraud he is.

That's what I liked so much about Langwidere. She wasn't afraid to stand up to Frank while everyone else cowered around him.

The only disappointing thing about that is why did she have to be a machine to be able to do that? Why couldn't she have been a real woman standing up to a bully?

But it is what it is and it doesn't make Langwidere any less the heroine that she was for doing what she did.

Why was she hiding behind all those masks? Only her father saw her as she truly was, she said once. And even the final face we saw was a mask to hide her true self.

It was a little shocking, especially for Jack. I'm not sure he'll ever be able to get over killing Langwidere. Accident or not.

And even though she can be brought back to life (because she's really not dead), it wouldn't be the same. The whole idea of Langwidere is ruined for him now.

Frank was rather crafty with his plan on getting into the kingdom, and I wanted to smack the smug look off of his face when he was in the cable car going up to the palace.

Bastard is too kind of a term for him. I hope he gets what's coming to him sooner rather than later.

Tip finally realized she needed to be what she was always meant to be: Princess Ozma. Sure she felt better in her skin as a boy, but that wasn't going to help the situation.

You have to give her a lot of credit for sacrificing herself to save West, but now that she's fully embraced her destiny as Princess Ozma…Frank better watch out.

Tip and Ozma have been the dream team and now they've become the super dream team. I imagine Tip is going to keep West as her right-hand woman. Without West she wouldn't be where she is right now.

The same could be said for West. Had Tip not shown up when she did, West would be dead.

I love the dynamic between these two, and I look forward to seeing them and their army of witches take down Frank.

Hopefully, Glinda won't get in the way. Where was Glinda this hour, anyway?

Dorothy has had enough of everything at this point. Who can blame her?

She needs to take Toto home and make him a nice, juicy steak dinner for saving her life. Had it not been for the dog, Dorothy wouldn't be reviving stone giants.

I'm not sure how she's planning to take Frank with her back to Kansas. What is she going to do with him once they get back? Turn him over to authorities for being a jackass? Just let him live until he rots?

Instead of sending him back, she should let the witches have him. Or better yet, Jack. He's pretty pissed off right now and might be able to serve up some up justice to Frank.

Who wouldn't want the guy's head on a platter?

Collision Course - The Expanse

Dorothy tried to free Nahala, but she was too far gone. What's interesting is why didn't West release the red guy who was trapped in a tree? It makes me think he might be something bigger than just a man. Could he actually be a true wizard?

We only have one episode left to get all the answers to so many questions. Will Emerald City be able to pull it off?

There were a lot of surprises on Emerald City Season 1 Episode 8, as West learned the truth about Tip, Dorothy learned the truth about Lucas, and The Wizard learned the truth about Queen Ev.

Lady Ev - Emerald City
(David Lukacs/NBC)

Let's just get this out of the way first. The best scene of the hour, by far, was when Queen Ev's servants asked Jack if he needed his "odd parts" oiled.

The look on Jack's face after that line was delivered was perfect.  Jack and Langwidere are such the perfect couple. I think I would enjoy a series based just on those two characters.

It was heartbreaking to watch him walk away from her after she released her hold on him, but something tells me he won't be staying away for long. He cares about her too much to leave forever. Where would he go anyway?

Although Langwidere may be a hot mess in the love department, she's definitely got it together in the leadership one.

She's not about to get pushed around by The Wizard, no matter how great and powerful he thinks he is. I loved that she took Frank's gun idea and made weapons for her team and not his. And I love that she doesn't consider herself part of his team.

The Wizard thought it was going to be an easy win but got the surprise of his life when he found himself on the other end of those guns.

I'm still curious as to what Frank did to convince the people of Oz that he was so great and powerful because all he seems to be is a bully. What could he have possibly done to make anyone think he was greater than magic?

Langwidere wasn't afraid to stand up to him, but Frank has a large army behind him, and I don't see him taking this act of defiance very well. Defeat is an unacceptable word in Frank's vocabulary.

We'll have to wait and see how it turns out, but Frank is definitely not walking away from this.

One thing I don't understand is why does Frank think he can kill the witches with guns? Wasn't it already established that only witches can kill witches?

Dorothy finally showed she has some grit. She should have strung Lucas up along with Glinda when she had the opportunity. Maybe that would snap him out of his denial that he loves Dorothy and not Glinda.

Why Glinda didn't kill Dorothy is beyond me. If I knew someone was trying to kill me and then actually tried to, I wouldn't be sending my wimpy husband after her. I'd go after her myself and end it right there.

Instead, Glinda just whined about Lucas not protecting her while Dorothy got away.

I'm not quite understanding Dorothy's powers. Is she a witch? Why can she use East's powers only some of the time?

Glinda has got some ice in her veins. There's nothing good about that witch. She can't even show an ounce of empathy for her own sister. It was obvious West was distraught, but it didn't faze Glinda at all.

Maybe if she were a nicer person, it would fan out to other aspects of her life.

West won the prize when she discovered that Tip was Princess Ozma. Tip didn't want to believe she was a princess because she'd prefer to be a prince, but she is going to be what she's going to be.

West was devastated when Tip died. She loves Tip so much perhaps because Tip is just like her…or maybe like she was when she was younger and not so poppied up and under Frank's control.

That's why it was so sad when she went to Glinda to find her mother only to be shunned by the icy bitch of the north. Had Glinda shown some compassion perhaps West wouldn't have tried to kill herself.

The Truth? - The Vampire Diaries

It was a sad sight watching it all play out, but maybe now that Tip's returned from the dead, she can save West.  Hopefully, Tip will be able to breathe new life into West, because not only does West need it…she deserves it.

Then she and Tip can go and kick Glinda's ass. Wouldn't that be great?!

We finally learned who the lion was but it wasn't all that shocking. The only question is why didn't he kill Ozma and how did Frank miss him not killing the child?

Overall, it was a pretty exciting hour, but like every hour before, we are left with many questions which hopefully will answered before the season ends. There's only two more episodes left, folks.

Poor Dorothy.

I bet she wishes she could click her heels three times to take back what she said to Lucas on Emerald City Season 1 Episode 7.  Not that it would have mattered, anyway. but Lucas really dug the knife in when he threw her words back at her at Glinda's castle.

I'm not a big fan of Dorothy. She's flat, annoying, and an absolute bore. She can't even take care of her dog, but she thinks she can take care of a child?

Dorothy doesn't know what she wants. She claims she's appreciative of Aunt Em and Uncle Henry, yet the only reason she really wants to go home is to find her mother.

That's the only focus of this woman who can't even crack a smile after she gets laid. Notice how Lucas pointed that out when they were laying in bed together?

Doesn't she make you want to slap her silly? To knock some personality into her boring, glum self?

But Dorothy is all about Dorothy.

It wasn't until Sylvie shook things up that Dorothy finally started to think of someone other than herself. Why wouldn't she have thought to bring Sylvie and Lucas back to Kansas with her in the first place?

Trio in the North - Emerald City Season 1 Episode 7
(David Lukacs/NBC)

If she cared so much about the two of them, why would she leave them behind, especially knowing The Beast Forever was coming to kill everyone in Oz?

For her to tell Lucas that Aunt Em and Uncle Henry "came first" was kind of silly. As I said, she doesn't want to go back to them. She wants to go back for her mother. It's still very selfish on her part.

And it was hurtful for her to say that to Lucas.

But what goes around comes around, because Lucas stuck it to Dorothy after Glinda broke the spell he was under.

And how did Dorothy react to this surprise of surprises? By being her SAME BORING SELF! All that came out of her mouth was a wimpy, little, "Lucas?" That was it. You'd think she might have shown a little bit more spirit when another woman kissed her man.

Sorry, but I don't feel sorry for Dorothy at all.

Did anyone else laugh out loud when Glinda made that snarky remark about naming Sylvie and Lucas? Glinda might have been thankful to Dorothy for bringing her husband and child back to her (I'm only guessing Lucas is her husband), but now that she knows the true reason for Dorothy's visit, it's not going to be pretty.

Who's going to save Dorothy now?

The only thing that might is the uncontrolled magic she possesses. I don't know about anyone else, but the whole scene with the wolves made absolutely no sense.

Message to the People - Emerald City Season 1 Episode 7
(David Lukacs/NBC)

The Wizard has his own problems. The little big man has lost control and is bullying everyone around him. Even West.

If she can use her magic to save her sister witches, why can't she use her magic to kill Frank? I wish she'd get herself out of her opium funk and do something other than continuing to help him out.

Does she not realize she can kick his ass with one twirl of her hand?

Enough is enough. She really needs to get herself together.

I loved that Tip stuck to West's side, helping her through this crisis she's going through. West really trusts her, and hopefully their relationship blossoms even more.

Maybe it will be Tip that shakes West out of her funk, especially now that it's been revealed that Tip may be Princess Ozma. Though, it could go downhill fast if West shares that information with Frank. The sh*t will hit the fan if that happens, no doubt.

A Journey - Emerald City Season 1 Episode 7
(David Lukacs/NBC)

Langwidere is out of her mind. She can't decide if she wants to be a good girl or a bad girl, and she's confusing the heck out of Jack, but at least she's got spunk.

I don't which side of her she was showing in the screaming forest, but there a definite sexual vibe to her rubbing the oil all over Jack the way she did. He certainly found what she was doing pleasurable.

I just wish Jack would have let us see what she really looked like once they were back home. I was looking forward to see what was behind that mask. Maybe next time.

"They Came First" was a rather "meh" hour of Emerald City. There are still many more questions than there are answers,  I'm having a hard time continuing to buy into the Wizard's power, and Dorothy has been nothing but a bore (for how many episodes now?)

Happy Family - Emerald City Season 1 Episode 7

There are only three more episodes left of Emerald City, and there's still a lot of story to cover. Will it be able to tidy it all up before the season ends?

The man with the gun wins.

The Wizard lost control on Emerald City Season 1 Episode 6 and did the unthinkable to the one and only person who may have really been on his side.

Alliances and Plans - Emerald City
(Rico Torres/NBC)

I don't know about you guys, but I can't believe he shot Anna.

Okay, I can believe it. I just can't believe he did it. I'm still in shock.

If only she would have gone to him earlier and told him the truth of what she knew which was nothing.

But at that moment he was so angry, shooting her was the only way he could get back at her for her betrayal. There was no more talking. He needed to show everyone he had the ultimate power. That what he had was more powerful than magic.

What he did to Anna did indeed capture everyone's attention. There is no doubt that Lady Ev is going to help him build the arsenal he needs to fight The Beast Forever or Glinda or whatever comes his way.

The people of the land of Oz were so innocent before Frank and friends came along. Jane and Karen didn't seem to want to disturb the purity of  what they had come upon, but Frank had no problems.

Oz was a way for him to be what he could never be in Kansas. A God.

He was a nothing when he lived in Kansas. An ignored man. A wallflower that no one care about. It's not that he wasn't trying to be more, he just couldn't move up the ladder.

I'm not quite sure what he was planning with the vortex. Obviously, he had no idea there was a parallel universe out there or whatever you want to call Oz, but he knew he was doing something he wasn't supposed to when he messed with the computer.

After living in Oz for a while, helping Karen with Dorothy, he really thought he would be living the life until Jane told them East was going to send them home.

It's strange that East would have sent everyone home but him. It  makes me think he made some sort of deal with East to keep him here.

It also would answer the question of why Ojo's wife was in the mud prison. Somehow, Frank was involved with that as he wasn't too happy when Nahala showed him up with her magic just when he was impressing the young Munchkins.

That moment was a turning point for Frank. What remains to be seen, though, is how he was able to convince East to work with him, if that's really what happened.

West - Emerald City Season 1 Episode 6
(David Lukacs/NBC)

Did he scare her somehow with his Walkman?

It's also interesting how Nahala created a stone man. Is that what gave Frank the idea for the stone men and did he have Nahala make the men before she was sent to prison?

Which brings us to Sylvie. Could Sylvie be Ojo's daughter? We now know she is indeed a witch and was being protected by Lucas for Glinda.

But where did all the little witches come from? I'm going to guess they came from the small villages like Ojo's.

It's just too bad that Sylvie accidentally killed the King of Ev. The guy was an innocent, but Sylvie had no idea. She was frightened, and what she did was her only defense. She probably didn't even do it purposely. There's no way she knows how to hone her magic. At least not yet.

Sylvie and Toto - Emerald City Season 1 Episode 6
(David Lukacs/NBC)

So where is Glinda hiding all her little witches? Was she working with East all along? Why keep West in the dark? And is the mother witch really still alive?

West is being made a fool. She's out of the loop on everything. It's possible she might have encouraged Frank to do away with magic which might be the reason why she's on the outside looking in. She said something a few episodes back about loving the fact she didn't have to use magic anymore.

I'd really like to delve into West's backstory to see how her and the Wizard got together. How did Glinda end up providing him with the high council while West ended up with a lowly brothel?

Dorothy: I don’t trust you. Look at you. The way you dress. The way you act. That wig. You’re just lying to everyone.

The Wizard. Ugh. I could say the same about you. We do what we need to survive.

🔗 permalink: I don’t trust you. Look at you. The way you dress. The way you act. That wig. You’re just…

I don't believe for a minute that Frank trusts Dorothy. He loved Karen for sure, but he hated Dorothy's father. Maybe he thought at one point that he would raise Dorothy as his own, but Jane ruined that.

Right now, Dorothy and Frank are using each other, and they both know it too.

It's a very interesting game they're playing. Two selfish people playing a very selfish game.

The Women's Prison - Grey's Anatomy

Tip and Jack finally came together, but the outcome was not pretty. Lady Ev certainly made it known that Jack was hers and Tip better step away.

It didn't matter anyway as Jack was very angry with Tip for leaving him the way she did, not even checking on him to see if he was still alive.

But why didn't he want to show Tip what he was made out of? If he was that angry, he would have had no problem showing her what she did to him. He wouldn't have waiting for Lady Ev to demand him to show Tip his broken heart.

Still, had they had more time, they might have been able to talk about what happened. Right now they are both tethered to someone else, but it may be they come together once again to escape from those chains.
