Dominion, which just ended its second season run on Syfy, has been canceled.

That was one hell of a finale, though I'm surprised they went with a cliffhanger.

With Syfy's record of axing low-rated series early on, we just might be waiting to meet a corporeal Lucifer for all eternity. I'm not saying I wouldn't love a third season, mind you. As a matter of fact, I've mentioned several times in my reviews that Dominion deserves more time to tell its story. It's just that Syfy's record speaks for itself.

That said, Dominion Season 2 Episode 13 was a bit of a downer. One leading lady died, and the other sold her soul to the Devil. The Chosen One just can't catch a break man.

What a long way Alex has come since inheriting those markings from Jeep in the Pilot. I'm not sure we've seen anything quite as impressive as that mass eviction. While I understand that incident drained him, I can't help but wish he'd been able to save Claire. You know, evict Duma from Riesen while the Dyad babbled on. Yeah that one hurt, and I'm not sure I'll get over her death any time soon. More on that later.

The moment Riesen/Duma arrived in Vega, you got a sense someone's story was coming to a close. In Mallory, however, another story was just getting started. Michael came full circle, lying in front of the burning man pyre in that quaint little town. In retrospect, though we did not spend as much time there as in Vega or New Delphi, it's the Mallory arc I enjoyed most. What a great payoff too, right?

One of the highlights of this hour, was going back 25 years to see Charlie again.

Gabriel: The child’s death will break Michael’s fever over the humans and bring him back to our cause. This extermination will work, which is why Father gave only me the seal.

🔗 permalink: The child’s death will break Michael’s fever over the humans and bring him back to our cause….

My disappointment in Noma started in Dominion Season 2 Episode 12. Learning she was responsible for Charlie's death sealed my dislike for the character. Noma always seemed so straightforward, dedicated and in love with Alex. Now we know that guilt and a life debt were her true motivation.

Yes, she sacrificed her wings to honor that debt, but she's got a lovely new white pair now. What does that say about the character? The writers might surprise me in Season 3, but I seriously doubt I will ever like her in the same way after these revelations.

Speaking of revelations, learning that Michael never destroyed Lucifer's body was a game-changer. Michael's so damn sentimental, which more often than not gets him in hot water. Still, it's also what makes him almost human and the reason we love him. You've got to take the good with the bad, right?

Claire deciding to face her father sealed her fate. Her line to Alex, "This is goodbye, isn't it?" was a dead giveaway. Though the character had an interesting arc this season, I can't help but be disappointed she was killed off. Her pregnancy seemed like such an important twist, but went nowhere. She and Alex appeared to be very much in love in the first season, yet it turned out he'd fallen in love with the treacherous Noma. Claire fell for Gates, only to lose him when he sacrificed himself to save Vega.

Did you have to deal our heroine such a tragic hand guys? Yeah, I'm totally bummed we lost Roxanne McKee. Damn you writers!

Despite Noma's questionable choices, she spared Alex as a baby. So there's that.

Noma: I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t do it.

Michael: Of all who serve, you hold the highest place in my heart. Why did you let him live?

Noma: I was going to do it, but right before my sword fell I felt him. Our Father. His presence all around the baby. It was so strong.

🔗 permalink: Why did you let him live?

The Prophet setting Gabriel on fire surprised me, but I knew the archangel wouldn't go out like that. I loved that the volunteers sacrificing themselves was healing Lucifer. The last pure heart would have made a nice addition to his collection, but that's never going to happen. I must admit, Michael realizing Noma had struck a deal was chilling.

Arika and David shared some wonderful moments in the finale. Can you believe they both survived the season? I'm ready to visit Helena now, aren't you? Though William is "dead," he's the one character that experienced a supernatural event out in the desert. Part of me still wants to believe he'll be back. Is it possible he was a Dyad all along?

It was great to see Langley Kirkwood again. Alex & Jeep's story came full circle.

Michael: Gabriel sent angels to kill the child. Charlie gave her life protecting him. We tried to save her, but too late. Alex may not be your son by blood, but he’s your responsibility now. Will you protect him?

Jeep: I’ll protect him with my life.

🔗 permalink: I’ll protect him with my life.

Alex's eulogy for Claire was gut-wrenching. Yes, Christopher Egan made my eyes water up. Such solid performances from every single cast member this season, right? Which reminds me, it was brilliant to get one final scene with Simon Merrells. I honestly believe he single-handedly helped elevate the series and made the actors around him want to step up their game.

I guess a taste of Lucifer was better than nothing. He looked pretty damn wicked too. Noma's white wings were absolutely gorgeous. Do you think Alex realized she had made an arrangement with Lucifer? If, no scratch that, when the third season renewal announcement comes it's going to be the twins against their big brother. That's right, Lucifer is our next big bad and if that's not reason enough for more Dominion, I don't know what is.

Overall, this proved to be a very strong finale. It did not feel rushed like last year and all the storylines had some kind of resolution. Everyone brought their A game this year, the writers, directors, actors and composer Bill Brown's score was perfection. NBC/Universal and Syfy, we're counting on you to renew this wonderfully unique series. Please don't let us down.

Thank you to the cast and crew for an outstanding second season and here's to #3!!!

That was a phenomenal finale, wasn't it? What did you think of "Sine Deo Nihil"? Did Claire's death shock you? How do you feel about Noma now? Did you suspect Lucifer was in Mallory all along? Your turn folks, go ahead and sound off in the comments below.

Michael informed Gabriel that their brother, Lucifer, is alive on Dominion Season 2 Episode 12. Which character's jouney came to an end?

Yeah, I'm a total sucker for flashbacks. Watching Gabriel start the war was everything!

As a matter of fact, I would have loved to see more of 2016 and less of Claire making terrible decisions and the archangels fighting in the present. Will Arika be as merciful when her army attacks Vega in Season 3? Won't David continue to fight for power?

I think Claire just sealed her fate, and ultimately she only has herself to blame.

Dominion Season 2 Episode 12 was a tease. Syfy should have aired a 2-hour finale.

If Alex destroyed the amphora of Darkness, why was Gabriel still under its influence? Sure, it made for some great fight scenes, but that irrational hatred of Michael just isn't Gabe. Will the Darkness conveniently disappear when the time comes to face Lucifer next week?

By the way, if we don't meet the Morning Star in the finale I'm going to be pissed. Clearly, he's going to be our big bad next season.

While the brothers fought, Alex and Noma made their way to Claire. How did Arika get out of her cell? Her worst nightmare wasn't reason enough to let her live. Not that I want Shivani Ghai gone, mind you. I just didn't understand where this sudden trust came from.

And David, who orchestrated the civil war continues to draw breath. Why?!? Claire had no problem shooting Zoe point blank in the head, but the puppet masters live on. Eeeeesh! As I said at the top, if she dies at their hands Claire has only herself to blame.

Hey, at least her reunion with Alex came quickly.

Claire: Alex, I don’t want this to be the end.

Alex: We survived the Darkness. I’m not dying today. Neither are you.

🔗 permalink: Alex, I don’t want this to be the end.

That wide shot of the 8-ball army was something else, right? While Claire went to arm the cannons, Alex's plan was to meet the entire army head on. What?!? I mean, I realize he's the Chosen One, but come on, was he planning to perform a mass eviction? Is that even possible? The Chosen One's brave, I just wish he'd look before he leaps.

Elsewhere, Gabriel and Michael fought to the death. For me, the highlights of this installment were the 2016 flashbacks. How bright and colorful 2016 was until Gabriel unleashed his "gift." I always wondered exactly how Gabe released the lower angels. Now we know, God left him The Seventh Seal. I'm still not sure why father entrusted Gabe with the apocalypse. I'm assuming his resentment of mankind had something to do with it. Even Gabriel wasn't sure if God wanted him to break the seal.

Michael spoke of Raphael's prophecy, but it fell on deaf ears.

Michael: No, Raphael’s prophecy foretells a chosen one. We must find him together.

Gabriel: You’ll forgive me if I don’t put much stock in Raphael’s prophecies. She has a rather spotty record when it comes to predicting the future. No there is only one way to bring father back and it’s in my hands.

Michael: Gabriel please, don’t do this. If you break that seal… No!

Gabriel: There, it’s done.

🔗 permalink: No, Raphael’s prophecy foretells a chosen one. We must find him together.

The 2016 chaos was impressively shot. Nice job Deran Sarafian! How about that airplane falling, eh? There were tons of extras running about as angels possessed humans left and right. Again, I would have loved to spend more time in 2016, though I'm not sure how they could have pulled that off.

It's just that the extermination war seems far more interesting to me than what's going on in Vega. I guess one could always revist Legion for those events.

I'll admit, David's speech was cool, but that's what he does. Claire fell for it again. Okay, so he and Jerry shot a few 8-balls once the cannons were back online. However, in the grand scheme of things he's dangerous and should have been put down. Do you think we've seen the last of William?

If he's a dyad, could he have survived? If he's indeed dead, what wasted story potential. I would have preferred David die, than little Whele. How about you? Let me know in the comments below.

Though Noma professed her love, her alliance with Gabriel in the past was troubling. Michael trusted Noma to go ahead of him and find the Chosen One. Did she mislead him? If so, why exactly?

Gabriel: All my angels came to my side but you, my own brother. You left me when I needed you most. You broke our family apart.

Michael: No, it was already broken by another. The archangel who chose humanity first, long before I did. Our brother is alive.

🔗 permalink: Our brother is alive.

So, Michael informed his brother that Lucifer is alive. This was the first time Michael let the audience know that Lucifer is responsible for the events in Mallory. Sure, many of us had guessed this, but it was great to hear the theory verbalized by Michael. So the siblings supposedly killed their big brother.

Will we learn how he survived? All I'm really expecting from the finale is to meet Lucifer. I hope the showrunners deliver on that, otherwise I'm going to be bummed out.

Ultimately, William brought down the gate and the 8-ball army entered Vega. That's where the finale will pick up, but again I wish this had been a special 2-hour deal. Cliffhangers are fun, but they can also be extremely frustrating. That's how I'm feeling after this episode. The writing this season has been solid, but I'm ready to learn the outcome.

I've said it before, I watch a lot of television and Dominion deserves another go. Will Syfy give us at least one more season despite the low ratings? Is scheduling to blame for the decline in viewers or are folks just watching less live TV overall? I hope we learn Dominion's fate sooner rather than later, don't you? Syfy do right by the fans.

What did you think of "Day of Wrath"? Will we meet Lucifer in the finale? Will Alex demonstrate his true power? Is William gone for good? Has Arika truly changed? You're up guys, go ahead and share your thoughts in the comments below.

Light triumphed over the Darkness on Dominion Season 2 Episode 11. Read our review to find out what interesting things we learned about our characters along the way.

That was one deliciously wicked hour of television people… 5 stars for me!

Not only did the cast bring their A game, but newcomer Gregg Simon directed the hell out of Dominion Season 2 Episode 11. Taking on the "Darkness" was no small feat, yet with all the madness going down the installment felt cohesive and riveting. The entire season's setup led to this moment and boy did each character's fears deliver the goods.

Dominion's like nothing else on television. To me, its more than earned another season. Let's break down the episode, shall we?

Though Riesen/Duma is on his way with the 8-ball army, the Darkness and its psychological drama was a brilliant hors d'oeuvre. From the moment that dark cloud spread through Vega, you got a real sense the shit was about to hit the fan. The opening scene set the tone for the hour, as folks blew their brains out and attacked one another. That's right, it was a full on "horror show" and then we heard a baby cry.

Chris Egan mentioned on Twitter that, "This might be one of those episodes you have to watch a couple of times." He wasn't kidding and I'm glad I rewatched it before writing this review. There's just too much going on to catch everything the first time around. While it was clear Claire was hallucinating her baby, things got a little murkier when it came to Alex, Michael and Noma. How cool was it meeting David the 8-ball? Anthony Head killed his Jekyll and Hyde scenes!

Michael quickly clued us in that Alex was somehow resisting the amphora's effects.

Alex: What the hell is this?

Michael: It’s the amphora of Darkness. Brings out the darkness inside and drives you mad with visions to make you hurt yourself or someone else. Some are nightmares, but some are dreams. Beautiful but fatal. All end in death.

Alex: Well I’m not seeing anything. Nightmares or dreams.

Michael: Neither am I, but angels can withstand its effects longer than humans. Doesn’t explain you though.

🔗 permalink: It’s the amphora of Darkness.

Before Michael said it, I assumed the Darkness could not take hold of Alex as he was the last pure heart. However, what does the fact Alex managed to close the amphora say about him? Michael clearly stated only an angel could reseal it. This was our first major hint that Alex might be a nephilim (son of an angel and mortal mother). Could Michael be his biological father? Hit me up in the comments with your theories.

Elsewhere, Arika was tormented by Claire and Rose. I loved that the tables were turned and she became the 8-ball in the situation. It's interesting that Arika was one of the few characters that did not take on a monstrous appearance. We did get a chance to see 8-ball Gabriel, David and Claire though, which was really fun. Carl Beukes' punk rock mohawk was a trip.

Though William continued to insist he was chosen by God, this installment made me doubt him for the first time. I thought it possible Lucifer came to him in the desert, but perhaps it was all in his mind after all.

The scenes with Claire, Alex and their baby were a nice contrast to the rest of the gloominess. Don't get me wrong, the material was eerie as well only in a completely different way. Plus, the stuff really tugged at your heartstrings and was tough to watch.

If you've been following my reviews, you've probably noticed my frustration regarding the editing. These quieter and visually brighter sequences broke up the episode nicely, yet were smooth transitions. Not once, did I feel irritated when we jumped to service another character. I thought the pacing was spot on considering all the storylines in play. That said, the entire episode took place in Vega which might have something to do with it.

I found it interesting the way David spoke of his soul. He's got one of those? His 8-ball doppelgänger was quick to lecture him on the topic.

8-ball David: Each of these items represents the soul of a man or woman you destroyed on your way to power. And you kept them in a trophy case. Let’s be honest David, you’ve been a monster like me longer than you’d like to admit.

🔗 permalink: Each of these items represents the soul of a man or woman you destroyed on your way to power….

Speaking of monsters, we cut back to Arika in the very next scene. It's crazy how we can hate both David and Arika one minute and yet sympathize with them the next. This was some of Shivani Ghai's best work on this series. She came across as brutally honest, vulnerable and quite daring. Again, everyone brought their A game here. This installment is going to be tough to beat.

Let's face it, splitting up was a bad idea no matter how you slice it or dice it. Noma seeing herself with wings and Michael watching Alex die were gut-wrenching moments. That Darkness was one bummer of a nasty acid trip man. Noma's "ooops" was priceless too.

Was there any truth to 8-ball Claire's claim that the flash of light William saw was a gun backfiring?

William: That’s not true. I am the voice of God.

8-ball Claire: That was your voice. You were talking to yourself.

🔗 permalink: I am the voice of God.

So, is William completely delusional? If we're to believe the Darkness, William has been suppressing the torture he suffered at the hands of those 8-balls. His vision of Alex also reinforced he's a fraud. Though I'm doubting his sanity more than ever, I still want to believe William's a dyad and that Lucifer is somehow involved. These visions were misleading after all, so perhaps there is some truth to William's story. I just can't wait to learn more.

Anyone else think that Noma was going to fall off that ledge? I'm thrilled she did not obviously, but I continue to be worried for the character. Alex sealed the amphora and the Darkness lifted. The markings clearly had something to do with it, but I'm betting the Chosen One is more than human. What do you think?

Gabriel's reaction was fantastic, "Well, that was rather quick. No matter, it's time." Sure, the amphora had been hyped all season, but I feel like it played its part well and I did not feel cheated in the end. Bring on that 8-ball army!

Ultimately, watching each character's hell manifest itself was thrilling. This installment gave us the best insight ever into both our heroes and villains motivations. Yep, "Bewilderment of Heart" is without a doubt one of my favorite episodes of the series. Congratulations to Vaun, Gregg and the entire cast/crew. Thank you for a phenomenal hour of television.

Did you enjoy "Bewilderment of Heart" as much as I did? Is Alex a nephilim? Is Claire the only character truly in danger? Do you believe William's story or is he cuckoo for cocoa puffs? Feel any differently about David or Arika now? Your turn ladies and gents, sound off in the comments below.

Michael faced off against the prophet, while Alex and Gates saved Vega from a nuclear meltdown on Dominion Season 2 Episode 10. Who sacrificed themself? Read on to find out.

Well, Lucifer was finally name-dropped and the amphora's darkness released.

The last few installments and Dominion Season 2 Episode 10 were basically setting the stage for the massive battle ahead. With only three episodes left, there still seems to be so much unresolved. I hope they don't leave us with a cliffhanger.

Gates made the ultimate sacrifice, and now I feel ashamed I ever doubted the character's intentions. Again, if I were watching this on Netflix I'd be moving on to the next hour. I think binge-watching has spoiled the weekly viewing experience for me.

Michael returned to Mallory, and in regular clothes. It sure was funny to see the archangel looking so spiffy. Of course, once the prophet appeared you got the sense Michael was dreaming. There have been many theories as to who the prophet is, but why doesn't Michael recognize him? I mean, if he was Lucifer surely Michael would recognize his older brother right?

Alex and Gates butting heads was a tad irritating. Seriously guys, you're smack in the middle of a civil war and you turn it into a dick measuring contest? Claire's face was priceless, but taking Gates' side wasn't going to sit well with our new Alex. They found common ground when the reactor sprung a leak, which would prove interesting. Still, it was Claire and Arika's scene that really stood out. There's no doubt Claire's learned how to play the game.

I'm glad we checked in with Riesen. Wasn't it odd they skipped over him, especially after becoming a dyad? When he mentioned feeling "off balance," I couldn't help wonder which higher angel now shared his body. First, Riesen had to confront Gabriel, whose black eyes remind us is possessed by the darkness.

William came across more cray cray than ever, but I can't shake the feeling he's a dyad.

David: You’re supposed to be dead. If Claire finds you, you’re going to hang and I’ll be swinging next to you. We have to leave Vega.

William: We’re not going anywhere. God chose me to cleanse the world of evil one person at a time. And I don’t know a heart more troubled than yours David. The moment I saw you, I knew God brought you to me. My work begins with you.

🔗 permalink: The moment I saw you, I knew God brought you to me. My work begins with you.

I thought the redhead was going to play a part in David's capture. Though Arika ordered her to kill him, I knew Whele wasn't going anywhere. Didn't expect him to take her out though. It was great that Gates came clean about the poisoned water. Claire needed to know exactly who she's dealing with.

Why would Riesen assume Gabriel had no clue as to the amphora's power? And why would Gabe ask Riesen to lead his army? Their whole confrontation confused me, only for Riesen and Clementine to be released. Apparently, Riesen was the more dominant resident in his body thanks to Clem and he didn't run off with his tail tucked between his legs. Gabriel realized this, so it was bye bye Clementine. I guess it was her after all. The angel half was now in control.

Noma's "phantom pains" were worrisome. Was this a sign she's dying?

Noma: Sometimes it feels like they’re being torn off again.

Alex: Phantom pains?

Noma: Worse. Crazy how a part of you can hurt so much even after it’s gone.

Noma: How’s Claire?

Alex: We lost the baby.

Noma: I’m so sorry Alex.

🔗 permalink: Sometimes it feels like they’re being torn off again.

In his dream state, Michael cut himself on the empyrean steel and Noma watched him bleed. It did seem Michael walked away from the whole Mallory ordeal too easily. The prophet demanded a sacrifice and Michael bent the rules, so the entity returned to collect. When he said, "Really Michael, violence in your father's house" not our father's hinted that this was not Lucifer himself. Michael asked all the right questions, but would the prophet allow Mallory to die?

As with Dominion Season 2 Episode 9, the cutting between New Delphi, Vega and Mallory started to annoy me. I understand they have several stories to deal with, but just when things are getting interesting in one scene we're back in the other city. For me, this interrupts the flow and is a more of a distraction than anything else. Perhaps, I'm just less interested in what's going down in Vega. Was there any doubt Alex and Gates would take the reactor back? Their little fight was fun, I'll admit.

Were Michael and the prophet seriously going to decide his fate over a game of Texas hold 'em? It was a neat turn of events, but a little silly considering the stakes. I enjoyed their conversation, but was anxious to know who the prophet was (or worked for). Now we know it's the Morning Star. Lucifer finally gets name dropped on Dominion. Things are about to get interesting.

It didn't surprise me that William turned David over, but Gates' sacrifice was a shock.

Claire: We’re taking back the nuclear plant. It’s over.

David: I suppose congratulations are in order. Nicely done Claire, your father would be proud.

🔗 permalink: We’re taking back the nuclear plant. It’s over.

Shouldn't Claire have killed him on the spot? You know he's just going to escape somehow and keep causing trouble. I knew the second Gates mentioned entering the containment room he was a goner. Why wouldn't Alex understand this? I honestly did not expect Gates to go out a martyr. It was a tough scene to watch, and I didn't see it coming. Though I didn't connect much with Claire and Gates, that final moment worked and it was powerful.

Can Alex and Claire find a way back to one other? With everything they've been through, it seems unlikely. I loved seeing David in chains and Arika giggling at his misfortune. How will he get out of this one? Do you think they'll kill him off?

Gabriel released the amphora's darkness outside Vega and Riesen took charge of the 8-ball army. Everything this season has been building toward is about to hit hard over the next few episodes. I can't wait to watch all the events unfold… wow!

What did you think of "House of Sacrifice"? How can Vega survive the darkness? Does the prophet work for Lucifer? Is the Morning Star sharing William's body? You're up guys, go ahead and sound off in the comments below.

There were a couple of big reunions on Dominion Season 2 Episode 9. Gabriel got his bad guy mojo back, which means trouble for Vega. Did Julian die? Find out in our review.

So much was left up in the air on Dominion Season 2 Episode 9. It was a total tease.

Don't get me wrong, there were definitely some interesting moments. Arika's flashbacks were refreshing and the Gates twist caught me by surprise. But if I were watching this on Netflix, there's no question I would have kept going.

I know "patience is a virtue," but the prophet just returned to Mallory. What?!?

Claire has definitely changed. The Lady of the City proved she wasn't messing around anymore by attacking the V1s, just as she had promised Zoe. Naturally, David was just worried about saving his own ass. Can you believe he convinced troops to fight and then hightailed it out of there? What a slimeball, he's got to go down.

I'll be honest, I was much more curious to see what Julian would do with the amphora. Just when the drop of darkness to the eye started to do its work, we cut back to Vega. I realize this builds tension, but I've got very little sympathy for either David or Arika. It's no surprise his "spy" gave David up. I will say, I was not expecting the Arika flashback. It's about time we learn a little more about the queen of Helena

She just had to tell Claire that Zoe wanted peace, didn't she? Ouch!

Claire: I killed the wrong person.

Gates: Claire, you couldn’t have known.

Claire: No I couldn’t have known, but that doesn’t make it right. Zoe is still dead.

Gates: Listen to me.

Claire: No. I thought she took my baby but she didn’t. She deserved to die, but not for that. Another one of my mistakes.

🔗 permalink: I killed the wrong person.

That kamikaze 8-ball bomber was a waste, but Julian's army lying in stasis was creepy as hell. Would Michael flying over them wake the creatures? I couldn't believe they chose to tiptoe across, then Alex tripped over one. Sure it created drama, but it wasn't a smart move for the Chosen One. Julian left Gabriel to simmer in the darkness, then we cut back to Vega. Yeah, I was starting to get a little frustrated.

Still, David ended up in the bar William was preaching at. Doesn't it seem like he bewitched those people too easily? I figured their reunion would prove interesting. I liked that David double-checked to make sure he wasn't seeing things again. I'm not sure why David would think William would be pleased to see him, but I loved the Jesus/Judas comparison. Is it possible William is now a dyad?

Poor Gates kept coughing up blood. I knew the moment Arika mentioned she had a plan in motion it involved an antidote, but would Gates betray Claire as well? I had my doubts, because I've never quite trusted him.

Gates: You did this to me?

Arika: Yes.

Gates: So what you just want to watch me suffer. Is that your game?

Arika: Oh I don’t care for suffering at all, not unless it has a purpose. And you Mr. Foley, well, you have a purpose. The poison I gave you moves slowly. With all the damage you’ve done to your liver over the years, I guess you have just under 36 hours. But it’s not an exact science.

Gates: So let me hypothesize. If I let you out, then you give me the cure?

Arika: Close, you let me out and fly with me to Helena. Once there, I’ll give you the antidote.

🔗 permalink: So let me hypothesize. If I let you out, then you give me the cure?

Back in New Delphi, Julian finally attempted to take over Gabriel's body. I'll be honest, Simon Merrells' performance as Julian has been so captivating anything taking place in Vega pales by comparison. Anyone else think for a second the possession worked? Then he spit Lyrae right back out.

Gabriel temporarily possessing Julian was a given, but part of me hoped he wouldn't die. What was in the box Julian opened? Would it help heal him? Pete was spared, and Gabriel now controls the army. Things are not looking so hot for Vega.

It took most of the season for this reunion, but when Claire saw Alex in the security feed it was worth it. I got a real sense the show's direction was about to change. Noma explained Michael was too weak, which is why he didn't fly. Did that vision of Mallory have to strike then?

Julian's army proved fairly useless, even before Claire's troops arrived. Was she seriously upset seeing Alex and Noma kiss? Did she forget all about Gates that quickly? I guess they're both going to call it even and move forward.

Claire: I dreamed about you coming home, but I thought it was just a dream.

Alex: Well here I am.

Claire: Yeah, you’re alive.

Alex: So are you.

Claire: I bombed Gabriel’s aerie.

Alex: You couldn’t have known I was in the aerie. Was a hell of a move. You almost got the bastard.

Claire: But I didn’t.

Alex: Next time. Hey, what’s wrong?

Claire: I was shot.

Alex: Shot? How?

Claire: I’m so sorry.

Alex: Sorry?

Claire: The baby.

🔗 permalink: I dreamed about you coming home, but I thought it was just a dream.

The scene between Alex and Claire was heartbreaking, as was Bill Brown's gorgeous musical score. The composer has done such a brilliant job with the music this season. Brown really has helped define the series through his soundscapes. If (or when) the show is renewed, I hope Brown will be back as well. He was the one truly important ingredient missing last season.

Wasn't it great that Gates figured out what poison Arika used and found the cure? Foxglove FTW! I thought that was a nice twist, and was impressed Gates didn't betray Claire. How will Arika escape her execution? The red-headed lady perhaps? Her father's death was a defining moment and the plane's name tied things together nicely.

Noma questioning her place in the world again was troubling. "I don't have wings. I don't have Alex. What do I have?" she asked Michael. Will honor be enough though? I still have a very bad feeling we're going to lose Nomes.

What did you think of "The Seed of Evil"? The mystery man returned to Mallory, but who is he? Were the big reunions what you were expecting? How will Arika escape her execution? You're up guys, please share your thoughts in the comments below.

Claire and Edward made bold moves they'll soon regret on Dominion Season 2 Episode 8. William resurfaced with a message from "God." Find out what that was in our review.

There were several seriously jaw-dropping moments on Dominion Season 2 Episode 8.

Can you believe Claire shot Zoe point-blank in the head like that? William resurfaced more badass than ever, and killed that dude to buy himself a beer. What about the fact Riesen was no general and decided to become a dyad?

All that, plus we got a quick peek at the start of the Extermination War… Intense stuff!

A Military Standoff - Dominion Season 2 Episode 8

Things started off with a bang, or rather with a beheading. That decapitation was more graphic than anything we saw in the pilot. It always amazes me how broadcast standards and practices have zero issues with a scene like that, yet we get a PG-13 version of the little orgy sequence. It boggles the mind, but let's leave that argument for another time.

Anyone else wonder how Michael found Alex and Noma so quickly? It's not like she called the archangel with her wings. Damn, that was a low blow… sorry Nomes.

Michael made the connection between the 8-balls burned by our mystery man and Mallory. This was our first solid lead that he's the town's prophet. Since we learned that Uriel's twin Raphael is a woman, it appears Lucifer has been having some fun with Laurel and the townsfolk. Still, he did seem to be concerned for Alex and protected them by setting the 8-balls on fire. What are your thoughts on all this?

Noma's unwavering dedication to Alex is incredible. Will she get her wings back?

Noma: Yesterday I went out to draw the 8-balls away from Alex. Something strange happened.

Michael: What?

Noma: A man appeared to me. There was a presence about him. Like he was something more. I was delirious, what sticks in my mind is he said, “Bring him east.” Does it make any sense to you?

Michael: No.

🔗 permalink: A man appeared to me. There was a presence about him.

Arika's days of scheming are over (for now), but you've got to wonder why Gates didn't arrest her sooner? I get that he was gathering more intel, but he could have avoided that fateful drink of water. Do you think he'll die?

"Peace is not the answer" David told Zoe. If anyone deserved a bullet in the brain it was Whele not Zoe, but we'll get to that in a moment. When she told him one of them was going to die and he said "ladies first," I had a feeling her days were numbered.

Riesen did not seem to be playing into Julian's hands at first. I found it interesting that the new Clementine knew things about her eviction no one could know. I'm assuming she is indeed the 8-ball that possessed his wife. That brings me to Riesen's flashbacks.

How cool was it to see the start of the Extermination War? Watching the angels take possession of their human hosts was awesome. We never had a chance to see anything like this in the film Legion. I'm really glad Dominion went there.

I thought the actor they chose to play young Riesen was a dead ringer for Alan Dale. The fact they dubbed in Alan's voice helped sell it as well. Though Edward wasn't a general, the fact he read "The Art of War" and mentioned learning from history helps us understand how he became a great leader. It was sad that he came home to find Clementine possessed. She continued to be his biggest weakness.

Meanwhile, Julian drugged Gabriel which lead to this season's first orgy.

Gabriel: I need time to recover, heal. An hour maybe two. And then I’ll summon my angels and we’ll slaughter that dyad and everyone else in this cursed pit.

Claire: Of course you will.

Gabriel: You don’t believe me.

Arika: No. Even with your wings.

Noma: It’s a losing proposition.

Gabriel: But I’m an archangel. One of the greatest warriors the heavens have ever seen.

Claire: Julian is far more powerful than that. You don’t stand a chance.

Gabriel: What do you suggest?

Claire: Stay here with us.

Gabriel: Why exactly?

Noma: Because we will protect you.

Arika: Because we want you.

Claire: Surrender Gabriel. It’s easy if you try.

🔗 permalink: Surrender Gabriel. It’s easy if you try.

Elsewhere, Zoe and David went into battle for the armory. The two characters had one last verbal standoff which was great. Especially Zoe's witty remark about David's one hand. I never imagined I'd feel this way at the start, but I'm going to miss her. Though I know Zoe had to go, I'm not sure how I feel about Claire's move. She was pretty brutal and that shocked me.

Weren't you hoping we had not seen the last of William? When David's visions stopped, it seemed Luke Allen-Gale's Dominion days were over. This new William is pretty ferocious. Weren't you shocked by the way he beat that guy to death? Yeah, Willy's lost his marbles and he's about to lead a new group of acolytes. I'm curious to see how this plays out.

When William was speaking at the bar, he mentioned God revealed himself to him.

William: I was at my lowest point. Blinded by the sun. Skin peeling off my back. I was approached by six horsemen, they were thieves. They wanted my canteen and a few strips of dry meat I had. And there was nothing I could do to stop them. But then as the first attacker came at me, this blinding flash of light filled the sky. It was so bright it turned night into day. It was as if a comet had hit the Earth. But it was even greater than that because this wasn’t a comet. This was the hand of God. And he was reaching down from high up there. And he killed that attacker, stone dead, right in front of me. It was a miracle.

🔗 permalink: This was the hand of God. And he was reaching down from high up there.

Did William dream this due to dehydration from being out in the desert too long? He's clearly not in his right mind; did he snap? Or did some supernatural force truly intervene? The prophet from Mallory perhaps? Did Father return or is something else at play. We can't say for sure yet, but I love this new turn of events, don't you?

While we didn't see Riesen give up the amphora, the fact he's now a dyad means he did. Sure, he was dying and desperate, but boy did he make a massive mistake. Since Julian's figured out that Gabriel's mind can be broken and with the amphora in hand, he might just take his body. Picture a possessed Gabe leading New Delphi's forces against Vega. If that's what is coming, this season finale is going to be mind-blowing.

What did you think of "The Longest Mile Home"? Did both Claire and her father make a terrible mistake? Will Julian/Lyrae take over Gabriel's body? Who or what saved William out there in the desert? Your turn, please sound off in the comments below.

Michael and his brother were tortured, but it was the memory of his son that hurt Gabriel most on Dominion Season 2 Episode 7. Read our review to learn why he hates mankind.

The post Dominion Season 2 Episode 7 Review: Lay Thee Before Kings appeared first on TV Fanatic.

Not only was Dominion Season 2 Episode 7 Biblical, but it was a defining moment.

From this point forward, the way we think of the archangel Gabriel has been forever altered. I think it's safe to say, we finally understand his hatred of mankind better. That said, risking his life for Michael's "chosen one" was poetic.

A ton of stuff went down in this installment, but for me the flashbacks once again ruled supreme. I just love all that stuff and boy did the writers deliver here.

Well, Julian got straight to the point and explained his evil plan. The brothers, bound by Empyrean steel and sitting across from one another had to take turns grasping a pipe that would deliver an electrical charge… Ouch! Lyrae sure does love his torture and this one came courtesy of Stalin. The Sodom and Gomorrah references were great and I almost wish we had flashed back to that time period one last time.

Of course, as an audience we know that Michael and Gabriel are the two big players in this war. So all of Julian's threats are a bit pointless. He's not about to take over an archangels body and kill the other, but bonus points for trying big guy. In reality, the scenario was simply a device to get the brothers talking.

I've got to admit, it was a cool way of getting more backstory on Gabe.

Gabriel: Seems like a lot of work to kill us. You have Empyrean steel in New Delphi.

Julian: I don’t want to kill you Gabriel. I want to break you. And then I’ll take one of your bodies and make it my own.

🔗 permalink: I don’t want to kill you Gabriel. I want to break you.

Elsewhere, Alex's tattoos began twisting around. When the mysterious stranger appeared out of nowhere and questioned Noma about Alex's markings, I immediately assumed he was the same man she saw in the woods. Yes, even before he set that 8-ball on fire. Was this entity merely helping her deliver Alex to safety to later claim her soul? Is he the Grim Reaper, the Son of Morning or is he Mallory's prophet?

Noma did mention she was dying after sacrificing her wings, right? I realize there have to be casualties so the stakes are real. Since the archangels and Alex are pretty much safe, sadly it's going to be someone like Noma we're forced to say goodbye to. That's going to suck, big time.

I think more than ever, both Gabriel and Michael's points of view on Alex became quite clear. Michael mentioning what he's gone through made me miss Mallory again. Let's get back there already guys. Still, I wasn't expecting Gabriel's flashback to revolve around another "chosen" child. He was a father, something I didn't see coming at all.

The battle scene wide shots were damn impressive. Especially knowing that Syfy shows don't have hugest budgets. The moment Gabriel called the boy David, I realized they were telling the David and Goliath story. How frakkin' cool was that? I absolutely love the way the writers are weaving these historical events into Michael and Gabriel's past. David ultimately dies and the archangel's hatred for mankind is complete.

Speaking of children, back in Vega Claire was thinking of her unborn child while kissing Gates. I understand she thinks Alex is dead and moved on, but we as an audience know he's worked his ass off to save her and Vega. It just makes me like Claire a little less this season. I'm curious to see what their reunion will be like. While I was rooting for the two of them last season, I'm not sure I am anymore. Anyway, Claire's staff was murdered and she decided to chat with Zoe personally.

Julian taunting Risen about his inevitable death was plain cruel. I did like that he realized torturing the old man would only kill him and he'd take the amphora's whereabouts to his grave. I didn't realize Riesen even knew where it was.

Julian: Every great man has his weakness. What’s yours?

Riesen: Dying men don’t have weaknesses. They got nothing to lose.

Julian: One thing I’d love to know and I don’t think it steps on your vow of silence, what brought you to New Delphi? And who’s Clementine? I overheard you say her name to Alex.

🔗 permalink: Every great man has his weakness. What’s yours?

Riesen gave up his story rather easily, don't you think? Since Julian knew the truth about Clementine, he was bound to use it against him. I was surprised Riesen fell for the old this 8-ball's Clementine trick, even for a second. Then again he's dying and was never reasonable when it came to his 8-ball wife. Is it possible Julian brought Clementine back? I'm just not buying it.

Man those lower angels at the convenience store were creepy as all hell and their behavior was weird. I loved their dual voices and how unlike zombies the 8-balls feel this season. They're definitely their own beasts. That whole shopping sequence was bizarre, with Alex pretending to be a shopper and he and Noma discovering that pile of fresh corpses. It was just a matter of time before the creatures attacked.

Hearing Gates question Arika's loyalty was right on the money. I'm not sure why Claire trusts her so much, but it was great to hear him voice his concern.

Claire and Zoe's meeting seemed to be going well, then the sniper struck and it's no surprise David was behind it. The watch gave him away too. Zoe's a smart cookie, you've got to give her that. Claire really stood her ground, I'm actually buying her as a leader this season. I think Zoe realized she wasn't messing around. Still, Claire being wounded and losing the baby means the rebels are going down.

That tied in nicely with Gabriel losing his own son.

Gabriel: The loss of him. His life. It’s a stain on my soul, I can’t bear it.

Michael: Father has a plan. You must trust him now Gabriel.

Gabriel: His plan is perfection, but they will pervert it. Destroy it. Father thinks too much of them.

Michael: Careful brother, you must stay your hand in all ways. We can not judge these humans by their flaws, their mistakes. We can’t lose hope. Time will heal you.

Gabriel: Time will never heal this.

🔗 permalink: Time will never heal this.

Learning the truth about Gabriel's loss truly humanized him. It's much easier now to understand his point of view and I think that was a brilliant move on the writers part. This hour is possibly one of the most important, defining moments in Dominion. The fact Gabriel risked his life to save Michael's "chosen one" was massive. What incredible performances by Carl Beukes and Tom Wisdom… Bravo gents!

Sure it was frustrating Gabriel stayed behind, but like he said Julian's got to go. Will he throw him from the highest floor of New Delphi. Do Dyad's have wings? I just think it would be a cool way to tie the two storylines together. Gabe's confrontation with the imposter king was epic, especially the part where he threw him out the window. Yeah Carl Beukes killed it this week, wow!

Alex sewing Noma up was rough, but hearing her doubt herself was worse. There's a real connection between these two, unlike Claire and Gates who we just met. It's going to get really uncomfortable when everyone reunites in Vega.

What did you think of "Lay Thee Before Kings"? Will Michael show up to save Alex and Noma? Are you surprised Claire lost the baby? Is that really Clementine inside a new host body? Did we just meet Mallory's prophet? Your turn folks, hit the comments!

On Dominion Season 2 Episode 8, a military standoff ends in disaster and someone unexpected wanders the city streets saying they are Chosen One.

Alex takes out the 8-ball with the chainsaw as Michael arrives; the others scatter.

The archangel informs Alex that Gabriel is still Julian's captive and that he sacrificed himself so Michael could escape. "That doesn't sound like Gabriel" Alex says. "Gabriel's full of surprises" Michael replies. Julian will attack Vega soon, they must hurry.

At the house where Alex and Noma stayed, Michael notices the 8-balls were burned from the inside out. Noma tells him about the stranger she saw. "A man appeared to me. There was a presence about him. Like he was something more. I was delirious, what sticks in my mind is he said, "Bring him east" Noma told Michael.

A mysterious figure appears at the gates of Vega claiming to be William Whele.

Arika and David threaten one another via walkie talkie, while Gates listens in. Zoe and David temporarily set their differences aside and decide to take the nearby armory. Gates warns Claire that it is time to strike hard and fast.

Meanwhile, in New Delphi Clementine continues working to convince Riesen it's really her. He's not buying it, but she's wearing him down. Clementine brings up the past forcing Edward to remember the start of the Extermination War.

In these flashbacks, we realize Edward was just a civilian who took the name Riesen from a dead general. When the angels attacked, he rushed home to find his wife had been possessed. That very day his relationship with the 8-ball began.

Having no luck by torturing Gabriel, Julian decides to drug him instead. The archangel has visions of Claire, Noma and Arika who attempt to convince him to give in to the dyad's demands. Ultimately, Julian realizes the archangel's mind can be broken.

The twisted dyad also informs Riesen that Vega is dealing with a civil war and that Claire was shot. Getting weaker by the moment, Julian again offers to make him a dyad. "A dyad can help Claire to save the city. Especially with a New Delphi army and me at his side." Riesen seems to be considering the option now.

In Vega, William enters a bar and is mocked when he tells people who he is. He later beats one of the men to death and takes his money.

Zoe and David attack the armory, however, Gates blows the building capturing Zoe while David escapes. Arika is arrested for her role in the revolution. Claire visits Zoe in jail and blames her for everything. "My baby is gone. And now I have to fight a war without mercy" she tells the young woman before shooting her in the head.

William shares a story of how God reveled himself out in the desert. He believes he survived because he has been chosen.

Riesen opens his eyes to reveal he is a dyad.

Gates coughs up blood due to Arika poisoning his drink.

Julian enters the torture chamber with the amphora in hand. Gabriel is not pleased.

Michael and Gabriel attempt to escape New Delphi, while revisiting Gabe's past on Dominion Season 2 Episode 7. Elsewhere, Alex helps nurse a wounded Noma, but will she make it?

Michael and Gabriel sit across from one another handcuffed to a torture device.

Julian enters the room and explains his master plan. "I don't want to kill you Gabriel. I want to break you. And then I'll take one of your bodies and make it my own" the dyad informs the two brothers.

Gabriel argues that Alex is to blame for their current predicament. Michael tells his brother he's more convinced than ever that Alex is important. A flashback reveals that Gabriel had a "chosen one" of his own. He raised the boy as his son. When war came to their town, the boy was forced to take part in the battle.

Elsewhere, Alex wakes to find his tattoos shifting, but Noma is not at his side. Outside the little house, Noma is dodging 8-balls when a stranger stops to question her about the Chosen One. "Bring him east" the man pleads with Noma.

Alex and Noma sneak away just as the man uses his power to set the 8-balls on fire. They reach a department store, and see 8-balls obsessed with their former lives pretending to work. The creatures are not attacking, so our duo starts shopping.

In Vega, Claire learns her staff had been murdered by the rebels. Gates warns that action needs to be taken quickly, prompting Claire to set up a meeting with Zoe.

The two leaders come face to face and just as they agree to make peace a shot rings out. David hired a sniper to sabotage the meeting. Claire is wounded during the gunfire, and unfortunately loses her baby. Zoe is not pleased with these turn of events.

Since Riesen is so frail, Julian decides against torturing him for the whereabouts of the amphora. Instead, the dyad questions him about Clementine. The old man opens up and shares his life story. Some time later, Julian returns with a female 8-ball he claims is Clementine. Has he managed to bring her back from the ether?

As farmers prepare for battle, a giant warrior steps forth onto the battlefield. "Today you must be brave David" the archangel tells his boy in this flashback. That's right, Gabriel raised the David that defeated the mighty Goliath. Michael drops a stone in front of the boy, who picks it up, wraps it in his sling and kills the mountain of a man.

Later, Gabriel is devastated to learn that King Saul killed young David and replaced him with an imposter. "Time will never heal this" Gabriel tells Michael. One final flashback reveals Gabriel visited the imposter King, killed his family and threw him from a window.

In the present day, Gabriel sacrifices himself so that Michael gets a chance to save his chosen one. "Protect him and if you can bring our Father back. There's no point to anything without him" Gabriel says knocking his brother free of the machine.

Though Michael attempts to drag his brother out of the torture chamber, Gabriel stays behind to kill Julian. He is so weak though, he collapses on the floor.

Alex and Noma try playing along with the insane 8-balls and attempt to check out. However, the creatures soon turn on them. Outside the store, our heroes find themselves surround by the 8-balls who tracked them from the house.
