AMC announced today Plum's story of resistance against the man for all things women suffer has been snuffed out as Dietland Season 2 is off the table.

Only author Sarai Walker, who initially penned the novel Dietland, knows what the future holds for Plum Kettle.

AMC announced today it's the end of the road for the vengeance-driven heroine on their network.

When we last saw Plum, she chose the resistance, getting into a car with the group called Jennifer, and we knew her life would never be the same.

All signs were pointing toward a renewal of the powerful dramedy helmed by Marti Noxon, who in August chatted with The Hollywood Reporter and shared they had a writers' room, were back at work and were breaking story for the upcoming season, all signs pointing to good news on the horizon.

Unfortunately, while airing, the series didn't garner the numbers that viewers excitement when discussing the show should have indicated.

Most airings were pulling in only about 200k in the demo and 600k overall within three days of DVR viewing. It seems while feminism and the discussion of all sides of it are on the rise, it isn't translating well to television.

Noxon saw the end of UnREAL and Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce this year, two other strong female-driven series, as well as the limited series Sharp Objects at HBO.

Over at Paramount Network, the freshman series American Woman didn't far any better, also subject to cancelation after one season.

Why aren't women tuning into shows that showcase strong, gutsy characters with terrific casts to boot? It's a mystery.

Dietland featured a treasure trove of talented women including Joy Nash, Juliana Margulies, Robin Weigert, Tamara Tunie, and Selenis Leyva. The cast alone should have been worth tuning in for more than one viewing.

AMC shared their thoughts about letting go of the series in a statement.

"Dietland is bold, original and brave. We are beyond proud of our partnership with Marti Noxon, [stars] Joy Nash, Juliana Margulies, [producers] Skydance and everyone else involved in bringing Sarai Walker’s story to the screen," AMC said in a statement.

"Similarly, Aisha Tyler and our friends at Embassy Row delivered a unique companion show that led with fresh voices and important topics. Dietland garnered critical acclaim and passionate fans but unfortunately, we will not be able to continue with a second season."

We had the opportunity to speak with Joy Nash, Tamara Tunie, Robin Weigert, and Selenis Leyva concerning Dietland and women's issues. They're the best.

The post Dietland Breakdown: 4 Stars Discuss Finale, Women’s Movement & More! appeared first on TV Fanatic.

If you haven't figured it out by now, as women's rights are back into the spotlight thanks to such movements as #MeToo and #TimesUp, Dietland is more than just a TV show.

And like the show itself, Joy Nash (Plum), Tamara Tunie (Julia), Robin Weigert (Verena), and Selenis Leyva (Soledad/Belle) are more than just the stars of Dietland, they've found themselves included in the larger discussion because fate made it so.

I had a chance to talk with all four within the past two days about Dietland Season 1; where the finale finds their characters; the ability of people to be righteous both in and out of character, and the discussion generated around Dietland and the various issues of the day.

Can Plum Keep Up? - Dietland Season 1 Episode 10
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

As the credits rolled on the finale, safe spaces where the characters had been working were effectively upended. Plum abandoned her quiet life for one on the run with Jennifer as the women we'd only just met as "Jennifer" were being torn down once the Feds were on the case after Verena offered names that resulted in Julia and her sisters' arrests. The end, ultimately, is only the beginning.

Weigert, who believes the friendship between Verena and Julia "has deep roots, goes way back and maybe we ended up being sort of two sides of the same coin a little bit, going in two different directions with the same essential ideology," also understands why Verena went to the FBI.

Related: Dietland Season 1 Episode 10 Review: Bedwomb

"Obviously Verena has some, I believe, feeling of culpability when it comes to this group that calls themselves Jennifer because even though she didn't consciously help to create that organization, once she was stirring the pot with a lot of different women, psychically, who knows what you're going to create.

"And I think one of the messages of the show if you can say that, is that once you get a fire going, you can't really control where it spreads. You may be tapping into something very valuable when you're tapping into rage that might otherwise implode and become a source of self-destructive behavior.

A New Mission - Dietland
(AMC)

"It seems like on the surface … it seems, well, let's just get that rage up and out and into the world, and find your voice and get you out there and making a difference. Go, go, go. Then, all of a sudden it's like Pandora's been let out of her box and … you know what I mean? Pandora's box is open and anything could happen.

"Interesting that I kind of said Pandora's been let out of her box, which is not what I meant to say, but maybe a little Freudian. I mean, it's just something is let loose and who knows where it will end."

Like many of the other characters on Dietland, Weigert believes that even though Verena appeared to be the most unflappable, that under the "savior, a rescuer to all the women" a Calliope House, she had a breaking point in which she might look a lot like her dad.

"And then if her fear button gets pressed, if she gets triggered, I would think she would snap into a certain kind of more autocratic, more absolutist kind of mode."

That may be what allowed for the serene look on Verena's face as she walked down the street with a smile on her face knowing her friend was going to get arrested for a crime for which she felt some culpability.

Julia's Caught - Dietland Season 1 Episode 10
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

And Julia is a character for whom Robin felt a lot of interest the moment she removed her white face and expressed her vulnerability.

It's what I considered to be one of if not the most pivotal moments of the series because of how it breaks down what women do, in essence, to get through the day. Perhaps not on that level all of the time, but it can feel like it after a lifetime.

Tamara Tunie talked about it from her perspective and Julia's.

"It was very, I was very nervous about that scene because I felt it was such an important moment in the series, not just for the character but also for the show itself. For me, it kind of just represented the façade that so many of us walk around in, in order to achieve whatever.

Related: Dietland Season 1 Episode 9 Review: Woman Down

"Whether it's to please the eye or whether it's to work in a certain environment, or whether it's to just walk down the street and protect yourself from just the assault of living in the world."

"I mean, and so I felt like it was so powerful. I was really nervous about it because I wanted, I envisioned it in my mind, what it would be like, but until we were actually shooting it … I mean, the vulnerability of that moment I thought was just really kind of overwhelming.

Who She Is - Dietland
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

"I thought that they did a beautiful job shooting it, but I just remember being so stressed out about it that like I really couldn't sleep the night before we shot it.

Of course, production was very cooperative and it was a closed set so we could really kind of focus and just really control as much as possible the environment in which I was going to do this peel, because basically, it's just getting, ultimately it's getting naked."

"I think it was, what it meant as far as Julia was concerned was finally stripping away the façade that she had been wearing in order to achieve her goal, working in the Beauty Closet and infiltrating that industry, which was her intent.

"For the show itself, I think it just kind of accentuated and put an exclamation point on what we, particularly as women do, but any marginalized society has to do in order to fit in or achieve their goals or whatever. I felt like … When I watched it, I was really as blown away as I think the rest of the audience was."

"Then the idea of this woman who's had a double mastectomy, and not only has she had the double mastectomy, but she's gone through the pain of tattooing roses over her, thorns and roses over mastectomy. I mean, it was just like, "Wow." It was just really amazing. "

Removing the Mask - Dietland
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

"I want to give a shout out to my body double, Virginia. Virginia Grant is the … She's not even an actress; she's the woman who played my body double, who has had a double mastectomy. "

"Yeah, so she and I, we were there together, I mean because they used her body, they didn't just do that digitally, but they actually used her body and imposed her body over my body.

"I'm giving the secrets away, but I think it's very important to understand how generous Virginia was to step forward and expose herself in just a really powerful way. That really bonded us.

Related: Dietland Season 1 Episode 8 Review: Rad Fatties

"I mean, we have become great friends. She's an extraordinary woman, and we really, I just really feel bonded to her because of that. I feel like she really gave me something. "

As the face of Dietland, Joy Nash has the "joy" of representing the show and joining what I've always thought of as one of the last fights for equality — the plight of the overweight person. She corrected me on that in her sweet way naming other plights, and wouldn't even take credit as the face of Dietland.

Is Plum Ready? - Dietland Season 1 Episode 9
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

Nash is unbelievably kind and gracious, just like Plum. That's why it's so difficult when even in the last moments of the finale, Plum still seems to be making decisions for others, especially after Soledad says to move her fat ass.

While I'm of the opinion it's not a life-altering moment in real life, after what Plum has suffered in such a short time, my first thought was, "This is not for you, Plum. This isn't it. You're looking for something, but you're not looking for this."

"I think that's really insightful," Nash said. "I think that a lot of what gets her into the car is her need to not be alone. She's been alone her entire life and for the first time, she has people who like her and appreciate her and want to know more.

"Well, I guess she had that with friends like Steven, but it's on another level with Jennifer. And then with the threat of having that all that taken away, driving away in a minivan, it's too much.

"I was talking to somebody else this morning and, about those comments, she was like, 'Isn't there any place where Plum can be just accepted as she is and somebody doesn't have to comment on her body?' And I think, 'Yes, I hope there is. But this maybe isn't it.'"

Time To Run - Dietland Season 1 Episode 10
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

Selenis Leyva, though, had to read that "fat ass" line and bring it to life, so she shared her take on what it meant in the moment they were running and to her as an actress in these highly charged times.

Yeah, I remember reading and going … Like, me, the actress, who is very sensitive to words, because that's how society has made us, let's be honest. And it's also politically right now; everything is so charged and so … Everyone is like … nerves exposed.

"So for me, that was kind of hard to say it, to even read it out loud. I was like ugh. It didn't feel good. But I gotta tell you, once I was there as Soledad, I didn't think twice about it. Once I was there as Soledad, I was like, 'This is it. This is her just … '

Related: Dietland Season 1 Episode 7 Review: Monster High

"She's fed up. It's a situation that they were in. They're running for their lives, and here is Plum freaking slowing her down. It was a reaction. And sometimes we say things when we are super angry, upset, or whatever, our most vulnerable state. And maybe it's the unfiltered state, right?

"Where we're being just real, and Soledad was just being honest at that moment. She looked at her for who she was? 'Come on, you're fat. Let's go. Move.' At that moment, me, I didn't judge it. Reading it outside of the character, I did judge it.

"But as Soledad, I didn't. It was just the facts. Soledad catches herself. She does catch herself, but not enough to be like, 'Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean that.' Enough to just be like, 'Come on, move.'"

The Interview - Dietland
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

Nash has two moments of empowerment she enjoyed playing with for Plum during the season. "I think that interview she gave, where she's finally putting her face behind her words before she kind of set everything on fire.

"I think that was a big moment for her, where she felt like she was doing something that she was uniquely good at. And then also… God, what was it? I had it, and it disappeared. Oh! Telling off the people, or the woman in the weight loss surgery, in the doctor's office." She believes those scenes are indicative of the growth Plum showed after the first three episodes of the season.

Which character comes the closest to treating others with honesty and dignity like that they were fighting so hard to get?

Weigert realized the question came with baggage in the story is from the point of view of Plum, and she chose accordingly.

Calling out Debra Monk's performance, Plum's mom got the nomination. "She has a pretty awesome mom who's got her best interest in mind, who wants her to recognize her true strengths, and who doesn't judge her, sees her for who she is. All these things we would all wish our mothers would do. We didn't have it and are grateful if our mothers did. "

Plum Gets Angry - Dietland Season 1 Episode 7
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

It was a little more difficult for Nash who even interrupted her list of names with, "I have such affection for everyone," before adding, "Maybe not Kitty." Sana, Julia, and Leeta were the others on her list.

Tunie laid it on the line by announcing not a single one of them were as good as they let others believe they wanted to be, and that's probably the closest to real life.

What about real life? What kind of discussions is Dietland fostering? We know it spawned a companion aftershow on AMC called Unapologetic with Aisha Tyler.

Weigert is fascinated with history and how long it's taken for the breakthrough that has allowed this discussion to occur at all. She shared a very interesting tale with me about the "evil eye" and the witches trials. At the time, male magistrates would make women face them backward for fear of getting "that look," and Weigert had some thoughts on that today.

Related: Dietland Season 1 Episode 6 Review: Belly of the Beast

"And I still think that that terror exists in the culture and it's fascinating to me. It's like, if women are looking, and they're looking with the condemning eye, it's as if the whole edifice is going to crumble.

"There's inside of that feeling of powerlessness that women have harbored, there is this fascinating reversal that seems possible just with a look that crushes the whole, what's being called the patriarchy or whatever. Just stand there trembling before that gate, and I'm kind of fascinated by that dynamic.

"It sort of scares us all, a little bit. What is this power? There's a mystery to it. There's a mystery to how this is going to unfold and what it's going to eventually evolve into and become. At least to me."

Verena Gets Revenge - Dietland Season 1 Episode 10
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

You know that beer that has "the most fascinating man" commercials? After conversing with Robin Weigert, I'm looking for a beer who is ready to topple that travesty. I think I may have found the world's most fascinating woman.

But wait! The other women are not to be outdone.

Nash is watching real-world women become sensations on social media and loving every minute of it.

"I just clicked on a link. A woman in France, some guy catcalled her, and she told him to shut up. He came back and punched her in the face. And it was all caught on CCTV.

"And her response was just so badass, it was just… She's like, 'I saw him coming, I knew what he was going to do. And I stood up and took it full force. I looked at him in his eyes and let him know; you can't stop me. You can punch me in the face, but I'm not taking this.' I just thought it was so f–king cool. "

As for how long she thinks it will take to get somewhere in this conversation, Nash says, "I don't know, man. That's a big question. I think we need to respect each other and see each other as fully-fledged human beings. Like we shouldn't be discounting each other because of whatever agenda or whatever."

Julia Tries To Bargain - Dietland Season 1 Episode 8
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

Tunie believes Dietland is what used to be called "watercooler" television. When everybody watched it and gathered around the water cooler the next day at the office to talk about it.

Most importantly, she hopes men are watching, and women who watch are including the men in their lives because it's with them the discussion needs to be taking place.

As for what kind of signal to look out for that the conversation is evening out, Tunie isn't even ready to contemplate that yet, "I think it's changing a culture and that takes time, that takes time. I couldn't even say. All I can hope is that it gets better and better and better and better and that this just isn't a moment, that this actually is a movement and that it really makes a difference."

Related: Dietland Season 1 Episode 5 Review: Plum Tuckered

Leyva may be the new kid on the block, but she's been making waves on Orange is the New Black for six years now and has a lot to say about discussing women's issues.

"Oh, my gosh. I think it's so timely, right? I thought like, 'Oh, wow. This is perfect timing. Marti, were you just waiting? Were you sitting at the sidelines waiting for this?' It was just perfect timing. And I love that it's opening up more of a conversation because this is not just a bunch of angry women. You know what I mean?

Group Meeting - Dietland Season 1 Episode 10
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

"Wanting to bring down the man. No, this is a bunch of women who are just like, 'We're tired of the abuse.' And I think for a minute there when women in Hollywood specifically started coming out and saying things, you would hear … I would hear people say, 'What does that mean for us now? A man can't give us a compliment?' Or a man would … "

"I had one wonderful man say to me, 'It kind of ruins it for us. So now if I see a pretty woman at work, I can't compliment her on how pretty she looks.' And I'm like, 'Why do you feel the need to compliment her on her looks anyway?' You know what I mean? It's like, 'Why is this … Why do you feel like you, the man, is being stripped of his rights?' You know?"

"So I love this that these women are showing, and especially episode 10, where you really get to hear Soledad's story. You get to hear all the other Jennifer stories, in a little bit more detail as to what has driven them to where they are. It's not just a bunch of angry lesbians hiding out hating men.

"No, it's women; a group of women, smart women, women with careers, women who have served in some cases, and served their country, and they're saying, 'Enough is enough. We want to make sure that we are treated fairly, equally, and without this constant abuse that we from a very young age have been taught to believe that's just the way things are or the way things should be.'"

Sophia's Story - Dietland Season 1 Episode 10
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

"So I love that we are talking more about it, and we're showing guys … The rape scene with Plum, some people will argue, it's not rape. Is it rape?

"They were on a date. She was at his house. They were getting it on, right? No, so, it's really starting up this great conversation about how men and women need to start looking at how we have been dealing with each other for years, for decades.

"How we don't talk about things because being female means that you have to put up with this, and being male means you have a right to tell a woman she looks really pretty just because you feel like it in the workplace.

Related: Enjoy UNLIMITED access to thousands of Movies and TV shows with Amazon Prime Video.

"I love the fact that this show is bringing up so much conversation, and that it's showing these women … It's not just angry for no reason, it's set up with the way they've been treated."

In her career, Leyva says, "I was always called a bitch by men in my early years as an actress. By directors, a diva." Not because she wanted special treatment, but because she wanted a clean bathroom or a more thorough explanation of the production; things she saw her male co-stars getting all the time without receiving a second glance.

So now, Leyva's final words on the subject say it all. "I'm sorry for the men that feel this is such a burden, but, oh well. Welcome to our world."

If you thought everything would be tied up with a nice little bow, you would be terribly mistaken.

It shouldn't come as a surprise how Dietland Season 1 Episode 10 ended — with more questions asked and even more lives in limbo.

We knew Plum was going to be welcomed into the group. There were only two ways it could to go for her. Plum would be let in, or she would be killed. She's our hero, so chances were good she would survive.

Truth Or Dare? - Dietland Season 1 Episode 10
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

Who else wanted to hear the stories from the other women in Jennifer? It was heartbreaking hearing Sophia's greatest memory of Jennifer. It's clear she has been through more than most people and her anger is warranted.

Related: Dietland Season 1 Episode 9 Review: Woman Down

Sophia enduring repeated rapes, but also making excuses for the man, reminded me of Plum is so many ways. Plum tried to make excuses for why Jack did what he did to her and made it sound like it was her fault.

It was wonderful hearing Soledad's story, too. What really got me was when Plum shared that she had heard the tragic story of the young girl on the train tracks, but hadn't given it a lot of attention at the time. It's something many of us do on a daily basis when it comes to tragic news.

Time To Run - Dietland Season 1 Episode 10
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

It's so easy to gloss over sad stories, but we also have to remember the victims of these heinous crimes. Sofia's and Soledad's stories made me realize how important a group such as Jennifer is to them.

Related: Dietland Season 1 Episode 8 Review: Rad Fatties

Both of these women needed to funnel their anger into something important. Do I think it's wrong to murder people?  I do, but Soledad's story about her daughter gave the impression she's doing the right thing by going after these terrible people.

This also brings up the point I've been making about Plum this whole season — she made a rash decision in joining Jennifer. Plum deserves to get revenge on Jack because of what he did to her, but she also needed to get some mental help as well.

Jennifer - Dietland Season 1 Episode 10
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

Instead of turning to a group of women who want to cause harm to men who have wronged them, I wish Plum would have turned to a real psychiatrist to talk about the various issues she has suffered.

Related: Dietland Season 1 Episode 7 Review: Monster High

Plum's mental health has taken a beating for an extremely long time, but she continues to ignore it. Case in point, Soledad brought up the men she had worked with in the army and about how there are good men out there in the world, too.

Plum immediately started to get defensive by what Soledad was saying without listening to what she was trying to get Plum to understand. There are some great men and women out there, but there are also terrible people out in the world, too.

Sophia's Story - Dietland Season 1 Episode 10
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

Plum's hate of all men has to be discussed. She only wants to focus on the evil side of things instead of looking at the good. Plum wants to place all of her hate and rage on every single man. We can even make a case for Dominic in all of this.

Related: Dietland Season 1 Episode 6 Review: Belly of the Beast

Dominic made the wrong decision in joining Kitty at the top, but it was understandable. Dominic was at the end of his rope and had lost everything. Money talks, especially when you desperately need it because you've lost everything you cared about.

While I agree he should have never lied to Plum, he didn't do anything horrible to her. He tried to apologize to Plum countless times. Plum could have easily let Dominic say his peace and decided on some type of forgiveness.

Dominic And Kitty - Dietland Season 1 Episode 10
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

Dominic could have easily turned in Leeta, but he instead brought her to Plum's apartment because he knew Plum cared about her. He was trying to make amends with her the only way he knew how. Was it flawed? Yes, but at least he was trying.

Speaking of Leeta, I want to know what happened to her to make her lose all touch with reality. They brought up the Stella Cross murder, and you have to wonder why it affected Leeta so much.

You also couldn't blame Eladio for abandoning Leeta. As terrible as it was, Eladio never wanted anything to do with Jennifer. Had he stayed with Leeta, he could have easily been arrested for harboring a fugitive.

Julia's Caught - Dietland Season 1 Episode 10
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

Was anyone even surprised by Verena going straight to the FBI? The moment Sana spoke up about the way Verena ran things at Calliope House it was clear Verena was going to turn them all in.

Related: Dietland Season 1 Episode 5 Review: Plum Tuckered

Verena also made sure to protect herself in all of this by ensuring she would stay anonymous. It was insane to see how calm and collected Verena was about turning in people she felt wronged her. The theme of revenge was prevalent during the finale.

I couldn't have been the only one who felt terrible for Julia's sisters, right? They were trying to distance themselves from this entire mess, but they still ended up going down with the sinking ship.

No Regrets - Dietland Season 1 Episode 10
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

You have to wonder which one is going to turn first. Will Julia protect her sisters by taking all the blame or will her sisters implicate Julia in all the crimes committed by Jennifer?

Of course, you also have a massive manhunt for Soledad who is the true face of Jennifer. This is, again, why Plum has gotten in over her head. She is now a part of a violent group and could easily spend years in prison for her involvement.

I was hoping Plum wouldn't run after the car but would instead have claimed to be a hostage so she could write the stories of Jennifer. She could have easily stayed in the group but also provided their message to the masses.

Group Meeting - Dietland Season 1 Episode 10
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

Even Kitty knew the only way she was going to stay on top is if Jennifer lives. It's no wonder why she's trying to find someone on the inside. Once she can get ahold of one of the women she is protected.

Related: Dietland Season 1 Episode 3 Review: Y Not

The most frustrating thing about this finale is the number of questions remaining. There are many loose ends dangling in the wind, and we still don't know if the show is going to get renewed. But it's also true to life.

These characters are always going to fight for justice and/or power. Plum will continue to run from the police being part of Jennifer, Kitty will continue to fight to stay on top, and Dominic will continue to try to get Plum's forgiveness.

Kitty Is Unsure - Dietland Season 1 Episode 10
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

In the end, it didn't matter if they had all been arrested because the group's message will live. This group gave women the voice they needed, and the power from Jennifer's message will never go away.

Jennifer still lives.

Now it's your turn to tell me what you thought.

Did you think this was a satisfying finale? Do you hope for a second season? Do you believe Plum made the right decision?

On Dietland Season 1 Episode 10, Plum is officially welcomed into Jennifer. The ladies welcome her with a dinner and a game of Truth or Dare. During the game, Plum hears why Sophia joined Jennifer and why Soledad essentially created the group. Plum continues to talk about how terrible men and Soledad takes some time to tell Plum not all men are terrible in this world. Plum is convinced Soledad is making excuses, but she continues to tell her they only want to get revenge on the men who did terrible things.

Things quickly take a turn after Verena goes to the FBI and turns over the names in the Jennifer group. The next day Soledad's picture is plastered on various papers and the group needs to move quickly. Plum isn't sure she'll be able to keep up and Soledad tells her to stay behind and when she is caught let them know she was just a hostage. She asks Plum to tell their story. Plum eventually gets up the courage to go after the group and rejoins them while they make a run for it.

Meanwhile, Julia is arrested outside of Austen Media while trying to get a car to help Leeta escape. In other parts of New York Julia's sisters are also arrested for the crimes committed by Jennifer. Eladio doesn't want to be involved in any of the Jennifer stuff and he leaves Leeta behind in the beauty closet. Eventually Dominic makes his way up to the closet where he finds Leeta and brings her back to Plum's apartment to keep her safe. Unfortunately, he isn't able to get ahold of Plum as she is on the run with the group.

On Dietland Season 1 Episode 9, Plum tracks down Jennifer, but will she regret going after them once she enters their lair? Read on to find out!

Who knew a beauty closet was the perfect place to hide a person!

Things took a serious turn on Dietland Season 1 Episode 9 when Plum is finally able to get ahold of the group known as Jennifer.

Let's dive right into the main story — Plum trying to join Jennifer. I understood why Plum would turn to this group, but she made all the wrong choices.

Plum Waits - Dietland Season 1 Episode 9
(Nicole Rivelli/AMC)

This has been my biggest gripe with Plum all season — she makes rash decisions without looking at the big picture. Did she really think those women were going to welcome her with open arms?

Related: Dietland Season 1 Episode 8 Review: Rad Fatties

Her knowing Leeta didn't matter at all because these women mean business and they want to take out as many people as they can. Jennifer has turned from a group wanting to right wrongs to a group who thinks violence is the answer to their issues.

How could Plum not know there was going to be some type of initiation into the group? The women are killers, and they needed to make sure Plum would be able to pull the trigger when it was time.

Is Plum Ready? - Dietland Season 1 Episode 9
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

Of course, there was no way Plum was going to go through with Belle's plans. Plum has gotten way over her head and knows too much, and now a group of violent women will decide her fate.

Related: Dietland Season 1 Episode 7 Review: Monster High

Plum did get credit for trying to reach out to the people who care about her. Mrs. Kettle was breaking my heart. She loves her daughter very much and continues to raise her up, but Plum doesn't want to disappoint her.

I was hopeful when Plum invited out Sana. I thought it would possibly get Plum to see she did nothing wrong, but it only seemed to solidify what Plum was feeling. Sana was correct in saying what Jack did was assault and he deserved to be arrested.

Plum's Mind - Dietland Season 1 Episode 9
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

Plum making excuses for Jack's behavior is the kind of behavior seen from many victims of sexual assault. They try to justify the actions of the person who abused them and try to laugh it off because it makes it a little less real.

Related: Dietland Season 1 Episode 6 Review: Belly of the Beast

Who else was proud of Sana for standing up to Verena? Verena means well but doesn't know the ways of the real world. Verena can continuously bring up having house votes, but Verena's word is final.

The women may be free to go at any time, but they also have nowhere to go. The women of Calliope House can be seen as prisoners albeit with much nicer digs and just a little more freedom to come and go.

Plum's Joins Jennifer - Dietland Season 1 Episode 9
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

It was wonderful that Sana brought up Julia as well. Julia, while she may be wealthy, needed Verena's support. Julia knew she had gotten in over her head, but she didn't deserve to be kicked out.

Related: Get HBO via Prime Video Channels for Addictive Dramas, Hilarious Comedies & Hit Movies!

Speaking of Julia, you can't blame her sisters for wanting to go to the FBI. Jacinthia and Jill have their own families to worry about, and Jennifer wouldn't think twice about going after families if they felt threatened.

The biggest shock came when it was revealed Julia has been hiding Leeta in the beauty closet. You have to wonder how involved Leeta really was in the in the various murders Jennifer had committed.

Eladio And Julia - Dietland Season 1 Episode 9
(Nicole Rivelli/AMC)

It did seem like the mental anguish of being in a violent group had gotten to Leeta, but she isn't able to properly express herself. I know there is only one episode left, but I hope we get more information on Leeta.

Related: Dietland Season 1 Episode 5 Review: Plum Tuckered

Leeta has been the only person we know nothing about, yet she's been at the center of the entire storyline. All roads could easily lead to Leeta, but why?

No one was surprised by Kitty, right? I have had such a love/hate relationship with Kitty, but she killed it in the conference room. You couldn't even get angry with her when she threatened to blackmail all of the men in the room if she didn't get what she wanted.

A Cryptic Message - Dietland
(AMC)

Stanley doesn't deserve to be the head of Austen Media. He is a terrible human being who has tried to hide the horrible things he has done to women. It's the right move to kick his ass out of the company.

Is Kitty the right choice to take over? Probably not, but you can't help but applaud her for getting precisely what she wanted. Stanley took everything from her, and now she has taken everything from him. Dominic was right — they are perfect for each other.

Now it's your turn to tell me what you think.

Do you think Plum made a rash decision? What do you think happened to Leeta? Do you think Julia's sisters will go to the FBI?

On Dietland Season 1 Episode 9, Plum is having a difficult time coming to terms with what Jack did to her. She tries to reach out to her mom, but she isn't able to reveal what happened to her. She eventually decides to contact Sana who tells her she needs to go to the police. Plum reasons she deserved what happened to her because she encouraged Jack and he didn't see anything wrong with what he did.

Sana continues to tell her she is not to blame for what happened, but Plum is not having it. Plum decides to try to get in contact with Jennifer by going through Leeta's journal. Plum is able to find a clue on how to contact them through the computer and she is successful. Three women grab Plum the next day while she is walking in the park and bring her to Detroit where Jennifer is based.

The women are hesitant to let Plum join the group, but Belle tries to reason with the group. Belle takes Plum out to the shooting range to get her used to a gun and she proceeds to set up a case for her. She wants Plum to shoot a man who has been raping little girls, but when the time comes Plum isn't able to pull the trigger. Belle reveals this was a test to see if she'd be able to kill anyone and Plum failed. Plum asks what is going to happen to her, but Belle isn't able to answer. Since Plum knows too much they may decide to kill her.

Meanwhile, Kitty is able to blackmail the board to get Stanley out of Austen Media and make her CEO of the company.

We need to take a moment to appreciate the voiceovers which happen every single episode. They set things up perfectly.

It's fascinating to see how radical Plum has gotten on Dietland Season 1 Episode 8, but it's a testament to the Jennifer movement.

Verena was right about the group taking things too far, but Plum sees them as a group of women who are demanding justice in the world. While the message is appreciated, the group doesn't have the right to threaten women who don't listen.

Plum's Intrigued - Dietland Season 1 Episode 8
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

Plum sees these women as pioneers, but they are quickly turning into much more, and their message is getting lost in the threats, and the murder, they continue to commit.

Related: Dietland Season 1 Episode 7 Review: Monster High

How could Plum be even a little shocked to learn Austen Media was suing her? She was using the name of the magazine and their former editor in her e-mail blast — there was no way they were going to let her get away with it.

It made no sense why she thought they would take it easy on her because she didn't have money. The whole point of a lawsuit is basically to shut you up — the money is just an added bonus to the lawsuit.

Plum Gets Served - Dietland Season 1 Episode 8
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

Kitty's demands were surprisingly reasonable considering who Kitty is, and you have to give her credit for looking at the Plum situation as a way to make more money for Austen Media.

Related: Dietland Season 1 Episode 6 Review: Belly of the Beast

Plum doing the interview caused further issues. Why would she think it was a good idea to bring up Calliope House? You can't even get mad at the other women when they were taking issues with Plum talking about the house.

These women are in hiding from people who have hurt them — they didn't ask for the added attention. Verena tried to get Plum to see what the others were saying, but Plum only wanted to see one side.

Trouble At Calliope House - Dietland Season 1 Episode 8
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

It has been the issues with Plum all season. While Plum is a strong woman, she only wants to see one side instead of seeing things from  different angles. She embraced her anger, yes, but she also needed to respect those around her and understand why they were so upset.

Related: Dietland Season 1 Episode 5 Review: Plum Tuckered

She could have easily let these women express themselves, and their thoughts, in a respectful way but she instead decided to leave the room angry. The women are now in fear for their safety, and Plum can be blamed for it.

Of course Plum decided it was best to leave the house for the evening which put her in the most heartbreaking of situations. I was hoping Plum wouldn't fall for the words Jack was saying.

Plum's Hurt - Dietland Season 1 Episode 8
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

Jack is not only manipulative but also an obsessive man who wanted Plum because of how she looked. He didn't care about her as a human being he wanted to live out his fantasy of being with a larger woman.

Plum was raped. There is no other way around this. When someone is continually telling you no when you are trying to get physical with them, you respect their wishes. Jack didn't.

The moment he threw Plum against the cabinet and forced himself upon her was the moment he raped her. Joy Nash did a phenomenal job of a person leaving their body when they feel violated. Plum not only lost the home in which she felt safe, but also her own body.

Julia Tries To Bargain - Dietland Season 1 Episode 8
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

I'm curious to see what Plum is going to do now. Will she let her anger take over and enact revenge on Jack as the Jennifer group has done to other men? Or will she funnel the anger into blogs and tell her own story of sexual assault?

Related: Dietland Season 1 Episode 4 Review: F… This

Speaking of the Jennifer group, Stanley's feelings are disgusting but not at all shocking to hear. When he started to defend the men on the list, it made me want to scream. It doesn't matter if they are upstanding men in public behind closed doors they are monsters.

It was curious to see Dominic turn on the recorder when Stanley showed up. Could Dominic be playing both sides? He wants to protect Plum, but he's hurting for money which Stanley could provide for him.

Stanley Hires Dominic - Dietland Season 1 Episode 8
(Nicole Rivelli/AMC)

Not only is he in Stanley's pockets but he's also in Kitty's. Dominic is stretching himself thin, and you have to wonder about his endgame. It's like he wants to do what is right, but the dark side tempts him.

Related: Dietland Season 1 Episode 3 Review: Y Not

No one was surprised to hear Stanley has skeletons in his closet, right? What got me was Kitty had forgotten about them. She's such a ruthless person you'd have thought she would automatically be blackmailing Stanley with the knowledge she has.

It's going to be wonderful to see Stanley fall IF they can get their hands on the incriminating evidence. Stanley is convinced he's immune and has complete control over women. It would be delightful to see a woman being the one to take him down.

Kitty And Dominic - Dietland Season 1 Episode 8
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

At least Julia is trying to come up with a way to take down Jennifer; though her plan seemed flawed. Can you blame Jacintha for regretting getting involved in this plan? The Jennifer group is dangerous, and they will go after Julia's family.

Julia also knew she couldn't go to the FBI because she would be implicated in the whole Jennifer debacle. She was involved in the dirty dozen murders, and she wouldn't be able to escape some type of jail time for those murders.

I'm still not convinced they are going to take Julia's offer of money. The women are out for revenge because of the terrible things they have gone through already. They're releasing their anger the only way they know how.

Julia Forms A Plan - Dietland Season 1 Episode 8
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

They've been silenced for a long time, but their voices are finally being heard. Is violence the answer? Of course not, but it's not hard to see what kind of mindset the Jennifer group has.

It's only a matter of time before everything implodes. They've set the stage beautifully for these characters to make their final decisions, and last moves, which could change lives forever.

Now it's your turn to tell me what you think.

What are your thoughts on the Plum and Jack moment? Do you think Jennifer is going to take the deal? What do you think Stanley is hiding?

On Dietland Season 1 Episode 8, Plum is basking in the new found fame after she emailed Kitty's girls. Things take a turn when she is served with papers from Austen Media. Plum is shocked to read the demands set forth in the lawsuit. Kitty wants her to not only stop blogging but essentially disappear from the internet. Plum talks with Dominic about what she should do and Dominic agrees to talk with Kitty about what she may want in exchange for getting rid of the lawsuit.

Kitty agrees to drop the lawsuit if Plum agrees to an interview with Daizy Chain. Plum agrees to it, but she sets forth her own rules of choosing the person who interviews her. Plum goes to the interview, but she gets ahead of herself when she starts talking about Calliope House. Plum is on cloud nine when she arrives at the house, but the women of Calliope House are angry. They tell Plum she had no right to talk about the house as it is supposed to be a safe place for the women as they have escaped people who are after them.

Verena informs Plum if she isn't able to accept what the women have said maybe it's best she leave the house. Plum contemplates what Verena has said and leaves the house to go on a date with Jack. Things go well and he apologizes for the way he treated her previously. Plum expresses her anger about the way she was treated at Calliope House and Jack invites her back to his place.

The two of them start making out on the couch but Jack starts to get a little too handsy with Plum and she tells him to stop. Jack stops and the two again begin to make out until Jack starts to get handsy again and Plum, again, tells him to stop. Plum gets up to start to leave and Jack stops her by starting to make out with her. She's clearly uncomfortable with the situation and Jack ignores her body language and rapes her by pushing her up against a cabinet. Plum becomes distraught and leaves the house quickly.

Meanwhile, Julia tries to convince the women in the Jennifer group to stop with the violence. She offers up a nice sum of money to each of them and threatens if they do not take the deal she will go after them another way as she has the power to do so.

Note to self, do not tag extremely public places.

It looks like the group known as Jennifer has gone even more rouge on Dietland Season 1 Episode 7 when a group of college kids is blown up by a suicide bomber.

It's surprising the ones who created Jennifer didn't see something like this coming. While it started off with getting revenge on the men who have wronged women, it quickly turned into much more.

Plum's Art - Dietland Season 1 Episode 7
(Patrick Harbron/AMC)

Now you have women who are taking the name Jennifer to take revenge on men in general. It's easy to lump all men together in one group and immediately say they are terrible, but it's just not the case.

Related: Dietland Series Premiere Review: Time To Fight Back

Did those kids at the university deserve to die? I imagine there were probably a few of them in the group who deserved a nice swift kick in the ass, but not everyone in the room deserved to perish.

Plum's response to the bombing was rather appalling. It's terrific to see Plum embracing herself, but I don't want to see her lose her empathy as a result.

Crane-Murphy Investigates - Dietland
(AMC)

It's no secret Plum has had her fair share of terrible luck, and she deserves to embrace herself, but she isn't looking at the big picture. She's all about embracing the anger of the Jennifer group instead of the original message.

Cheryl said it best about Jennifer warping young minds. It wasn't difficult to see this group has evolved into something dangerous, but the people doing these violent things believe they are doing what is best.

Steven's reaction to Plum's explanation of Calliope House made sense. Steven wants the best for his friend and wants to be there for her, but he also needed to provide her with a clear perspective on Calliope House.

Verena And Plum Chat - Dietland Season 1 Episode 7

A lot of people will say Steven's words were harsh, but it also needed to be sad out loud. Steven doesn't want Plum to be a thin woman; he wants her to be healthy.

The biggest misconception about being healthy is people automatically picture someone thin, but it's not always the case. You can love your curves, but you still need to take care of yourself.

Steven: Losing weight will turn you into better prey? How about staying fat will kill you?

Plum: Excuse me?

Steven: Look, Plum, I love you, but I’m gonna go hard here. You are not healthy. You are not well. I can’t tell you how many times you have walked in here and huffed and puffed and I was terrified you were going to have a heart attack and die on my floor.

It's clear Plum went through something terrible when she was in college, too. There has to be a reason why she went on anti-depressants, and I'm impatiently waiting for the big reveal from Plum's past.

Finishing Touches - Dietland Season 1 Episode 7

The frustrating thing about Plum's argument with Steven is the reminder of everyone has a battle they are fighting. We can respect Plum's anger while also appreciating what Steven is trying to say.

Steven doesn't understand what Plum has gone through, but he wasn't belittling her struggles, either. He just wanted what was best for Plum, and he sees Calliope House as the enemy.

Speaking of Calliope House, it was shocking to hear Verena so angry about Jennifer. Verena wants to help women, but she doesn't believe in killing.

Verena always projects this strong woman, but there is something about Julia which just gets under her skin. Here's hoping we get more information on the relationship between the two of them.

Verena did bring up a great suggestion about Plum creating art. Plum had dived into baking to try to take her mind off things, but it was high time for her to pour herself into works of art.

Was anyone else confused about Plum getting angry about not getting the deposit back? It's never been a secret once you sign a contract you generally don't get anything back.

At least Plum channeled the anger into art; though she probably shouldn't have done it in such a public place where she could get caught especially because the detectives would immediately assume the art had to do with Jennifer.

Of course, Dominic would be the one who would get Plum out. At least Dominic was trying to be honest with Plum about the night he was in her apartment, but he should have kept his mouth shut about not being able to get Plum out of his mind.

Who else felt for Kitty when she was shopping? It's easy to say Kitty deserves the karma, but she did not deserve that treatment from Stanley.

It's difficult for a woman such as KItty to let go of the power she used to have. She believed she'd be able to threaten Stanely to get her job back. Stanley now has leverage over Kitty.

He knows what she wants the most, and he's going to do everything in his power to hold it over her head. Kitty has fallen so far to the bottom, and she doesn't know what to do with herself.

I'm still on the fence about Plum contacting all of Kitty's girls. On the one hand, it's a fantastic idea because a lot of these girls needed to hear from a woman they could relate to on many different levels.

On the other hand, this is going to bit Plum on the ass. There's no way Kitty, and Austen Media, are going to let Plum get away with this. Stanley doesn't like women taking control, and he's going to go through some dirty tactics to get Plum.

Now it's your turn to tell me what you think.

What are your thoughts on Plum contacting Kitty's girls? Do you think Dominic is being honest? What do you think of Jennifer?

On Dietland Season 1 Episode 7, Plum has fully embraced the anger she had inside but she is distancing a lot of people in the process. When she goes to meet with Steven she tells him everything she has learned from Calliope House. He tries to convince her to get away from the group because they are dangerous, but Plum is convinced he is trying to control her. Steven explains he just wants to see Plum be healthy.

Plum goes back to Calliope House and confides in Verena about what Steven said to her. Verena explains she needs to ignore what he said and instead listen to her body. Verena suggests she do some artwork with Sana to put her anger into something else.

Plum goes to Sana and she helps her find herself in art. Plum gets energized from the artwork and decides to go to the doctor's office to try to get a refund on the deposit she made for the surgery. Unfortunately, things take a turn for the worse when she is told she won't be able to get the refund because she signed a contract stating she couldn't get it back. Plum takes her anger art by tagging the side of the building with her new piece of art but is quickly caught by the cops and arrested.

At the station, Plum is questioned about possibly being involved with the group Jennifer, but she denies any involvement with them. Dominic is able to get her out of there, but she is not grateful. Dominic wants to talk with her about the picture she sent him, but she still doesn't trust him. He tries to tell her he can't stop thinking about her, but she again doesn't want to hear it.
