You know you love Eva Longoria, and why wouldn’t you?

Eva Longoria is not only a talented actress who chooses projects that speak not just to her amazing acting talent but resonate with her heart in a way that shows in her performances.

She may have gotten recognition from her role on a drama-dripping soap opera with a cast of actors who have no right to be as attractive as they are talented, but Longoria has proven she is so much more than a pretty face and a smile that could melt steel.

With wins from the Screen Actors Guild and the People’s Choice, the actress is a familiar face who has been entertaining folks since the start of the millennium.

If this fantastic woman hasn’t won you over yet, do a quick search of her to see how she brings thousands of dollars to charities and foundations that help impoverished communities and immigrants worldwide.

Now, get ready to put a smile on that face because Eva Longoria has a whole lot of heart and humor coming your way with some of her best work to date, including a little upcoming role that we at TV Fanatic are at the edge of our seats to watch!

Overboard (2018)

Role: Theresa. Available for rent or purchase.

Theresa - Eva Longoria - Dog Days - 2018 - Lionsgate
(Lionsgate (Screenshot))

While the original Overboard with Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn has become somewhat problematic, somehow switching the gender roles of the story and adding Anna Faris made the film more relatable while pushing the comedy past what the original achieved.

Kate is a single, working-class mother of three hired to clean a luxury yacht that belongs to Leonardo, a selfish, spoiled, and wealthy Mexican playboy.

After unjustly firing Kate, Leonardo falls off the boat and wakes up without remembering who he is. To get payback, Kate shows up at the hospital and convinces the confused amnesiac that they’re married.

As Leonardo gets used to manual labor and his new family, Kate wonders how long she can keep fooling her fake husband.

Despite what critics might have you believe with the movie’s low RT score, this is still a story worth watching with some timeless themes and messages.

Eva Longoria takes a backseat as a wise-cracking sidekick friend willing to throw herself under the bus to save Anna Faris’s character, and the film is all the better for her performance, which grounds the otherwise zany Faris.

Dog Days (2018)

Role: Grace. Available to watch on The CW.

Grace - 2 - Eva Longoria - Dog Days - 2018 - LD Entertainment
(LD Entertainment (Screenshot))

Honestly, this movie looks like every television network got together and dropped in an actor from each of their respective shows because I can’t remember the last time I saw a cast list with so many familiar small screen faces.

Elizabeth is a charming anchorwoman who seeks advice from her dog’s therapist. Tara is a spunky barista who dreams of a life beyond the coffee shop.

Daisy is a dog walker who’s enamored with a client. Garrett pines for a woman while trying to keep his adopt-a-dog business afloat.

The beloved canines in their lives soon start to influence their careers, friendships, and romantic relationships in funny and unexpected ways.

Sure, it’s a romantic comedy, but there’s one thing even critics can’t deny, and that’s the power of a pooch, which may be why this movie received some solid reviews. I’m sure the actors were great, too, but we’re really here for the canine companions.

Eva Longoria deviates from comedy to play Grace, a mother who serves up heart in heaps with more love for her child than she can sometimes handle.

Cast: Vanessa Hudgens (Powerless), Michael Cassidy (Good Trouble), Nina Dobrev (The Vampire Diaries), Tone Bell (Truth Be Told), Adam Pally (Happy Endings), Thomas Lennon (Santa Clarita Diet), Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things), Tig Notaro (Star Trek: Discovery)

You don’t need to trek to the theater to get your romantic comedy fix, as Netflix has got you covered with the hilarious and sweet series Emily in Paris starring Lily Collins.

Dora and the Lost City of Gold (2019)

Role: Elena Marquez. Available to watch on Paramount+.

Elena Marquez - Eva Longoria - Dora - 2019 - Paramount Pictures
(Paramount Pictures (Screenshot))

You’re probably wondering why we would include a movie clearly intended for kids on a list of titles geared toward adults, and all that can be said is that you answered your own question. We’re here to serve up a little something for everyone.

Even though it’s based on a popular children’s animated show, this live-action adaptation bridges the generational gap. Anyone of any age will love this wild ride of Hispanic proportions.

Having spent most of her life exploring the jungle, nothing could prepare Dora for her most dangerous adventure yet — high school.

Accompanied by a ragtag group of teens and Boots the Monkey, Dora embarks on a quest to save her parents while trying to solve the seemingly impossible mystery behind a lost Incan civilization.

If you need the critic’s input before landing on whether to watch something, you may be in for a surprise to find out that this movie is just as beloved by reviewers as it is by the audience that left the theaters likely with smiles still on their faces from this certified fresh film.

Elena checks all the boxes of the stereotypical loving mother, offering compassion and solid advice while whipping up baked goods, but then again, her character is based on a cartoon.

Cast: Isabela Merced (The Last of Us), Eugenio (Acapulco), Michael Pena (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan), Jeff Wahlberg (The Girl from Plainville), Madeleine Madden (The Wheel of Time), Temuera Morrison (Ahsoka), Danny Trejo (RZR), Benicio del Toro (Escape at Dannemora)

Unplugging (2022)

(Hulu (Screenshot))

Listen, we are all for reconnecting with nature and your loved ones as much as possible, but for God’s sake, have some backup plan, like a life alert.

To revive their marriage and reconnect, a couple takes a self-prescribed digital detox weekend to a remote mountain town. What starts as a perfect weekend getaway without technology quickly spirals out of control.

Sure, not every project can be a hit, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t genuine laughs to be had in this comedy, especially when you bring together a few faces known for their funny film and television performances.

The best way to describe Jeanine is by saying she is a workaholic wound so tightly that if you placed a rock squarely between her cheeks, you’d have a diamond by the morning because this type A character truly needs unplugging.

The Young and the Restless (2001-2003)

Role: Isabella Brana. Available to stream on Paramount+.

Isabella Brana - Eva Longoria - TYATR - 2001 - CBS
(CBS (Screenshot))

Soap opera actors must have excellent medical insurance because it has to be murder on the neck to whip your head around dramatically, but how else are they supposed to get across how serious they’re being on The Young and The Restless?

I guess they could always shoot someone. That seems to be a popular plot device in these drama-drenched series with actors so handsome and beautiful — it’s like looking into the sun.

The Newmans and the Abbotts represent Genoa City’s upper class. Powerful Businessman Victor Newman runs Newman Enterprises and has never stopped loving his former flame and wife, Nikki Reed Newman.

Jack Abbott and his sister, Ashley, are closely connected with the Newman family, personally and professionally.

The battle for supremacy in Genoa City has been going on for years. Katherine Chancellor and Jill Foster Abbott, the Winters family, the Williams family, and recent newcomers round out the socially and ethnically diverse town.

Can you believe this series is still airing? It’s hard to fathom, but the show is still going strong over fifty years after its debut. There are shows that are lifers, and there are some that seem downright immortal.

Isabella Brana - 2 - Eva Longoria - TYATR - 2001 - CBS

Cast: Peter Bergman (The King of Queens), Eric Braeden (How I Met Your Mother), Sharon Case (Poor Paul), Sean Dominic (Makeup X Breakup), Melissa Claire Egan (Misguided), Hayley Erin (General Hospital), Camryn Grimes (NCIS), Amelia Heinle (Ghost Whisperer)

Do you ever notice that Soap Operas usually have show titles that are just as extra and dramatic as the stories they depict? For example, The Bold and The Beautiful is still going as strong as this series decades later and streaming on Paramount+.

Desperate Housewives (2004-2012)

Role: Gabrielle Solis. Available to stream on Hulu.

Gabrielle Solis - Eva Longoria - Desperate Housewives - 2004 - ABC
(ABC (Screenshot))

It seems odd to have to inform people about this one-of-a-kind show, but if you can believe it, there are still people who haven’t tuned in to see the residents of Wysteria Lane on Desperate Housewives. That’s just crazy talk.

Behind the facade of a postcard-perfect subdivision live four women whose lives are anything but idyllic. Klutzy Susan is divorced and the mother of teenage Julie.

Lynette is married to Tom and the frazzled mother of four rambunctious children. Bree is the neighborhood’s Martha Stewart, whose perfection masks significant dysfunction.

Ex-model Gabrielle, married to handsome and successful Carlos, wants to have her cake and eat it too. Looking down on it all is Mary Alice, who took her own life but comments on the lives of her former neighbors.

Coming straight from her role on a soap opera, we can’t imagine it was that hard for Longoria to slip into the heels of an ex-model who married for love and especially money while having an affair with the soap opera hot teenager who mows their lawn.

That might’ve been a tough sell to any actress, but Eva Longoria was clearly having fun playing the part, considering she shines as Gabrielle Solis.

Cast: Teri Hatcher (Fantasy Island), Felicity Huffman (Get Shorty), Marcia Cross (Monarch), Nicollette Sheridan (Dynasty), Ricardo Chavira (Selena: The Series), Brenda Strong (Supergirl), James Denton (Good Witch), Vanessa Williams (Girls5eva)

It’s hard to imagine any show could come close to capturing the perfect balance of comedy, drama, and characters that remain likable while having questionable intentions, but why try to imagine when you can just stream Why Women Kill on Paramount+?

Devious Maids (2016)

Role: Herself. Available to stream on Hulu.

Herself - Eva Longoria - Devious Maids - 2016 - Lifetime
(Lifetime (Screenshot))

If there’s one person you never want to mess with, it’s a maid. People forget how seamlessly these hospitality providers move behind the scenes and how much they can learn about a person from very little. And these are definitely some Devious Maids.

In Beverly Hills, whoever ‘has the dirt’ holds the power. In some of the city’s wealthiest families, the power belongs to the close-knit group of maids with ambitions and dreams.

The maids are brought together by their jobs, life struggles, and their employers’ upstairs-downstairs universe. Rosie, who left Mexico after her husband’s death, works for a pair of self-absorbed actors.

Aspiring singer Carmen hopes her pop-star employer can help get her career off the ground. Still, her boss, Odessa, will do whatever it takes to stand in her way, and Zoila works beside her teenage daughter, Valentina, for an emotionally unstable woman.

The maids, along with newcomer Marisol, turn to one another for support when fellow maid Flora is murdered in her employer’s home. Then, a loved one gets wrapped up in the murder, and Marisol searches for the truth.

It was inevitable that Eva Longoria would find her way onto this series, considering she was an executive producer. Even though she technically plays herself, it’s very obvious that performs as a caricature of herself—an amalgamation of all her previous characters, really.

Herself - 2 - Eva Longoria - Devious Maids - 2016 - Lifetime
(Lifetime (Screenshot))

Cast: Ana Ortiz (Love, Victor), Dania Ramirez (Sweet Tooth), Roselyn Sanchez (Home Economics), Judy Reyes (Dr. Death), Edy Ganem (9-1-1), Rebecca Wisocky (Ghosts), Drew Van Acker (Titans), Cristian de la Fuente (Manchild)

If there is one thing that many entries on this list prove, it’s that an all-female ensemble series is a hit with audiences, which is why so many people love Good Girls, currently streaming on Netflix.

Decline and Fall (2017)

Role: Margot Beste-Chetwynde. Available to stream on Acorn TV.

Margot Beste-Chetwynde - Eva Longoria - Decline and Fall - 2017 - BBC One
(BBC One (Screenshot))

This was certainly a treat for fans of Eva Longoria. Although she is not an actress who takes on period projects, it’s clear that the comedic opportunity spoke to her wheelhouse. Plus, they don’t make fashion and headwear like on Decline and Fall anymore.

Based on Evelyn Waugh’s 1028 novel of the same name, Oxford University student Paul Pennyfeather is wrongly expelled for indecent exposure after falling victim to an ill-conceived prank, triggering a rather unfortunate and unexpected series of events.

After his expulsion, Paul moves to Wales and takes up a teaching position. He immediately falls head over heels for the Honorable Mrs. Margot Beste-Chetwynde, the mother of one of his students.

After agreeing to tutor her son over the summer, Paul becomes wrapped up in far more than he could have ever bargained for.

As Margot, Eva plays a woman who is used to getting what she wants. When she sets her eyes on Pennyfeather, it isn’t long before the wedding bells ring.

Cast: Jack Whitehall (Bad Education), David Suchet (His Dark Materials), Douglas Hodge (The Great), Vincent Franklin (Happy Valley), Stephen Graham (Bodies), Matthew Beard (Funny Woman), Oscar Kennedy (Wreck), Katy Wix (Ted Lasso)

Brits know how to bring a special kind of dry humor that’s surprisingly refreshing with so much goofy comedy on the broadcast airways. However, Fleabag toes the line closely while keeping itself grounded, available for chuckles on Amazon Prime Video.

Empire (2017)

Role: Charlotte Frost. Available to stream on Hulu.

Charlotte Frost - Eva Longoria - Empire - 2017 - Fox
(Fox (Screenshot))

Every so often, a show comes along that is so incredibly written and acted that TV viewers who don’t frequent that particular genre find themselves tuning into a show that they can get enough of even though they probably never would’ve normally watched it.

Just speaking from experience here. This show is incredible, and it’s no wonder that Oscar-nominated director Lee Daniels has called Empire the “Black Dynasty.”

Hip-hop artist and CEO of Empire Entertainment, Lucious Lyon, has always ruled unchallenged. Still, a medical diagnosis predicts he will be incapacitated in three years, which prompts the sharks to circle.

Without further damaging his family, he must decide which of his three sons will take over. His favorite, young Hakeem, is a gifted musician but values fame over hard work. His middle son, Jamal, is talented and shy but gay, embarrassing to Lyon.

The oldest, Andre, is business-minded but lacks charisma. The reappearance of Cookie, his ex-wife, complicates things since she says he owes her for taking the fall for the drug-running that financed his early career.

Eva plays Charlotte Frost, the head of the Las Vegas Gaming Commission, who holds the keys to Lucious entering Vegas. Because she doesn’t drink due to being a conservative Mormon, Lucious’s usual tactics of wining and dining are dead on arrival.

Charlotte Frost - 2 - Eva Longoria - Empire - 2017 - Fox

Cast: Terrence Howard (The Best Man: The Final Chapters), Taraji P. Henson (Abbott Elementary), Bryshere Y. Gray (The New Edition Story), Jussie Smollett (Star), Trai Byers (Harlem), Grace Byers (Phoenix), Malik Yoba (Blue Bloods), Tasha Smith (First Wives Club)

There is no drama like the music industry, and while many times, these stories seem too grand and elaborate to be based on reality, the more we see shows like Star streaming on Hulu, the more we believe the possibility.

Land of Women (2024)

Role: Gala. Available to stream on Apple TV+.

Gala at vineyard - S01E02 - Land of Women Season 1 Episode 2
(Apple TV+)

First, if you haven’t ventured over to Apple TV+ for some of its incredible original programming, I highly recommend Land of Women because even critics can’t get enough of this fantastic series.

A New York socialite is forced to flee to a charming Spanish wine town with her mother and daughter. She navigates small-town quirks while confronting her deepest family secrets and a pair of bumbling hitmen.

Seriously, this show has barely gotten off the ground, but it packs so much into just one episode yet seems to effortlessly balance humor, heart, and heated arguments.

As for Eva Longoria’s Gala, I previously said in my review of the premiere that her character is like if Gabrielle Solis left Carlos, moved to NYC, and landed herself another Mr. Money-bags, and I fully stand by that characterization.

Only Murders in the Building (2024)

Role: Herself. Available to stream on Hulu.

No, your eyes are not deceiving you. Eva will be joining fellow Latina actress Selena Gomez in the absolute phenomenon of a show, Only Murders in the Building. Considering the all-star cast that has already made its way over to the Hulu hit, we are currently chomping at the bit.

Three strangers share an obsession with true crime and suddenly find themselves wrapped up in one.

When a horrible death occurs inside their exclusive Upper West Side apartment building, the trio suspects murder and employs their precise knowledge of true crime to investigate the truth. Perhaps even more explosive are the lies they tell one another.

Soon, the endangered trio comes to realize a killer might be living among them as they race to decipher the mounting clues before it’s too late.

There is no news yet about who Eva Longoria’s character is or how she will be involved in the mystery comedy drama’s story, but if you’ve kept up with the show, you know it will be amazing no matter what. And how crazy was that Meryl Streep reveal from the third season?!

No wonder the most recent season, which premiered with 719 million viewers, came in ninth on the Nielsen overall streaming charts and third among streaming originals.

True crime is almost everywhere in every genre of storytelling right now, from comedic to dramatic to thrilling. Still, in the Peacock series Poker Face, Natasha Lyonne delivers all that and more in this exciting show about a woman with a sixth sense to sniff out liars.

Wherever her career takes her, we will gladly be along for the ride while laughing all the way.

Those maids are going to have to find their sexy time on their own time.

They certainly aren't going to be doing it for our eyes.

Lifetime has chosen to close the door on Devious Maids after Season 4. There will be no Season 5.

On the Screen - Devious Maids Season 3 Episode 8
(Lifetime)

Devious Maids was somewhat of a spinoff of Desperate Housewives after came to an end, and seemed to carry the soapy torch for its first three seasons.

Devious Maids Season 4, however, has been met with some criticism.

Posing As Danni - Devious Maids
(Lifetime)

Apparently that criticism wasn't for nothing, as the ratings, while consistent for the season, remained steady at 0.923 million viewers (L+SD).

That's after toppling from Devious Maids Season 1 high of 3 million viewers. Talk about a bleed!

A New Level - Devious Maids
(Lifetime)

Ana Ortiz, Dania Ramirez, Roselyn Sánchez, Judy Reyes, Susan Lucci, Rebecca Wisocky, Tom Irwin and Grant Show starred on the series for all four seasons.

The vehicle has also given Susan Lucci a place to call home after the demise of the traditional daytime soap opera, most specifically her home for decades, All My Children, where she played Erica Kane.

Lucca effectively grew up on soaps, even though it took her far too long to win her first Daytime Emmy Award for all of her hard work.

With Devious Maids over, it would be a natural fit for her to move onto Lifetime's remaining scripted show, UnREAL, as they can use her style of acting as one of the contestant's mothers.

Susan Lucci going toe to toe with Constance Zimmer and Shiri Appleby would be worth every moment of screen time, and then some.

It seems unlikely any of these talented actors will go without work for too long, as they're all well versed in comedy and drama. They can work virtually anywhere, and pilot season is still in full swing!

Did you expect Devious maids to be renewed? What will be your go-to soapy show in it's place?

Season finales are never boring, and they are never the end.

Devious Maids Season 4 Episode 10 wrapped up the season's secrets and introduced the next mystery that we should be looking forward to when the new season premieres.

Genevieve: My waxer offers complimentary Vicodin.

🔗 permalink: My waxer offers complimentary Vicodin.

Evelyn and Adrian could make anything look fun, but who knew divorce would be the next choice?

I don't get what the point of this breakup was for them, but it looks like absence really does make the heart grow fonder.

But you can only give into those feelings once you are no longer married, and once everything you wanted in the divorce is transferred to you.

Evelyn and Adrian didn't disappoint with their game of chicken, yet I can't help but wonder what is next for those two. They didn't exactly decide what their relationship was and that little look between Adrian and Zoila didn't help.

Zoila and Adrian are going to share something, but I won't accept Evelyn being cheated on.

Maybe if we're lucky, those two will meddle in someone's business and that will bring them one step closer to a friendship that we've all been waiting for.

Genevieve's new girlfriend, Lori, came at the perfect time, which leads me to believe that not everything is as great as it may seem.

Perhaps Lori could pose a threat to Genevieve and who better to plot against her than Zoila and Adrian? Those two could brew up a storm, but would Evelyn approve of this new found friendship? Or is the divorced yet together Powell household in for a shakeup?

Carmen: The police are idiots, they always screw up.

🔗 permalink: The police are idiots, they always screw up.

Carmen and Dani teaming up against Hugh was the highlight of this finale. Those two work best when they are facing a common goal, an annoying white guy with a dark secret.

Dani was even bearable because she finally dropped the fake image and focused on doing something good.

Now that won't last long once Carmen realizes that Dani's dad isn't dead, but that's an issue for another day.

Dani and Carmen have the potential to be a real kickass team, as long as the next season doesn't have them fighting it out once again. It's petty, and these ladies can do better than that.

Solving murders is much more their speed, and it's about time the rest of the world caught up with that.

Carmen: We’re maids and we’re not messing around.

🔗 permalink: We’re maids and we’re not messing around.

How is escaping from prison not a crime of some kind?

Spence literally left prison through a hole in the wall; guilty of murder or not, that's not legal. He is getting so many breaks in life that I honestly wonder what the rest of us can expect.

Spencer is sucking up all the luck in the world and using it for himself; that isn't okay, dude!

Rosie on the other hand…she's a tough woman and has gotten through too much because of her husband.

She is smarter than she gets credit for, but if she dropped that dead weight of her marriage, she could have maybe had more of a chance to relax once in a while.

But since she chose this rollercoaster of a relationship, it's probably time those two get some happiness and someone else has to deal with something.

Now as for that solved mystery, who would have thought Gail was Hugh's daughter?

Her motive didn't make much sense, but that could be because she was never really given one. Regardless, I couldn't help but feel like this season took a random turn with the big bad.

This whole season we were strung along with the bread crumbs for that circle group and their dark secrets, when Peri's death wasn't even connected to Frances and Kyle in any way.

Those two skipped town, but they weren't really necessary in town if we're being honest. They were behind the circle, and that held some answers to the question of who killed Peri, but in the end it wasn't about that cult.

Peri died because she wanted to give up her rapist to the police. The cult was only involved in the blackmail of it all. They very well could have not been and this still would have happened exactly the same.

Now the idea of a cult mirroring a real life group was exciting, and Frances and Kyle were characters worth introducing, but their purpose was nonexistent in the end, which doesn't sit well with me.

There is something tragic, though, about the way those two took everything and ran, probably to continue their religious plan elsewhere. Yet it again begs the question of why.

Devious Maids is failing at explaining why, exactly, these big bads do what they do, which takes some sense out of the whole equation.

Peter: It’s been over for twenty years.

🔗 permalink: It’s been over for twenty years.

Peter was barely around and yet somehow found a way to stay around for a while. Marisol and him getting married came out of left field, especially to someone who was holding out some hope for Jesse to be the one.

But if Peter sticks around, he has to at least gain some kind of personality along the way.

I don't think he's shown any emotions outside of serious and upset, which are quite similar if you think about it.

And what could Marisol have gotten up to if she was stolen from the church on her wedding day? All she wants is to get married to a guy and have it stick. Is that really too much to ask?

What did you think of the finale and the flash forward? Which character are you most excited to see next season? What was your favorite part of this season, and what could have been executed better? Let us know what you think below!

Carmen finds out about Hugh's reputation and fills Dani in. She doesn't believe Carmen until Hugh offers her some wine, which she switches out with his. Hugh passes out so Dani calls Carmen to help her figure out what to do. They tie him up and call Rosie so they could question him about Peri's murder. He admits to raping her, and other women, but he denies killing Peri. He says he was blackmailed by the Circle to be part of their gang. The night of Peri's party, she catches him raping another woman and promises to tell everyone. Ben promised to take care of it and then mentions a woman before getting a heart attack.

Fiona tells Zoila that she saw Kyle back in the house next door. But when Zoila goes to check if it's true, she discovers Spencer hiding out there instead. Zoila hides him and Kill Face there, until Fiona realizes that she actually saw Spencer next door. She fires Zoila, who runs out to warn Spencer that he will get caught. Kill Face doesn't believe that Zoila didn't snitch and wants to kill her when he and Spence get into an a physical fight. Kill Face has a gun in his hand and Spence ends up getting shot.

Rosie gets Peri's tape from Zoila, who got it from Kyle in the mail. She connects that the woman Hugh was talking about was his daughter, Gail. She was the one who covered up his indiscretions and later killed Peri to keep her quiet. Rosie gets Gail to confess, with the police listening in and arresting her for the murder. When everything dies down, Rosie tells Spencer that she's pregnant with his child.

Adrian and Evelyn play a game of chicken, both pushing the other to see who cracks first and admits that they don't want a divorce. They manage to hold out until the papers are signed, only to end up having sex. Once Adrian realizes that Gail was arrested and Evelyn was no longer with James, he offers to rip up their divorce papers.

Genevieve goes to therapy, realizing that she needs closure. She talks to Peter and tells him that he shouldn't push Marisol away. He listens and proposes to Marisol at Evelyn's party. Zoila returns to work for Genevieve, just in time to see her leave on a date with Lori.

There is a one year flash forward to Peter and Marisol's wedding, but the bride is a no show. Marisol leaves a note saying she's sorry but the window is broken and it looks like someone may have taken her out of the room.

That ending changed everything that I thought I knew.

Devious Maids Season 4 Episode 9 had Marisol finding out some dark secrets from Genevieve's past, Carmen and Dani facing off once again, and Zoila's cover finally being blown.

Genevieve: Book Club is only an excuse for us to day drink.

🔗 permalink: Book Club is only an excuse for us to day drink.

Evelyn has also been a favorite of mine, but she stood out even more throughout this entire episode.

First she realized that while James is a great guy, he isn't a great guy for her. Evelyn thrives on drama, and even though Adrian isn't the best choice, he makes more sense.

I don't think Evelyn going back to Adrian would be the best choice for her, but in the end, it's what she wants that matters.

And the wisdom she shared with Marisol was spot on. Evelyn knew that Peter wasn't the one for Marisol, no matter how much she tried to convince herself of that.

If we are lucky, Evelyn will continue to share her pearls of wisdom with Marisol because she needs them if she wants to figure out this relationship mess that she's in.

Adrian, on the other hand, might benefit from listening in on one of the sermons that James conducts.

Instead of trying to figure out what about him drove his wife away, all he wants is to tear down the guy who makes her happy.

And how is lying to Gale any better? He is going to have to deal with her as well as Evelyn when he sets that plan in motion.

You never tell a woman you love her unless it's true, Adrian.

Fiona: I expect you come running when I call.

Zoila: Like a dog?

🔗 permalink: Like a dog?

Zoila had this coming for a while.

But it looks like her lie was the least of her problems, what with Kyle and Frances disappearing off the face of the earth.

I have to admit, Kyle was really growing on me, and this wasn't fair. He had the potential to stick around, but he was just a mommy's boy.

There is a sliver of faith, though, that he might surprise both Zoila and us in the finale. Something tells me he wants to be the guy she knows him to be.

As for Zoila, at least she dumped the guy she's been struggling being with for a while. Although her boss doesn't exactly make her life any easier.

At least all Kyle wanted to do was make her happy and run a cult with his mom. But what guy doesn't have flaws?

Zoila: Well no one is more unknown than you.

🔗 permalink: Well no one is more unknown than you.

Marisol's shining moment was her interaction with Genevieve.

I wasn't prepared for that director to be the rapist, but it seems like the show is trying to mirror real life.

All clues pointed to Peter, which made that twist even that much more intense.

It all adds up. I was wondering why he kept popping up this season. But It's the Dani part that has me a little worried. I may not be a fan of hers, but she doesn't deserve anything that guy might try with her.

Even with the way she treated Carmen, Dani is still just a girl and being used like Peri and Genevieve were is just not okay.

Dani: I thought you would be jealous.

Carmen: I am, but I’m also happy for you.

🔗 permalink: I am, but I’m also happy for you.

Rosie neglecting Miguel was something I didn't even think of, but Spence and her were aiming for Bad Parents Of The Year!

Rosie almost got Tucker killed, yet she continues to dig even when she comes up short.

Everything will fall into her lap soon but that doesn't help Miguel, who just wants his mother around for him.

As for Spence, forget getting out of prison, keep him in there! This inside the prison sneak peek is only getting better. Kill Face deserves a show of his own after all the stunts he's pulled.

Why do we need Spence on the outside when he could entertain us with his prison plays and escape plans that will most likely fail?

Both Rosie and Spence have been the downfalls of this season, with this rescue mission not being interesting enough from their end to sell us. Spence could move somewhere and I wouldn't even notice at this point.

What do you think of Spence in prison vs Spence in the real world? Is there a chance for Dani to escape that creepy director? How much do you love and support Genevieve after this episode? Tell us what you think below.

Zoila's secret is revealed when Frances meets Fiona, which pushes her to tell Kyle the truth too. But when she tries to get Kyle to help her with Spencer, he spills the details to his mother and they move in the middle of them night. They end up taking Peri's tapes with them, something that Zoila almost found earlier in the episode.

Marisol is confused why Peter isn't answering her phone calls, only to visit his office and find out the news from his assistant. Turns out Peter found out about her cheating moment and left for Hawaii without her. Marisol confronts Jesse, hoping to find out who knew about their affair. Jesse reveals that Genevieve may have connected the thoughts, which pushes Marisol to confront her during her book club. Genevieve then calls her back and reveals what happened when she cheated on Peter. A friend in the business and her were having drinks when she woke up the next day in bed with him. The guy in the business turns out to be the director of Marisol's book to movie project.

Carmen is focused on getting the part of herself in Marisol's movie, something that she has to compete with Dani for. She doesn't get the audition when she realizes that Dani set her up and pretended to forgive her. Dani gets a callback, which Carmen helps to prepare her for. When Dani visits the office to auditon again, she is alone with the director which probably means that he will tryto make a move on her now that they are alone.

Rosie is still focused on getting Spence out of jail but he breaks her out of it when Miguel starts acting out so he could get his mother's attention. Rosie doesn't want to let her husband stay in prison, so she asks Zoila to get the tape of Peri confessing her rape but those plans fall through. Meanwhile Spence discovers that his prison mate has built a tunnel and is planning to escape soon.

Adrian is still trying to dig up something on James, but when he fails he shifts his plan around. Seeing how jealous Evelyn gets when she thinks he's with Gail has him turning the tables on her. Evelyn on the other hand is growing bored with James because of how unexciting and by the rules he seems to be.

Things just got messier.

Devious Maids Season 4 Episode 8 had Rosie struggling to tell Spence the truth, Marisol trying to forget her past indiscretion, and Zoila just focused on getting Kyle out of the house.

Carmen: I wouldn’t want to be in your shoes. Or Marisol’s, those are just ugly.

🔗 permalink: I wouldn’t want to be in your shoes. Or Marisol’s, those are just ugly.

Marisol choosing Peter makes no sense to me at all.

When you have someone like Jesse vying for your attention, you choose him in a second!

The cheating route is overused and boring at this point, but if you are going to use it, use it right. Marisol choosing Jesse would have been more believable since we know those two together more than we know Peter and Marisol.

And watching Peter trying to win Marisol back this time around was like watching paint dry. He didn't really sell himself enough, and he's lucky Genevieve visited him when she did.

If anyone is worth rooting for in this situation, it has to be Genevieve. Not only did she hit on Jesse when she got the chance, she planned it perfectly so that Peter found out the truth without realizing how well he was played.

Now, with Dani not caring much for Jesse, and Peter thinking that Marisol is still cheating on him, we might still have a chance to see those two getting back together.

It wouldn't be ideal but it would add up more than anything else they've tried with those two. Jesse with Dani was forced to look like more than it really was, and Peter never put Marisol first. From day one we saw him putting his career first while she focused on her book and on her breakup with Jessie.

Kyle: Well we didn’t have a choice when I broke up with my mother.

🔗 permalink: Well we didn’t have a choice when I broke up with my mother.

Zoila made the right choice dumping Kyle, but I will still miss seeing him as much as we did when they were together.

They aren't exactly over, but between him moving back in with his mother and Zoila's boss coming back to her house, that relationship is a crash and burn waiting to happen.

Zoila created this mess herself, but it's still hard to watch Fiona come back to ruin this perfect illusion that was created.

Zoila was finally getting some sort of happiness out of her life, even if it was from a drawn out lie. Now she is backed into a corner where she is dating her neighbor and risking the truth blowing up in her face.

This clearly won't end well, but that doesn't mean watching that will be any easier. Maybe her brand new best friend and guest in her daydreams could help her out.

I'm not sure exactly how Adrian could turn this into something better than it is, but money helps everything. Plus, Adrian is one for schemes, and he could probably plot something to keep this whole thing a secret from Kyle and his vengeful mother.

Adrian: Instead she comes back triumphant, with a black man between her legs.

🔗 permalink: Instead she comes back triumphant with a black man between her legs.

Rosie and Spence got old a while ago, but this was a new level of too much.

Rosie didn't tell Spence about Tucker, and the longer she waits the worst this will get. Spence deserves to know what she found out before someone else tells him.

But the wedding and the conjugal visit were a waste of time that could have been used to find out more about Peri.

Peter is clearly the guy who raped her, right?

That camera work was done that way for a reason, so if Peter really is that guy, his plot just got much more interesting.

Peri's back story wasn't what I expected, but it makes sense why she didn't tell Spence. She isn't exactly missed, but this definitely had me me feeling bad for her in this situation.

Hopefully this pushes Rosie to confess to Spencer because he might help her. This whole plan of hers is meant to get him out, yet he is never included in any of this. Maybe if she told him more about what she was doing, she would get to the finish line faster.

Rosie: Spence Westmore, will you marry me again?

🔗 permalink: Spence Westmore, will you marry me again?

Carmen, once again, has fallen into that dreaded hole that she has to crawl out of when Dani appears in her life.

I was never a fan of Dani, but lying to Carmen about her father dying was a new low for her.

It doesn't register for me why she did that, only to then call him and tell him not to show up because Carmen doesn't want to see him. What exactly does Dani get from this whole manipulation tactic she has going on?

And how long will Dani last this time around?

Her presence doesn't last for long, but the impact she has carries over once she is gone. Carmen, at this point in her life, is better off without Dani, yet she somehow always gets sucked back into that drama.

Do you think Dani is a good presence for Carmen to have around? What do you think about Peter now that he is trying to change only to see his girlfriend with someone else? Is there anything for Adrian to find out about James and his past? Tell us what you think below.

Marisol is caught between Jesse and Peter, which gets even more complicated when both men fight for her. Peter comes back looking to make things better, and Jesse doesn't get fazed when Dani comes back to town. Jesse tells Dani that he slept with someone else, only for her not to care at all. Jesse goes back to fight for Marisol but he gets shot down in favor of Peter.

Peter on the other hand gets a visit from Genevieve, who plants the seed of doubt in his mind. He starts to think that Marisol is cheating on him and he gets his assistant to make sure.

Rosie is focused on telling Spence the truth about Tucker and his paternity. But she isn't sure if the guard at the prison is spying on them for the circle so she tries to find a way to talk to Spence in private. That answer turns out to be a conjugal visit, right after they remarry in the prison. Spence doesn't find out the truth about Tucker's father but Rosie does. After Sharon leaves the circle when she realizes she was lied to about getting a career out of it, she tells Rosie the truth about what happened.

Some guy in the music industry raped Peri and she ended up pregnant. Rosie doesn't get his name but we are led to believe that is could be Peter.

Zoila isn't very happy living with Kyle anymore so she gets help from his mother. They burn her curtains, which makes Kyle realize how much his mother means to him and he moves back. Everything seems fine, until Fiona moves into her house and Zoila realizes that she is only the maid now.

Carmen gets stuck between Adrian and Evelyn in their house of war. Adrian figures out how Evelyn found her way back into their house and fires Carmen for helping her. He then rehires Dani to get back at her, but things only get worse from there. Dani tells Carmen that she found her father but he was dead, something she actually lied about.

The best part of the episode though, had to be Evelyn moving back in with Adrian only to bring her boyfriend James with her as a form of revenge.

Evelyn: You see my husband, a horse’s ass named Adrian.

There is a lot that happened, but the best part of this episode (Yes, there were two best parts. Deal with it!), was the blooming friendship between Adrian and Zoila.

Zoila is still dealing with too much, but Adrian was a pleasant surprise. They need to get together every week to talk about their problems, or at least after she figures out her daydreams of him.

Adrian and Zoila would be interesting as friends, but anything more would be going overboard. Sometimes women and men can be friends without anything more happening.

Zoila and Genevieve patching up their friendship was unexpected but a long time coming. They aren't boss/employee anymore, but that might be the best part.

Their friendship needs to heal, and taking it slow might be the best way to do that.

As for Kyle, things are too good to be true right now. I am waiting for his cult past to catch up with him. Or maybe Zoila's real job?

Either of the two will stir something up, and at this point I don't know what I want to happen there.

Kyle isn't anything special to Zoila yet, but I wouldn't mind him sticking around.

Zoila: Is that how your mother does it?

Marisol once again made a decision that might not be as clear cut as she thought in the moment.

Peter and her might not be in the best place right now, but sleeping with someone else isn't the way to go.

Even though this Jesse/Marisol reunion was obvious from the start, I don't see how this could work for them. They started it up again through cheating, and that never ends well.

Jesse would have been better off strictly helping Rosie figure out what was happening with the circle cult, but that must not have been enough for him.

Marisol is the weak link for me. I want to root for her, but I can't when she makes choices based off of relationships.

I don't know what she thinks will happen with her and Peter, but cheating is never the answer.

Maybe if Marisol started to help Evelyn more, she might grow out of this funk where she can't decide on her romantic future.

Evelyn: I’ve always been a lush and you know it.

Rosie has too much to deal with, and now she has this secret on top of it all?

Tucker not being Spence's son might mean that this cult stuff went even farther back than we thought.

I thought this was a recent creation, but this could have started before the show even started. This celebrity aimed Scientology cult is just getting started, but Tucker is the key somehow.

Rosie is getting close to it but, I don't think we will know for sure what Tucker means to all of this, for a while.

Spence getting stabbed on purpose to save his son was nice, but it still doesn't make him interesting enough.

Rosie trying to save him from prison is noble, but don't we need to care about him ourselves? And if we don't, how much does this story matter to us, really?

Genevieve: He’s absolute adorable and so what if he’s gay.

🔗 permalink: He’s absolute adorable and so what if he’s gay.

Carmen and her new man (whose name I still haven't learned) had a hectic time together.

I am not sure if I am more angry at him for calling Dani, or for Carmen not figuring out that dating a guy who spends so much time on his computer isn't a good idea.

This Dani plot was supposed to die down, but now it's starting back up again. Why? This didn't work the first time around, so how will this play out better?

This guy from Carmen's past will probably come around and make it even worse. We didn't find out too much about him. That means he won't stick around for long if he does appear on the show.

What do you think of this Carmen mess? Are you excited to see Dani back in action again? How much do you still care about Spence and the Tucker of it all?
