How can a new teaser for 1923 ramp up excitement for the past when the present-day Yellowstone ranch faces near destruction?

A funny thing has happened in the two years since 1923 first aired: the Dutton fight for their land on Yellowstone has been lost.

Well, almost.

I’m writing this post before the Yellowstone Season 5 (or series) finale, so maybe there is a sliver of happiness to be had. At this point, I seriously doubt it.

(Paramount+/Screenshot)

Sure, there is some hope that a spinoff or continuation of the Dutton saga with Beth and Rip at the wheel will renew the family legacy in some way.

And Kayce’s cockamamie tax scheme to save the land — after already selling off their prized stock, all of their horses, and a family history of wagons and whatnot — could buy them another reprieve.

(Lo Smith/Paramount+)

But the reality is that the Duttons’ century-long fight to save their land loses its luster in prequels when the result is so depressing.

We still don’t know the certainty of John Dutton’s ancestral line, which was one of the fun things about watching 1883 and 1923.

And the love stories have been off the hook.

On 1883, young Elsa Dutton had two swoon-worthy romances during her tragically short life span.

Spencer and Alexandra met under circumstances normally found in romance novels. They traversed the globe, running from human, animal, and natural enemies, trying to tear them apart.

(Trae Patton/Paramount+)

Jack and Elizabeth’s story is a little more grounded but not without its perils. They cling to each other for dear life while their worlds fall apart around them.

Of course, that leads us to Beth and Rip, the de facto fiery romance on Yellowstone, and Kayce and Monica, a more level-headed family-style romantic partnership.

So you’ll have to excuse me when I lose my excitement seeing teasers for 1923 that put the battle for land front and center again. That battle likely can’t be won, at least not as the family imagined it at that time.

Much to Taylor Sheridan’s dismay, it wasn’t the search for or battle for the land that made either the 1883 or 1923 appointment TV — it was the emotional connections promising to keep the fire burning for generations to come.

(Lo Smith/Paramount+)

Here’s the official synopsis for 1923 Season 2:

A cruel winter brings new challenges and unfinished business to Jacob and Cara back at the Dutton ranch.

With harsh conditions and adversaries threatening to end the Dutton legacy, Spencer embarks on an arduous journey home, racing against time to save his family in Montana.

Meanwhile, Alexandra sets off on her own harrowing trans-Atlantic journey to find Spencer and reclaim their love.

So, Spencer and Alexandra, the fiery light that swept over us all while watching 1923 Season 1, will be separated for a good portion of the season, most likely the whole season, with them running into each others arms to close out the series.

If there’s one thing that these short seasons (and short series) rob us of, it’s the joy of experiencing a relationship’s development over time.

Even worse, Sheridan’s shows are soap operas in their truest sense, where star-crossed lovers fight against forces pushing them to their limits and often keeping them out of the arms that give them life.

(Trae Patton/Paramount+)

On Yellowstone, John Dutton, the last man to care as deeply about the land as the family who claimed it, is dead.

No matter how that story ends, the wars waged by previous Dutton generations don’t hold as much weight anymore. The way of life they lived and fought for is at its end.

That really sucks the energy out of the past. Maybe the final eight episodes of 1923 will prove me wrong.

If Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 has done anything, it’s shown that my optimism is a pipe dream. So, I’ll remain cynical and enjoy the elation of my incorrect assumptions should they come to that.

Here’s the official teaser:

Are you still excited for 1923, or has Yellowstone’s ending tarnished the past as much as the present?

Let me know what you’re thinking in the comments below.

1923 Season 2 premieres on Paramount+ on Sunday, February 23.

Our Landman Season 1 Episode 6 review explores Cooper's fate, Tommy's justice, and the chaos driving this powerful and emotional story.

“Beware the Second Beating” takes Landman to a new level of tension, irony, and emotional complexity.

Landman Season 1 Episode 6 doesn’t just drop us into the aftermath of Cooper’s brutal beating — it pulls us deeper into its characters’ messy, often contradictory lives.

Let’s unpack it all.

(Emerson Miller/Paramount+)

Cooper Is The Fragile Core of Landman

Cooper’s recovery looms large over this episode. His injuries — a collapsed lung and head trauma — are brutal, but they’re just the surface of what he’s facing.

The aftermath brings out the best and worst in those around him. For Tommy, it’s a stark reminder of how ill-suited Cooper is for this business. His despair isn’t just about the injuries; it’s about the kind of world he’s allowed his son to enter.

But let’s not ignore Cooper’s role in his own predicament.

His kindness — his need to help people like Ariana — is what makes him special. It’s also what makes him vulnerable. When Tommy says his son “just isn’t mean enough” to survive in the rough and tumble world of the oil business, it’s as much an admission of pride as it is fear.

Cooper’s humanity shines in a world that often feels devoid of it, but it also paints a target on his back. The question isn’t just whether Cooper can survive this life — it’s whether he should.

What’s Behind Rebecca’s Frost?

(Emerson Miller/Paramount+)

Rebecca’s icy professionalism takes center stage when she confronts the widows, and it’s hard to miss how poorly she handles the situation.

Her disdain for Ariana’s questions practically drips from her, but there’s a moment that raises eyebrows: when Nate calls her out for her claim that she’s “done this more times than she can count.”

It’s a classic overplay, but does it reveal something deeper?

Rebecca’s demeanor is cold, sure, but it feels like armor. Does she envy the widows she faces — their love, their connection, the compassion they receive, even in tragedy?

Something about her actions feels performative — as if she’s hiding something. Maybe it’s regret for what she’s sacrificed to climb the corporate ladder. Maybe it’s loneliness.

Whatever it is, Rebecca’s veneer is cracking, and it makes you wonder how long she can keep up the act.

Ariana’s Strength in the Chaos

(Emerson Miller/Paramount+)

Ariana’s refusal to sign the bereavement check is one of the episode’s most powerful moments.

Rebecca’s bulldozing tactics would have crushed many, but Ariana’s resilience shines through. The irony is hard to ignore — Cooper’s unavailability forces her to stand firm, but their connection gives her the strength to do so.

Would she have held her ground if he’d been there to comfort her? Probably, but Rebecca’s persistence might have made it a much tougher fight.

Her dynamic with Cooper is fascinating.

They’re two people who’ve found each other in the wake of immense loss, and there’s a spark there, even if neither of them is ready to admit it.

Tommy certainly sees it, and his warning to Cooper about taking things slow is less about control and more about wisdom. He knows Ariana is searching for a lifeline, and he doesn’t want his son to become that at the cost of his own well-being.

Angela’s Rare Moment of Self-Awareness

(Emerson Miller/Paramount+)

Angela’s chaotic energy is on full display, but this episode gives us something rare: a moment of self-awareness. When she calls Tommy and admits she feels like a “whore,” it’s both a confession and a revelation.

Angela recognizes that many of her romantic pursuits are transactional — built on what she can gain rather than what she can give. And maybe that’s why her love for Tommy feels so real to her. He has nothing to offer her, no wealth, no status, no strings.

It’s not about what she can get but what she feels. That kind of clarity is rare for Angela, and it adds a poignant layer to her character.

Of course, Angela being Angela, this moment of vulnerability was fleeting. Her relief at keeping the Bentley during her legal face-off with Victor’s lawyers is almost comical, but it’s also telling.

Angela clings to the things she can hold onto — cars, quips, bravado — because the things she really wants, like love and stability, always seem just out of reach.

Tommy and Monty Are Worlds Apart

(Emerson Miller/Paramount+)

Tommy’s visit to Monty’s mansion is a study in contrasts.

Monty’s theory about green initiatives being a manipulation tactic by oil-producing nations is as cynical as it is plausible, and Tommy doesn’t necessarily disagree. He’s not here to debate its morality; he just wants to know what’s coming.

Monty’s life is a monument to detachment. His relationship with Cami (the criminally underutilized Demi Moore) feels more like an employer-employee dynamic than a marriage, and his approach to parenting is more about appearances than love.

For Tommy, it’s a glimpse into a world he could never inhabit — and wouldn’t want to. While Monty lives in luxury, Tommy clings to his rough-hewn optimism. His wisecracks about Angela suggest he’s bracing for another divorce, but deep down, he wants them to work.

He’s an optimistic pessimist — a man who hopes for the best while preparing for the worst.

Monty’s life may be easier, but it’s colder, and Tommy’s not the kind of man to trade warmth for convenience, no matter how tempting it might seem.

Vigilante Justice, Landman Style

(Lauren ìLoî Smith/Paramount+)

Tommy’s revenge for Cooper’s beating is brutal, calculated, and undeniably satisfying. The scene where he confronts Manuel and his crew is typical Landman: gritty, raw, and deeply personal.

But this isn’t just about revenge — it’s about drawing a line in the sand. Tommy’s speech about taking “30 years of your life” isn’t just a threat; it’s a declaration. This is his world, and he won’t let anyone tear it apart.

And yet, there’s a cost. Tommy’s escalating violence raises questions about how far he’s willing to go to protect his son — and at what point he risks losing himself in the process.

Dale’s comment about things getting “wild again” is a chilling reminder of just how dangerous this world is. Tommy knows it, and the question lingers: can he save Cooper without destroying himself?

Layers of Irony and Humanity

(Emerson Miller/Paramount+)

“Beware the Second Beating” is a masterclass in character-driven storytelling.

From Rebecca’s icy facade to Angela’s rare vulnerability and Tommy’s brutal sense of justice, every moment feels loaded with meaning.

The irony runs deep — Cooper’s fragility saves Ariana, Angela clings to Tommy because he has nothing to offer, and Tommy fights to protect a son who might be better off walking away.

This is another messy, human, and unflinchingly honest hour of Landman

It’s a world where survival often comes at a cost and love — whether for a son, a partner, or a Bentley — can be both a burden and a blessing.

Here’s hoping the characters can find a way to navigate the chaos without losing themselves in the process.

Think you know who the real villains of Christmas are? These misunderstood troublemakers might just surprise you!

Every great Christmas movie needs a villain to shake things up.

Whether they’re stealing presents, scaring kids, or just being plain greedy, these characters bring chaos to the holidays — and we love them for it.

But are they really as bad as they seem?

(20th Century Fox/Screenshot)

Some of them might just be misunderstood, acting out of loneliness, frustration, or even good intentions gone awry.

From mischievous misfits to sinister schemers, they add a little spice to all that holiday cheer.

Let’s take a closer look at the Christmas villains who might deserve a spot on the nice list –eventually.

The Grinch — How the Grinch Stole Christmas

(CBS/Screenshot)

The Grinch from How the Grinch Stole Christmas is the ultimate Christmas villain — or is he?

Living alone on Mount Crumpit, he’s not exactly thrilled by the noisy, over-the-top holiday celebrations in Whoville.

But who wouldn’t feel a little bitter after years of isolation and being an outcast? His plan to steal Christmas is certainly devious, but it’s driven by loneliness more than malice.

Once his heart grows three sizes, it’s clear the Grinch just needed a little holiday spirit—and maybe a few friends

Ebenezer Scrooge — A Christmas Carol

(Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer/Screenshot)

Ebenezer Scrooge from A Christmas Carol might be the poster child for grumpy holiday villains, but his story is one of redemption.

Sure, he starts out as a miser who hates Christmas and everyone who enjoys it, but can you blame him?

His harsh attitude comes from years of pain and loss, and his obsession with money is his way of controlling a world that’s let him down. B

y the end, Scrooge proves that even the coldest hearts can thaw with a little help from the Christmas spirit — and a few ghosts.

Jack Frost — Rise of the Guardians

(Paramount Pictures, DreamWorks SKG/Screenshot)

Jack Frost from Rise of the Guardians might seem like a cold-hearted villain, but he’s more misunderstood than malicious.

As the personification of winter, he’s often blamed for harsh weather and icy mishaps, but he’s just doing his job.

Beneath his frosty exterior is someone longing for recognition and connection, especially in a world that celebrates warmth and cheer.

Sure, his antics can be a little over the top, but deep down, Jack just wants to be part of the holiday magic — and maybe melt a heart or two along the way.

Oogie Boogie — The Nightmare Before Christmas

(Touchstone Pictures/Screenshot)

Oogie Boogie from The Nightmare Before Christmas is the villain who thrives on fear, but is he really the worst guy in Halloween Town?

Sure, he’s got a creepy lair and a penchant for gambling with lives, but his entire existence is built around scaring people — it’s literally his job.

Maybe he’s just bitter because Jack Skellington gets all the glory while Oogie’s left in the shadows.

Underneath all that burlap and bravado, Oogie might just be a misunderstood monster looking for a little recognition.

The Wet Bandits — Home Alone

(20th Century Fox/Screenshot)

The Wet Bandits from Home Alone are hardly criminal masterminds, but their bumbling antics make them more laughable than truly menacing.

Sure, breaking into houses during the holidays is a rotten move, but maybe Harry and Marv were just trying to get by in a tough world.

Their obsession with robbing the McCallister home might stem from sheer desperation — or plain stupidity.

Either way, they’re more victims of Kevin’s diabolical traps than actual villains, proving that sometimes, crime really doesn’t pay.

Krampus — Krampus

(Universal Pictures/Screenshot)

Krampus (Krampus) is the dark side of Christmas, punishing those who’ve forgotten the true spirit of the season.

But is he really a villain — or just a misunderstood enforcer of holiday justice? With his eerie appearance and terrifying minions, Krampus certainly knows how to scare people into appreciating what they have.

But his mission is less about destruction and more about restoring balance to a season that’s lost its way.

Perhaps he’s not evil — just the harsh lesson some people need to remember what Christmas is all about.

Burgermeister Meisterburger — Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town

(ABC/Screenshot)

Burgermeister Meisterburger from Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town is the grumpy ruler who bans toys, but maybe he’s not as heartless as he seems.

His toy ban might stem from a deeper fear of change or a need to control his chaotic town.

Sure, he comes off as a tyrant, but deep down, perhaps he just doesn’t understand the joy that toys bring.

A little kindness and a well-placed gift could melt even his frosty exterior — after all, no one’s beyond redemption during the holidays.

Frank Cross — Scrooged

(Paramount Pictures/Screenshot)

Frank Cross from Scrooged is a modern-day Scrooge wrapped in corporate greed and cynicism.

As a cutthroat TV executive, his disdain for Christmas and everyone around him makes him seem like the ultimate holiday villain.

But Frank’s bitterness comes from a life of loneliness and misplaced priorities, and his tough exterior hides a man who’s lost touch with what really matters.

With a little help from some unconventional ghosts, Frank discovers that even the most jaded hearts can be reignited with holiday spirit.

Hans Gruber — Die Hard

(20th Century Fox/Screenshot)

Hans Gruber from Die Hard might be a thief and a hostage-taker, but let’s face it — he’s one of the most charismatic villains in Christmas movie history.

Sure, stealing $640 million in bearer bonds isn’t exactly in the holiday spirit, but Hans approaches his heist with sophistication, wit, and an air of refinement.

Perhaps he’s not evil, just ambitious — trying to make his mark in the corporate world in his own unconventional way.

And let’s be honest, with his smooth charm, he’s the kind of villain you almost hate to root against.

The Bumble — Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

(CBS/Screenshot)

The Bumble from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer might look like a terrifying monster, but deep down, he’s just a misunderstood misfit.

Living in isolation on the icy tundra, the poor guy probably never had a chance to make friends — or get dental care.

Sure, he scared Rudolph and his pals, but it’s not like anyone ever tried to get to know him.

Once Yukon Cornelius and Hermey the Elf give him a little kindness (and a tooth extraction), the Bumble proves he’s more cuddly than cruel.

The Snow Miser — The Year Without a Santa Claus

(ABC/Screenshot)

The Snow Miser from The Year Without a Santa Claus may come off as a frosty troublemaker, but he’s really just a guy who loves a good snow day.

Sure, he bickers endlessly with his brother, the Heat Miser, but what sibling doesn’t?

His frosty demeanor hides a playful side, and his over-the-top antics are more mischievous than malicious.

With a little nudge (and maybe some warm cocoa), the Snow Miser proves he’s not such a cold-hearted villain after all.

The Heat Miser — The Year Without a Santa Claus

(ABC/Screenshot)

The Heat Miser from The Year Without a Santa Claus is fiery, stubborn, and more than a little dramatic, but is he really a villain?

He’s just doing his job, keeping the world warm while balancing his frosty brother’s chilly tendencies.

Sure, his temper flares when things don’t go his way, but deep down, he’s a family guy with a competitive streak.

Maybe all the Heat Miser needs is a little compromise — and a Christmas miracle — to show he’s not so bad after all.

Winter Warlock — Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town

(ABC/Screenshot)

The Winter Warlock from Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town starts off as a fearsome recluse, using his icy powers to keep people away.

But his villainous reputation is mostly due to loneliness and isolation.

When Kris Kringle shows him a little kindness, the Winter Warlock’s frozen heart begins to melt, revealing a gentle soul beneath the bluster.

With his newfound warmth, he proves that even the frostiest of villains can embrace the holiday spirit — and maybe even help save Christmas.

Mr. Potter — It’s a Wonderful Life

(RKO Radio Pictures/Screenshot)

Mr. Potter from It’s a Wonderful Life is the embodiment of greed and selfishness, but is there more to his story?

As the ultimate antagonist to George Bailey’s generosity, Potter’s ruthless pursuit of power stems from his unwavering belief in control and order.

Maybe he sees himself as the only one capable of maintaining stability in Bedford Falls, even if his methods are cruel.

While his actions are far from noble, there’s a chance that under all that cynicism, Potter just doesn’t know how to embrace the joy of the season — or the people around him.

Cousin Eddie — National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

(Warner Bros./Screenshot)

Cousin Eddie from National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation might seem like the ultimate holiday nightmare, but underneath his eccentric (and often gross) behavior lies a heart of gold.

Sure, his lack of boundaries and over-the-top antics can test anyone’s patience, but Eddie’s loyalty to family is unwavering.

He’s clueless, not malicious, and his awkward attempts to help often bring unintended hilarity.

Eddie may be rough around the edges, but his unique charm makes him a misunderstood misfit we can’t help but love — kind of like the holiday season itself.

Days of Our Lives' Doug sendoff demonstrates that the show still has what it takes after 60 years. How can it move forward now?

It’s been over a week since Doug’s funeral on Days of Our Lives, and people are still talking about it.

You wouldn’t think that a heartbreaking event like the death of a legacy character would be the most exciting news to hit the soap in a while, but I get it.

Days of Our Lives‘ Doug sendoff included several legacy characters whose stays were all too short, and the way so many Salemites bonded together was a throwback to the show’s glory days.

Doug’s Sendoff And Its Aftermath Were All About Family

Days of Our Lives has suffered the same problem as the rest of the television landscape: there is less focus on families and their issues in favor of crime and medical drama.

But during Doug’s funeral week, everything changed, and even now, there are some remnants of the show that once was.

Characters like Steven, Marie, and Liz fit right back in even though they hadn’t visited Salem in many years, and with few exceptions, their presence gave Juile comfort in the hours and days after Doug’s sudden death.

These scenes were a treat for long-time viewers, but their significance went far beyond resurrecting characters who once had a central spot on the show.

There was a whole different vibe during Doug’s funeral week.

Even though the circumstances were sad, there were plenty of opportunities for humor, drama between people who had held grudges for many years, and families coming together to celebrate the life of one who had been a beacon of light for them for many years.

(Peacock/Screenshot)

My favorite was a 60-something Steven continuing to go in and out through windows like he’s one of the teenagers on Girl Meets World.

Julie’s exasperation with him doing that provided some much-needed laughter during these otherwise sad scenes.

The family moments were so strong that I hated that the Days of Our Lives sendoff for Doug was over so quickly and that most of the family went home after only a few episodes.

Still, some of the family is still here, and Doug’s legacy continues. Julie’s loved ones are concerned about how she will get through her first Christmas without her husband by her side.

Fan Reaction to Days of Our Lives Doug Sendoff Shows The Importance of Building On Legacy

Doug’s sendoff during the first week of December wasn’t just about him.

It was timed with a celebration of Days of Our Lives’ 15,000th episode, and if Bill Hayes was still with us, those legacy characters who returned for his funeral probably would have been invited back for another reason.

The time capsule story — and the subsequent theft of Alice’s diamond necklace — would have gone on regardless, and we might have had the same family vibes that we felt around Doug’s funeral.

There’s a reason the reaction to Days of Our Lives Doug sendoff is far more positive than anything else on the show, and it has to do with legacy.

When this soap began, it was about the Horton family. Alice and Tom were adjusting to an empty nest while worrying about their wayward granddaughter.

(This whole thing where everyone assumed Steven took the necklace because people can’t change is silly, considering that Julie was a shoplifter in the pilot episode and Doug was a con artist hired later to trick her!)

(Peacock/Screenshot)

The Horton family has not been central enough to Days of Our Lives recently.

While it’s important to establish new characters and families as time passes, the show doesn’t work as well without the Horton family and its descendants being the main characters.

The town of Salem itself is supposed to be the legacy of Tom and Alice Horton. Yet, the Hortons themselves have virtually been erased, with many of them off-screen and newer families becoming more prominent.

I don’t want the Hortons to be the ONLY family in town. I’m thrilled there are diverse families now, such as the Carvers and Hernandezes.

But eliminating most of the Hortons was never a good idea. We have a scant few in town now, which is why I hope JJ, Jack, and Jennifer stay and that Sarah and Maggie embrace their connection to the Hortons at some point.

Can Days of Our Lives Chart A New Path Forward?

After only a few days, Marie and Steven left town and life slowly got back to normal… normal for Salem, anyway.

Days of Our Lives must ensure its veteran characters get strong stories.

Julie’s story with “Doug III” is a good start, though I’m burned out on relatives moving in who turn out to be evil.

Plus, we just had this stupid Fake Abigail story, so we don’t need Doug’s grandson to follow in Doug’s original con artist footsteps.

But we need to continue having people support Julie now that Days of Our Lives Doug sendoff is over.

Additionally, Days of Our Lives must return to the other foundational elements that made it so popular for many years, especially romances.

Get rid of the race to the bedroom and the endless love triangles. Johnny has never had a story that doesn’t involve one, and this latest one is stupid.

We need to fix the Johnson family while we’re at it.

Steve and Jack are brothers but virtually never spend any time together. Steve and Kayla are one of the last remaining classic couples but seem to get siloed into individual storylines more often than not.

Finally, younger characters should turn to older ones for advice and support.

It’s beautiful that the last scene Drake Hogestyn filmed was John supporting Tate; we should have more scenes like that so that new characters don’t feel so disconnected from everything that came before.

Gabi is there for JJ after he learns of Doug's death, but there is danger ahead on Days of Our Lives during the week of 12-09-24
(Peacock/Screenshot)

Days of Our Lives has had a writing regime change, with new material beginning to air in April. Hopefully, the new head writers will consider some of these ideas.

Days of Our Lives has lasted for 60 years because the family connections and romantic storylines resonated with viewers. It shouldn’t take a heartbreaking event like a real-life death for the soap to go back to basics.

Over to you, Days of Our Lives fanatics. Do you agree that Days of Our Lives’ Doug sendoff was so successful because it had everything that once made this show must-see TV?

I hate the CEO war stories, and this last one between Philip and Xander is one of the silliest.

I have to keep reminding myself that laws in Salem aren’t the same as in the real world to accept the idea that a letter (forged or not) saying that Victor was sorry he didn’t leave Philip his company is a viable reason to contest him not doing so.

Still, Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 12-16-24 suggest that there MIGHT be a twist in this storyline, though whether that’s true remains to be seen.

Justin is determined to get someone to testify on Xander's side after updating Sarah and Xander on Days of Our Lives during the week of 12-16-24
(Peacock/Screenshot)

As The Court Battle Looms, Will Justin Get Anyone To Support Xander?

For some reason, the court case seems to depend on witnesses discussing who they would prefer as CEO, which is not how these things should work.

Take those recommendations to the Titan board! The judge should only consider whether that letter proves Victor intended to leave the company to Philip rather than Xander.

Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 12-16-24 have Justin asking Maggie to testify.

Maggie may not want to get involved between Victor’s two sons, but she certainly has insight into what Victor most wanted, so she might be willing to testify to that.

As an aside, It’s a good thing Victor didn’t also debate leaving the company to Bo despite his coma because Bo will be back on-screen in May, and his story needs to be about him and Hope, not any side nonsense about these company wars.

Is Philip the rightful heir to Titan on Days of Our Lives during the week of 12-16-24?

Days of Our Lives Spoilers For The Week of 12-16-24 Say That Philip and Xander Learn Who Titan’s True Heir Is

Here it is: an ambiguous spoiler that could point to a twist.

I’m probably reading the spoiler too literally. Since the court battle is coming up, chances are that the judge will make their ruling and someone will be feeling like throwing a tantrum over it.

Still, it would be an awesome plot twist if it turned out that neither Xander nor Philip is the rightful heir and that Maggie is given the 50% of the company that’s supposed to go to one of them so that she has 100% control over Titan.

I don’t know how that could be when the will says that 50% goes to Victor’s secret son, but I’d love it anyway.

It would be the equivalent of a parent deciding no one gets the toy that the kids are fighting over, and I’d be here for that.

Belle presses Sarah to tell the truth on Days of Our Lives during the week of 12-16-24
(Peacock/Screenshot)

Belle Presses Sarah To Tell The Truth… About What?

This is one of the more intriguing Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 12-16-24 because it’s unclear what it’s about.

Belle is set to be Philip’s new lawyer, but it’s unlikely that Sarah will testify against her husband’s interests to help Philip be victorious in court. That would be a ridiculous expectation.

However, Sarah is aware of what Xander did to Brady when he thought Brady was responsible for Sarah’s accident, and Sarah isn’t likely to want to admit to those criminal activities in court. (I’d think she could invoke her right not to testify against her spouse here, but again, this is Salem.)

Thus, this is the most likely candidate for what Belle is pressuring Sarah about.

On Days of Our Lives during the week of 12-16-24, Stephanie hides her true feelings, but for whom?
(Peacock/Screenshot)

Love Triangle Alert: Days of Our Lives Spoilers for The Week of 12-16-24 Say That Stephanie Hides Her True Feelings

Stephanie’s been hiding her true feelings about Alex for a while, so if that’s what this spoiler is about, it’s not much of one at all.

However, it seems like she could be falling for Philip again. If not, what was with the overused trope of Philip coming to the door in nothing but a towel?

Stephanie will probably try to keep things professional with Philip while also being jealous if she finds out about the rumors that Alex slept with Joy.

Philip will be working with Belle, so we might also have a love triangle between two of Philip’s exes. At least Stephanie hasn’t blown up her marriage several times over by sleeping with Philip!

Belle and Shawn will eventually find their way back to each other now that both are staying in Salem, so we don’t need it complicated with another Belle/Philip romp in the hay.

According To Days Of Our Lives Spoilers For The Week of 12-16-24, Felicity Will Finally Learn About Her Big Sister

Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 12-16-24 promise that Felicity will learn the truth about Cat.

While I don’t have much use for most of this story, I’m interested in Felicity’s reaction. Felicity is the first character with Downs Syndrome to appear on Days of Our Lives, so I always enjoy it when she’s on.

I’m curious how Felicity will respond to this news and whether anyone will try to act as if she’s too fragile to receive or understand it because of her condition.

JJ and Gabi get closer on Days of Our Lives during the week of 12-16-24
(Peacock/Screenshot)

How Soon Will JJ And Gabi Become A Couple Again?

Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 12-16-24 suggest that all the pieces are being put into place for JJ and Gabi to move back toward romance.

I was never a fan of this couple before.

JJ was moved quickly into a romance with Gabi after Paige died, which irked me, and Gabi called Lani having sex with him when he was too drunk to be able to legally consent “cheating” and “blackout sex.”

Gross.

Sadly, there don’t seem to be any plans to resurrect Paige, and the writing was already on the wall that these two would be pushed back together when Clyde assumed that JJ was Gabi’s “new hubby.”

Gabi can be comforting when she wants to be, and she saved JJ’s life when he was suicidal.

(Peacock/Screenshot)

Additionally, Cherie Jimenez’s Gabi seems to be somewhat softer and less unbalanced than Camila Banus’ was, and we have new writers coming soon who might change the character’s direction.

So maybe this will work out better this time.

Meanwhile, this week, Gabi will realize she’s been insensitive to JJ’s true feelings, setting the stage for a reconciliation.

Of course, there’s one person who won’t like it: Julie.

Julie is upset that JJ is interested in Gabi on Days of Our Lives during the week of 12-16-24
(Peacock/Screenshot)

JJ Gets An Earful From Julie About Gabi

Julie just buried her husband and is busy believing that her alleged grandson is exactly who he says he is, but Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 12-16-24 say she’ll have time to lecture JJ about Gabi.

One of many reasons Doug’s death is so heartbreaking is that he knew how to get Julie to calm down when she went too far — without him, she’s liable to go too far, and it’ll be hard for anyone to reason with her.

JJ has never put up with anyone telling him how to live his life.

He and Jennifer still butt heads to this day when he’s in his early 30s, the same as they did when he was a teenager because she tries too hard to keep him safe, so he won’t be likely to listen to Julie even if he is more patient because she’s grieving Doug’s death.

Brady and Ava's date does not go as planned on Days of Our Lives during the week of 12-16-24
(Peacock/Screenshot)

Ava and Brady’s Date Does Not Go As Planned

To nobody’s surprise, Ava and Brady’s first date will be a disaster.

First dates in Salem usually are, especially when Kristen is eager to throw a monkey wrench into things.

Ava is not afraid of Kristen, unlike Brady’s previous girlfriends, and that aggravates Kristen to no end, so she’ll be determined to make her afraid.

She also wants Brady for herself and will stop at nothing to get him, so the only question here is what Kristen will do to mess things up.

Blue Bloods ended its fourteen-year run tonight, and it’s hard to believe that it’s not coming back next week or next year.

Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 18 was an intense episode that somehow felt like every other story in this beautiful series.

If it had to end, this was how to do it, and the final scene came close to my dream ending. But it also made the point that there COULD have been many more stories to tell if only CBS had found a way to keep it on the air.

Losing Badillo Was Expected, Yet Sad

Rumors swirled for months about Badillo’s death in Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 18, and by last week, it was clear it had to be Badillo.

No one else made any sense once the photos of the funeral sequence were released. All the Reagans were in attendance and so was Mayor Chase.

If we had to lose someone, I’d rather it be a secondary character like Badillo. It would have been a horrible ending if any of the Reagans had died or been severely injured.

This story also gave Eddie one last chance to shine. She was fierce both in trying to save Badillo and her reaction after learning he was gone.

Eddie: Can you do something for me?

Danny: Anything.

Eddie: Then you don’t baby me and you don’t sideline me and you don’t tell me it’s too hard or that it’s too personal and you let me help.

Danny: Why would I baby one of the toughest cops I’ve ever known?

The opening scene started like any other episode, but as soon as Eddie and Badillo got that call, my heart jumped into my throat, and I KNEW, without a shadow of a doubt, that Badillo’s fate was sealed.

That almost made these scenes worse because I was waiting for the exact moment of his death, and when Eddie called for him, and he didn’t answer, it broke my heart even more than if it had been a surprise.

Despite The Danger, The Reagans Were Mostly Unafraid On Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 18

Erin was afraid she would lose another brother, and Frank mentioned Joe’s death, but for the most part, it was business as usual for the Reagans.

I wasn’t sure whether to admire their bravery or whether it cheapened the threat to all cops that Danny, Jamie, and Joe didn’t seem to have much concern about their own safety, even after visiting Eddie in the hospital.

In some ways, though, it added to the suspense of this final hour.

Although I knew it wasn’t going to end with a terrible tragedy for the Reagans, I kept expecting someone to come around a corner with a gun, especially when Jamie and Joe were walking out to their cars after interrogating Emilio’s girlfriend.

I didn’t like how Emilio looked at Frank as he was being led away near the end of the episode.

That was one of the things that made this feel more like a season finale than a series finale. That scene seemed like a set-up for a future episode that will never come.

Frank’s Confrontation Of An Elderly Gangster Was The Most Chilling Part Of The Hour

After Mayor Chase gave Frank the keys to the city, Frank used his newfound power to try to convince a lifer to give up the location of his son, who was the gangster guilty of shooting the mayor, leading to some scenes that made a shiver go up my spine.

These scenes included just Frank and the prisoner (special guest Edward James Olmo) in a room. They were reminiscent of Frank’s confrontation with Sonny Malevsky after learning he was responsible for Joe Reagan’s death on Blue Bloods Season 1 Episode 22.

(Courtesy of CBS)

This confrontation was quieter but no less intense.

At first, it seemed like a waste of Frank’s time. The prisoner wasn’t going to budge and was convinced that he was the true hero, protecting his son from the evil cops who wanted him to ruin the relationship by ratting him out.

But boy, did Frank have an ace up his sleeve. The way he used his feelings about his own son’s death to get Lorenzo to budge was nothing short of masterful.

Frank: I had a son who was killed, by the police actually. And if before it happened, someone said to me, here’s your choice: we kill him now or he spends the rest of his life in prison. You know what? I wouldn’t blink. I would be at that prison every chance I got with hamburgers for us and a deck of cards so we could spend some time together. And I’d be thrilled to be there. Cause I know the cold dark of the other choice. I live with it every single day.

What a beautiful tribute to the 14 years of missing Joe that we’ve all lived through with Frank and the rest of the Reagan family.

That was the perfect way to wrap up that tragic storyline.

(CBS/Michael Parmalee)

Throughout the entire series, the family has never lost their sense of grief that Joe cannot join them at any more Reagan family dinners, and meeting Joe Hill made it worse in some ways.

They will never fully recover from that death. As Frank’s beautiful speech on Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 18 points out, he will always miss his son.

But Joe would probably be proud that in some way, he helped save the city from the gang’s violent rampage.

That doesn’t make it any better that he’s gone, but Frank certainly honored his memory during this story.

The Amelia Story Was The Weakest Part Of Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 18

I’m loathe to criticize any part of the finale. I’m so grateful we had this final episode and that CBS gave Blue Bloods this final half-season to wrap things up that I don’t want to admit it was less than perfect.

However, the Amelia story confused me.

Amelia was terrified when she called Eddie, but by the time Danny finally tracked her down, she didn’t seem scared of anybody but the cops.

I guess she could have had a bit of Stockholm Syndrome, but it came off as weird.

This was a kid who was so traumatized after witnessing her father kill her mother that she didn’t speak for three days, and this was the second time her dad had attempted to kidnap her.

Yet after that initial phone call, she took it all in stride.

Frank sitting at a table in an office looking thoughtful on Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 18
(CBS/Michael Parmalee)

Additionally, it felt like Carlos Ramirez gave up too quickly.

A few words from Danny about how fathers should lead by example did it. Ramirez sent Amelia upstairs with Baez, made a half-hearted attempt at suicide, and then surrendered peacefully.

Considering he blamed Danny for his not being in Amelia’s life and had kidnapped her while his gang was shooting public servants all over the city, that solution seemed all too easy.

This is why Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 18 should have been two hours.

There was too much to fit into the final hour, so this story was shortchanged so that they could get to the final wrap-up.

Blue Bloods’ Happy Ending Was Perfect, Yet It Didn’t Feel Different Than Any Other Episode

After all the cases were resolved, Badillo’s funeral and the final family dinner were the only remaining events.

These scenes could just as easily have been part of a season finale as a series finale.

I’m thrilled that Eddie and Jamie are having a baby, but I wish we could have the chance to get to know them. And I LOVE the tacit acknowledgment that Joe Hill is a full-fledged family member now.

But if Blue Bloods were returning, Season 15 could begin after Eddie’s baby was born so that she has to adjust to a new partner and to being a mother who is working as a cop, and nothing else would fundamentally change.

A silver-haired woman approaches Danny in the squad room while Baez watches on Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 18
(CBS/Michael Parmalee)

The final family dinner wasn’t much different from any other family dinner, either. Danny is always in a hurry to get to the food while everyone catches up with each other and expresses gratitude for the time they spend together.

Although that doesn’t sound exciting or final, the family all together — including a returning Jack Reagan and Nicky — was the absolute perfect way to end this series.

The family dinners were the heart of this series, so a huge one was the right note to end on.

I had hoped the final lines would be a toast to the entire Reagan family, and while that didn’t happen, Frank’s expression of gratitude and pride in his family came pretty damn close.

After the credits rolled, I didn’t cry because of the episode’s events (even though Badillo’s death was sad). I cried because that was the last family dinner I’d get to share with the Reagans, not counting reruns streaming on Paramount+.

This Fire Country Season 3 Episode 8 review breaks down the excitement of zombie fires and the probies' first day on the job.

Well, folks, that’s a wrap for 2024. Fire Country, along with most of our favorite shows, is now on fall break. As usual, the show left us with plenty of cliffhangers.

Fire Country Season 3 Episode 8 review analyzes its events and aftermath and what we might expect when the show returns in 2025.

Like most Bruckheimer productions, Fire Country Season 3 Episode 8 had plenty of action, heart-pounding terror, insubordination, and personal angst to tide us over through the holiday break.

Audrey and Bode look for an escape
(Sergei Bachlakov/CBS )

And several of our favorite firefighters were left in mortal danger. Could we perhaps see the demise and exit of any of the Fire Country cast? We haven’t received word of anyone leaving the show.

Three seasons in, and we still have the same core characters, minus a few small roles from supporting characters like Cara, Freddy, and Rebecca.

The show has been building up to these events since the start, pushing each character through life predicaments that eventually affected how each of them reacted during the Fire Country Season 3 fall finale.

As a finale goes, this one was as good as any I’ve seen in the 2024 season, and it’s certainly miles better than the delayed seasonal start and shortened ten-episode second season.

And yet, despite how well the show did setting up its seasonal break so fans would stay in a state of intrigue and torment, there was a lot of UGH and OMG really’s from the episode itself. Really, the whole season.

Starting with the typical drama surrounding Gabriela. Go ahead and weigh in real quick, Fanatics, on the first exchange between Gabriela and Jake. It’s hard for this reviewer to decide which person is right.

Gabriela looks upset
(Eric Milner/CBS)

While Jake feels they should tell Bode about their drunken hook-up, Gabriela thinks that it’s none of his business, since they are not together.

But like Jake said, Bode is his best friend and Gabreila is his ex-obsession. However, like Gabs said, she was with Jake before Bode. So should they tell Bode or let it stay a drunken episode of no consequence?

Although this reviewer’s twisted mind could totally see that one lapse of judgement resulting in an unplanned pregnancy for Gabriela and Jake, who’s still tortured by the loss of Cara and the recent decision of Cara’s daughter to move in with her real father instead of Jake.

At first, Gabriela seemed to be doing better this episode, less hell-bent on beating herself to death and doing risky crap. Like father, like daughter.

(Eric Milner/CBS)

And then, we saw her mental status deteriorate, resulting in her disobeying direct orders from a superior, breaking the law, and being fully insubordinate. How many times does she get to yell at her boss (this time, it was Jake instead of Sharon) before she faces disciplinary action?

I’m on her side for helping out the desperate mother and child who ran out of gas while trying to evacuate. Their vehicle was the only home they had left, and it didn’t seem fair that they’d lose everything again.

Truthfully, this viewer probably would have done the same thing by siphoning the gas from the car parked in front of a fire hydrant. Criminal charges be damned.

But I can’t condone the rest of her behavior.

She seems to have a major problem separating her past from her job, often letting her personal experiences affect her performance. Something she frequently scolds Bode and her father for doing.

It was freaking amazing seeing Jake put Gabriela in her place. Her hissy fit response was typical of her self-indulgent pity party, where she wants everyone to feel bad for her situation despite the fact that where she’s at in life is all her own doing.

And then, as usual, she acts all melodramatically, stripping off her fire gear and walking off in the middle of a fire call. Only to end up meeting a wall of flames as she wandered aimlessly down the road.

(Eric Milner/CBS)

She says she’s done but done with what? Her actions are as clear as any resignation letter. Could we be saying goodbye to Gabriela Perez when the show returns?

Or maybe the Fire Country Season 3 finale is the end of the line for inmate firefighter Manny Perez. We’ve seen Manny experience a full 360 of his life since the first season.

He was once the captain of the Three Rock prison camp, mentoring Bode post-prison so he could be successful once released, only to flip places by Fire Country Season 3.

While Bode is a free man and now an official member of CalFire since Captain Camden Casey passed him in fire training in Fire Country Season 3 Episode 7, Manny is now a firefighter inmate at Three Rock, with Eve as Captain.

Seeing Manny falling so far from his original redemption has been hard, but it’s been a great way to explore more of his character. Unfortunately, going back to prison seems to have dulled Manny’s righteousness.

He’s acted out of character several times during Fire Country Season 3, almost as if he’s given up on a future due to his setback.

Manny works a fire scene
(Sergei Bachlakov/CBS)

Manny went from being my favorite character to an annoyance this season as he tries to make repairs with Gabriela while simultaneously expressing his self-anger at anyone around him.

He struggled in this episode between being a supportive first saw firefighter and being a sullen inmate pissed about doing time. Seeing him talk down Cole when he almost had words with Eve’s cousin was great.

Unfortunately, Manny is unlikely to be as willing to follow Cole’s advice about not going out on his own to find Gabriela.

The show ended with a cliffhanger involving him and Three Rock on the Edwards ranch, miles away from where Gabriela went missing. Due to her tantrum, she walked straight into a fire zone.

Manny just requested a parole hearing. Going AWOL during a fire call, even if it’s because his daughter is in danger, isn’t going to look good. Will the second half of Fire Country Season 3 have Manny stuck in prison longer for an “attempted escape,” or could Perez be the show’s first regular cast member to exit?

How did everyone like their first visit to the Edwards ranch? Geez, there was a lot of tension between the Edwards patriarch and everyone around him.

Elroy Edwards commands attention
(Sergei Bachlakov/CBS )

Elroy Edwards was exactly as we expected when we found out Eve hadn’t talked to her family in six years. After meeting them, I understand why there’s discord there.

Seeing her go to bat for her crew against her father’s prejudice was great. He’s a stubborn old man who thinks Eve chose firefighting and the Leones over her family, both in the past and presently.

If you read our Fire Country Season 3 Episode 8 spoilers, I lamented how cool it would have been to see Eve on horseback, fighting fires. We saw her on horseback, so I half got my wish.

However, I’ll settle because it was so cool that she delivered a foal and had a moment with her dad.

But while she was playing rancher, she neglected her firefighting duties. Vince had to come out and check on things, ruining her progress. Elroy had multiple grievances against Vince and CFD.

Vince and Elroy watch the fire
(Eric Milner/CBS)

The two debated creating a backburn on the ranch to prevent the fire from spreading into Edgewater. Vince thought he had the authority to do it, even on private property. Elroy felt that he had the right to say no because it was his land.

Eve ended up between her blood family and her fire fam. She disappointed Elroy by siding with the job over her kin.

We have to wonder if her setting the fire was symbolic of burning her last bridge with her family. It was supposed to protect the ranch.

But shifting winds carried embers across the fire line and onto the barn, where the ranch hands had just put all the horses, including the new baby foal Eve had just delivered.

Eve and Elroy Edwards talk
(Eric Milner/CBS)

Eve wasn’t the only one whose plan to protect something backfired. Bode and Audrey went on a fire call, thinking they would only be doing preventative measures. Leave it to their luck to stumble upon a massive zombie fire.

Huh? That’s one way to add a unique twist to the typical zombie outbreak.

Show of hands: Before this episode, who had heard of a zombie fire or holdover fire? Not this TV fanatic, and I’m pretty sure I’ve seen every fire movie or series available.

It’s pretty gnarly but totally awesome, too.

How crazy would it be to have to face a fire that’s been burning underground for months to years? That sounds like some Tommy Lee Jones ’90s Volcano or the La Brea intro or something.

Bode’s a badass ex-convict, so it’s always a pleasure to see his softer side, from the teddy bear in his locker to the family portrait in his helmet to the near tears he had when he listened to the sob story of a local with a beautiful home and a dead wife.

Bode and Audrey make a plan
(Eric Milner/CBS)

Bode made a promise to save his house, and things seemed to be going well until James jinxed it by talking crap. Never test the universe with an early celebration, especially when it comes to fighting fires.

Sharon continued to issue orders to Leone and James to abandon the location and handle other fires. But the couple ignored her calls, freaking Momma Bear out.

Bode should face serious reprimand for ignoring direct orders. In his desperation to keep a promise and supposedly leave behind the old Bode, he put himself and Audrey in a very dangerous situation.

Does anyone else find it irritating that after Bode screwed up and put both of them at risk, he made a plan and tried to talk about how to save them like their being trapped wasn’t his fault?

As the fire consumed everything around them, James held onto Bode for literal life as they dove underwater to avoid the flames. And then the credits rolled.

Will Bode and Audrey’s first kiss be a mermaid breath of life as they share air? Will Audrey forgive Bode for putting her into the terrifying situation of getting burned alive or drowning because she couldn’t swim?

If they had left earlier, as she had wanted and as she had ordered, they would not have been trapped on all sides by a wall of flames.

My favorite part of the day was when Eve asked how to reason with a stubborn old man, and Sharon and Bode both shot ‘that’ look at Vince. Priceless! Is that a hint at Vince’s own father issues? Or are they calling him a stubborn old man?

And what was with this episode and people ignoring their radio calls? Does anyone else notice a theme where all the various scenes and people tend to focus on one narrative?

In Fire Country Season 3 Episode 7, subordinates lashed out at their superiors, which in real life would have resulted in numerous firefighters being dismissed from their stations.

Vince stands at his truck
(Sergei Bachlakov/CBS )

So, fanatics, what did you think of the Fire Country Season 3 fall finale? Are you excited for the show to return so we can get answers? Where do you hope the story goes from here?

What did you like about the episode? Hate? Is it better than previous episodes, which have been borderline daytime soap with basic or regurgitated storylines?

It's that time of year! Time to draw up that Christmas wish list and wonder what some of your "favorite" TV characters would want as well!

A Christmas wish list is usually a kid’s thing, but since we’re talking about fictional, completely made-up characters here, why not?

Have you ever thought about what some of your favorite TV characters might like for Christmas?

For some, it’s not too hard to imagine. Others are a little more tricky.

Joffrey Loves Pie
(HBO)

After all, no one thinks Cersei Lannister is pining for a Plantgem Garden in a Box unless it comes with seeds for Water Hemlock or Deadly Nightshade.

Regardless, it’s an interesting and fun thought experiment throughout the holiday season when everyone is going bonkers over Walmart parking spaces and fighting in the ‘Return’ lines.

M134 Minigun – Joffrey Baratheon – Game of Thrones

Joffrey Baratheon
(HBO)

I know what you’re all thinking: Joffrey Baratheon could have won the Game of Thrones if only he had something better than a crossbow and a “sweet, caring” disposition.

If anything, the last two seasons would have been much more entertaining than the crap fest David Benioff and DB Weiss delivered.

Joffrey was a terribly misunderstood character, and in modern times, his inclination for manic sadism and narcissistic rage is nothing a good middle school guidance counselor couldn’t fix. Throw in a minigun, and he becomes the penultimate redemption arc.

If you need a refresher course on this particular mini gun, Predator and Terminator 2 are fine examples of the destructive firepower this puppy is capable of dishing out.

Now, imagine such raw power in the hands of a gleefully grinning Joffrey Baratheon. Who needs a dragon when you can turn the Black Dread into an oozing, twitching sponge at a rate of up to 4,000 rounds per minute?

All Joffrey needed was the opportunity to show everyone what a just, fair, and benevolent king he could be, and with a minigun on his Christmas wish list, that goal was within reach.

Unfortunately, the powers that be deemed it not to be so. We got purple-faced, choking Joffrey instead of a demonic loon standing behind an M134. Oh well.

Jamie Fraser Blowup Doll – ‘Black’ Jack Randall – Outlander

Black Jack Randall - Outlander
(© 2014 Sony Pictures Television/Ed Miller)

Black Jack Randall is the Ramsay Bolton that Ramsay Bolton should have been — a far more believable sadist who eats, sleeps, and breathes the agony of others.

Randall’s lone flaw is his comprehensive obsession with Jamie Fraser, a man who unwittingly draws out Randall’s latent homosexuality and hatred.

Jamie brings out the best and worst in him in Outlander, with the ‘best’ being an inhuman desire to dismember every aspect of Jamie’s existence just to watch the man writhe within the cold agony of his losses.

But, even the likes of Black Jack are capable of getting into the spirit of the season, and nothing would satisfy Randall’s obsessive lust for Jamie Fraser than a blowup doll of the same name and likeness.

Of course, some of the devilish delights that Randall takes part in would likely deflate the poor doll, so he’ll have to alter some of his more violent and extreme practices.

Randall is nothing if not versatile in his demonic inclinations, however, and I’m sure he’ll figure out a delightful role for a Jamie blowup doll within his day-to-day demands.

A Metric Ton of Xanax – Carmy – The Bear

Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) on Season 3 of FX's The Bear
(Courtesy of FX )

There are few people in this world who need to calm the hell down more than Carmy of ‘The Bear’ fame. Granted, Carmy’s entire family is suffering from some degree of psychological neurasthenia.

Nor does he surround himself with the most mentally healthy people. Sydney is probably the calmest of the bunch (maybe Marcus), but she has her moments as well.

As a psychological comedy, The Bear and Carmy’s role probably stresses people out in the real world more than their jobs and home lives do.

When he’s not a walking example of PTSD, he’s dealing with self-inflicted perfectionism, repetition neurosis, or general anxiety. The guy simply needs a truckload of Xanax on his Christmas wish list in a bad way.

It will probably take a metric ton of the stuff to calm him the hell down and get him through a single day without projecting his own meltdown on those around him.

At least he has a singular focus: getting the restaurant up and running and making it a perpetually successful fine-dining business.

Now, if he could just calm the hell down for five minutes, he might not go into cardiac arrest before he hits the grand old age of 35.

Udemy 21-Day Charisma-Boosting Course – Geralt of Rivia – The Witcher

Liam Hemsworth as Geralt
(Netflix (Promo Screenshot))

Poor Geralt. The Witcher began with so much promise, with Henry Cavill in the lead role. But, alas, this too shall pass. There were signs in Season 2, but Season 3 really went downhill.

At some point, The Witcher became a show about everyone except for The Witcher. Now that the lead role doesn’t lead much of anything, Netflix went out and found a replacement actor with all the charisma and personality of a doorknob.

Liam Hemsworth is the less famous Hemsworth brother for a reason. He’s the guy you call when you need more side commentary in your B-movie. He’s the kid whose Christmas wish list is usually ignored in favor of hand-me-downs, clothes, and presents Chris Hemsworth doesn’t want.

Watching him in The Hunger Games makes people want to repeatedly slam their faces into hard, immovable objects. He would have been fine in The Vampire Diaries or One Tree Hill, but alas, Nepotism is alive and well in Hollywood.

Imagine taking every role Henry Cavill ever played and replacing him with Liam Hemsworth. Yeah, it’s that bad.

Geralt needs a charisma and personality-boosting course on his Christmas wish list this year to send The Witcher off on a good note by the end of Season 5.

A Controlling Stake in Milk Stork – Homelander – The Boys

Homelander in His Natural State - THE BOYS S04E04 - WISDOM OF THE AGES
(Prime Video (Youtube Screenshot))

For a megalomaniacal wannabe despot with ambitions for world domination, Homelander sure loves breast milk.

But why should Madelyn Stillwell have risked her life or Firecracker (her lactating replacement) risk her life when Homelander can simply add Milk Stork to his Christmas F***ed in the Head Wish List?

Milk Stork advertises itself as “breast milf shipping for moms and employers.” Well, Homelander isn’t exactly a mom, but he’s more than happy with Firecracker playing that role in The Boys.

Firecracker went the extra mile by taking medication to force her body into lactation mode, and, besides her unhealthy obsession with all things Homelander, she doesn’t have to.

Since its inception, Milk Stork has successfully shipped over 11 million ounces of breast milk. Now, Homelander can indulge in an unlimited supply, boosting Milk Stork sales and improving employment and deliveries in the process.

It’s all for the economy and Homelander’s insatiably infernal lust for the product of twin comfort melons. Firecracker may be an obsessed fan, but her calcium cannons can’t possibly keep up with the raging breast milk gluttony of a doofus like Homelander.

Motherly Advice from Norman Bates – Oz Cobb – The Penguin

Colin Farrell's Penguin
(Warner Bros. (Max screenshot))

Oz has a burgeoning empire to construct, a confused sidekick to tutor, and a hodgepodge of powerful families and gangs to deal with. The last thing he needs is a Christmas wish list unless it comes with crisp, clean stacks of $100 bills.

His overtly sexual connection with his mother is weird, for sure, and he’s had no end of trouble handling her mental mortification throughout the season.

What better expert to turn to than the legendary, infamous Norman Bates, who essentially turned his mother into a telepathic, everlasting corpse?

Norman Bates found a way to truly connect with his mother, and there’s no more adept person for Oz to turn to. Granted, Bates’ mother is basically beef jerky and dust in an old chair, but she’s still able to hang around and dominate his life in perpetuity.

Oz may believe that his entire life is an effort to live up to her frantic and delirious expectations, but he’ll never find out if he’s successful if she’s room temperature and pushing up daisies in Gotham Cemetery.

Salting and dehydration require time and preparation, and Oz can use both Bates’ advice and his methodology. The sooner the process begins, the sooner Oz can expand his ‘worthiness’ timeline in The Penguin.

Doberman Pinscher Pup – The Ghoul – Fallout

(Courtesy of Prime Video)

Georgia Dow released a therapist analysis of The Ghoul and his dog, lovingly denominated as ‘Dogmeat.’ Apparently, Dogmeat, a Belgian Malinois, is a sort of service dog for the Ghoul, reminding him of his humanity and, perhaps, his previous dog (from his human life), Roosevelt.

Herein lies the problem. Roosevelt was a blue merle border collie, while Dogmeat is a Belgian Malinois. Yawn. The Ghoul is a violent survivor in Fallout who cares very, very little about the lives and well-being of those around him.

At more than 200 years old, he’s done a fair job at keeping his head squarely on his shoulders and his feet moving forward. For that kind of lifestyle, a Belgian Malinois is like bringing a chihuahua to a knife fight with a hundred opponents.

Belgian Malinois were bred for herding and taking on hard work. They have stamina and agility, but Dobermans were bred for aggression, defense, and war. In fact, there’s a shrine for Doberman veterans at Marine Corps Base, Quantico.

They don’t build combat shrines for Border Collies and Belgian Malinois. The Ghoul’s Christmas wish list should have a Doberman pup on it. Maybe then, he wouldn’t have to stab the thing and heal it again.

In 293 episodes, Blue Bloods has never missed a family dinner.

Sometimes, the iconic dinner scenes were in a hotel, hospital, or diner, but there was guaranteed to be a scene where the Reagans got together, put all their problems aside, and spent time together as a family.

These Blue Bloods family dinners were as important to the cast and writers as they were to the audience, and they were a true labor of love, considering how much work went into them.

Family Dinner - Blue Bloods
(John Paul Filo/CBS)

The Iconic Blue Bloods Family Dinners Were The Intentional Centerpiece Of The Series

The family dinner scenes are more associated with Blue Bloods than any other aspect of the police/family drama, and that was on purpose.

From the beginning, late producer Leonard Goldberg wanted the dinners to be central because he intended the show to be about a family of cops, not just a police procedural.

It’s a sentiment that Tom Selleck so heartily endorsed that when the series drifted away from family scenes in the first few episodes, he put his foot down about what needed to happen if he was to continue with the project.

Thus, it makes sense that the first scene the actors filmed was the debut of the Reagan family dinner. Amazingly, the cast didn’t know each other well then; other than Bridget Moynahan and Donnie Wahlberg, they had all just met.

The fact that they were able to make the Reagans seem like a real family at that early juncture speaks not only to the actors’ talents but also to how dedicated they all were to making family front and center in their new show.

That first dinner took several hours to film, and the producers weren’t even sure what the final structure of the show would be, but everyone jumped in and did it, and the results were nothing short of brilliant.

The Blue Bloods Family Dinners Were The Longest Scenes To Film

Although it’s hard to tell from the finished product, the iconic dinner scenes were a huge commitment.

CBS’ special, Blue Bloods: Celebrating A Family Legacy, went behind the scenes at the dinner table. I knew that these scenes were long because I’d read about them elsewhere, but some of the other facts about them showed what a labor of love they were.

These scenes took at least three hours to shoot, with multiple takes where the Reagans had to appear to be eating the same food on their plates the same way.

(CBS / Patrick Harbron)

It’s a joke among the crew that Donnie Wahlberg is the only one who eats all the food during each scene.

When Danny said on Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 17 that he couldn’t wait for that pork chop, it didn’t seem that far off from how Wahlberg is in real life, judging from the anecdotes about him and food!

I was impressed by several things about how hard everyone works to make those Blue Bloods family dinners come alive.

The actors sit on soft cushions to ensure they’re high enough for the cameras and comfortable after sitting for long periods.

A chef is employed behind the scenes to ensure the food is edible (for those who choose to eat during multiple takes), and everyone stays for hours, doing the scene over and over so that there are enough different takes to edit into a polished, fun, and love-filled Reagan family dinner.

The actors have to find inventive ways to make it look like they’re eating, while behind the scenes, a prop person must refill each plate between takes and put food items in exactly the same location so nothing looks weird when they edit multiple takes together.

Talk about dedication!

Considering how much work went into them, these scenes were truly a labor of love.

It’s not surprising that they are usually the first thing people discuss when they’re asked why they love Blue Bloods. The family love shines through, and it’s hard to believe that it took so much work to get them on the air.

The Blue Bloods Family Dinner Scenes Allowed The Cast To Bond

Happy 250th Episode - Blue Bloods Season 12 Episode 16
(CBS / John Paul Filo)

In some ways, the family dinner scenes didn’t involve acting at all, at least not by Blue Bloods Season 14.

The cast got to know each other at these dinners, especially once Eddie (Vanessa Ray) became part of the family. According to multiple interviews, Ray and Donnie Wahlberg constantly joke around and crack everyone else up during the dinner scenes.

This is an amazing testimonial to how life imitates art. The fictional Reagans became like a real family off-screen the more time they spent together on these Blue Bloods family dinner scenes, and doubly so when you consider that they were all strangers when they filmed their first one.

Everyone on set embraced the family values at the center of the series, and it shows on-screen and off, which you can see in more detail below when Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg joined The Talk Today.

Despite the effort required for the Blue Bloods family dinner scenes, Tom Selleck mentioned on the special that there was never a bad one.

(Craig Blankenhorn/CBS)

We have done many articles about the cancelation of Blue Bloods, but nothing hits home as much as seeing the stars weep, knowing they will never be a part of the Reagan family dinners again.

When Selleck and Wahlberg joined The Talk today on CBS, they discussed filming their last dinner scene and what 14 years of friendship and on-set camaraderie have meant to them.

Selleck feels that the last dinner scene, whether it was the final scene filmed or not, was truly the last for them all. He said of filming the scene, “You know, we’re trying to stay professional and stay focused on the scene and ignore the fact that we’re all going to feel emotional.

“And when they said cut on the final take of the final dinner scene, it was silence…We all knew as soon as somebody spoke, we’re all going to lose it.”

Tonight, we will be in the same boat. Grab those tissues; we’re going to need them.

Over to you, Blue Bloods fanatics.

Did you love the Blue Bloods family dinners? Were you aware of how much effort went into them?

Hit the comments with your thoughts.

Blue Bloods’ series finale will air on CBS on December 13, 2024, at 10/9c and on Paramount+ on December 14.

When holiday cheer feels like too much, these offbeat Christmas movies are here to shake things up -- Grinch-approved!

Not every holiday season feels like gingerbread and joy. Sometimes, you need a break from the twinkling lights and nonstop carols.

Whether it’s a chaotic family gathering or just the stress of decking the halls, these Christmas movies offer a much-needed escape from the saccharine side of the season.

From dark comedies to twisted tales, these films remind us that not all holiday stories need a happy ending — or even a cheerful tone.

(ner Bros. Pictures/Screenshot)

These are the movies that make Santa’s naughty list look tame.

So grab some eggnog (or something stronger) and settle in for a lineup of films that bring holiday spirit with a side of mischief, mayhem, and maybe a little murder.

Are you ready?!

Krampus (2015)

(Universal Pictures/Screenshot)

For those who think the holidays need a little edge, Krampus brings the perfect blend of festive cheer and dark folklore.

This twisted Christmas tale follows a dysfunctional family who learns the hard way what happens when you lose your holiday spirit.

Enter Krampus, the shadow of Saint Nick, with his creepy helpers and a taste for punishment.

With its mix of humor, horror, and some surprisingly heartfelt moments, Krampus is the ultimate reminder to be careful what you wish for when the season feels a little too jolly.

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

(Touchstone Pictures/Screenshot)

Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas is a masterclass of merging the spooky with the Christmas festive.

Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town, stumbles into Christmas Town and becomes obsessed with bringing some holiday cheer to his own eerie world — naturally, with a macabre twist.

The film’s stop-motion animation is timeless, and Danny Elfman’s iconic soundtrack blends haunting melodies with yuletide whimsy.

Whether you see it as a Halloween movie or a Christmas one, it’s perfect for those moments when you want some holiday magic with a dash of the bizarre.

Die Hard (1988)

(20th Century Fox/Screenshot)

Is it a Christmas movie? The debate rages on, but there’s no denying that Die Hard brings high-octane action to the holiday season.

When John McClane takes on terrorists at his estranged wife’s office Christmas party, you get yuletide chaos at its finest.

And let’s not forget this film introduced us to Alan Rickman as the suave, sinister Hans Gruber, a villain so iconic he practically steals the show.

If explosions and one-liners like “Yippee-ki-yay, M***er F****r” are more your speed than caroling, Die Hard deserves a spot in your holiday rotation.

Gremlins (1984)

(Warner Bros. Pictures/Screenshot)

Who didn’t want a Mogwai for Christmas after watching Gremlins?

Cute, cuddly, and full of mystery, Gizmo melted hearts everywhere — until his mischievous offspring turned Kingston Falls into absolute chaos.

One of my all-time favorite movies, Gremlins perfectly balances humor and horror, making it a must-watch every holiday season.

And let’s talk about that unforgettable movie theater scene with Stripe and the gang — it’s pure cinematic gold.

Pair that with the Gremlins’ eerie carols and their outrageous bar antics, and you’ve got a twisted holiday classic that’s both nostalgic and wickedly fun. Just don’t feed them after midnight!

Trading Places (1983)

(Cinema Group Ventures, Paramount Pictures/Screenshot)

Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd deliver comedic gold in this sharp, satirical holiday classic.

Set against the backdrop of Christmas, Trading Places flips the lives of a street hustler and a privileged stockbroker in a twisted social experiment orchestrated by two devious millionaires.

Murphy’s quick wit and Aykroyd’s descent into festive chaos (drunken Santa with a salmon, anyone?) make for unforgettable laughs.

With its biting commentary on class and privilege wrapped in holiday chaos, this movie reminds us that sometimes the best gift is a dose of hilarity.

Better Watch Out (2016)

(Storm Vision Entertainment, Eclectik Vision, Best Medicine Productions/Screenshot)

This under-the-radar gem flips the traditional holiday horror formula on its head, delivering a darkly comedic and chilling ride.

When a babysitter takes on what seems like an ordinary night of watching her young charge, things spiral into chaos that’s as unsettling as it is unexpected.

Better Watch Out is packed with sharp twists, biting humor, and a sinister holiday aesthetic.

If you haven’t seen it yet, put it on your must-watch list. It’s a really fun movie that will make you forget about all the holiday cheer (in a good way)! You won’t be disappointed!

Black Christmas (1974)

( Film Funding Ltd. of Canada, August Films, Famous Players, Canadian Film Development Corporation (CFDC), Vision IV /Screenshot)

A chilling holiday horror that predates Halloween, Black Christmas set the standard for slasher films long before the genre became mainstream.

Set in a sorority house during the holiday season, this film takes the idea of Christmas cheer and flips it on its head, with a sense of dread creeping into every moment.

The tension is palpable as the unseen killer stalks the women, making it one of the first to truly blend the festive season with pure terror.

If you’re looking for a Christmas movie that’ll leave you unsettled, Black Christmas is a must-watch.

The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996)

( Forge, New Line Cinema /Screenshot)

This is not your average Christmas movie, and that’s exactly why it works.

Geena Davis stars as Samantha, a mild-mannered schoolteacher with amnesia who discovers she’s actually a badass assassin.

Throw in Samuel L. Jackson as her wisecracking sidekick, and you’ve got a holiday action film with sharp wit, explosive action, and a wintery backdrop.

The Christmas setting is just the icing on the cake — watching Samantha wield her newfound skills in snowy small-town America feels as festive as it is thrilling.

It’s the ultimate movie for when you want your holiday cheer served with a side of adrenaline.

Home Alone (1990)

(20th Century Fox/Screenshot)

An all-time holiday classic, Home Alone is the ultimate reminder that Christmas isn’t always about peace and quiet — especially when you’re an eight-year-old defending your house from bumbling burglars.

Kevin McCallister’s ingenious traps and quick wit make for endless laughs, while the heartfelt moments with his family bring warmth to the chaos.

Whether it’s the iconic scream scene or the charming holiday spirit that sneaks in between pranks, this film is pure nostalgic joy.

It’s a must-watch for a good laugh and a reminder of the magic of home during the holidays.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005)

(Warner Bros. Pictures/Screenshot)

This darkly comedic crime caper might not scream Christmas at first glance, but its yuletide backdrop adds an ironic twist to the chaos.

Starring Robert Downey Jr. as a small-time crook turned accidental actor and Val Kilmer as a no-nonsense private detective, the film weaves sharp wit with a noir mystery.

The Christmas setting offers plenty of sardonic humor, contrasting holiday cheer with Hollywood’s seedy underbelly.

If you’re looking for a Christmas movie with biting dialogue, clever twists, and a hefty dose of irreverence, this one’s a must-watch.

Bad Santa (2003)

(Columbia Pictures/Screenshot)

Billy Bob Thornton’s Willie T. Soke is not your typical holiday hero — or even antihero.

This irreverent dark comedy flips Christmas cheer on its head, serving up a raunchy, hilarious tale of a con man posing as a mall Santa to pull off heists.

With biting humor and a surprising amount of heart (thanks to the unlikely bond between Willie and a socially awkward kid), Bad Santa finds a way to mix holiday spirit with pure, unapologetic chaos.

It’s a perfect pick when you’re in the mood for a little more “naughty” than “nice.”

The Ref (1994)

(Touchstone Pictures/Screenshot)

If family holiday gatherings drive you up the wall, The Ref is the perfect cathartic comedy.

When a cat burglar (Denis Leary) takes a bickering couple (Kevin Spacey and Judy Davis) hostage on Christmas Eve, he quickly realizes he’s bitten off more than he can chew.

Packed with biting humor, sharp dialogue, and a hilariously dysfunctional holiday dinner, this film flips the holiday cheer script on its head.

It’s chaotic, irreverent, and a perfect reminder that maybe your family isn’t so bad after all.

Eyes Wide Shut (1999)

( Warner Brothers, Hobby Films, Pole Star /Screenshot)

This is not your average holiday film, but Eyes Wide Shut uses the Christmas season as a backdrop for its haunting exploration of desire, secrecy, and moral decay.

Stanley Kubrick directed the film, which stars Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. The glittering holiday lights contrast with the dark, unsettling themes, enhancing the eerie tone.

From the infamous masquerade ball to the strained intimacy between its lead characters, this psychological thriller is both hypnotic and unnerving.

It’s perfect for a holiday escape into something provocative and mysterious.

There’s Something in the Barn (2023)

( 74 Entertainment, Don Films, Charades /Screenshot)

If you’re looking for a fresh holiday movie with a twist, There’s Something in the Barn delivers laughs, scares, and a touch of festive chaos.

When a family moves into a rustic Norwegian farmhouse, they discover their holiday plans come with a side of mischief courtesy of a troublesome barn-dwelling creature.

Equal parts dark comedy and folklore-inspired horror, this film is a wild ride that keeps you guessing.

It’s a quirky, entertaining treat that’s perfect for anyone wanting to spice up their holiday movie rotation. And it stars Martin Starr from Tulsa King!

Jack Frost (1997)

(Moonstone Entertainment/Screenshot)

This isn’t your typical heartwarming snowman story. In Jack Frost, a convicted killer’s freak accident turns him into a homicidal snowman with a chilling sense of humor and a penchant for creative kills.

Yes, it’s ridiculous, but that’s part of its charm.

With its over-the-top premise and gleefully campy execution, this film is perfect when you need a laugh — and maybe a reminder that not all holiday snowmen are as sweet as Frosty.

This frosty nightmare delivers if you’re in the mood for something outrageous.

Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale (2010)

(Oscilloscope Pictures/Screenshot)

This Finnish gem is like no other Christmas movie you’ve seen. Rare Exports reimagines Santa Claus not as a jolly gift-giver but as a dark, mythological figure with a sinister edge.

When a group of hunters in the snowy wilderness uncovers what they believe is the “real Santa,” things take a chilling turn.

Blending folklore with horror and dark humor, this film is both eerie and enchanting, making it perfect for anyone tired of the usual holiday fluff.

It’s a holiday tale that dares to ask: What if Santa was the stuff of nightmares?

A Christmas Horror Story (2015)

(Copperheart Entertainment/Screenshot)

This anthology horror flick weaves together multiple chilling tales set on Christmas Eve, proving that holiday cheer and terror can share the same night.

From vengeful spirits to a demonic Krampus, the film offers a unique twist on classic holiday legends.

Plus, who doesn’t love William Shatner as the boozy radio DJ narrating the chaos?

If you’re in the mood for holiday frights with a side of festive gore, this one’s a must-watch for horror lovers looking to spice up their Christmas season.

Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984)

(TriStar Pictures/Screenshot)

Nothing says holiday cheer quite like a killer Santa on the loose!

Silent Night, Deadly Night flips the festive season on its head with a chilling tale of a traumatized man who dons the red suit for all the wrong reasons.

This slasher cult classic serves up gruesome kills and dark humor against the backdrop of snow-covered streets and twinkling lights.

It’s the perfect antidote for anyone tired of saccharine Christmas tales — just don’t watch it with the kids.

Dead End (2003)

(Jean-Baptiste Andrea, Fabrice Canepa /Screenshot)

This is one of those hidden gems that never got the recognition it deserved but absolutely delivers.

A family road trip on Christmas Eve turns into a surreal, nightmarish journey when they take a shortcut through the woods — and trust me, it’s a mistake they won’t forget.

The atmosphere is perfectly eerie, blending dark humor with psychological horror that keeps you guessing. It’s creepy, unexpected, and oddly compelling.

I stumbled upon this movie years ago, and it instantly became a favorite. If you love mind-bending thrillers with a holiday twist, Dead End is a must-watch.

Catch Me If You Can (2002)

(DreamWorks SKG/Screenshot)

Another of my all-time favorites, Catch Me If You Can is an absolute must-watch.

Steven Spielberg brings the true story of con artist Frank Abagnale Jr. to life with incredible flair, anchored by Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks in career-defining roles.

The film’s Christmas backdrop adds a bittersweet touch, highlighting Frank’s yearning for family amid his whirlwind of lies and deception.

It’s sharp, stylish, and surprisingly heartwarming — a perfect break from the sugary cheer of most holiday movies. If you haven’t seen it yet, trust me, you’re in for a treat!

Watch Catch Me If You Can Online

Hook (1991)

(TriStar Pictures/Screenshot)

This one holds a special place in my heart. Hook is pure magic, blending the timeless story of Peter Pan with Robin Williams’ unmatched charm.

Williams brings a grown-up Peter back to Neverland, where he reconnects with his inner child and battles the delightfully dastardly Captain Hook, played by the iconic Dustin Hoffman.

It’s a heartfelt reminder of the joy and wonder we sometimes lose as adults, and the holiday setting adds an extra sprinkle of whimsy.

Sweet, adventurous, and full of heart, Hook is the perfect escape when you need to feel like a kid again.

Green Book (2018)

(Universal Pictures/Screenshot)

Christmas may not be central to Green Book, but the holiday season serves as a backdrop for this heartwarming road trip drama.

Following the unlikely friendship between a working-class Italian-American bouncer, Tony Lip, and a refined Black pianist, Dr. Don Shirley, the film navigates themes of prejudice, class, and camaraderie with charm and humor.

Set during their journey through the racially segregated South, Green Book culminates in a touching Christmas Eve reunion, offering a poignant reminder that even amidst challenges, kindness and understanding can shine through.

It’s a soulful pick for when you need a little perspective with your holiday cheer.

The Ice Harvest (2005)

(Focus Features/Screenshot)

Set against the bleak backdrop of a snow-covered Christmas Eve, The Ice Harvest blends dark comedy and crime for a truly twisted holiday tale. John

Cusack stars as a mob lawyer who attempts to pull off a heist along with his scheming accomplice (Billy Bob Thornton). But as the night unravels, so does their plan, with betrayals and chaos lurking around every corner.

This movie is perfect for those who like their Christmas cheer spiked with cynicism and a dash of noir.

It’s wickedly clever and full of sharp twists — definitely not your typical feel-good holiday flick.

Watch Ice Harvest Online

Mean Girls (2004)

(Paramount Pictures/Screenshot)

Christmas with Mean Girls isn’t about mistletoe and eggnog — it’s about the unforgettable Plastics and their hilariously dysfunctional holiday spirit.

Who can forget the iconic “Jingle Bell Rock” performance, complete with questionable choreography and Regina George’s eye-roll-inducing sass?

This film brings biting humor to the holidays, showcasing the ridiculous drama of high school cliques wrapped in tinsel and topped with a tiara.

It’s the perfect pick when you need a laugh and a reminder that the holidays don’t have to be perfect to be memorable.

Watch Mean Girls Online

Silent Night (2021)

(Marv Films/Screenshot)

If you think your family gatherings are tense, Silent Night takes holiday dysfunction to apocalyptic levels.

This darkly comedic drama follows a group of friends and family as they celebrate what may be their last Christmas together — because the world is ending.

With sharp dialogue, a haunting atmosphere, and a chilling twist, this film will leave you questioning what you’d do in their shoes.

It’s a bleak but gripping alternative to your typical holiday fare, offering equal parts heart and devastation.

The Apartment (1960)

(Mirisch Corporation/Screenshot)

For a holiday classic with a bittersweet twist, The Apartment delivers a perfect mix of charm and melancholy.

Jack Lemmon shines as a lonely office worker who loans out his apartment to philandering bosses, only to fall for Shirley MacLaine’s Fran, an elevator operator with her own heartbreaks.

Set during Christmas, the film’s subtle humor and emotional depth make it a timeless favorite.

It reminds us that the holidays aren’t just about joy — they’re about finding connection, even in unexpected places.

Batman Returns (1992)

(Warner Bros./Screenshot)

Christmas in Gotham was never going to be a Hallmark movie, and Batman Returns proves it.

Tim Burton’s darkly stylish sequel transforms the holiday season into a backdrop for chaos, with Catwoman’s seductive acrobatics, the Penguin’s grotesque schemes, and Bruce Wayne’s tortured soul all taking center stage.

The snowy streets, shimmering lights, and twisted festivities create an unforgettable aesthetic, blending holiday cheer with Gotham’s signature brooding atmosphere.

If you’re in the mood for some yuletide vengeance and a dose of Michelle Pfeiffer’s iconic Catwoman, this one’s a Christmas gift you won’t regret unwrapping.

The Perfect Antidote to Holiday Overload

(74 Entertainment, Don Films, Charades/Screenshot)

Not every holiday movie needs Santa’s approval — or yours, for that matter. This list proves there’s more to the season than mistletoe and miracles.

Whether it’s a creepy snowman, a heist gone wrong, or some seriously dark holiday humor, these films offer a fresh perspective on Christmas chaos.

So the next time you’re feeling more “bah humbug” than holly jolly, grab your coziest blanket or your favorite snack and dive into one of these unconventional holiday hits.
