The CW has revealed its 2012-13 schedule ahead of this morning’s upfront presentation.

Perhaps most notably, Supernatural moves to Wednesdays at 9 p.m. following new comic book series Arrow. America’s Next Top Model receives a demotion to Supernatural‘s old slot, Fridays at 8 p.m.

Meanwhile, Hart of Dixie is moving from Mondays at 9 p.m. to Tuesdays at 8 p.m. where it will lead into the new medical drama Emily Owens, M.D. (formerly called First Cut), starring Mamie Gummer.

Beauty and the Beast won the time slot lottery, scoring the Thursday, 9 p.m. position after The Vampire Diaries. The spot was vacated when The Secret Circle was added to the dreaded list of cancelled shows.

A firing frenzy has overtaken Tyra Banks and America’s Next Top Model, as three personalities who have been with the series since its 2003 inception will not have their contracts renewed.

The ousted include:

  1. Judge/Photographer Nigel Barker.
  2. Creative Director Jay Manuel.
  3. Runway Trainer J. Alexander.

The series, currently airing its “British Invasion” themed 18th cycle, will undergo “major changes” heading into next season, an America’s Next Top Model insider tells The New York Post, while Executive Produer Ken Mok says in a statement:

“Nigel Barker, Jay Manuel and J. Alexander have been an integral part of the ‘America’s Next Top Model’ brand and they helped turn this show into the household name it is today. They have been amazing assets to the show and will always be a part of the ‘Top Model’ family. We will continue to actively work with each of them on future projects.”

In a shocking America's Next Top Model twist, Angelea is disqualified and sent home, leaving Lisa and Allison to battle it out for the All-Stars title.

All eyes were on Angelea throughout the America’s Next Top Model All-Stars Finale. Not because she performed particularly well, but because she was disqualified and sent home!

In a series first, Tyra gave Angelea the book during panel for a yet-unknown reason. Sources say the contestant revealed a few spoilers since taping ended, with some actually claiming she won… only for the show to re-film a new ending with a new champion. Scandalous!

Lisa D'Amato in Action
(The CW)

The finale did a great job of wrapping up loose threads from the cycle.  “Pot Ledom,” the forgotten Michael Cinco dresses and the dreaded CoverGirl commercials all made an appearance in the action-packed episode.

Angelea, Allison and Lisa all flubbed the CoverGirl commercials in their own special way. Of course, the spots are infamous, but the girls so far have been rocking live shoots this season, so my expecations were higher.

Allison at first got a distinct advantage for the CoverGirl beauty shot with her stunning eyes, but struggled when they put her in the sun. Lisa’s shoot was actually sultry and stunning without being wild. Angelea struggled the most; her bone structure is unparalleled but her eyes weren’t showcasing the product.

It wouldn’t be Top Model without a dramatic surprise finale photoshoot, of course. Gorgeous Greek setting, sexy swimwear, and Vogue Italia? No pressure indeed. Allison looked the most editorial and graceful in her white bathing suit, far outshining Lisa, who came across rather trashy in her photooshoot.

In keeping with the water theme, the finale runway was chock full of crazy moments:

  1. The models had to swim.
  2. They had to “rise” out of the water like Aphrodite to signify their “birth as models.”
  3. They wore wings and harnesses.
  4. Pot ledom… ledom… ledom…
  5. We finally saw the individualized Michael Cinco dresses.

Although everything else seemed a bit gimmicky, I really enjoyed finally seeing the dresses that the girls designed; they were so beautiful, individual and fitting for each of the models.

Meanwhile: Surprise! The judging was set in Los Angeles. Didn’t it seem as though the finale was all over the place? It was an unusually hectic ANTM episode, with more photoshoots and longer runway than usual.

After Angelea’s shocking elimination, which came as a surprise for Lisa and Allison as well, I was sure that Allison had even more of an advantage. I never thought Lisa would get as far as she already had.

Unfortunately, Lisa was climbing up the scoreboard with her commercial, gorgeous CoverGirl shot and the runway. I knew Allison couldn’t win over the judges in the runway category but she was a much stronger swimmer and was quite bubbly during panel.

I think what may have sealed her fate was Lisa’s surprisingly classy, yet sultry, CoverGirl shoot. I’m really surprised and disappointed that Allison didn’t win All-Stars. I expected anyone as wonderful and quirky as Allison was a total shoo-in to be the champion! I can’t see Lisa as a proper ANTM ambassador either, but maybe I’m wrong.

SHOULD LISA HAVE WON?

What an unmodel-esque episode of America’s Next Top Model. As the penultimate installment of All-Stars, I expected crazy photoshoots with exotic costumes and cinematic backdrops. Instead, I got “Modelland” and the strangest Tyra motion shoot to date on “Tyson Beckford.”

Although the prizes for the All-Stars cycle have been impressive, asking the girls to write a blog post for Vogue Italia seemed irrelevant. Should models be good writers? Will the winning blog post ever see the light of day? It’s doubtful.

But the girls dove into the task with gusto, because it is for Franco Sozzani, the editor of Vogue Italia herself. Plus, winning a trip to Crete is pretty sweet. In the end, Angelea prevailed for her “gritty” realism.

Tyra’s product placement for “Modelland” was despicable. Not only was she depriving the struggling models of an additional photoshoot; she was subjecting them to a bizarre motion editorial to promote her book. And what a bizarre book it is. Tookie? The scene with Laura and whipped cream? So. Much. Dreckitude. Don’t you agree, Andre?

Lisa, who made it much further than I expected, was the best actor with her “mother” scene. Angelea also kicked ass by channeling her rough childhood. Poor Laura didn’t fare as well, but what she was given was so strange that I thought she was at a clear disadvantage.

Tyson Beckford, the insanely gorgeous male model saved the day and the photoshoot. Even Tyra seemed giddy to see the sexy man, which explained why she hijacked the shoot for herself. Honestly, Tyra was quite dislikable during her motion editorials.

The judging was fairly predictable as well, while the strange editorials turned out well with massive editing. How awkward was the scene where Tyra sucked on Tyson’s thumb?

Although I hoped that Laura and Allison would be in the final two, I figured Laura would be doomed from her sad whipped cream performance. And then, with one episode remaining, there were three.

Are you ready to see Allison, Lisa, and Angelea in next week’s finale? I’m 100% rooting for Allison. How about you?

On this week's America's Next Top Model, Angelea cracks under pressure when she feels attacked by the other girls. The photoshoot with Nigel Barker has the girls embody ancient Greek Olympic sports with a couture twist.

The post America’s Next Top Model Review: Fashion Olympics appeared first on TV Fanatic.

It’s getting down to the wire! With just five girls left in the house, tensions were running high for all involved in “Exploring Greece.” When Mr. Jay announced that the girls had to critique one another for the challenge, you could just feel that fuse burning.

Sure enough, Angelea thew a fit when Dominique passionately announced that the former was the weakest link in the house. It probably came as a shock to Angelea because all the girls (making history of ANTM) magnanimously announced that no one is less deserving than anyone else.

Angelea and Nigel Barker
(THE CW/Walter Sassard)

Although Dominique and sweet Laura attempted to help Angelea, she stormed out and was coaxed back only by Mr. Jay. Maybe it’s because I adore Laura and she seemed genuine, but I thought Angelea completely overreacted. Does anyone think that girls were simply trying to throw her off her game?

I’m loving the change of venue so far, and it’s refreshing that ANTM is trying to honor Greece and its wonderful rich culture.

The photoshoot with Nigel Barker involved “fashion Olympics.” The girls actually attempted to mimic real ancient Olympic sports with fashion accessories. Via their fierce wardrobe and gorgeous cliff scenery, I thought the shoot was stunning.

Another plus? Nigel Barker modeling the sports. The man is sexy with a javelin and a shot put. The photoshoot was relatively painless, as Dominique and Lisa stood out the most. Lisa’s constant jumping was an advantage when she modeled the “hurdle.” Laura was my personal favorite with archery. I loved her dress and her jeweled veil-helmet, and she looked so graceful with the heavy bow.

Unfortunately, Angelea and Allison struggled with the shot put and discus. Not the most glamorous sports to model – and it definitely showed in their shoots, even though they looked stunning.

With the judges nitpicking with only five girls remaining, the bottom two – Angelea and Dominique – came as a surprise. Although Nigel repeatedly stuck up for Dominique, who did quite well in the shoot, she was sent home.

I thought that the judges kept Angelea around just for drama, but do you disagree? And how much are you loving Greece so far?
