Well, this is exciting casting news.

Walt Willey, who returned to screens as All My Children's Jackson Montgomery on General Hospital last month, is sticking around for a bit longer.

TV Line broke the news this week that Willey will return to the ABC daytime soap opera this month for a multi-episode arc.

Undoubtedly, AMC fans were happy to have one of the defunct soap opera's most iconic faces back in the role.

Willey spoke out about his initial turn on the series when his casting was revealed earlier this year.

"I am at a loss for words (a very rare condition in my case) over the outpouring of generous, kind and supportive posts… I cannot thank you all enough for loving and caring for me and Jackson," Willey tweeted.

Willey joined the cast of All My Children in 1987 and stayed there until the 2011 series finale on ABC.

Willey also played the role on The City in 1996, so he's no stranger to hopping between shows while playing the same character.

His appearances could also bode well for the long-gestating revival of All My Children.

A limited series event has been teased for a couple of years and was actually in development. Willey returning to the role has probably got executives wondering whether the comeback season could work.

The series, rumored to be titled Pine Valley, was set to focus on a young reporter with a secret agenda who arrives in town to bring Pine Valley's deadly history to light.

While many TV shows have been grounded due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, General Hospital employed temporary writers to keep the scripts coming in.

The actors are on a different contract, allowing them to continue shooting new episodes.

Do you think he should become a more permanent fixture on the series, or would you prefer that long-gestating AMC revival?

Well, this is a pleasant surprise.

Walt Willey is returning to daytime TV and reprising one of his most beloved roles.

Soap Opera Digest reports that the All My Children alum has closed a deal to star on General Hospital.

Cool, right?

It's always nice when a character we thought was long gone gets to stage a comeback long after the series has ended.

Willey joined the cast of All My Children in 1987 and stayed put until the 2011 series finale on ABC.

This is not the first time Willey has played Jackson in another series.

He appeared in The City in 1996, so this will be the third series the actor has played the same role.

Plot details are being kept under wraps about what brings Jackson to Port Charles, but it will be interesting to find out what happened to him following the conclusion of All My Children.

There is also scope for intel on what became of other characters, so that should be interesting, right?

There has been an indication that ABC is interested in a primetime revival of All My Children.

The last we heard about was from Kelly Ripa, who said it is still in development but hinted that it was not a top priority for the network.

"Hopefully, it comes back and hopefully sooner rather than later because, for me, that's really, you know, that, to me, is the thing that I care about the most because All My Children is responsible for every good thing that happened to me in my life," Ripa said last summer.

Pine Valley was to be a primetime continuation of the beloved daytime soap.

The series was then set to focus on a young reporter with a secret agenda who arrives in town to bring Pine Valley's deadly history to light.

The young journalist gets tied up in a feud between the Santos and Kane families.

We can hope that the project sees the light of day.

Until then, we'll be waiting to learn more about Jackson's storylines in Port Charles.

The long-gestating All My Children spinoff Pine Valley is still in the works.

Kelly Ripa opened up about the series' status during a recent chat with ABC 7.

While ABC has not been forthcoming with information about the project, Ripa said that it is still "in the queue."

The unfortunate part of the announcement is that it doesn't sound like it's a top priority at the moment.

"I don't even know where that is in the queue," Ripa adds.

"Hopefully, it comes back and hopefully sooner rather than later because, for me, that's really, you know, that, to me, is the thing that I care about the most because All My Children is responsible for every good thing that happened to me in my life," the star added.

Ripa met husband, Mark Conseulos while working on the show.

Consuelo landed a role in 1995 and the pair got married shortly after.

First announced in 2020, Pine Valley was to be a primetime continuation of the beloved daytime soap.

The series was then set to focus on a young reporter with a secret agenda who arrives in town to bring Pine Valley’s deadly history to light.

The young journalist gets tied up in a feud between the Santos and Kane families.

Leo Richardson (Star, Katy Keene) was set to write and executive produce the project.

The project would have likely brought Susan Lucci back to screens, having played Erica Kane in the original series.

The project was set to be shepherded by Ripa and Consuelos and would have brought back a string of favorite characters to take the franchise in a very different direction.

At the time, there was no telling whether Ripa or Consuelos would appear on-screen.

The potential series "will have a heightened tone and will wink to the daytime soap genre similar to how the CW’s Jane the Virgin paid homage to telenovelas," according to a Deadline report from 2020.

All My Children originally aired for 41 years from 1970-2011.

Sad news out of the TV world as the news has broken that Michael Nader has died.

The Dynasty and All My Children star died on Monday at the age of 76.

“With heavy heart, I’m sharing the news of the passing of my beloved, Michael,” Nader’s wife Jodi Lister shared in a statement obtained by MichaelFairmanTV.com.

“We had 18 wonderful years together with the many dogs we fostered and adopted," the statement continued.

"Recently, Michael was so thrilled to reconnect with his friends from the cast of Dynasty during Emma Samms virtual event to help raise funds for Long-Covid research."

"He was a beautiful and fascinating man with many talents and skills. I will miss him forever.”

The beloved actor died of an untreatable form of cancer.

Nader first appeared on the original iteration of the primetime soap Dynasty in 1983 as Dex.

The character was well-known for having an affair with Alexis Carrington (Joan Collins).

Nader was a part of the Dynasty ensemble until it wrapped for good in 1989.

The actor followed up the primetime soap with the daytime soap opera All My Children in 1991.

He remained with the series for a decade — another long stint on the TV front.

Some of his biggest storylines on the sudser included his romances, with one being Erica Kane (Susan Lucci).

While Nader departed in 2001, he did make a comeback in 2013 when the soap moved to Prospect Park's Online Network, its new home for a short run after ABC swung the axe two years earlier.

The move to Prospect Park was not a success, and the show was canceled again as Prospect Park Online Network fell apart that same year.

In addition to Dynasty (clip above) and All My Children, Nader also appeared on shows such as Cold Case, Law & Order: SVU, the original Flash, Magnum, P.I., and Gidget.

Michael's decades-long career kicked off with his first soap role on As the World Turns, where he starred from 1975-78.

Michael is survived by his wife, Jodi, stepmother Lillian, sister Stephanie, daughter Lindsay, ex-wife Robin, son-in-law Trevor, and granddaughter Juniper.

A memorial on Zoom is planned for a later date.

May he rest in peace.

ABC is poised to return to Pine Valley.

Per Deadline, former All My Children stars Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are prepping a sequel series for the network.

It will be a primetime continuation and is set to be called Pine Valley, if all goes to plan.

The series will focus on a young reporter with a secret agenda who arrives in town to bring Pine Valley’s deadly history to light.

The young journalist gets tied up in a feud between the Santos and Kane families.

Leo Richardson (Star, Katy Keene) is on board to write and executive produce the project.

The Kane family was one of the most popular on All My Children, with Erica Kane becoming of the biggest characters on TV.

Susan Lucci originally played the role.

Ripa and Consuelos, who played Hayley & Mateo Santos on the original series, are set to be heavily involved in the project.

They are also working with Andrew Stearn and filmmaker Robert Nixon, son of the late AMC creator Agnes Nixon.

It will bring back some old favorites, but will introduce fans to a new generation of Pine Valley.

There's no confirmation on whether Ripa and Consuelos will return, but the option is there for them to make a cameo.

The potential series "will have a heightened tone and will wink to the daytime soap genre similar to how the CW’s Jane the Virgin paid homage to telenovelas," according to Deadline.

All My Children aired for 41 years on ABC from January 1970 to September 2011.

It was later revived by The Online Network and aired new episodes from April to September 2013.

It lasted just 40 episodes on that medium.

ABC later regained the rights in December 2016, paving the way for the latest iteration of the series.

It's certainly an interesting hook and a way to bring new and old characters into the fold.

This also makes it accessible for new viewers.

Kelly Ripa opened up about her late All My Children co-star on Monday's episode of Live With Kelly and Ryan.

The actor died on March 28 after suffering a massive stroke.

Ripa appeared on AMC, playing Hayley Vaughan from 1990-2001.

“I really had a bad weekend this weekend. A very dear friend of mine for many, many years — almost 30 years — passed away over the weekend,” shared Ripa.

“He was a great actor, a really good friend, one of the funniest people I’ve ever met… He was 66 years old. Way too young to be taken from us.”

Ripa went on to show some behind-the-scenes stills of herself and Callahan from their days on the beloved soap, she told co-host Ryan Seacrest that “you two would have loved each other. He would say the funniest things… He’s just one of those guys.”

Ripa offered up some words for Callahan's ex-wife, Eva LaRue, and their daughter, Kaya.

“[Kaya] and my daughter are good friends, they’re the same age. I just want everyone to know, Eva and Kaya, we are thinking of you, and we are just so sad and so devastated,” Ripa said.

“I apologize in advance if I seem out of it. I really actually am. I’m terribly out of it, so forgive me.”

News of Callahan's death broke over the weekend, with Ripa sharing the following on Twitter in the aftermath:

"Because there are no words, all i can muster is Rest In Peace #johncallahan My heart breaks for you @evalarue and @kaya_callahan," she said on Twitter.

Callahan played the dashing Edmund Grey on AMC for 13 years.

However, Callahan’s soap opera credits also include Santa Barbara (where he played Craig Hunt), Days of Our Lives, General Hospital (as Leo), in addition to the web series The Bay.

La Rue paid tribute to her ex and former screen partner on Instagram.

“May Flights of Angels Wing You to Your Rest my Dear Friend,” she wrote, adding:

“Your bigger than life, gregarious personality will leave a hole in our hearts forever. We are devastated-My great friend, co parent partner, and loving father to Kaya.”

“Kaya and I are beyond broken-hearted, so stunned, sorry that my thoughts are a mess," she continued.

'You gave the best most beautifully written tributes, and I am at a complete loss for words right now for you."

"I hope Heaven has baseball and that your team always wins! "The Yankees has just lost their biggest fan."

"That big belly laugh, bear hugs, bad puns, ability to harmonize to any song, great kitchen table singing-fests, and two steppin bad ass! ‘Johnny Numbers’, my All My Children soap stud, the great time keeper, Beatles fanatic ( I wish to God we could go back to ‘Yesterday’).”

Callahan appeared on All My Children from 1992-2005 as Edmund Gray, but he also had big roles on fellow soaps Santa Barbara, Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, and The Bay.

He also played Eric Savros on Falcon Crest, and had a big role in the 2016 miniseries Ladies of the Lake, opposite fellow daytime-TV vets Martha Madison, Lilly Melgar, Marie Wilson, and Jessica Morris.

All My Children was a soap opera staple when it aired from 1970-2013.

And viewers may not have seen the last of the sudser, according to Susan Lucci.

The actress has teased that there continues to be "buzz" surrounding a revival of the series.

Lucci admitted at the Go Red for Women event in New York City that should be interested in returning to the series if it was brought back from the dead.

“We are hearing a little buzz,” Lucci said of a potential return, according to Page Six.

“It’s just important to be in the right hands. Lorraine Broderick was the head writer and I know that she’s a beautiful writer, so if she was [on board] that would help a lot.”

Lucci has kept in contact with much of the cast and crew from the series, so it may not be difficult to get everyone back together to resolve some of those cliffhangers.

The actress also noted that reality TV shows such as the Real Housewives franchise could not replace the daytime soaps of old.

“I don’t think they are the modern-day soaps,” Lucci said. “There’s no storytelling. There’s a lot of editing. It’s, like, they cut to the chase all the time, and I think it’s different.”

Lucci does make some great points, conceding that while reality stars “great at entertaining,” they are just not "the same” as seasoned soap stars.

Many former soap stars have gone on to appear on the Real Housewives franchise, with the most recent being Denise Richards, who is currently appearing on RHOBH and The Bold and the Beautiful.

Lucci starred on the iconic soap for over 40 years as Erica Kane, winning several awards throughout the show's run.

ABC canceled All My Children back in 2011 amid falling ratings, with the network selling the rights to Prospect Park to allow the show to continue as a series of webisodes.

The series was dealt another blow when Prospect Park failed to secure the funding to produce the episodes, and it was canceled all over again before it got off the ground.

However, the online company changed course and brought the series back to the air in April 2013. Though the show was canceled months later, leaving fans in the lurch all over again.

ABC now has the rights to the series, so any potential reboot would have to go through them.

What do you think about this?

Would you watch a reboot?

David Canary has passed away.

Canary played twin brothers Adam and Stuart Chandler on the soap opera All My Children, which he joined in 1984.

Adam Chandler was wealthy and would do anything to get what he wanted, often viewed as the evil patriarch of the Chandler family.

Stuart Chandler was his kind and gentle brother, often duped by his brother Adam and forced into situations beyond his control. Many stories of deception were played by Canary as Adam acted as Stuart to get what he wanted.

Chandler was in the forefront of storylines until he chose to retire from the profession in 2010. He won five daytime Emmy Awards for outstanding actor and had received 16 nominations during his career through 2001.

Canary is survived by his wife, Maureen, with whom he raised two children, Christopher and Kathryn. They were very involved in their community and with local charitable organizations.
