Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 went out on a high note, revisiting some of its greatest hits and promising a happy ending for the majority of its characters.

For a show that was a spin-off of one of the most successful film franchises of all time, the expectations were high from the start.

Thankfully they were able to cement their worthiness as a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, proven by the victory lap they took us on this final season. From HYDRA to the Quantum Realm, it's a season we won't soon forget.

Simmons - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 9
(Mitch Haaseth/ABC)

Best Episode

Elizabeth Henstridge's directorial debut on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 9 was arguably one of the series' best.

It was essentially a bottle episode as Daisy and Coulson tried to figure a way out of an exasperating time loop; the hour was a fun escape from the usual trouble — AKA the Chronicoms — the agents were facing while still managed to move the story forward.

It featured Daisy and Sousa's first kiss, the mysterious dread of Simmons' memories, a crucial talk about morality between Daisy and Coulson, the promise that this would be the team's last mission, and Enoch's unfortunate death.

Plus, there was a hilarious montage of the team trying to stop Enoch from killing all of them. What more could you want from an episode?

Mackenzie - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 10
(Jessica Brooks/ABC)

Worst Episode

I'll start this off by saying that even the worst episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 is still considered good by overall television show standards.

But if we had to pick one, it would be Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 10.

Firstly, it was terrible to see Daisy witness her mother's death again. Hasn't the series tortured her enough?

There was also the fact that there was enough plot in this one episode for at least two. Compared to the time loop hour that preceded it, there was not a lot of room for the tenth episode to breathe and felt a bit rushed at times.

Jiaying From the Past - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 8
(ABC/Mitch Haaseth)

Favorite Returning Character

Since Daniel Sousa had never appeared on an episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. before this season, he'll be excluded from this category. Jiaying's reappearance, however, was a nice surprise that served to further Daisy's story.

Daisy never got to witness who her mother was before Daniel Whitehall experimented on her and forever changed her. The last memory Daisy has of Jiaying is her attempt to kill her.

While it was a bittersweet reunion, Daisy was able to see the light side of her mother, who only wanted to help others.

It was a complete turnaround from when we last saw Jiaying, and it was great that Daisy was able to receive a bit of closure, and a new sister, from this stolen time with her mother.

Fitz - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 13
(ABC/Mitch Haaseth)

Most Confusing Storyline

Okay, so was Fitz the one jetting them through time, or was the Zephyr just programmed to follow the Chronicoms?

The science behind their time-traveling adventures remains to be a bit muddled, even with all the explanation we received on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 13.

They made it seem as if no time had passed at all for Fitz from when he entered the pod to when he traveled between timelines to meet up with the rest of the team.

If that is true, then why were Sibyl and Nathaniel so worried about Fitz? If someone could explain it to me, please do so in the comments, it would be greatly appreciated.

Coulson - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 10
(Jessica Brooks/ABC)

Best Throwback

When you think about it, there was no other way for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to end other than Coulson jetting away with his precious, newly upgraded Lola.

It had been a while since we last saw Coulson's prized possession, but anyone who has seen every episode knows Lola when they see it's shiny red exterior.

Having Lola in the last scene with Coulson was the perfect way to give a little nod to diehard fans while also bringing Coulson's time on the show full circle.

Leo Fitz - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 13
(ABC/Mitch Haaseth)

Character We Missed the Most

While this season was near perfect, it was hard to ignore the elephant in the room that was Fitz's absence.

Leopold Fitz has been a fan favorite since Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 1, and it was devastating not to have him come along for the majority of the final ride.

Thankfully, his presence was felt throughout with the mystery of where he was and with Simmons, Deke, and Enoch keeping his spirit alive on the Zephyr. But there's nothing like the original.

We were able to see him on the two-part finale and receive closure for his story, but we can't help but be greedy and want more of Fitz.

Mackenzie - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 7
(Mitch Haaseth/ABC)

Favorite Decade

The agents zipped through time and traveled from decade to decade, but nothing beats the '80s.

Especially when that meant that we got to see Deke form a stereotypical '80s rock band and claim other hits as his own. The Deke Squad's performance of "Don't You (Forget About Me)" will never be anything short of epic.

The show went all out on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 7 to embrace the decade with great music, killer robots, and cheesy one-liners.

What more could you want?

Enoch - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 9
(Mitch Haaseth/ABC)

Saddest Death

We always knew that there was a great probability that not every single member of the team would make it out alive for the final season, and unfortunately, that was the case for Enoch.

Surprisingly, Enoch's demise was the only major one, but that didn't make it hurt any less.

Enoch was the best of the Chronicoms, and the team's inspiration in their final battle against them. He was not always appreciated, but that never stopped him from trying to help them and his best friend, Fitz.

He was a true hero that saved the team a countless amount of times, and he will not soon be forgotten by them all.

Deke - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 12
(Mitch Haaseth/ABC)

Best Quote

This is, by far, the funniest line of the season. Thank you, Jeff Ward, for making me pause the episode during my watch for at least ten minutes because I was laughing too hard.

Deke: I’ll stay.

Mack: D-

Deke: First of all, I’m the one with the scientific knowledge to be able to repatch the power. Danny boy over here is still impressed by a lightbulb.

Sousa: That’s not accurate or nice.

🔗 permalink: That’s not accurate or nice.

Missed Opportunity

Let's face it, Ward is a terrible person, and he will always be a terrible person. Or, at least, in the original timeline.

On the Run - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2 Episode 8
(Adam Rose/ABC)

However, he was a major character in the debut season and the couple that followed it. He was also directly tied to the greatest plot twist the show has ever done, and one of the best ones in television history.

It would have been amazing if Ward reappeared in some fashion on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s last season. There were mentions of him, but we never saw him in person.

Ward is one of the best villains the show has ever developed, and it was a missed opportunity to not feature him in some capacity for the series' final run.

Favorite New Couple

Daisy and Sousa - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 13
(ABC/Mitch Haaseth)

The coupling of Daisy and Sousa was a surprise to all, but they somehow made it work.

Maybe it was through the sheer chemistry between Chloe Bennet and Enver Gjokaj, or the fact that opposites attract came into major play, but we loved to see them fall in love onscreen.

Daisy has quite often struggled in the love department, and Sousa had his own troubles on Marvel's Agent Carter, so it was a relief that they were able to find each other despite the odds stacked against them.

Daisy and Sousa got their happy ending, but now that we've had a little taste of their dynamic, we can't help but want to see even more.

Kora - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 12
(ABC/Mitch Haaseth)

Rushed Redemption

The character of Kora was a shock to all, especially to Daisy, who had no idea she once had a sister. Unfortunately, Nathaniel got to her first and manipulated her into thinking S.H.I.E.L.D. was the enemy.

Kora quickly became a villain who hated her mother and wanted the world to pay for her pain. Her motivation made sense until it didn't.

She quickly went from wanting to destroy S.H.I.E.L.D. to saving her sister's life. Of course, Nathaniel's betrayal was a factor, but her redemption still felt rushed.

It's great that Daisy now has a new sister, but it would've been nice to see Kora and her relationship with Daisy develop more so that her motivations would be more clear.

Evil - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 11
(Jessica Brooks/ABC)

Villain We Loved to Hate

Oh, Nathaniel. What a manipulative creep he was, and it was so satisfying to see Daisy blow him to pieces.

As a Malick, it was obvious that Nathaniel was going to have at least one evil bone in his body. But it turns out he had a lot more than that.

From taking Daisy's powers to using Kora for his personal gain, Nathaniel was a true villain that everyone loved to hate. Even his mannerisms were off-putting, and seeing him meet his end was something we were waiting for all season.

He was a great villain to introduce for the show's final season since he was new but still familiar because of his family name.

Fitz and Simmons - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 13
(ABC/Mitch Haaseth)

Most Heartwarming Ending

Fitz and Simmons were put through the wringer on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., weren't they?

Their relationship, as Fitz liked to put it, was cursed through and through. From Simmons being sucked up by a Monolith to Fitz being an evil HYDRA agent in the Framework, they have seen it all.

Now they have the cutest little daughter and are retired from their tiring S.H.I.E.L.D. work.

If anyone deserved to have a happy ending after all the tragedy they faced, it was Fitz and Simmons.

Sousa - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 11
(ABC/Mitch Haaseth)

Best Surprise

When it was announced that Enver Gjokaj would be reprising his role as Daniel Sousa on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s final season, everyone assumed it would be for only one episode.

Well, the joke is on us because he appeared on ten out of the thirteen episodes!

Sousa fit right in with the rest of the team, especially with Daisy, and it was a joy to watch him join the show for its last season. And it was a win for fans who loved him on Marvel's Agent Carter.

Sousa's extended appearance was the best and most welcome surprise of one of the best seasons of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Daisy and Coulson - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 13
(ABC)

Overall Grade: A+

It's rare for a show, especially one in the superhero genre, to have its last season be arguably its best. And with one of its main and most popular characters missing for the majority of it nonetheless.

These last thirteen episodes showed us why Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. resonated with so many people and kept them watching.

The show excelled at portraying and developing the found family trope, with memorable, complex characters and relationships. And all that and more shined through on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7.

It was a love letter to the fans, and it was rare in the fact that a mass majority of the characters received happy endings. Other shows, please take notice.

Bellamy and Clarke - The 100

What grade would you give Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s final season?

What are your thoughts on the endings of each individual character? What else would you have liked to see?

And do you want a spin-off as badly as I do?

Season 7 Episode 12

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. came to an end with a two-part finale as the team fought the Chronicoms and carried out one last mission together. Read on for our review!

The post Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Series Finale Review: What We’re Fighting For appeared first on TV Fanatic.

]]>
It's finally time to pour one out, take a parting shot, and say a spy's goodbye to our Agents of S.H.I.E.LD.

For the two-part series finale, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 12 and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 13, the team was tasked with saving their original timeline thanks to the meddling of the Chronicoms.

The stakes were high, and emotions were running rampant from character to character, making for a perfect end to this action-filled and full of heart Marvel show.

Jemma Simmons - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 12
(Mitch Haaseth/ABC)

To start it all, Simmons and Deke needed to be saved from the Chronicom ship.

Thankfully, Sibyl wanted Daisy to get to Simmons to amp up the chance that Fitz's location would be divulged. Unfortunately for her, she underestimated Kora and the resourcefulness of Mack and Sousa.

Daisy: Kora.

Mack: How’d she get up here?

Daisy: I don’t care. She’s not gonna stop me from getting back Simmons.

Mack: And Deke.

Daisy: Sure.

🔗 permalink: And Deke.

So, some of my predictions for the series finale that I stated on my review of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D Season 7 Episode 11 came true, and some of them were severely wrong. But I would say fifty percent accuracy is not too bad.

One of my false predictions was Kora's fate. I thought there was no hope for her, but it turns out I underestimated her as well.

Kora has felt misunderstood and confused ever since Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D Season 7 Episode 8. She could be easily manipulated, which is why Nathaniel clung to her.

Yo-Yo - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 12
(ABC)

After some time with Daisy, though, Kora was able to see the truth that S.H.I.E.L.D. were the good guys.

Daisy has lost so much, from her mother to her father, that she deserved to have this one person who was built-in family. They didn't get off to the best start, understandably, but as much as finales are about endings, they're also about new beginnings.

Once Kora let Daisy leave with Simmons and Deke, it was clear that her story took a turn for the better.

Coulson: This is what we were fighting for.

Daisy: Family.

🔗 permalink: Family.

Simmons, on the other hand, was still experiencing memory problems and was spitting out what seemed to be nonsense until they met up with the other agents in the safehouse.

After a battle of their own at the Lighthouse — R.I.P. John Garrett, again — the remaining S.H.I.E.L.D. agents joined together with pieces of tech that only Simmons knew how to put together. Finally, the season-long mystery was revealed.

Melinda May - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 12
(ABC)

And just like that, Fitz was back!

His arrival prompted a squeal that was two-sided. For one, we have waited so long for Fitz to reunite with the team, and secondly, the way he entered the safehouse was all too familiar.

Anyone who has seen Avengers: Endgame at least ten times — AKA me — recognized Fitz's outfit and the way he entered.

While it was a bit different and didn't have the fancy Avengers logo, his jumpsuit and helmet were eerily similar to the ones the Avengers wore when they traveled through the quantum realm to save the world on the film.

Fitz soon confirmed our suspicions that he had traveled through the quantum realm between the original timeline and the one they had created through their adventures on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7.

Daisy - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 12
(Mitch Haaseth/ABC)

This subtle reference to the MCU was a supremely cool way to connect the show to its mothership one last time. And it was only fitting that the final connection was to what is seen as the end to an era of the MCU films.

At last, we finally got an answer to the question of whether or not the original timeline survived, thanks to Fitz and a series of flashbacks.

Simmons: Is this the future or the past? They look so similar.

🔗 permalink: Is this the future or the past? They look so similar.

The mystery of Fitz, Simmons, and Enoch's overarching plan to defeat the Chronicoms came to a head, and while it was confusing at first, it also made perfect sense.

The wait for the reveal was worth it, and even though the use of flashbacks has at most times felt like a cop-out on TV shows to explain the narrative, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. used them to their advantage and managed to make their inclusion feel natural.

Plus, it allowed us to see Fitz and Simmons live out their happy ending for a few years in their favorite star system. That is fan service at its best.

Daisy and May - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 12
(ABC)

As it turns out, Fitz and Simmons had a daughter named Alya while in space — cue the tears.

If any couple in the history of television deserves to have a happy ending, it's Fitzsimmons.

Piper: I’m sorry, are you saying we were guarding this thing for nothing?

Fitz: No, you were guarding our everything.

🔗 permalink: No, you were guarding our everything.

Their romance, as Fitz would put it, has been cursed at times. To see them retire and have a family of their own is all the fans have ever wanted, and I am one hundred percent confident that everyone will be satisfied with their ending.

Fitz and Simmons' love story has been a pleasure to watch, through the ups and the downs, there is no doubt that they will go down in history as one of the most epic romances on television.

And hopefully, with Alya, they'll see Deke again one day.

Deke - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 12
(Mitch Haaseth/ABC)

Once they realized someone would have to stay behind in the new timeline to ensure the rest of them were able to travel back to the original timeline, it was obvious that person would be Deke.

As seen on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 7, Deke excels at starting over and making a new life for himself. Plus, like Sousa, he is a man out of time and from a different timeline.

The difference is that Sousa and Daisy had formed a strong romantic connection, and as Deke so eloquently and hilariously put it, he knows a lot more about tech and science than Sousa does.

It was a bittersweet goodbye between Deke and the team, as they might just see him again in twenty years or so but never this version of him.

On the bright side, Deke will be able to fulfill his superstar dreams, while also possibly taking on the role of a secret S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. It's a perfect ending and beginning for the quirky grandson of Fitzsimmons.

Mack - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 12
(ABC)

Once the team got back to the original timeline, right where they left it, they got to work to stop the Chronicoms from destroying S.H.I.E.L.D. once again.

With the combination of May's, Kora's, and Daisy's powers, they were able to give the Chronicoms compassion and return S.H.I.E.L.D. to its glory.

Coulson: Now it’s my turn to smile. We just needed you to enter your authorization.

Sibyl: Oh? And what comes next?

May: The Cavalry.

🔗 permalink: The Cavalry.

There was no doubt that the Chronicoms would be defeated, but it was sweet, in a sort of cheesy way, that their win didn't mean all Chronicoms would be killed. It was a nice way to honor Enoch's memory.

They all did their part, from Daisy finally putting an end to the ever-annoying Nathaniel and Kora saving her life to May falling from the ceiling and taking down Sibyl like the badass she is.

The mission was over. So, what came next for the team?

Daisy Johnson - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 12
(ABC)

As mentioned before, Fitz and Simmons retired and settled down with their adorable daughter with the most precious accent. As for the rest of the team, they all went their separate ways.

May's teaching at the Coulson Academy with Flint as one of her students, Mack seems to be the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Yo-Yo is a part of a new S.H.I.E.L.D. team with Piper and Davis, and Daisy is traveling through space for possibly S.W.O.R.D. with Sousa and Kora.

As for Coulson, he is just figuring it all out.

Daisy: Are you really just seeing the world?

Coulson: There’s some places I’ve always wanted to go.

Daisy: Okay. But look at what you did here. There are people out there who are lost, people who show promise. If you don’t find them, who will?

Coulson: How’s it going with your new recruit?

Daisy: She’s doing great. She’s been through a lot, but, um, it’s funny what can happen when someone believes in you.

Coulson: Give me a call when you get back.

Daisy: Yes, sir.

🔗 permalink: Someone believes in you

Who would have ever thought that they would all, especially Coulson, make it out of this season alive? And living their best lives? For a show that has had so much tragedy, an ending like this is a nice surprise.

And the very last scene with Coulson and Lola — take note that the combination for the briefcase containing the car keys was 136, the same number of episodes the show did — was obviously the only way to end the series.

May - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 12
(ABC)

Albeit a bit confusing — though, that's to be expected with time travel — it was a perfect finale that perfectly summed up what these last seven seasons have been about.

Family.

This whole S.H.I.E.L.D. team sees one another as family, as proved by their yearly get together at the S.H.I.E.L.D. safehouse. They all send Fitzsimmons' daughter presents, they worry about one another, and they're supportive above all else.

They didn't start as a family on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 1, but with time and through shared experiences, they became one. If that doesn't make your heart feel all warm and fuzzy, I don't know what will.

Coulson - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 12
(ABC)

Endings are hard, but they're necessary for all aspects of life as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. so beautifully showed us.

Throughout the entirety of its last season, the show alluded to the fact that their mission against the Chronicoms would be their last one together.

May: We’re not the same people we were.

Coulson: Pretty sure everyone would agree on that.

May: I’m wondering if we change the timelines or if they change us.

Coulson: The Melinda May I know would never ask these philosophical questions.

May: Which is the point. How did I become this me?

Coulson: I don’t know, but I like this you. And if I’m completely honest, I like this me as well.

🔗 permalink: I don’t know, but I like this you. And if I’m completely honest, I like this me as well.

This allowed them the opportunity to give each character a deserving and practical sendoff, spread out throughout the season. Not one character ended up in a place that didn't make sense for their character arc.

Nothing lasts forever, it can't, but every character took with them what they learned on this seven-year journey through space and time and everything in between to create new beginnings for themselves.

Alison DiLaurentis - Pretty Little Liars

What did you think, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Fanatics?

Was it a good ending for a show that lasted seven seasons? Were you surprised by the Fitzsimmons baby reveal?

Fitz tells the team that they can still get back to their original timeline and save it. He tells them that Kora is the key.

They can travel between timelines through the quantum realm.

They can use the quantum bridge to bring all the Chronicom ships back with them to the original timeline, but someone would have to stay behind to set it up and turn it on.

Sousa offers to stay, but Deke volunteers himself.

They go back to the original timeline with the Chronicoms and Deke stays behind.

Fitz helps Simmons remember her memories.

When Enoch saved them from the Chronicoms, they transported to a quinjet with Piper and Flint.

Enoch stole a copy of the time stream which helped him predict the future.

Flint made a piece of the time monolith for them. Simmons, Fitz, and Enoch stoke the Zephyr and jetted away to a star system — Alya.

Once there, Fitz studied the time stream and they knew there was only one way to save mankind.

They turned the Zephyr into a time machine and lived for years together until they decided it was time to get back to reality.

Once back in the jungle where they left Piper and Flint, Fitz enters a pod that they tell Piper and Flint to guard with their life.

Enoch inserted Simmons's implant and they rescued the team and started their journey.

Simmons remembers, but she's forgetting one thing.

They arrive in the original timeline the moment they left.

Yo-Yo, Sousa, Fitz, and Simmons arrive to help the team escape from the temple and onto the time machine Zephyr. They get off and go back to the quinjet.

The Chronicom ship fires at the Zephyr on Earth, but it time travels before it hits them.

The Zephyr in space docks onto the Chronicom ship.

The quinjet team heads to the Lighthouse and take down the Chronicoms there.

On the Chronicom ship, Nathaniel, now with Kora's power, faces off against Daisy.

Mack saves Kora.

Coulson is taken by Sibyl. He gets her to enter her authorization code to send all Hunters to the Lighthouse and destroy all S.H.I.E.L.D. bases.

May bursts through the ceiling and takes Sibyl down. Her and Coulson fight off the Chronicoms.

Kora uses her powers to help the team broadcast a signal from May to the Chronicoms in the Lighthouse to give them empathy.

The Chronicoms stop their pursuit and align with the team.

Daisy stays behind to stop Nathaniel and the missiles that Sibyl ordered to strike S.H.I.E.L.D. blow up the Chronicom ships.

The Zephyr rescues Daisy and Kora brings her back to life.

Fitz and Simmons return to Fitz's pod that is being guarded by Piper and Flint. In the back of it is their daughter, Alya.

One year later, the team meets up virtually at the S.H.I.E.L.D. safehouse.

Mack is director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Yo-Yo is with a new team. Fitzsimmons are retired and raising Alya. May is a professor at the Coulson Academy. Daisy is with Sousa and they travel through space with Kora for S.H.I.E.L.D. Coulson is reassessing and seeing the world.

They all leave.

Mack decks out Coulson's car, Lola, for him and he jets away.

Mack, Daisy, and Sousa dock with the Zephyr in space. A Chronicom ship locks onto the Zephyr.

The Zephyr is empty.

On the Chronicom ship, Simmons and Deke are thrown into a holding cell. Simmons is injected with something that will dissolve her implant.

Nathaniel, Kora, and Garrett meet with Sibyl, who now has a body.

In the Lighthouse, they go into lockdown.

Nathaniel tells Kora that he killed Jiaying for her.

Garrett teleports into the Lighthouse and starts planting Chronicom bombs.

Daisy, Mack, and Sousa make a plan for Daisy to infiltrate the Chronicom ship to bring back Simmons and Deke while Mack and Sousa work to get the hangar doors open.

Sousa kisses Daisy before she leaves.

Sibyl, via broadcast, tells Daisy, Mack, and Sousa that they destroyed the S.H.I.E.L.D. bases.

Yo-Yo puts a device on Garrett that prevents him from teleporting. They make him call Nathaniel to deactivate the bombs. Nathaniel refuses.

The bombs go off.

Coulson, May, and Yo-Yo survive after Yo-Yo moves all the bombs to one place, causing the structure to not collapse. Garrett is badly injured.

They're trapped in the Lighthouse as all the exits are blocked. They save Garrett.

Daisy rescues Simmons and Deke from their cell, but Simmons doesn't remember her.

Against Sibyl's orders, Kora attacks them. Deke takes Simmons back to the Zephyr while Daisy holds off Kora.

Daisy gets back to the Zephyr.

Nathaniel knocks Kora out and locks her up.

Mack and Sousa make a missile made out of Chronicoms and blast the hangar door of the Chronicom ship open.

They escape.

Garrett teleports Coulson, May, and Yo-Yo out of the Lighthouse into the S.H.I.E.L.D. bar safehouse after intercepting a coder transmission from there.

A group of agents who also responded to the transmission are there, and one of them shoots Garrett in the head.

Some of them brought packages that they were instructed to bring.

The crew from the Zephyr arrive.

Simmons puts together a device with the contents of the packages. Enoch deposited them over the decades.

The device opens a secret room with a spot for the device. Simmons puts it in its place. She uses her wedding ring to activate it.

It teleports Fitz into the room.

Sibyl predicts that there is a one hundred percent chance this will be the last time the S.H.I.E.L.D. team is together.

I know I say this with every new episode review, but things just got a whole lot worse for the S.H.I.E.L.D. team. And now, the future of S.H.I.E.L.D. is in jeopardy.

The Chronicoms did promise at the beginning of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 that they would put an end to S.H.I.E.L.D., and they have finally done it.

Massive Chronicom ships arrived in the 80s' and took out every single S.H.I.E.L.D. base there is, including the famous Triskellion, on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 11. So, is this really the end?

Nathaniel - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 11
(Jessica Brooks/ABC)

Of course not. Somehow, someway, the agents will come out on top and restore S.H.I.E.L.D. But for right now, it all seems a bit hopeless, doesn't it? How are they ever going to recover from this?

So much has been lost (and a little bit has been gained — looking at you Sousa) on this final season that it's hard to imagine a world where every single character ends up with nothing left and that's it — the end.

Daisy: It won’t be the same.

Mack: No, it won’t. But that’s okay.

🔗 permalink: No, it won’t. But that’s okay.

Since the whole theme of this season has been time travel, it might be safe to assume that time travel is involved in their plan to defeat Nathaniel, Kora, and the Chronicoms.

But maybe that's what the writers want us to think. After all, there have been many plot twists that we have not seen coming over the last few episodes.

Either way, it is not looking good for the team. Thankfully they do still have a dark horse, and his name is Leopold Fitz.

May - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 11
(ABC)

Fitz is back, and he is (most likely) still alive!

Unfortunately, we only saw him through Simmons' memories, but all signs point to him being alive and well at the present moment, in my opinion.

Did anyone else jump with glee and cry when they saw him in Simmons' first memory of them at the bottom of the ocean? Or was that just me?

We have been deprived of Fitz for too long, and it was about time that he graced us with his presence on our television screens.

It wasn't under the happiest of circumstances since Nathaniel was once again abusing a woman from the S.H.I.E.L.D. team, along with her grandson. He is a slimy villain that we love to hate.

Nathaniel Malick - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 11
(Jessica Brooks/ABC)

The trip down Fitzsimmons' memory lane was fantastic, though, and it was the pick-me-up we needed after the fan-favorite couple spent nearly a whole season apart.

It started out with scenes that we have already seen and ended with new ones that gave us a little bit more insight into just what happened before Simmons arrived with the new and improved Zephyr at the end of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 6 Episode 13.

Fitz: We don’t have to rush. We could just take some time to live.

Simmons: Fitz-

Fitz: Well we built a nice home for ourselves here, could spruce it up. Live together. No mission, no end of the world. We could just be.

Simmons: Is this about the bloodwork?

Fitz: No, and yeah. But because we deserve it, regardless.

Simmons: We don’t even know if it’s-

Fitz: Listen. If May and Coulson taught us anything, it’s that we should take the time that we have.

🔗 permalink: Listen. If May and Coulson taught us anything, it’s that we should take the time that we have.

The amount of time that they spent building the Zephyr is still a mystery, but it had to have been at least a year if what Fitz and Simmons were arguing about on that last scene is what I think.

Did Fitz and Simmons have a baby?

Coulson - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 11
(ABC)

On the first new flashback, there was mention of bloodwork and the possibility of it messing with their mission to save the team.

It made Fitz want to take a step back and live a little with Simmons before returning to their responsibilities. And what could be more important than having a child and wanting to settle down for them?

This is all speculation, of course, and it just might be that something is truly wrong with Fitz. The bloodwork and Simmons freaking out about forgetting whatever it means could be inferred as Fitz being sick.

Sousa: You know, I learned a long time ago not to let somebody do something stupid on their own.

Daisy: You learn that in the army?

Sousa: Brooklyn Scout Troop Eighty-Seven.

Daisy: Boy Scouts?

Sousa: We were kinda the bad boys of the Boy Scouts.

🔗 permalink: We were kinda the bad boys of the Boy Scouts.

But I don't believe that. It all stinks of a red herring because I highly doubt that the writers would be so cruel as to kill off Fitz before the series comes to an end.

Everything is fine. We will all see another epic Fitzsimmons reunion soon, even if she no longer remembers who Fitz is.

Evil - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 11
(Jessica Brooks/ABC)

Okay, so maybe I'm in denial.

Unfortunately, Nathaniel, being the evil person he is, dug too deep into Simmons' memories of Fitz, in turn causing her to forget her husband.

On the bright side, she has Deke with her to remind her of who Fitz is. As an honorary member of the Fitzsimmons team, he is the right man for the job. And who doesn't want more bonding scenes between Deke and his Nana?

Or maybe Simmons remembering Fitz will be as simple as removing D.I.A.N.A. Either way, Fitz and Simmons have been through a lot worse than this, haven't they?

Daisy - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 11
(ABC)

Deke's not the only person who is there for Simmons; Daisy will fight anyone who threatens her chosen sister.

Yes, Kora is her biological sister, but Simmons is Daisy's real family. She will choose her over Kora, someone she just met and never knew existed until very recently, every single time.

Daisy: Sybil dropped Kora in my lap because they knew I’d want to save her. The thing is, I already have a sister to save. Her name is Jemma Simmons.

🔗 permalink: Sybil dropped Kora in my lap because they knew I’d want to save her. The thing is, I already…

If anyone argues that the found family trope isn't the best trope on television, show them the scene where Daisy calls Simmons her sister. It's chill-inducing and will bring a tear to anyone's eye — given they have a heart.

Also, can we talk about how amazing Chloe Bennet — the portrayer of Daisy — was during this hour? She portrayed the fear and hurt of potentially losing her family so well while maintaining her badass reputation.

Daisy's determination to save Simmons from Nathaniel proves that the relationships between their characters are the best thing that the show does. The scene between Daisy and Mack was also a great demonstration of this strength.

Mack - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 11
(ABC)

Mack has always been like a big brother to Daisy and has offered her some wise advice over the years. So it wasn't a surprise when he was the one to tell her that it will be okay when things inevitably change.

Enoch predicted that their fight against Nathaniel and the Chronicoms would be their last mission as a team, and Daisy has had a difficult time accepting that that may be the case.

Daisy: Mack, you guys are my family. I don’t know who I am without you guys.

Mack: No, Daisy-

Daisy: No, it’s-

Mack: You know exactly who you are, with anyone.

🔗 permalink: You know exactly who you are, with anyone.

But change is inescapable, and that doesn't mean that Daisy's future will be awful as a result. It's looking like it will be the very opposite due to the crazy amount of sparks flying between her and Sousa.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has always, without fail, nailed the chemistry between all their paired up characters — platonic and romantic.

From Daisy and Simmons to Daisy and Sousa, every single relationship is a joy to watch, and this episode reminded us of what we'll be losing when the series comes to an end. A spin-off of Daisy and Sousa, anyone?

Kora - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 11
(ABC)

Is Kora a lost cause? All signs are pointing towards yes.

Daisy might have been able to get through to her, but Kora is hellbent on "helping" people by killing others.

Isn't it funny when villains insist on killing for the greater good, but judge anyone else who arguably does the same? May became the Cavalry for making that difficult choice, and Kora despises her for it.

Kora: Every child loves her mother.

Daisy: Not every mother loves her back.

Kora: I’m sorry you didn’t get that.

Daisy: I’m sorry you threw it away.

🔗 permalink: I’m sorry you threw it away.

The main difference between heroes and villains, at least in this scenario, is the presence of a moral code. Unfortunately, it looks like Kora does not have one.

After a bit of a meltdown, she was fine with Nathaniel, her kind-of boyfriend, killing her mother and blowing up multiple S.H.I.E.L.D. bases. At this point, she's just as bad as the Malick family reject.

Alison DiLaurentis - Pretty Little Liars

What did you think, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Fanatics?

Is something wrong with Fitz, did Fitzsimmons have a baby, or could it be something else? How fantastic was Mack's talk with Sousa about his intentions?

And Grant Ward has to show up on the finale in some sort of way, right?

The Lighthouse loses track of the Zephyr because it moves above the satellites.

Coulson and the team return with Kora. She wants to help them by becoming an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Kora tells them that they can kill thirty people now to save thousands of lives in the future.

Nathaniel tries to extract Simmons' memories from her to get Fitz's location, but her implant blocks him.

Nathaniel brings in Deke to get her to talk. They beat him up pretty bad until Nathaniel sees the glowing lights of the implant on Simmons' neck.

Daisy, Sousa, and Mack sneak out and take the quinjet to save Simmons.

Kora takes out the Lighthouse's power with her abilities. Their firewalls come down, allowing Sybil to get to them.

Nathaniel can't extract the implant because only Simmons can use the device that does so.

He goes into her mind to find Fitz.

Power returns to the Lighthouse. Coulson tries to slow Sybil down from obtaining communication files.

Sybil releases the prisoners the team took from Afterlife. Kora kills Durant.

Kora wants to kill Grant Ward next.

In Simmons' mind, Nathaniel watches as Fitz, Simmons, and Enoch build the upgraded Zephyr.

May shows Kora Jiaying's dead body and tells her that she died protecting Daisy from Nathaniel.

Nathaniel is unable to find Fitz, but Simmons ends up forgetting Fitz altogether.

Kora tries to kill May. Garrett teleports in and takes Kora away.

Sybil accessed the location of S.H.I.E.L.D. bases.

Those in the quinjet approach the Zephyr, but Chronicom ships arrive. They fire at the S.H.I.E.L.D. bases from space, including the Triskelion.

If you thought the timeline was majorly messed up before Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 10, it's well past a disaster now.

So many terrible things happened, and to say that the future is not looking good for the team would be an understatement.

With only three episodes to go on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7, it makes one wonder if every character will be granted a happy ending.

Gordon - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 10
(Jessica Brooks/ABC)

Jiaying is dead, as well as Gordon.

Obviously, these deaths were never supposed to happen this early, and the consequences are sure to be significant.

The huge concern right out of the gate is Daisy's fate. Now that Jiaying is gone before she had a chance to give birth to Daisy, it would seem plausible that Daisy will somehow disappear forever.

Mack: Stuck in the 1980s. Used to have nostalgia for them. That is very gone.

🔗 permalink: Stuck in the 1980s. Used to have nostalgia for them. That is very gone.

I highly doubt that that will happen. Daisy has gone through too much throughout the run of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to die on the last season. Plus, she's a fan favorite who many people want to see end up happy.

So, yes, while at first, it might seem like all hope for Daisy's well being is gone, anything can happen when time travel is involved.

Mackenzie - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 10
(Jessica Brooks/ABC)

Maybe they'll be able to go back in time again and prevent these catastrophic events from happening. Or maybe they'll deal with time travel similar to how they did in Avengers: Endgame with multiple timelines occurring at once.

Let's be honest, time travel has always been confusing. In my opinion, though, the way that they explained it in the fourth Avengers film made the most sense out of all the time travel films.

If they somehow incorporate the events of what is not only the most extravagant MCU movie but also the biggest movie of all time, that would be quite impressive.

Given that the show has not paid much attention to the recent events of the MCU films, it would be a nice send-off for the team and to remind the fans of the show's rightful place in this massive fictional world.

Yo-Yo - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 10
(Jessica Brooks/ABC)

It's interesting to see that Jiaying and Gordon have an inherent goodness in them, something that is long gone in the future on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2.

Their changed behavior is definitely representative of the commentary on the nature versus nurture argument.

Simmons: Say what you will about the 50s’, at least it doesn’t know chivalry is dead.

🔗 permalink: Say what you will about the 50s’, at least it doesn’t know chivalry is dead.

Jiaying and Gordon were not born evil, they were unfortunately made that way when HYDRA experimented on Jiaying, forcing her to hate all non-Inhumans.

And with Gordon as her trusty right-hand man, he went along with her hatred.

Of course, it's sad to see them die long before they were ever supposed to, but at least they never turn into the Inhumans we first met who wanted to eradicate all normal humans from the Earth.

Coulson - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 10
(Jessica Brooks/ABC)

What is terribly sad about Jiaying's death is that Daisy had to witness it. Hasn't she been through enough? Why not squeeze in a little more death before the series concludes?

Daisy has had to watch Coulson die multiple times, and now the same thing is true with her mother. But this time, Daisy was able to witness Jiaying before she was experimented on by Daniel Whitehall.

Daisy: Growing up, I never knew my mom. And when I finally found her, she wasn’t who I hoped she would be.

Jiaying: She hurt you. I can’t speak to your mother’s reasons, but for me, sometimes trying to do the right thing comes out all wrong.

🔗 permalink: She hurt you. I can’t speak to your mother’s reasons, but for me, sometimes trying to do the…

It was easy to tell that Daisy was somewhat jealous of her sister, Kora, and the fact that she got to experience the compassionate side of their mother. That's something she never quite had.

If she does, in fact, physically survive her mother's premature death, at the very least, she will have Sousa to be there for her as those two are getting quite chummy.

He will need to hold up his promise of being there when she falls, but there is no doubt that he will. Sousa is quite square, after all.

Nathaniel Malick - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 10
(Jessica Brooks/ABC)

Anyone else fed up with Nathaniel Malick yet?

This guy is sadistic, manipulative, and keeps on making things quite difficult for the S.H.I.E.L.D. team. It will be oh so satisfying when Daisy ultimately kills him — fingers crossed.

His endgame is quite typical for an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. villain, and it's not too far off from Jiaying's own in the 2010s. The only difference is his need to create anarchy for the sake of anarchy.

Plus, Jiaying's plan was clear cut with wanting Inhumans to rule the world. Nathaniel's is nonsensical and is bound to blow up in his face soon. Plus, he really is just a pawn being used by Sybil for her own selfish gain.

Unfortunately for the team, though, he's surrounding himself with powerful people and digging up ghosts with direct ties to them.

Simmons and Garrett - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 10
(Jessica Brooks/ABC)

Having Bill Paxton's son, James Paxton, play the younger version of his character, John Garrett, is probably one of the coolest things Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. could have done for its last season. Other than getting Daniel Sousa back, of course.

Garrett was arguably the first major villain the show has ever had, and he was responsible for Grant Ward's induction into HYDRA.

Coulson: You must be Kora.

Kora: And you’re Agent Coulson.

Garrett: Oh, call him Phil. I’ve seen it all bud, everything you did to me.

Coulson: I’m sorry, have we met?

Garrett: Not yet. But I got a sneak peek of my future and you play a big part in it. Here’s a hint, you vaporized me with a space laser.

Coulson: Garrett. Clever. Digging up our greatest hits.

Garrett: I’m not even mad. They let me watch you die a bunch of times, made me feel better.

Coulson: Oh, yeah? Which one was your favorite?

Garrett: Uh, oh! Long-haired creepo stabbed you with a pointy stick. That was funny.

Coulson: You haven’t changed a bit. And I’m aware that statement makes no sense.

🔗 permalink: Garrett. Clever. Digging up our greatest hits.

He's a major player to bring back for the show's last few episodes, and it was so much fun watching him interact with Coulson after he learned about his future thanks to Sybil.

Garrett was an interesting character that Bill Paxton played so well, so it was a treat to see him played by his son.

The question for the future is, though, what will happen is he dies in the 80s'? Does that maybe mean Ward will return and he'll be good? There are so many possibilities for where the next episodes will take us, and I can't wait to see them.

Mack - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 10
(Jessica Brooks/ABC)

Simmons is, objectively, in a terrible position right now, as well as Deke and assumingly Fitz.

For most of the episode, we assumed that Nathaniel was going after Jiaying to steal her powers, but he was after Simmons all along. He wants her to lead him to Fitz because Nathaniel is sick of him sending the team after him and messing with his plans.

But Simmons speculated early on that it might not be Fitz who has been guiding them through this time travel journey like they all thought. She confessed her worries about him being dead to Deke, who refused to believe that was the case.

Sousa: I think I’m a fan of the twenty-first century.

Daisy: Yeah, don’t get your hopes up. We make a mean prosthetic, but, uh, Fascism is back.

Sousa: You mean the thing I helped wipe out ten years ago?

Daisy: Yeah, the past won’t leave us alone.

🔗 permalink: Yeah, the past won’t leave us alone.

Like Deke, I also refuse to believe that. Instead, I hope they find Fitz, have a nice little family reunion, and get away from Nathaniel and Garrett.

If only things ever went that well on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. But on the bright side, this means that Fitz's reappearance is closer than ever — something we have waited so long for.

Coulson and Mack - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 10
(Jessica Brooks/ABC)

Overall, this episode dealt with the idea of stealing, hence the title.

There was Nathaniel physically stealing Inhumans' powers and giving them to people he felt were more deserving of them. And then there were the stolen moments between Daisy and Jiaying that Sousa was talking about.

It was an interesting concept and was definitely executed well enough to get the point across.

Daisy: You really are square, aren’t you?

Sousa: Harsh, but yes.

🔗 permalink: Harsh, but yes.

However, there was a ton of plot happening in one episode, in stark contrast to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 9, that moved the story forward very fast.

It would have been nice if there were a couple more character moments that dealt with the idea of "stolen" to give the hour more time to breathe. But, like the rest of the season so far, it was for the most part, successful.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is not holding back for their final season.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 9, Elizabeth Henstridge's directorial debut, contained all the elements of an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode at its best.

There was weird science, hilarious moments (every single try to stop Enoch was priceless), and heartbreak, all intertwined together to produce an outstanding hour that won't soon be forgotten. At its core, though, it was all about family.

Good Chronicom - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 9
(Mitch Haaseth/ABC)

It took nine episodes, but we have finally witnessed the first major death of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7.

The stakes have been high this season, and it was only a matter of time before a member of the team lost their life. Unfortunately, that person, or Chronicom, was Enoch.

Daisy: Enoch, the team will carry on the mission. We will survive because of you. Thank you.

Enoch: You are most welcome. But Agent Johnson, while your friends will indeed survive, the team will not.

Daisy: Wha-what do you mean?

Enoch: I have seen the future. Carry on this mission, cherish it for it will be your last mission together.

Daisy: That’s, that’s not possible. I, Enoch this is my family.

Enoch: Of course, yet this is the nature of family. I have seen it countless times, on countless worlds. People arrive, so we celebrate, and people leave us, so we grieve. We do what we can with the time in between, but the cycle is always there. No one escapes it. Not even me.

Coulson: Which means you’re not alone. You’re a part of that cycle.

Daisy: Like every other living thing.

Enoch: Fitz, he was my best friend.

Daisy: And you were a good friend to Fitz. You were a good friend to all of us.

Enoch: As I have always…

🔗 permalink: As I have always…

Enoch, while a late addition, truly became a part of the family, and his death is sure to have an impact on multiple characters.

He was always willing to sacrifice his life in service of saving the team, and while he has not always been treated as kindly as he should have been, it was a fitting end for the Chronicom with a heart.

What makes his death sting even more, though, is that he did not get to say goodbye to his best friend, Leopold Fitz.

Jemma Simmons - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 9
(Mitch Haaseth/ABC)

Fitz and Enoch's friendship has always been a complex one, especially with Fitz's short temper. But it was always apparent how much Enoch cared for Fitz.

After the necessity of Fitz being away with his location unknown, we have seen Enoch become closer to the rest of the team as a result.

He was a part of their found family, and his loss, particularly since it was, in the end, a sacrifice to save the rest of them, is sure to be devastating.

Coulson: The time drive is stuck. It keeps looping back on itself over and over again.

Daisy: Like feedback.

Coulson: I’ve been thinking about it like a record skipping. Every time I say that you give me the same look. Vinyl’s back. You’re supposed to know records again.

🔗 permalink: I’ve been thinking about it like a record skipping. Every time I say that you give me the…

I know I personally cried big buckets of tears during his send-off scene with Daisy and Coulson. They were a surprising pair to be with him in his final moments, but it somehow made sense.

Both Daisy and Coulson have struggled with the concept of death and coming to terms with it, which also made them the perfect duo to remember they were in the time loop.

Coulson - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 9
(ABC)

Coulson's death, his real death, does seem inevitable at this point, doesn't it?

If this episode didn't convince you, I don't know what will.

They have been alluding to it slightly on the past few episodes, but hearing Coulson talk about his immortal nature as an LMD all but sealed the nail in his coffin, to put it frankly.

When he died on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 5 Episode 22, Coulson was at peace and ready to die. He never wanted to be brought back, and yet, he was. And it was for a good cause.

But once they're done with this mission, with stopping the Chronicoms, it'll be time for him to shut down. As he said, the time loop was a metaphor for what he will have to endure if he continues living on in his LMD body.

Enoch - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 9
(Mitch Haaseth/ABC)

Coulson will have to watch as all his friends and family die, as he did in the time loop. That's not any way to live, and it is not what Coulson deserves after all he has been through.

It is infinitely harder to be the one still living than it is to be the one who dies. They have to endure the pain for much longer while the other one's pain is gone in the blink of an eye.

As the old saying goes, dying is easy, living is harder.

It's an interesting concept to think about and to discuss, as Enoch did with Daisy and Coulson as he himself was on his death bed.

And it's the perfect explanation as to why Daisy can never seem to let Coulson go.

Daisy Johnson - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 9
(ABC)

We can all agree that Coulson is a father figure for Daisy. He came into her life and brought her into a team that became like a family when she had no one in the world she could trust.

Losing Coulson is one of the hardest things she will ever have to go through, and, unfortunately, something she has had to endure multiple times.

Coulson: I don’t like watching you die. I don’t like watching any of you die, over and over.

Daisy: We’ll figure this out. You know we will.

Coulson: Sure, but in the meantime, it is soul-crushing, if I even have a soul.

Daisy: Don’t talk like that again. Of course, you have a soul.

Coulson: Don’t say that. Don’t say “of course.” I’m not who I was. And this thing, I was Max Headroom for a year. And you know what? Being trapped in a time loop, watching my friends die, helpless to stop it, it’s not some time-space anomaly. It’s a damn metaphor. This is my life now.

Daisy: Does it not occur to you that I might know something about watching my friend die over and over again?

Coulson: This is different.

Daisy: Is it?

Coulson: I will watch all of you die, one by one. Everyone I love. Because someone decided I should. I’m a machine now. I have programming.

🔗 permalink: I will watch all of you die, one by one. Everyone I love. Because someone decided I should….

But, as Enoch said, death is imminent, and families are ever-changing as a result. People cycle in and out of our lives, whether we want them to or not. That's life, and that is what is surely going to happen when the series comes to a close.

The sooner Daisy can accept this, the sooner she will be able to let Coulson, and herself, move on.

Sure, it's going to be devastating, but it will be what is best for everyone. Plus, this time, Daisy will have someone to support her after Coulson is gone.

Team - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 9
(ABC)

The hinting towards Sousa and Daisy having feelings for one another has finally come to a head, and it did not disappoint.

There was just something about these two that made almost everyone want them together, even people who loved Sousa with Peggy on Marvel's Agent Carter.

It didn't really make much sense, we just knew that they worked. Thankfully, Sousa was able to spell it out for us.

Daisy: Every time I ask you for help, you say yes. Even if I don’t ask, you’re waiting here to make sure I rest, or whatever. Why? Be honest.

Sousa: Honest? I know your type.

Daisy: My what now?

Sousa: I know people like you. Some of my favorite people are people like you. Focused on the greater good, even at your own expense. You want people to think you like being alone, even though you always end up back with friends. You hate losing.

Daisy: Everyone hates losing.

Sousa: Yeah, but you all keep running at the problem full tilt until you either solve it or slam headlong into a brick door.

Daisy: Some of those walls were literal.

Sousa: I know.

Daisy: But how does that-

Sousa: Because when people like you run into those walls, you should have someone there to pick you back up.

Daisy: And you, you like to be that someone?

Sousa: Not for everyone. It helps if they’re fun to be around and if they say what they mean and if they have that superpower where they can rock things around, which is very impressive.

Daisy: That’s, um, that is awfully specific.

Sousa: Mmhm.

🔗 permalink: Mmhm.

Daisy is willing to do whatever it takes to save the world, and Sousa lives for being the rock that others can lean on.

And while Daisy never thinks of herself first, and Sousa has proven that he always does.

Daisy - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 9
(ABC)

Sousa is willing to do anything for Daisy, and they've only known each other for a little while. It is happening quite fast, but it doesn't feel unnatural.

Throughout the episode, she did not understand why he listened to her no matter what. Finally, she came to the conclusion that it's because he's a good man.

Sousa: Hey, what are you doing up?

Daisy: Why do you care?

Sousa: Because you don’t.

🔗 permalink: Because you don’t.

Daisy is not used to being able to trust someone so quickly, but she does trust Sousa. He is exactly what she needs, and she is exactly what he needs.

The two of them, more so than a lot of people, deserve to settle down and have a happy ending. It just makes sense now that they would find that in each other.

Let's just hope beyond all hope that they actually get that. It would be cruel to tease their happiness just to snatch it away so fast.

Time Storm - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 9
(Mitch Haaseth/ABC)

While Sousa sprung at the chance to help Daisy, so did the rest of the team.

It was amazing, and yet unsurprising, how quickly all of them believed Coulson and Daisy when they would tell them about the time loop and what they needed to do to get out of it.

The whole team would put all of their trust and faith into one of their own at the drop of a hat. It doesn't matter the circumstances, and that is why they are a family.

Coulson: That did not go well.

Sousa: Where did he get all those weapons?

May: Deke’s dead?

Daisy: Very.

Mack: Don’t we need to be sad about that?

Daisy: We do not.

🔗 permalink: We do not.

The found family trope is one of the best ones in the film and television industry, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. excels at portraying it.

It shows that people have agency and that you can find love in anyone. And this episode more than proved that with their willingness to comply with Daisy and Coulson's orders.

Simmons - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 9
(Mitch Haaseth/ABC)

My heart sunk to the bottom of my chest the moment Simmons was remembering something awful.

The first thought that popped into my brain, and I am sure a lot of other people's as well, was that Fitz was dead. But, after more thought, that can't be the case. And not just because that kind of thinking would send me into some deep denial.

Daisy: What’s happening?

May: Time drive overloaded.

Sousa: Any chance that’s twenty-first century slang for worked normally?

🔗 permalink: Any chance that’s twenty-first century slang for worked normally?

It is highly unlikely that the show would kill Fitz offscreen when he is a fan-favorite character and has been with the series since Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 1. Plus, he and Simmons have gone through way too much for an ending like this.

We will see Fitz again. But what was Simmons remembering then? It sounded like she was muttering something along the lines of "what have I done?" and "I'm sorry." I also thought I heard her say Yo-Yo and Mack's names, but I could be wrong.

Whatever Simmons remembered, we should all be worried, given her reaction. Enoch's death might not be the only one we witness this season.

Daisy wakes up and exits her healing chamber.

The time driver overloaded and they are trapped in a time storm.

They jumped within a jump, tearing a hole in spacetime and pulling them into a vortex which will make them cease to exist.

A radiation flare burns Mack's eyes and traps Yo-Yo in the quintet.

Daisy wakes up in her healing chamber, reliving the same day.

Daisy saves Mack from being hit by the radiation flare. She tells Simmons and Sousa that she is time looping.

Daisy wakes up again, and this time she wakes up Coulson from his charge. She tells him she keeps repeating the same events and he tells her they've had this conversation before.

Coulson claims that she can't remember because she died again. Every time she dies, she gets rebooted.

To Coulson's knowledge, Daisy has died fourteen times and they have been through this loop eighty-seven times. It's probably more, though, because Daisy doesn't wake him up every time.

Coulson believes they are the only two that remember because they wake up in futuristic healing pods.
