Which TV Shows almost had a spinoff series? Read on to see why shows like Revenge, 24, Will & Grace, and more saw plans of a spinoff fail to come through.

There have been many great shows, and for some of the lucky few, an even better spinoff has emerged.

From shows like NCIS, Better Call Saul, and more recently, House of the Dragon, audiences have truly been spoilt.

But just because the original show was a success, it doesn't always mean the spinoff will be a success.

Heck, in some cases, the spinoff series doesn't even make it to air.

Below are five examples of some planned spinoff shows that unfortunately never made it onto the small screen, with reasons provided as to why that never happened.

Revenge

Emily & Nolan Concern
(ABC Television)

When the original four-season run of Revenge ended in 2015, the nature of the final episode instantly led to rumours that the show could return. Could Nolan continue to help those seeking vengeance? Would Charlotte progress further down the dark path the show has hinted at?

A few months after the show ended, ABC bosses even announced that it was possible that Revenge could return. For fans of the show, that possibility became a reality when in 2019, it was announced that a spinoff series was officially in the works.

Although only a few details were shared, fans learnt that show creator Mike Kelley (who ran Revenge for the first two seasons) would lead the spinoff.

With the story slated to focus on a Latinx immigrant in Malibu who wants to seek revenge on a wealthy family who apparently caused the death of her mother, the downfall of her family and the cause of a global pandemic.

Gabriel Mann as Nolan Photo
(ABC)

It had all the ingredients that made fans fall in love with the original. Plus, an original character, heavily rumoured to be Nolan, would return to aid the new lead character in their quest for Revenge. But what went wrong?

Apparently, Covid-19 was the blame. As the central story would have concentrated on a pandemic, it has been claimed that in 2020 show bosses were worried would mirror real life too much and alienate fans.

Was it the right decision? Probably. At that time, it would have felt wrong for a nighttime soap opera to explore a subject that was so raw at the time. However, there's nothing stopping Revenge from coming back now, even if it does remove the pandemic aspect of the storyline.

Game of Thrones

As previously mentioned, House of the Dragon is one of the most successful spinoff series of the past couple of years. However, there was almost a completely different Game of Thrones spinoff.

The Last Goodbye - Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 5
(Helen Sloan/HBO)

With two titles linked to the project, Bloodmoon & The Long Night, it was one of four shows that HBO considered developing before settling on House of the Dragon.

Naomi Watts was to lead the project, and with the series slated to focus on the events of the long night, 5,000 years before the original timeline of Game of Thrones, it had fans excited.

But it wasn't meant to be. After the unaired pilot episode received harsh reviews, Bloodmoon was scrapped. Likely, it worked out well, as if Bloodmoon was developed, it's quite likely that HBO would not have commissioned House of the Dragon.

Plus, considering the negative reception of the final season of Game of Thrones, it is wise that HBO brought the show back with a strong spinoff rather than one that would have left even more of a sour taste in the viewer's mouths.

Smallville

Oliver Saves Clark - Smallville
(WB/ The CW)

Before the 2018 Aquaman movie was made, for a while, it looked like the CW show Smallville would produce its own spinoff show focusing on Aquaman, played by Justin Hartley.

With a pilot episode made and also now available for viewers to watch, there were detailed plans on where the show would go, Including crossover episodes with Smallville, environmental threats, and mythology storylines.

There was much buzz and favourable reviews towards the series, and therefore, it came as a huge surprise to everyone involved when the show was dropped. But why?

The reason Aquaman never made it onto the air is all down to the merging of WB and UPN, which later became what is now known as The CW. With The CW now in charge, they axed Aquaman in favor of The Game and Runaway.

Looking Concerned - Supergirl Season 3 Episode 22

Was it the right decision? It depends. The CW was wise to develop The Game, as it lasted an impressive 9 seasons. However, The Runaway was axed after 3 episodes, failing to make an impact or gain an audience.

On the other hand, there was still a desire for Aquaman – when its pilot episode appeared on iTunes, viewers jumped at the chance to watch the episode so much so that it became the most downloaded tv show of that week. That alone suggests that the show deserved at least one full season.

Even if Justin Hartley was disappointed at the time, he wouldn't remain down for long as he was soon cast as Oliver Queen in Smallville whilst Alan Ritchson (pictured above) continued in his role as Aquaman on Smallville.

24

After the hit fox show 24 originally ended in 2010, it returned in 2014 for 24: Live Another Day. The return was such a smash that talks soon switched to developing another series, this time very different from the original concept.

Jack Bauer Is Back
(FOX)

Not only would it have featured a female lead, but each season would have featured a new legal case and a fresh set of characters. It sounded like the fresh take that the show ended in order for it to continue flying high. Especially after 24: Legacy failed to live up to expectations.

But, of course, if the show is being featured in this article, that means that it never worked out. And to add salt to the wound, a spinoff that would have focused on a young Jack Bauer was also axed at the same time.

Although very few details were shared as to why the shows never made it to the air, it was stated that Fox is continuously looking at ways to bring 24 back.

So whilst the spinoffs didn't work then, maybe another could pop up in the near future. Or, as Keifer Sutherland recently said that Jack Bauer's story is unfinished, maybe the original show will return sooner rather than later?

Corey Hawkins on 24: Legacy
(FOX)

Will & Grace

Will & Grace was a much-loved show, but even more, loved was Karen Walker. In fact, she was so loved that a spinoff centered on the character was almost made not just once but twice.

The closest viewers got to a spinoff was after the American Sitcom ended in 2006. NBC was keen on the idea, but when Joey, the spinoff from Friends, was an ultimate disaster, they feared the same would happen to a Karen spinoff.

Rather than see the character's legacy become tarnished, the spinoff was stopped from happening. Then, of course, when Will & Grace returned and ended again, there were talks of a Karen Walker spinoff.

Checking Things Out - Will & Grace Season 9 Episode 1
(Chris Haston/NBC)

Unfortunately, it never went any further. And Megan Mullally, who played Karen, even said that the spinoff wasn't very real.

There you go! Would a Karen Walker spinoff have worked?

Considering that when Will & Grace returned, it failed to gain its record-breaking viewership, it's somewhat surprising that a spinoff was even considered at all.

These are just five potential spin-off series that never came to fruition. But you never know; for shows like Revenge and 24, there's still a chance that, in the future, these shows could return.

However, whether that'll be in the form of a spin-off, reboot, or straight-up sequel remains to be seen.

The SImpsons got renewed at TCA. Could a Scream Queens revival be on the way? Could Fox really bring 24 back? Get all the details right here.

A lot of Fox news from TCA today.

There was a double renewal, updates on the potential return of two popular series, as well as some tidbits on the future of shows that have yet to be renewed.

Homer and Marge Are Shocked - The Simpsons
(FOX)

The Simpsons has been renewed for an additional two seasons, bringing the iconic animated series to 32 seasons and a colossal 713 episodes.

"Woo hoo! 32 Seasons! Watch your back 'Meet the Press,'" said Homer Simpson in a press release.

The Simpsons Season 30 is currently averaging 4.8 million total viewers and a 1.9 rating in the adults 18-49 demo.

It remains a hit and will be around for several years if it continues to keep up the pace.

The Simpsons joins The Masked Singer, and  So You Think You Can Dance as Fox's renewals for the 2019-2020 TV season.

Meanwhile, Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier weighed in on the potential Scream Queens revival that was mulled by Ryan Murphy earlier this week.

He admitted “there are no plans right now on Scream Queens” but “we take Ryan Murphy seriously when he wants to build something.”

Murphy wasn't exactly clear about where a potential revival for the series would land, but given that 20th Century Fox TV owns it, it was likely to wind up on one of the Fox stations.

The other possibility is that it moves to Hulu. The first two seasons are already on the streaming platform, so there's a chance it could find a new home there.

The Final Plan - Scream Queens
(FOX)

There was also much chatter about the future of Lethal Weapons after Damon Wayans strongly suggested that he was done with the controversial drama after its third season.

Related: Damon Wayans: I Quit Lethal Weapon!

“Those comments predate me, but in speaking with the producers [and] with [Warner Bros,], I’m told that — and I think the show reflects it — that they’re walking in lock-step,” Collier told reporters.

“I actually think that show has really hit its stride well.” While there's no word on a fourth season right now, Collier did say he's been impressed with the show's ratings “over the last few weeks.”

Lethal Weapon Season 3 Leads
(Peter Yang/FOX)

The show has remained steady with it season average since returning from its holiday hiatus, so that's good news.

However, the show has been filled with controversy over the last year, so it's possible that Fox will want to put the series to bed for good this season.

There were two 24 projects in the works this development season, but Collier confirmed at TCA that neither of those projects will be moving forward.

He did stress that it was "a blessing” to have the 24 “legacy and a responsibility to bring it back.”

The previous attempt at 24 without Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer did not go down well with critics and audiences. As such, it was canceled after just one season.

24: Legacy may be a bust, but the franchise could be returning to its roots for the latest series. It will focus on a young Jack Bauer. Get all the details.

The 24 franchise will never die.

Fox is developing a 24 prequel series following a young Jack Bauer, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Original creators Joel Surnow and Bob Cochran are working on an idea “that tells the origin story of how Jack Bauer became Jack Bauer.

The report goes on to say that while the series is still in the early stages of development, it could be ready to air as soon as midseason.

Kiefer Sutherland starred as Jack on the Fox classic from 2001-10 and appeared in 2014's one-off revival as the character.

Fox has maintained that the franchise is not dead ever since 24: Legacy, starring Corey Hawkins was axed after just one season last year.

The franchise is a viable brand for Fox that's recognized worldwide, so it makes sense that the network would be looking to bring it back in some capacity.

24: Legacy struggled in the ratings. It averaged 5.1 million viewers and a 1.4 rating for its first and only season. While the numbers may seem respectable, they are inflated by a Superbowl inflated premiere.

Related: Designated Survivor Canceled After Two Seasons!

The series finale secured just 3.4 million viewers and a 0.8 rating.

It was revealed in November 2017 that a new incarnation of the series with a female lead was in the works and that it would move away from the world of terrorism.

The status of that series is unclear, but it makes sense that Fox would want to launch a series about a young Jack Bauer.

It would certainly make for an excellent marketing opportunity to get fans who ditched the franchise to return to see just how a prequel would pan out.

Do you think it's time to let the franchise die out, or would you be on board for more episodes?

24: Legacy may have been a dud for Fox, but that does not mean the network is letting the 24 franchise go.

According to Deadline, the network has handed a script commitment to another series set in the universe, but there are some major differences from the other series.

The race against the clock format will remain the same, with the episodes playing out in real time, but that appears to be the only thing that will remain the same.

Instead of being an action-packed drama, this new iteration is said to follow a female prosecutor who finds out about a legal conspiracy.

This presents quite the conundrum because the inmate in the frame is on death row and facing execution. On top of that, the lead character was the one who helped prosecute him.

Tony Almeda on Point - 24: Legacy
(FOX)

Desperate to find out the truth, the character would try to prove whether the inmate is someone who had nothing to do with the crime.

It does sound interesting, but it does seem rather silly to stamp the 24 name on a show that appears to be a complete 180 from the original series.

The report does state that this new iteration would be an anthology and would focus on new characters in a new location if it is renewed for additional seasons.

The series comes from 24 executive producers, Howard Gordon and Jeremy Doner.

Even More Tense - 24: Legacy
(FOX)

After canceling 24: Legacy earlier this year, Fox maintained that a return trip to the franchise was not being ruled out.

”We are really exploring what the future, the next version of 24 might be, maybe in more anthological storytelling,” Fox chairman Dana Walden said during the 2017 Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour.

“The same kind of ticking-clock format but apply it to something else,” then-Fox Entertainment president David Madden added. “It will have the same urgency but may not be set in the CTU, it will have same style and urgency but in a different venue.”

Feels Good - 24: Legacy Season 1 Episode 4
(Fox)

24: Legacy went largely ignored by viewers. It had a solid launch behind the Super Bowl earlier this year, but it dropped in the ratings throughout its run.

Fox had a lot to speak about during its appearance at the Television Critics Association summer press tour.

Fox chairman Dana Walden opened up about the possibility of having a third series set in the 24 universe.

She said that producers “have a really exciting idea [for a reboot] that I thought was very compelling, but we’re at very early stages.”

The most recent series in the franchise was 24: Legacy. It failed to keep up the pace in the ratings after a huge opening after the Super Bowl in February.

The First Hour - 24: Legacy
(FOX)

24: Legacy Season 1 ultimately averaged 5.1 million viewers and a 1.4 rating. It was not enough to sustain another season, but Fox was confident it could milk another series from the franchise.

Maybe viewers just don't want to watch a show that does not include Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer, and there's little chance of any sort of involvement from Sutherland.

He is a series regular on ABC's Designated Survivor.

Kirkman at the Summit - Designated Survivor Season 1 Episode 20

Meanwhile, Fox President David Madden opened up about the fate of Wayward Pines which has not been on the air since last summer.

While many thought it was canceled, Madden claims that “we don’t know yet.”

He continued, “M. Night has talked to both [Fox CEO] Dana [Walden] and me recently about the possibilities of what a third season could be.”

Wayward Pines Season 2 Episode 9
(Serguei Bashlakov/FOX)

Wayward Pines Season 2 slipped in the ratings to 2.4 million viewers and a 0.7 rating. That's not a terrible figure for summer.

But who is to say the same amount of viewers would return to sample another season of the horror drama? For fans, it's not a straight-up cancellation.

It could return… one day.

The network also confirmed to reporters that a King of the Hill revival has been discussed, but stressed that negotiations were in the early stages.

“I would like to explore that [further] with Mike (Judge) and Greg (Daniels),” Walden revealed.

“Given what’s going on in the country [under President Trump], I think they have a point of view about how those characters would respond. But it was one meeting. I hope to revisit it.”

The original series ran from 1997 to 2009.

The clock has stopped ticking on the latest iteration of the 24 franchise. Fox has decided not to move forward with another season of 24: Legacy.

The First Hour - 24: Legacy
(FOX)

The Corey Hawkins-fronted thriller wrapped up in April after a 12-episode freshman run which was ravaged by critics and largely ignored by viewers.

Fox opted to debut the show out of the Superbowl earlier this year, and as expected the show had a strong debut. It garnered 17.6 million viewers and a 6.1 rating among adults 18-49.

However, the show later dropped to as low as 3.2 million viewers and a 0.8 rating, ultimately averaging 5.1 million viewers and a 1.4 rating.

One Last Kiss? - 24: Legacy
(Fox)

The writing was on the wall when Fox decided to delay the decision on whether to order another season of the espionage drama, with fans wondering if the show was being quietly canceled.

Turns out, that was the case, and there will be no more episodes of this iteration. If you watched 24: Legacy online, you will already know that the series was completely different to the original 24.

Carlos Bernard was the sole actor from the original series to make an appearance, and that's likely part of the reason why fans were so frustrated with it.

Even More Tense - 24: Legacy
(FOX)

When the series was announced, there was an outcry from fans who wanted Kiefer Sutherland to stage a comeback as Jack Bauer.

However, Kiefer was too busy working on Designated Survivor to make a return.

With the news that 24: Legacy is toast, it has been revealed that Fox is not closing the door on the franchise quite yet, with Howard Gordon and Brian Grazer working on new ideas to keep the franchise alive.

Searching For Carter - 24: Legacy
(FOX)

These new ideas are said to be for an anthology series, which would make sense considering the success of anthology series these days.

Over to you, TV Fanatics. What do you think of 24: Legacy being canceled? Would you watch another iteration of the series?

Fox unveiled its 2017 schedule earlier today, with changes on every night, but Prison Break and 24: Legacy are still awaiting word on whether they will be back for additional seasons.

Fox bosses, Dana Walden and Gary Newman opened up about the fates of both series as the network's upfront presentation got underway.

“We would definitely consider doing more episodes,” Walden answered. “I know [the producers] are thinking about it.”

They did stress, however, that Prison Break is not the type of show that would be on the air every single season if it continued.

“We want to make it special,” Walden continued, hopefully.

Michael Needs a Way Out - Prison Break Season 5 Episode 6
(Fox)

Prison Break Season 5 has been a rare return to the form for the series which was originally canceled at the close of Season 4 in 2009.

The cast and crew have said some conflicting things regarding more episodes, with creator Paul Scheuring confirming Season 5 would be Michael Scofield's final adventure.

Now, that could mean that if the series were to continue, it would be a whole new cast all together and we do not know if that would be worth doing.

Could you imagine a Prison Break without the awesome characters?

Season 5 of Prison Break is averaging 2.8 million viewers and a 1.0 rating, which is on par with much of Fox's other drama series.

There are still three episodes left this season, so we will reserve further judgment until the season concludes.

24: Legacy, meanwhile, seems a little more up in the air than Prison Break, with Newman saying to TVLine they were “so happy with the creative” direction of the show.

The main issue seems to be surrounding whether Corey Hawkins would be available.

He's unable to commit to a new season right now due to his Tony Award-nominated run in Broadway’s Six Degrees of Separation.

Newman stressed that an additional season was "very much in the mix."

24: Legacy got a Superbowl launching pad, debuting with 17.6 million viewers and a 6.1 rating. The series failed to keep much of those ratings, ultimately averaging 5.1 million viewers and a 1.4 rating.

The chances of seeing the show back on the air without another reboot seem very slim.

What do you think about this?

Sound off below!

24: Legacy Season 1 Episode 4 proves that you cannot go home again when it becomes one of the most boring hours of the franchise ever aired.

Did anybody else look around the house for an old can of paint to slap onto a nearby wall while watching 24: Legacy Season 1 Episode 4?

I figured it would have been a decent competition, with a leg up to paint drying, since it doesn't come with any preconceived notions like terrorists or incredible action sequences.

For all the hype surrounding the return of the franchise and the exemplary cast, 24: Legacy kind of sucks.

Carter and Rebecca - 24: Legacy
(FOX)

I wish there was another way to put it, but none of the stars are being put to good use, and I hope like hell there is an editor to be fired somewhere and writers I normally admire aren't proud of what's airing.

When the very best moment of the hour is a character who is supposed to be intelligent pulling a Dennis the Menace-like behavior, well, there are issues.

John: You know, it struck me how easily you were able to turn against Nilaa without blinking. But it never occurred to me you could so something so terrible.

Henry: Wasn’t me.

John: Wasn’t you?

Henry: Wasn’t me.

🔗 permalink: Wasn’t me.

That was funny. Wasn't me. Wasn't me. Wasn't me. Nope. Wasn't me. It was not me. I'm not going to admit to it. Ok. Maybe it was me because I'm the last responsible party, and it was about oil.

OIL.

Good God. That's all they could come up with? Big oil for lives?

Just yuck all around on this one.

I See a Phone - 24: Legacy Season 1 Episode 4
(Fox)

Kudos to John for refusing to believe Nilaa had anything to do with what's going down with the terrorists and for sticking to his guns until he had evidence to prove her innocent.

But does anybody believe he'll stick to them long enough to free her with his dad and uncle Luis mere steps away and the words of her freedom dangling on his lips?

I don't. I want to believe John will do the right thing, but that would be too easy only four episodes into what is, so far, a terrible return to the franchise.

Allowing Nilaa to go free and John to be a good guy in all of this would only make things even more boring than they already are.

The best course of action at this point would be for dad and uncle to put the pressure on John so he's left wondering if he would rather be president than ensure Nilaa's safety and that of thousands of others at the hands of the terrorists.

Come on. If terrorists strike and John's in the know, he could come off a hero, ensuring himself the election. Surely that will draw him to the dark side for a minute or two, right?

Ugh.

A brief moment needs to be taken to remember Archie. He was better known as Drew, but his purpose was so wasted, we'll call him whatever the hell we want.

Amira was on screen for reasons unknown, acting as if she wasn't a seasoned terrorist in her own right without an understanding how to kill the poor kid she'd already made a mess of back at the high school.

When his mom told Amira how much Archie thought of her, Amira may (or may not have had) second thoughts about offing him. She may just wanted to say goodbye, as you do, before killing him with a giant syringe.

We may never know or care.

Feels Good - 24: Legacy Season 1 Episode 4
(Fox)

In the "we actually care less about these people" column, Nicole and Aisha had girly issues and some posturing led to Nicole's escape and her with two guns, in the street, aimed at Aisha and her new dude.

Of course, Isaac is pulling off the drug trade of the year with about 487 people surrounding him without a cop in sight. But Nicole escapes a bad sitch and picks up two guns and cops find their way to an otherwise barren street. As they do.

How magician Isaac finagled Nicole out of police custody is unknown, but why we're tortured by having to suffer through their scenes is the bigger mystery.

Ben was also wrangled into police custody and to CTU, where he convinced Eric all the things he did, such as threaten to sell the list to the terrorists, well, he didn't really mean it. Sheesh.

Ben: I never wanted the terrorists to get the list!

Eric: There was an easy way to do that, Ben. Not steal it from me in the first place!

🔗 permalink: There was an easy way to do that, Ben. Not steal it from me in the first place!

If I wasn't familiar with other work from these producers, I'd swear this material was from an 8th grade writing contest. At best, I'm fairly certain I could write a script and sell it, so I should stop complaining and start writing.

Then again, I'd not want my work to be compared to what's going down on 24: Legacy. Surely the idea isn't to roll your eyes and guess just about every move episodes before it happens.

Is this what Fox thought was coming their way when they gave 24: Legacy the post-Super Bowl berth? I'm guessing not.

And if you guys disagree with me, then say something in the comments. Should I try harder to find someone who truly appreciates the artistic value of this franchise to review it?

What am I missing? What did I miss in this hour that was worthy of a nod of approval?

Hit me up. Give me evidence to the contrary of this review. Or do all involved really deserve better than they're getting?

I you're finally intrigued, you can watch 24: Legacy online to see what this season is all about.

Nilaa pleads with John. He knows her family. He knows she's incapable of doing what she's being accused of doing. She's telling the truth, but nobody is listening.

Rebecca threatens Nilaa with the death penalty. John thinks she may really be being set up, but Rebecca doesn't see any good in Nilaa.

Henry gazes out the window as Nilaa is taken to CTU. He tells John he's sorry, but makes no attempt to right the situation.

Ben is freaking out, screaming I can make this right while he's being manhandled into custody.

Nobody cares about Eric's wife and the shit going down with Aisha, but we're forced to suffer through it anyway.

Keith wants to "hit her hard" when it comes to Nilaa.

Rebecca wants to continue questioning Nilaa, but Keith wants her in the conference room with him to brief somebody about terrorist dude.

At CTU, Rebecca sees Eric and the two embrace. Lots of kudos and thanks all around.

Eric needs to debrief, but he wants to see Ben first.

Mariana assures Andy Keith is looking to get rid of him. Don't screw up.

Rebecca briefs the white house Bin Khalid is preparing an apocalypse.

Ben suddenly wants to help Eric fix things, things he created in the first place. Eric is skeptical.

Amira calls her brother from the hospital. She doesn't know how to kill Archie. Sadly, his mother checks in with Amira, making the situation a little more contrickly.

One of John's men finds footage of Nilaa shouting down the Imam just like she said she was doing at the questionable mosque.

They whisper and Andy promises to get Rebecca some schematics for Carter.

Isaac gets Nicole out of police custody.

Amira goes in to see Archie, attempting to talk to him, maybe, but when he struggles and attempts to choke her, she kills him.

Henry admits to John what he did and John prepares to turn dad into CTU.

Eric and Ben hit the street.

At least one of the "leaks" at CTU is uncovered on 24: Legacy Season 1 Episode 3, but it seems far too easy this early in the game. Let's break it down!

Cunning move. Very cunning move.

While we've gotten used to Gerald McRaney sweet talking us over on This Is Us, we were reminded of his other side on 24: Legacy Season 1 Episode 3.

That side, as a father willing to go to the ends of the earth for his son, shouldn't have been all that difficult to figure out, considering he recently played a very similar role on Longmire and his on-air son is even co-starring on 24: Legacy!

Rebecca Has News - 24: Legacy Season 1 Episode 3
(FOX)

That's the nature of a good actor, though. They can lull you into a sense of comfort or squeeze you into a sense of discomfort, whatever the case may be. If McRaney wasn't doing his job well, I might have suspected him from the start.

Luis: My guy was able to hack the ATM camera, change the time stamp. Rebecca’s already pulled the footage. And she has a record that Nilaa was at campaign headquarters when the file was breached.

Henry: And there are no other cameras, there’s no other way that CTU can confirm CTU’s story?

Luis: I went over the route myself, twice. CTU won’t be able to trace the leak back to you.

Henry: That’s what you said the first time.

🔗 permalink: That’s what you said the first time.

Even though his old pal, Luis, laid it on the line for us, I still have no idea (nor can I begin to fathom the reasons) why Henry would need to go to such great lengths to prop up John's presidential candidacy.

I suppose we've come into the race a little too late in the game to fully understand the stakes.

So far, all we know is Rebecca has been the prosperous spouse while John sat back and allowed her career to flourish. He's a doting husband, and that was apparent even on 24: Legacy Season 1 Episode 1 when he stood back so she could have her moment when she received her medal of honor.

Maybe Henry didn't have the necessary faith in his son to go all the way to the White House.

Luis: Henry, you asked me to handle your mess. I’m handling it.

Henry: Givin’ up those soldiers was bad enough, but now Nilaa.

Luis: It’s our only play. Unless you’re ready to burn down John’s campaign and everything you spent your life trying to build.

🔗 permalink: It’s our only play. Unless you’re ready to burn down John’s campaign and everything you spent…

Killing an elite and respected military group didn't even seem to phase him. Maybe he's a little more touched by what's happening to Nilaa because it's going on in his backyard.

Does Nilaa Have a Secret? - 24: Legacy Season 1 Episode 3
(FOX)

Something tells me John isn't going to stand idly by, watching others trash Nilaa's life before his very eyes. She's been with him from the very beginning, and they've never had a problem with trust or her religion before.

Having a Muslim at his side could have been helpful for his campaign, especially given their current circumstances, and it's unlikely anyone close to him will let that pass.

At least I hope it doesn't.

If we can have a side story where I have to pretend to care what happens to Eric's brother (I don't) because of some petty juvenile jealousy issue with Aisha, then we can definitely play out what happens with Nilaa to the bitter end!

Seriously, we're not even going to talk about that garbage in detail because, in real time, it's embarrassing. A drug deal is about to go down, a terrorist act is about to go down and this chick is trying to get her man killed in the streets because he's helping out an ex. Aight.

Locke with a Gun - 24: Legacy Season 1 Episode 3
(FOX)

Tony and Locke have a thing? Score one for Tony! For his sake, I hope they work it out. Locke is hot. I'm bringing that up now because I have the photo available.

It's time to talk about breaking out of that police station. Implausible, you guys. My favorite bits were the facial tics with which Eric expressed himself to good cop and bad cop and asking what was on the other side of the cinder block wall, but blowing away a different part entirely. That works, too!

If only SWAT standoffs ended with a phone call as easily in real life as they do in the 24 universe, right? Because WOW. That was simple. And good cop was a good sport, as well. I might have taken offense to Carter holding the gun to my head as leverage. Not good cop!

Frankly, I'm shocked Ben Grimes made it out of the hour alive. I'm still trying to figure out HOW he made it out of the hour alive because the terrorists should have killed him.

All of his baloney about needing the money so he could go live near glacier lakes proved how messed up he'd become as a result of PTSD, and if he made it this far, maybe he'll finally get some help.

Grimes is Down! - 24: Legacy Season 1 Episode 3
(FOX)

But the terrorists have the list, and that means it's just about go time.

With a shortened season, isn't this just about the right time for a terrorist attack?

Amira and Harris may not be ready to carry out the attack on Bizarro High.

Honestly, that was unexpected. Who laughed with me when Archie (he looks like an Archie and I cannot remember his name!) jumped up and escaped out the window??

The kid was being cleaned up as a murder victim and was moved near a tarp for goodness sakes. Hadn't they already started brushing up the glass? That's a blissfully entertaining scene.

All they needed to do down there by the bleachers to make it better was to put their hands on their hips and start whistling as if they didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

Opening the door to Harris' student – with his forehead dripping with sweat and his hand covered in blood – should have sent off alarm bells in 2017. It's not as if students like their teachers enough not to tattle on them when they catch them red-handed! Literally.

By this point, the entire city should be going on lockdown. The news has about 15 minutes to catch wind of the multiple shooting at the train station, the stabbing at the school and whatever other loose ends are hanging out before they cry Armageddon.

If they only knew what's on the way. Of only WE knew!

What do you think? How bad was John ranking that Henry needed to take out an entire squad and think about terrorist activities to get his kid elected?

If you're watching, I'd love to know your thoughts on this crazy show.

If you're late to the party, you can watch 24: Legacy online to catch up!
