This sheela-na-gig is located in the museum at the Rock of Cashel. Sheela-na-gigs are female carvings found on walls of churches and castles in Ireland. Some sheelas seem to be associated with goddesses and with female saints. Some sheelas were thought to be protectors who had the power to ward off evil.
